Although Addy’s heart and body bear the scars from his life before he was adopted by the Deans, he’s ached for something he thought he would never find. Until he met Benny. He isn’t sure how anyone can care for someone as broken as he is, even though he wants it desperately.

High school senior Benny Peters has his whole life planned out for him, until a chaste kiss at summer camp opens a new world of possibilities. Determined to erase Addy’s insecurities, Benny works to take away his boyfriend’s pain and replace it with love.

When Addy’s past intrudes on their future, it’s going to take everything Benny can muster to show that no matter what – or who – they face, they belong together.

Excerpt:

ADDY SAT in the car, worry creasing his brow. Not even an hour ago, he’d been so happy. Why was he so nervous now? His thoughts drifted back to his conversation with his dad. Would Benny still want him when he found out what had happened? Would he think Addy was too broken? Addy shivered. He tried to tell himself Benny would never be like that, but how could he know for sure?

“What’s up, little man? I can hear you thinking from over here.” Benny chuckled.

“Nothing, Benny. I’m okay.”

“Addy, c’mon. I can tell you’ve got something on your mind. I need to know what it is. I can’t help if you won’t let me.”

Addy took a deep breath. “I’m afraid,” he admitted. “Of what? Camp?” “No… of losing you.”

“I don’t understand. Why would you think you’d lose me?”

“Benny.” Addy sighed. “I need to tell you some stuff. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s really not going to be nice.”

About Will

WILL PARKINSON believes that no matter what obstacles are thrown in the path of young love, it will always find a way to win in the end. He wants his characters to have their happily ever after, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to come easily.

None of this would have happened if he had followed the advice he was given many years ago. “What are you wasting your time on that for? It’s never going to amount to anything.” He believed it for the longest time, abandoning characters he’d created in his childhood.

He picked up his very first m/m story by a writer named Eden Winters, who was an absolute joy when they corresponded. She asked him if he wrote and he told her the story. Eden explained to Will that the voices in his head would never go away and how he needed to let them out. With that thought in mind, Will put e-pen to e-paper once more. It was truly a liberating experience and one he has no intention of giving up again.

Blurb: Although Addy’s heart and body bear the scars from his life before he was adopted by the Deans, he’s ached for something he thought he would never find.

When Addy’s past intrudes on their future, it’s going to take everything Benny can muster to show that no matter what–or who–they face, they belong together.

Warning: This story has heart wrenching details of childhood abuse, and one instant of sadistic violence.

Review: Well, I have to admit I am very stingy when it comes to dishing out 5 hearts especially when it comes to contemporary romances because I expect a 5 heart book to rock my world, and well Wet Paint has done that with an incredible storyline, astounding characters and the stunning array of emotions that it pulled from me…. Will Parkinson *grrrr*.

This story is part of a series and while the story is best read in order, it can be read as a standalone. Addy was still struggling with his past when he met Benny at Camp Care but with Benny and Taylor’s support he is managing to move forward with his life, but more than that Addy has found someone to care for and he wishes to move forward with a relationship with Benny. Benny has always known what he wants in life, he wants to help people and guide them to a better life, meeting Addy has him wanting so much more but first he wants erase Addy’s insecurities and remove Addy’s pain with his love.

Benny is an astonishing young man who has such a caring loving heart, and that heart is captured by Addy just by being the young man he has become. Benny shares himself with others to help them in their own lives, but it is Addy who has breached his own heart and made Benny truly consider what he wants for himself. Addy has had an incredibly painful past, it’s a past that has your breath hitching and the tears running done your cheeks as Addy confesses his full past to the young man he has come to love, it’s the opening of a wounded heart to the person who wants to hold that heart close and nurture it… so get your tissues ready.

We don’t just get a story of two young men falling in love; we get a story of trauma of the past, the slow journey of recovery, the setbacks and pushing forward to the future. We also get a story of caring young men who want to help others and the ups and downs of that journey, Addy and Benny both learn a lot for themselves as they try to help young Liam. I’d like to say that Addy and Benny get together, have a touch of angst and then they live happily ever after, unfortunately their journey is much harder because Addy’s past rears its ugly head… so be prepared for surges of anger and disgust, sadistic glee and then misty eyed tears. We also get to revisit Taylor and Jackson from Pitch, we see their progress but it doesn’t force its way into the story it’s the natural progression of Benny and Taylor being friends… and it’s also why this story can be a standalone because there is enough information throughout this story to fill in any gaps if you missed Pitch (although I still recommend you read it first *wink*)

So what can I say about this story, well I can say it’s beautifully written, that the characters are wonderful, that the storyline is both beautiful and heart wrenching and that the journey to the last page will have you so glad that you read it. I’d say this is a must read book!
