Review: I enjoyed this sweet boy next-door romance even with the age difference. Young student falls for hot older neighbor who is a professor, who happens to be 25 years his senior. Of course, the usual age difference drama occurs, but the loss of Vincent’s lover and partner of 20 years tends to soften my heart towards him. Add all those elements to a budding relationship, throw in an ailing father and you have stacked the odds against them. I must admit being in a relationship myself where my spouse is 15 years older; I can’t wrap my mind around a 25-year age gap. I tend to plant myself in the sisters’ camp and hang on to concerns for Rob. Different milestones we hit in life should be shared otherwise when we hit those crossroads alone we tend to go in separate directions. I digress, enough soapbox. This is a sweet read, hot smexy scenes, touching emotions situations, and well written. I love how hard Rob works to catch Vince’s attention!

Blurb:   Photographer Skyler Spencer comes to Key West for his brother’s wedding expecting to take some pictures, act as best man, and maybe spend a little time getting to know his brother’s fiancée and her twin sister. Then he learns that not only is the twin a man rather than a woman, but it’s a man he’s met before–under less than appropriate circumstances.

Casey Baker doesn’t expect the guy he once had a memorable encounter in a club bathroom with to turn up as his brother-in-law to be, but he’s able to deal with the surprise. Dealing with the strong attraction they feel for each other is a lot more difficult, but Casey figures a short, hot fling will take care of that. Too bad he’s not good at staying detached, and Skyler’s not good at commitment.

When Mother Nature and the past combine to put the wedding in jeopardy, Skyler and Casey have more than just their own confused feelings to deal with. Will the weekend end with two sets of broken hearts?

Review:  Perfect for a bit of light reading. Skylar Spencer heads to Key West when his baby brother calls him to be his best man. Take some pictures, stand up for his brother, and meet his soon to be sister-in-law and her twin sister. Easy peasy, right? Well, said twin turns out to be a guy and not just any guy, but a guy Skylar has history with.

The story flows well from beginning to end with likeable characters and a cute storyline of the past, present and future coming together. The history that Skylar and Casey share, albeit brief, makes them comfortable with each other. There is a lot of content wrapped up in just a few pages. From the impending wedding of their siblings to their own budding romance and Gold manages to bring everything full circle in the end.

Predictable, but fun read with a definite HEA. Perfect story for hopeless romantics, with the added M/M twist.

Review:  I absolutely loved the first book in Cassandra Gold’s new Series, The Institute.  Basically, this is the X-men for grown-ups.  And like the most recent X-men offerings, between a bunch of action scenes, there’s a steamy romance with more than a touch of angst.

Now the Title character, Tristan, is a sweetie; a heart of gold and off-the chart healing abilities.  It takes him a while to get used to not having to hide his abilities, when he first gets to the Institute, but it doesn’t take long for him to get with the program.  Having a hottie like Cam no doubt made settling in even easier.  Speaking of Cam, he is without par my favorite character in this story.  Watching him fall in love was like seeing a car wreck in slow motion.  What’s that saying?  The bigger they are, the harder they fall.  Definitely applies to our jaded Shapeshifter.

There are also a heap of neat secondary characters that are introduced .  Hopefully, Ms. Gold won’t feel the need to just stick with just MM romance, in this series.  I would love to see Dixon fall.

So, like I said, The Institute:  Healer is a fabulous beginning.  Nice world-building, realistic plotting and excellent pace for both the romance and the action.  I look forward to book #2.
