Blurb: In the fanciful world of Sendalar, where dragons dot the skies and magic is steadily giving way to industry, Raven’s Blood and Talman Goodearth meet in the tiny village of River’s Bend, where they become best friends. When a tragedy occurs, however, the boys are torn apart. Years later, they come back together at university. Love blossoms, but danger lurks in the shadows. Raven and Tal slowly discover that their love may come with a price too high to bear.
Review: I loved Raven and Tal in this story. They were close as could be and got even closer. The story was slow and focused a lot on the romance of the couple. I would have liked more action as opposed to romance but that’s just me.
The thing that confused me was there were references mentioned about using modern things yet the story is focused as older than that so I did not know what to make of it except that maybe they utilized modern inventions yet still had an old world feel to the story.
Aside from that I enjoyed the story with it’s dragons and riders very much and all it’s entertaining qualities.
Blurb: At the age of sixteen, August Goodson developed a strange and mysterious power overnight: he can find people. Victims of murder, suicide, kidnapping, accidents, and rape; August can find them all, usually dead, but sometimes still alive. Nine years later finds August volunteering his services to the police. He’s still smarting from the loss of his long-time love Dante, who cheated on him with his best friend, and harbors a deep crush on the incredibly handsome, and oh-so-straight, Detective Luke Williams. But there are bigger concerns on August’s mind: a serial killer is loose in the city, one whose victims are a little too much like him for comfort. When August finds a living victim who may be one of the serial killer’s, he’s drawn even deeper into the case. Will he make it out alive, or will he soon be the one in need of finding?
Review: This is the first book by this author that I have read and I do hope they turn this into a series. It has been one of the best mysteries I have came across in awhile. There are very few authors of mystery that catch my eye with their stories, but this one did just that.
August was sixteen when he first was contacted by a deceased person. He was able to locate their bodies and bring them home. After awhile the police decided to keep him on, even if he was not going to get paid for it. Not all of them were dead, but most were. It left him many times in a dark place. The man he had loved had cheated on him with his best friend, leaving him not wanting to connect with others. Cherry was the only one left. Well except for the two detectives who he helped for over five years. One of them was drop dead gorgeous also.
Luke is one of the best detectives at the station. Him and his partner were the ones that helped August out. He had been married once and lost her, but now his heart was slowly leaning towards August. With all the deaths and beatings going on, he knew he had to keep August safe. When one of the living victims keeps Augusts attention, they find a new and surprising direction. The past comes pretty much back to circle.
This was a fantastic read, and I have to say that I didn’t expect the killer to be who they were. Although I will also say, that the way the person acted kind of gave you pause. It was pretty cool though and I loved the guys together. I didn’t care for one part of it, which was Oliver’s part. However I was glad to see in the end he even got a good ending, sort of. This story caught my attention from the start and I just couldn’t put the book down. The plot is super tight and very unique.
I had a lot of fun reading this and can’t wait to see the rest of this author’s work. I would definitely recommend this book.
