Blurb: Is it possible to learn freedom when you’ve been behind bars all your life?

Keating is free. After spending his entire life behind bars, someone rescued him, and he almost can’t believe it. He doesn’t know how to deal with his new freedom, but Rodrick is there to help him through it, and Keating can’t resist falling in love with him.

Sully wants to hate Keating. He’s been in love with Rodrick since they were kids, and he hates seeing Rodrick and Keating together. He never expected Rodrick to tell him he loved him back, or that he wanted the three of them to be together, in a relationship.

Rodrick knows he’s asking a lot from Sully and Keating, and he doesn’t know if they’ll ever be able to make things work. He just wants Sully and Keating to agree to give their relationship a chance—and they do.

But before they can do anything about it, Sully is shot by a human hunter. Will Rodrick lose one of the men he loves? Will Sully give up, knowing Rodrick won’t be alone?

Review: Each book in the Free Shifters collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in s
sequential order.

I came across this author probably around two years ago and have followed her work since then. Her stories always intrigue me so much that I usually read them more than a dozen times each. In fact with each book that comes out I will go back and read the previous stories before reading the new one. The characters are a surprise and definitely crack me up. Now with this one, it goes in a different direction sort of.

Many years ago, shifters thought that the human’s would accept them into their world. They found out just how wrong they were. Either you were slaughtered or thrown into a cage for life. Many shifters were born in captivity, such as Keating and Emmett. However there were some that managed to escape the life and were called free shifters. Free shifters who tried to rescue all that they could.

Keating is a rare white tiger shifter who was born in captivity. Him and his best friend Emmett, have never really seen the outside world. Now they were rescued and he wanted to experience it all. That included falling in love, to bad his choice was a man who loved another.

Rodrick had been in love with Sully from the beginning, but never knew the feeling was accepted. So he had taken to Keating and fell in love once more. Too bad Sully isn’t to happy. That is until their worlds are about to get interesting, Rodrick wants them to be a threesome couple.

Then the horrible happens and Sully is shot. Well you’re just going to have to read the story if you want more details. Trust me you will want to read it, might just make your day.

Now with this story I had thought that the first book was a bit stiff and figured it was just a new beginning to a series. However this one didn’t seem to smooth out as much as it should have. It was still a good read, but just felt off to me for some reason. Doesn’t mean I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book though. Just going to have to wait and see how they go.

Blurb: The only thing Emmett has known his entire life is the zoo. He was born in captivity, taken away from his mother when he was twelve, and has lived alone in his cage for the past twelve years.

Levin is a free shifter. He was born free, and he’s made saving shifters under human control one of his missions in life. The lucky ones are locked in zoos for human entertainment. The unlucky ones are in labs, being tortured and killed.

Emmett and his best friend are rescued from the Colorado Zoological Park just before the park plans to get rid of Emmett for not being able to breed. Emmett has trouble adapting to life outside the cage, but Levin is there for him, helping him every step of the way. It’s confusing and scary, but Emmett has never felt so safe—yet so out of place.

Levin and Emmett must find a way to fit together as they deal with a jealous ex and Emmett tries to become a true pack member. When one of the kids runs away, not even Levin listens to Emmett when he says he can help. Will Levin manage to rescue the pup before it’s too late? What will happen when Emmett decides to disobey Levin’s order to stay put and gets hurt in the process?

Emmett had been born in a zoo, but had been taken away from his mother at the age of twelve. He has never known freedom or what the outside world was like. Forced to try to get a female pregnant, he knew his death was soon to come. Then Levin showed up to save him and another.

Levin has been free all his life and made it is life to rescue those who were caged up. He just hadn’t expected to fall for the little guy. However life is not all about understanding, because Emmett was having a hard time adapting to his new life. Then a young shifter decides to go outside where the hunter’s were and got lost. No one will listen, so it is up to Emmett to save the day.

This sounded like a fascinating story but it doesn’t seem to flow as smoothly as the rest of Catherine’s books do. It just seemed a bit off to me, but was still a very fascinating book. I loved the worlds this author creates and the characters rock. It caught my attention and kept it to the end of the story.

Blurb: Robbie has been spending a lot of time with the shifters hiding in the mountain since his best friend Vaughn moved there. That means he’s also been spending a lot of time with Scott, one of the alphas. He likes Scott, but he’s convinced nothing can happen between them. As an alpha, Scott deserves so much better. Besides, with several cases of shifters wanting more rights being brought in front of the Supreme Court, they have other things to focus on.

Scott doesn’t know why Robbie is pushing him away. He can tell it’s not because he doesn’t want him, though, so he decides to push a little. He knows it was the right decision when Robbie starts opening up, and when the construction of the first shifter-human town in the state begins, he volunteers both of them to help.

Robbie and Scott try to live with each other and with the self-esteem issues Robbie’s ex caused when he left him. But not everyone wants shifters to be free, and between the protestors picketing outside the new town and the traitor inside it trying to stop construction, they’re going to have to trust each other, no matter their problems.

Review: It is finally coming to an end of the stupid laws against shifters. It is now at the supreme court and although many are still afraid to come out, they are going forward. The man behind getting the law changed was wanting to build a town for shifters and humans, but he needed help getting there.

Robbie’s best friend was dating and living with the shifters but he only sees im everyonce in awhile. There was a certain bear shifter that made him confused but hot. It also didn’t help that when he was going to see him, that goofy bear scared the shit out of him.

Scott was an alpha bear who was falling in love with Robbie. When the question of volunteers was brought up he suggested them both. They were to build the homes and live there, but first he had to get Robbie into it.

I love the mixture of shifters in this series. Bear shifters are quite unique and fun to read about. Although Scott is an alpha he doesn’t really act like it. He is very charming and fun, where as Robbie comes off as a stick in the mud. My problem with this particular book was there was no feeling of chemistry between these two. They just didn’t come off like they should have. Plus the way it flowed was a bit off as well.

Other than those issues it is still a nice book. I can’t wait to see what the next book will be like.
