Review: Murphy and Sarge are fighting a war that should have ended years ago. They all know it is money and greed that keep them there, but for now they continue to fight the fight. Murphy was injured on his last mission but he seems to be on his way to recovering very well.

By now, the crew knows, or they think they know, what goes on behind their closed door. Murphy is a little embarrassed, but he holds his head up just the same.

Sarge wears his tough and abrasive personality in front of his crew, at all times, but he’s realizing how much Murphy has softened him up, and he just shakes his head in disbelief. When it’s just the two of them, they are like poetry in motion. Murphy loves, LOVES, submitting to Sarge and being at his beck and call. He will do whatever he needs, or what Sarge needs, to serve him.

Sarge puts Murph through his paces, knowing the whole time what it’s doing to him, or to certain body parts. When they engage in sex their spark is like a force field ready to ignite. It is powerful and explosive. Murphy has the ability to see colors, an aurora that lets him know Sarge is more than happy when they are together.

As the Marines prepare for their next mission, something is not right. Both, Sarge and Murph, feel it they just don’t know what it is. Murphy is having trouble with his leg working properly but chooses to keep it to himself, right now.

The team splits up and that puts Sarge on alert. Their mission is simple, or so they were led to believe, but they soon find out it is more than they were told. As trouble ensues and they are left to their own devices will the other team members find them before it’s too late?

And, something is happening to Murphy causing his vision to blur, colors are going haywire, and he is struggling to stand. Sarge is going ballistic and he aims to kill. He needs answers even though he knows he won’t like the ones he hears. Is it possible they were set up?

Bey Deckard has an incredible ability to write beautiful prose that will suck you in and make you thankful for the experience. Murphy is a short story, much like Sarge, with enough action and drama that you would swear it was a full length novel. You know it’s not because you keep looking at the page count hoping the end is not in sight.

As I have come to expect with anything that has Bey attached to it, the execution is smooth and flawless and the descriptive narrative will catapult you into the story. The sex scenes are just as beautiful, which sounds a little weird with it being two marines, but hey…that’s the way it is.

Sarge reminiscing with himself about Murphy…

Gorgeous and gifted with as much brains as brawn…and unwaveringly and completely mine. I grit my teeth and blink hard.

There must be dust in my eye.

He rescued me, my boy. From myself, mostly. And, you can bet your ass that from now until forever, I’m going to make every single goddamn second count.

Even if you think to yourself, I don’t like sci-fi, don’t let it deter you with this series. I don’t like it either, however, I love everything Bey Deckard. Maybe we should make a new genre called, WhateverBeywrites. 
