Blurb:  Dark and brooding firefighter Brad Archer has spent months denying his attraction to his roommate, police officer Gavin Connolly. Gavin is just the kind of guy he likes: tall, tough, and buff enough to actually handle Brad’s big size and rough nature.

To hide his real feelings Brad holds the handsome, seemingly straight cop at arms’ length until a shooting at work leaves Gavin a little too vulnerable to ignore. What starts out as a simple attempt to comfort his roommate blows up into something wild, sexual, and wholly unexpected when Gavin wants more from Brad than a strong firefighter’s shoulder to lean on.

The sexual magnetism drawing the two of them together forces secrets to be revealed, and though the sex is mind-blowing it may not be worth weathering the storms their relationship could stir up. In order to protect him, Brad realizes he loves Gavin enough to let him go. The problem is—the stubborn cop may not let him.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: bondage, male/male sexual practices.

Review:  You might not know it, but Kele Moon is the only writer who ever made bondage sexy, for me.  So you can imagine my surprise that while Packing Heat is uber sexy, not a single whip is in the mix.  There is a great scene with handcuffs, but hey, Gavin is a cop…

This really was a great read.  I loved the fact that both Gavin and Brad are strong, sexy men.  Both have very dangerous jobs and can really be there for each other.  There were quite a few times when I wanted to pop the back of Brad’s head.  His thinking was a bit warped, at times.  It was okay for him to be openly gay, at the fire station, but somehow, Gavin shouldn’t have to deal with homophobic jerks on his job.  Huh?

I must admit, Gavin is my favorite.  He doesn’t really understand why Brad does it for him, but he is more than willing to explore the sexual possibilities.  And when he realizes what Brad has been trying to ignore, that they are perfect for each other, he has no problem welding those handcuffs.

Kele Moon does an amazing job of getting into her character’s head.  While it irritated the hell out of me that Brad was willing to throw his relationship away, because we spend so much time in his head, I understood where he was coming from.  Same with Gavin.  He may start out looking like your typical bi-curious guy, but he is hiding a few secrets that blow that theory out of the water.  By the end, it was hard to tell who was the seduced and who was the seducer.

This story is very well-written and has a nice pace.  The sex is steamy, rough at times, but always loving.  Not quite “gay for you”, but close.  I really enjoy Kele Moon’s BDSM Eden series, but Packing Heat is a series I will have on automatic pre-order.  I really hope she’s somewhere creating another hot couple of men looking for love in all the wrong places.  Highly recommend.
