Review: Wow! I’m impressed with this series of short stories from Storm Moon Press! Helotry is part of the Written in Flesh series, and Suzanne Van Rooyen does a great job of creating a foreign planet, and co mingling new and separate human species.

There were great tense moments when I was sure Rontak would be discovered, and both would be punished, for the slave’s escape no matter that he was really a refugee in this scenario. The one thing that I noticed most about this story is how well the author describes and entrances us with Rontak’s beauty, his strength, as well as creating some alien or otherworldly aspects to him.

Another enjoyable read by an author that is new to me and I can’t wait to dig up more of her work!
