Review: Each book in the Werewolves of Manhattan collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Even though I have all of the books in this series, this is the first one I have had a chance to read and I have to say that it rocked. Now, I must admit there are some issues that were driving me nuts about it. But, not enough to take away from the story. My attention was caught from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. I will warn you though that if you have issues with rape or gang rape, then you will not want to read this story.
Kane is what one calls a human Omega, which means he is very special to those around him. He has such strong faith and an amazing sense of honor about him. He had stood up to a coach who was nothing more than a bully, and it almost cost him his life. He was rescued by an Alpha and brought back to the Alpha’s home to heal.
Gabriel is the Alpha in Manhattan and has found his mate. A mate that had been brutally raped and beaten by five men. He knows that it will take time to form the bond, because his mate was terrified of being touched. With the help of other Alpha-mates, Kane has a chance to not only heal, but to find true love with a mate that loves him.
Now my only true issues with this is after the rape. Kane is more worried about his papers then acting like a rape victim. But then again, victims never act the same so it didn’t take away from the story at all. Also they were very affectionate, but maybe too affectionate in a way. The Alphas are strong, but they are all wealthy, sweet, caring and powerful wolves. But, there is just something off about them, also.
Also, this story comes off more like being told than actually showing me what it is about. It is also a bit over doing on some spots and too much like other scenes in a way. A.C. Katt’s stories are very unique, complex in parts but is also a bit off.
However although it feels like this, the story to me rocked. My attention never wavered from the story at all. I enjoyed it and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
