One huge fight changed Seth’s life forever.

Seth Murray just might be the most stubborn man on the face of this plant. He refused to move back to Pickleville because of one fight with his father. That is until he gets a call saying that his dad has passed away suddenly. The first person Seth thinks about is the one man he gave up because of his stubborn pride. Five years ago, all Seth wanted was to be with Carter. Now he doesn’t know what he wants. And Carter has his own life. One that Seth certainly didn’t see coming when he finally reconnects with the man again. One that revolves around a certain blonde haired, blue-eyed little girl that completely melts Seth’s heart the minute he meets her.

Guest Post

A great big hello to you all. My name is April Kelley. I’m excited to be here. Thank you so very much for having me. A little about myself.

I’m a wife and a mother of two teenagers. I know, right? Teenagers. They are the loves of my life, but so scary sometimes. Like when my daughter tells me she has a boyfriend. Yikes. And my son thinks he knows everything. He wants to be the next YouTube star posting gaming videos, which I encourage because I play make believe for a living. Anyway, they are both super smart and talented and gorgeous. I know I’m their mother so I’m sort of bias, but it’s true.

My family and I live in southwest Michigan. It’s the best place on the earth to live in my opinion because we have a lake that looks like an ocean when you stand on the shoreline. Sometimes if it’s a clear summer’s day you can see Chicago but I’ve only been able to do that once in my 40 years of living here.  All that water and beach is definitely good for the creative soul. It certainly helps me write and gets those plot bunnies hopping around in my head.

I write M/M contemporary and paranormal romance. The paranormal romance is a new adventure for me. My very first published book comes out in February 2015. While I’ve been blessed that eXtasy Books agreed to take a chance on a newbie like me, I’ve been writing for most of my life. In fact, I still have the very first story I ever wrote. I was ten years old when I wrote it. It was a fanfiction story, before fanfiction was even a thing, based on the movie Stand By Me. I was so in love with that movie, with the idea that someone can have friends who were like family. I have three sisters and two brothers.  My siblings drove me crazy, so I really wanted to disown them all, and put my friends in their place. I’m glad I didn’t trade them in for different family members, because now they are all great people. One of my sister’s is even one of my best friends.

Anyway, I watched that movie endlessly. When I finally got my hands on the book I thought Stephen King was a genius. Okay, Stephen King is a genius.  I wanted to do what he did with words, create worlds that no one else knew about until I wrote them down and create people that were as complex as any person I encountered face to face.

I hoped I accomplished this with even just a little with my series, Pickleville. Pickleville is typical small town USA, where everybody knows everyone. For a gay man the good citizens of Pickleville don’t always make the town a comfortable place to live. Few people find love even in a big city. I’m happy to be writing about men who find it in a very unlikely place.

Excerpt

Seth knew Carter saw him. How could he not. Carter walked right passed him into the horse barn like Seth had been invisible, though. Seth followed him in and stood there for a second watching Carter go into the tack room. Seth followed him in and then closed the door after him, plunging them both into darkness.

“Open the door, Seth.”

“No.”

“Then at least turn on the light.”

“No, I like it this way.” It made the conversation they needed to have that much easier. Still scared the crap out of him though, not that he would be admitting that anytime soon to anyone.

“Seth.”

“I’ll turn on the light when you tell me what your problem is.”

“I don’t have a problem. Now, turn on the light before you trip over something.”

“Right, like you’re really worried about my wellbeing at the moment.”

“What’s that supposed to mean? I don’t want you to get hurt.”

“Well, it’s a little too late for that, now isn’t it?”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about the way you’ve been treating me. Like I have the damn plague or something.”

He heard Carter sigh. “Seth, please. Just open the door so I can do my job.”

“The sooner you tell me what your problem is, the sooner I let you out.”

“I can physically remove you from in front of that door.”

Seth narrowed his eyes. Logically, he knew Carter couldn’t see him, but he didn’t care at the moment. Seth didn’t say anything. The more he talked the more Carter wanted to argue about everything, but the real problem. Instead, he decided to wait Carter out.

Review: Each book in the Pickleville collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

I love the way this author can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by April. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts and you can tell how they feel for each person in their family.

Seth had been young and foolish. His dad had wanted him to go out and be something more than just a farmer or rancher. His boyfriend had agreed with his father. He had left there and basically blamed them for their decision. He swore he would never go home again. That is until he got the call saying his father had passed.

Carter had not been as sure as Seth was about them. He loved him with his heart but at the time he had agreed with Seth’s father. It had cost him, then a few things went wrong and his life was going to change. So when Seth’s father passed, he got to see Seth again. It had been five years and so much had changed. Especially for him, with a cute little girl that seemed to help them both heal after their past.

This was one of those series that you couldn’t wait to grab the next story. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. I loved the guys and Issy was a blast. This book gave me everything I could ask for in a story. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. I had a blast reading it and I can’t wait to read the next story. When April puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up. I would definitely recommend reading this book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.
