First of all I’d like to thank MM Good Book Reviews for allowing me to visit today.

Today I’d like to give readers a little insight into how I create my characters. This is my bio for Peter Tao, the main character of Hacked Up. The basic form has a lot of stuff I don’t use and some of it I come up with as I write. Most important childhood event that still affects him/her: When he was six a cousin came out as lesbian. She was disowned by her family. Peter’s parents supported the decision.
Why/How? : Thinks of this when he considers coming out to his parents. He’d rather stay single or keep his sexuality from his parents then disappoint them.

How did they feel emotionally, afterwards? Confused.
How has this affected the character, if substantially at all? Has equated sex to be hidden.

What does this character think/feel about:
Marriage: Fine with it, doesn’t think it’s for him.
Children: Would love to have a couple but doubts he will
Sex: Likes it
Love: Wants it
Homosexuality: Cool with it even if his parents think it’s wrong
The opposite sex: They’re fine.

If you could choose an actor for this character, who would it be? He’s not an actor but I based Peter’s looks and attitude on Yul Kwon, the winner of Survivor: Cook Islands.

If you could choose a voice actor for this character, who would it be? If we’re talking audiobook I’d love Tristan James to narrate the book.

About Ethan!

Ethan Stone Avatar_ES 300X300Romance on the Edge

Ethan Stone doesn’t write your typical boy meets boy stories. With a combination of love and suspense he makes his characters work hard for their HEAs. If they can survive what he puts them through, then they can survive anything. He enjoys Romance with an Edge.

Ethan has been reading mysteries and thrillers since he was young. He’s had a thing for guys in uniform for just as long. That may have influenced the stories he writes.

He’s a native Oregonian with two kids. One of whom has made him a grandfather three times over; even though he is way too young.

Review: Peter gets handed a case that is gruesome, trying to find any leads is hard and the ones they do find quickly peter out so Peter and his partner, Jamey, are racing against the clock as the body count rises.

Well, I think I’ve told you all I can about the actually storyline because if I try to say anything else I’d give something away 😉 I can tell you about Peter though and he’s a fascinating character, he has a very staunch view of what’s right and wrong, especially when it comes to cheating spouses, but he does try to understand that he doesn’t know the truth behind every relationship (he can still be an ass about it though). He’s very driven and he’s one person that you would have to have as a friend. He’s been hurt by love in the past so he guards his heart and is very reluctant to lower his defences, but when he does he still sticks to his convictions.

The actual case that Peter is working is brilliant woven, it leads you in different directions and has you wondering just who is the culprit really is because there are a couple of red herrings littered throughout the case. There’s confusion and mystery that dog you as you try to get to the bottom of the case, but Ethan Stone makes us work for it and even then he throws in a twist or two just to confound you.

While there is a romance blossoming for Peter, it is low key and Peter takes it slowly so don’t expect hot sex, there’s some heavy petting which is hot but there’s more to the relationship than two men jumping into bed. There’s also some tragedy in the story that sort-of pulls your bleeding heart out of your body in its traitorous grip, I won’t even touch on that as it’s something that’s felt throughout the story.

I loved this story and am so happy that Ethan Stone wrote a new detective character, Peter’s story is amazing and *fingers crossed* we’ll see more of him in the future.

I recommend this to those who love delving into mysteries and thrillers, who love flawed characters, who adore twists and turns, who love storylines that can confound, who love budding romances, and those who adore Ethan Stone’s Flesh series, because this story is just as good.
