Blurb: Beau Toyama, biplane pilot and flight instructor on the Big Island of Hawai’i has only been out for a year. His last relationship with a man was a disaster. When he meets Matt Quintal, who’s visiting his sister, he’s stunned by the instant attraction to him. But Beau’s afraid to ask for what he needs in a relationship; his anger frightens him. The “mixed plate” Hawaiian/Japanese/Tahitian man works on being Zen calm but Matt brings all his emotions to the surface. It uncovers a devastating secret from his childhood and deep shame that needs healing.

Matt Quintal, New Zealand painter has been living the wild gay life in LA. After one more night of soulless mechanical sex where his body is engaged but his emotions aren’t—he knows he needs a change. His sister wants him to come to Hawai’i for a visit; another big rock in the middle of the Pacific doesn’t seem like a solution but he has to do something. When he flies with Beau in his biplane, he feels a strong pull toward both man and plane that he can neither explain nor deny.

Matt’s a New Zealander, they’re encouraged to be tough, rugged and durable. He is, but he’s emotionally a wreck, afraid to show his emotions, so he’s surprised when Beau encourages him to be all of himself. Has he finally found the freedom to be the man he wants to be? The heat between the two men is like watching Pele let her hair down, releasing her hot, molten lava.

Will the gorgeous Hawaiian with his long silky black hair and soulful brown eyes finally convince the gypsy nature in Matt to put down roots in another island culture?

Review: Meg is a new author for me so I was a bit leery of reading this story. Now I usually have trouble following Hawaiian themes but this one was a pretty damn good story. I loved the unique feel to the story, and the way she did the background was damn good. The story has a magical tilt to it that was fascinating. Almost made me actually want to go. But, since I don’t fly I guess I will just lose myself into this story once more.

What caught my attention was the cover and how it came out perfectly. Also the guy and his necklace were pretty damn hot. Then I looked at the title and the blurb so I was a bit skittish of reading a story with such different backgrounds. However the author managed the perfect balance of heart, soul, feelings and heat.

Matt is a painter and he feels like he is lost his way. He is fed up with one night stands and he needs a change. So when his sister needs him to run to Hawaii he jumps at it. When he meets Beau things are about to change. Beau is one sexy pilot and the attraction is strong.

Although I thought the premonition Beau’s mother gave him makes it seem like it is headed in a different direction, especially since she is dead. However that is not the way it is. Kind of like when you go to a family members grave and talk to them. I have to say that I am not the same way, because I figure once dead you’re dead. It worked for this story though.

Most people I know run from commitment and that was what Matt had done in the past, but this time he moves forward. It shows what happens in many families and how they start to heal from it all. How they fall in love. I actually found myself intrigued with this story and the magical tone it has to it. It was very cute and the author pulled it off pretty good.

What’s more is neither of the guys is young and have found love for the first time. It also gives you guys that are fully detailed with such fascinating ethnic backgrounds that will captivate you and have you wishing you were the one they were with.

The only problem I found was some of the words were a bit stiff or way to formal for me to get into all the way. However that might just be the cultural differences that is between people.

I truly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
