Review: This is the third book in the Moon Series. It can be read as a standalone but you will feel the confusion I did when I read book 2 without realising there was even a book 1 because we are once again briefly see the couples of the previous books. I really wanted to love this book in an “OMG I’m gonna reread this” sort of way. However, while I didn’t hate it and I was by no means bored with, I was disappointed because I didn’t like it more.

Frost Moon basically ties books 1 and 2 together. Book 1 was about Halloween, book 2 was Thanksgiving and here in book 3 we have Christmas. Each book is about a person who hates the holiday for one reason or another. The one thing I like about this series is that all three are very different in terms of plot, though they both rely on the same trouble making demon. From a guess just reading this one, I won’t be surprised if the demon, Gage does get his own story and I would very happily read it. Unlike the previous books, particularly book 2, we pretty much already know what’s going on – if you haven’t read the series one of the main characters from book 2, who is also boss to Jagger, tells Jagger straight out.

But onto the story of Frost Moon. I’ve been trying to figure out what has me disappointed and I think I pin pointed it: there is almost too much reading between the lines. The detail is there but the way it is written, some of the things you have to jump to the conclusion. The other thing is the romance between the main character, Michael and Jagger, is just too much insta-love. Another thing I pin pointed is that I think that the plot is rushed as well and that perhaps this could have been served better as a longer novel.

However, I have to admit that I love Jagger, he is perfectly quirky, I mean, what grown man goes to visit Santa? He is sweet and his loneliness is heartbreaking. Michael on the other hand, is strong and everything you expect an angel to be. But once he’s with Jagger he begins to change and I just wonder if once again the short length of this story has cut short Michael’s character development. I think maybe I just want to know more about Michael, like any good angel, he’s enigmatic.

Regardless what I think, this is a good read, though I think as a reader of the series in fact made me question more. The plot line is certainly unique. I was also nice to encounter the previous couples once more, Paul and Tony/Tristan, and, Reed and Matt.

Blurb: All Matt Green wants for Thanksgiving is to propose to his boyfriend in the most epic way he knows-in front of their families. There’s only one catch. His boyfriend, Reed Jordan, doesn’t do family gatherings. To be honest, Reed isn’t wild about Thanksgiving, but he won’t say why.

Matt’s willing to do anything in order to get Reed to talk, but will it make the holiday perfect or ruin all of Matt’s plans? The Harvest Moon just might be the right omen to make everything all right

Review: This is book two in a series, a couple of others here at the blog and I discovered it was actually not that easy to find out that it was a sequel to the Halloween story, Blue Moon (reviewed on MMGoodBookReviews by Thommie). It isn’t essential to read Blue Moon before Harvest Moon, I had no problem following it was just the appearance of two characters bugged me (I’ll get back to that). Reading the first book did clarify things, but I feel it was nice having the sense of mystery of not actually knowing what happened in the first book while reading Matt and Reed’s story.

That being said, when I found myself being introduced to two characters, Paul and Tony, as if I am meant to know what was going on. These characters are pivotal to the story, they are key to explaining the sub plot and here is also where the paranormal element comes in. Even after reading, I found myself trying to find out where these elusive characters came from.

The main plot of the book is sweet and is nicely complimented by the sub plot. This story is basically a celebration of family and love. It’s sweet and both MCs are wonderful. Matt is an exceedingly understanding and compassionate person, and it’s pretty clear from the get go that he is exactly what Reed needs. Reed has trouble when it comes to trusting new people, even some people that he knows. He needs Matt, but as Matt makes perfectly clear, he needs Reed and that is what Matt intends to prove to Reed at Thanksgiving.

Really enjoyable, you can read Blue Moon first, but I preferred my accidental reading out of order. Whether read in order or not, there is an element of spoiling between books. But as you can see from my writing, I really enjoyed reading about Matt and Reed but hated the fact that Paul and Tony just left me hanging after they revealed their bombshell and toddled off.
