Adding It Up
(By The Numbers 02)
by
Tory Temple & Chris Owen
Dogs, a young daughter, and shift work make for an unpredictable and never boring life for new couple Deuce and Trey. Trey is keeping his ex-wife out of their hair, but Deuce is determined to forge a truce between them all. Trey is vehemently opposed to a friendship between Deuce and Holly—she’s the last person Trey wants more interaction with. Deuce persists, however, and tensions between them could spell the end of their relationship.
They’ll have to find a way to make it all add up again—or lose everything.
First Edition of Adding it Up–By the Numbers II published by Torquere Press, 2013.
Blurb: When Nathaniel, aka Deuce, arrives home to an apartment building on fire, he can only think of one thing: his pregnant dog. Luckily firefighter Trey Donovan rescues her, and Nathaniel is exceedingly grateful. In fact, he tracks down Trey’s station so he can show his gratitude properly—and explore the connection he senses between them. Trey’s interested, but a less-than-friendly ex-wife and the seven-year-old daughter he’s raising make things… complicated. Between everything on Trey’s plate and the newborn puppies Deuce must care for—while homeless—finding common ground won’t be easy. But the spark of attraction between them is too enticing to be allowed to fizzle.
Review: The first thing I should say was that what made me grab this book was the cover. It was so damn cute and hey who doesn’t love dogs. It is a very entertaining little story that is just adorable and fresh. I loved how the characters were and let’s just say they were hot. A little computer nerd and a sexy fireman, perfect for each other. Then add in a sweet seven year old girl and 3 dogs, or should I say two of them are puppies. Now the ex-wife can be taken out of the picture, what a twit.
This story just caught my attention with the first word and kept it all the way to the end. Although I could do without them going on and on about Holly. We already knew how she was going to be, and Trey’s apologizing was way too much. I did like how Deuce went with the flow and bit back when needed.
Deuce was just enjoying riding his bike home from work, to find that his apartment building was on fire. Deuce’s pretty pregnant dog was trapped inside. However there is one sexy fire fighter who is going to save the day. He in fact save’s the day in more ways than one.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next story. It was a major hit with me. I love a man in uniform, but let’s face it Deuce is the big hit for me. Love a smart man. I would definitely recommend this book.
