Blurb: Immerse yourself in the intriguing but often tragic lives of those who exist on the margins of society. The dispossessed, the discarded, and the delinquent all get to tell their stories. But in amongst the anger and alienation comes a fascinating truth. These people operate by their own, often flawed, values. Watch a nurse deal with her bulimic patient, observe the rage of a high school student slashing the tires of his teacher’s cars, and witness the goings on behind the closed doors of a drug rehab center.

Promiscuous is not for the faint of heart. These fifteen hard-hitting short stories explore the darker side of the human condition, getting into characters’ minds and telling life like it is with no apologies.

Review: First, I want to be clear, and I think the author is, that these stories are not romances. They are a window to the ugly side of humanity. They show humans at their weakest points, struggling and losing to addictions, hurting each other, alienating weaker people, being dishonest, generally speaking showing us what happens when we fail ourselves….fail each other.

At first, I did not like this anthology and didn’t want to finish it…but then I realized this author was a genius! I wanted to avoid these stories just like I want to avoid these darker situations when I come across them in real life, put them out of sight, pretend we’re all better than this. But the truth is we are not, well maybe we don’t all get to the extremes portrayed in these stories, but we all fail, and we all eventually fail some person we could have helped.

I think these stories are an eye opener, and maybe instead of just being repulsive, they will make us think harder next time we are about to make a bad choice, or the next time we confront the darker part of society. Not a feel good read, rather a feel bad and maybe do something about it read.

Blurb:Darren Young and his older lover Cutter Drake are a study in contrasts. Cutter has everything: success, confidence, looks, and a kinky sexual appetite. Still in college, Darren is unsure of most things, except his love for Cutter.

It is during their weekly visits to a bathhouse in Dallas where a reluctant Darren indulges some of Cutter’s more bizarre sexual demands. What choice does he have? Cutter could have anyone, but he loves Darren, Darren can see it in his eyes.

This trip to the bathhouse promises to end in tears, but whose, and why?

Review: This was an interesting story. Darren is obviously very love-struck on Cutter. Cutter is an older man with some kinks. There is a surprising twist that sort of left me confused in the end. I would have loved for this story to have been longer to clear this up.  Having said this, I do like this story I love this authors deep emotional style, though I would like to see a full-length story. The stories deal with hard subjects in this case drugs, and kinky sex habits. I really could feel Darren’s pain and love for Cutter.

If you like, short stories dealing with emotions, sexual kinks and drugs this one is for you.
