Blurb: Markus always admired his mentor, Nicodemus. Over his two years as an apprentice physician, Markus’ admiration has grown into something deeper, but he has never been brave enough to admit it. One summer evening, a ragged man comes to the clinic claiming he is cursed. During the treatment, chaos breaks loose as the patient attacks them. Fear of losing the man he loves makes Markus doubt his ability, but there’s no time for hesitation if he wants to save the badly injured Nicodemus.

Review: I had a difficult time with this story. It jumps around quite a bit, what with who they are and what they meant to each other. It is a very short story and maybe if it had been a little bit longer with more detail and a better story line I would have enjoyed it better.

The tension between Markus and Doctor Nicodemus starts off a high, then slowly rises to end just as fast with the dangers brought on. Markus is a kind and gentle soul who idolized and wanted his Doctor Nicodemus. He worked for Nicodemus and lived there with him. There was sexual tension in the story but no actual sex. You can’t help but slowly love these two and be scared for them.

It has a paranormal shift to this story that I wish had been more in detail and a better plot to the story. It left me hanging and wishing for more.
