Blurb: What could be hunkier than a cowboy? Not much, according to Martin Du Bois. He convinces two friends that a visit to the rodeo is every gay man’s wet dream, and so the three of them gaily (and I do mean gaily) set off to watch cowboy asses in action.

A visit to a bar after the event gets Martin closer to the action than he ever thought possible, and he meets Jesse Cumberland, the man who caught his eye in the ring and made his rhinestones sparkle. Instant attraction leads to a one-night stand that gets under Martin’s insouciant skin and causes him to rethink his determination not to get involved emotionally. When Jesse invites Martin to his ranch, the visit is almost derailed by Martin’s realization that they lead very different lives. As a flaming city queer, he sees no way to fit with the solid, athletic Jesse. It’s up to Jesse to see if he can change Martin’s mind.

Review: I have not had a chance to read any books by this author but when I was searching through audibles for something to listen to the title of this caught my eye. Then I saw the cover and burst out laughing. I knew I had to check it out. The blurb was not only catchy but very quirky. I mean rhinestone cowboy came to my mind. It has its serious moments but the humor was fascinating as well.

Now when I first started listening to Cory’s voice for the guys I was at first not impressed. I mean they came off just wrong to my mind but the more I listened the more I saw that this was the perfect voice for each guy. I mean you have a feisty little guys going to their first rodeo. Oh that was just priceless. In the end I came to the conclusion that Cory was just perfect for this story.

Martin wanted to see cowboys and he was determined his friends were going to love it. I mean what is better than sexy cowboys, tight jeans and some hot action in tight jeans. What could possibly go wrong. Then afterwards the bar where the cowboys were suppose to go. I mean nothing could go wrong at all. There was one cowboy that stood out to him and it would seem that Jesse was just as interested.

Jesse wasn’t out but damn if his feelings for Martin weren’t getting stronger. Inviting Martin out to the ranch sounds perfect but will it work for them.

I loved Martin and hope to hear more about him and his friends. Martin is very out there and very colorfull. He is easy to fall in love with. To him he will be thirty soon and life is over. Which was a funny little statement.

Cory did great with this book and I look forward to hearing more. This story was cute and quite a bit of fun. I loved the humor that was coming out of this story but I also loved that there were some serious moments as well. I loved how it starts from the meeting, to the sly glances, hot sex and into something stronger with each character. Also they had their ups and downs like most couples have but that each were willing to fight for what they want.

I enjoyed this story and can’t wait to hear more from not only this author but the Narrator as well.

I loved listening to it and would definitely recommend it.

Blurb: Welcome to The Cage, where you can share the ups and downs of a group of friends as they enjoy a rollicking adventure of sex and love in “the life.”

Being a Dom has always come naturally to Lazar Thornton, owner and operator of The Cage, a thriving adult toy store and meeting place for Lazar’s closest friends, Bran, Max, Otto, and the always flamboyant and fierce Miss Dré. But even the best of friends have different tastes in scenes—and in life.

Good-humored and laid back, but much in demand as both teacher and Dom, Lazar has always run from love. Until Ben Owen, relative newbie to the BDSM world, arrives wide-eyed and eager to learn, and Lazar wants to teach this sub everything he knows. But despite the openness needed for a Dom/sub relationship to thrive, neither discusses emotions. Feeling the sting of unrequited love, Ben isn’t as sure of his place in Lazar’s life as he wants to be. Lazar will need to read his sub’s heart as well as his mind if he truly wants to keep Ben in his life.

Review: This was the first book I have read by this author and was quite surprised. I wasn’t so sure what to think however. The title caught me, but the cover had me wondering. It comes off so innocent, but with that title you know there is going to be some heart to it. I am not really sure about the lifestyle but these guys seemed to find their homes.

I have checked into the Dom/Sub lifestyle through many books, so there is some kink that sounds fascinating where as others just plain freak me out. Lazar is one hot Dom, and he owns The Cage. It is a story that sells adult toys and a place for them to meet up. He loves to teach others everything he knows, but damn when Ben comes in things are going to change.

Ben is new to the whole scene. He wants to learn, and he wants Lazar to teach him. Things heat up with them, but Ben wonders about where Lazar’s heart is. It doesn’t really give a place where they discuss what they are feeling though. However the sex between them is enough to get me hot.

This author has always given a story that captivates you and keeps your attention. Which is exactly what it did for me. I had fun with it and look forward to telling those about it. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story. I am still not sure after reading the story, if I like the lifestyle or not, but hearing about their scenes is a mighty fun read.

I look forward to seeing what other stories this author has out.

Review: What a lovely, lovely little story, so fun and funny and challenging. Yet, again with the difference of the characters. I loved it. I loved them.

Martin was O.M.Gee! Fabulous. The flamboyancy of that character was plain adorable and I don’t usually like the over-flaming characters. There’s this thing about them that is too much. But, God I loved mouthy, there-in-your-face Martin. I admit he scared me a bit there. I mean a sparkling, loud twink going to the rodeo, oh dear, surrounded by hot-headed men ready to bounce at the tip of the hat, yet still pushing and pushing. At some point I truly thought Marti must have had a death wish or something, but that was what made him so damn adorable and lovable.

And Jesse, now he was also quite charming and downright delicious. Ms. Ford has a real special way drawing cowboys in words. This entire world of bull-riders and bull-fighters is enthralling and I just can’t get enough of it. What a thrill it is reading about that all and how very fascinating descriptions yet again.

As for them both they really made quite a nice couple with a sparkling chemistry. It was absolutely gorgeous reading their “hookups”, hot and intense and sexy.

Yup, if you want a nice, fast, hot and sexy story with a cowboy and a city-twink this is definitely your read. I enjoyed it immensely.

Blurb: Aging bull rider Cody Grainger needs bullfighter Johnny Arrow for more than just protection in the ring. Their bond of trust goes beyond the professional and into love, but while their relationship holds up to the need for discretion imposed by their sport and repeatedly having to watch each other put themselves in the way of dangerous animals, other barriers still tear them apart.

For one thing, Cody is ten years older than Johnny. But instead of contemplating retirement, he focuses on winning the championship, desperate to stay on top. Johnny is only beginning to find the professional recognition he craves. When frustration leads Johnny to walk away, Cody’s season slumps. While they’re apart, they both slowly realize they are meant to be together. But machismo abounds in the sport of bull riding, and their pride might be an obstacle too big for love to overcome.

Review: What a wholesome book. I totally loved it and when the story didn’t go the “predicable” way, instead of putting me down, I loved it even more. For me this novel had it all. Everything you look for in a book was there; realistic characters that you fell in love with, with their flaws and insecurities and big egos; a plot that was amazing from start to finish, hooking and griping and interesting beyond words; and an incredible writing skill that left no room for losing concentration or feeling detached to the story. I think I’m going to be a great fan of this author, because she really made me live this story. feel every emotion she so generously shared and read a book that seemed as if she picked it up right from the arena of bull riding.

The characters Cody and Johnny were amazing. They have an age gap of ten years and as so they are in different stages of life. They are also completely different men.

Cody is a man whose life has been kind. He is a bull rider and his personality suits his profession. He’s strong-headed and persistent. He never gives up and has a thing of always getting what he wants. Even his family is perfect, with a loving father and mother who never batted an eye at his sexuality. He might not be out in the bull fighting world, but when he’s home he is truly free. Cody is a winner!

Johnny is Native American, and his life is the opposite of Cody. He has a mother that doesn’t want to hear about his sexuality, and a family he has to support economically due to poverty. He was never a good bull rider, but he is great at bull fighting. His ability to “read” the animals is astonishing and that’s what’s making him visible in the NBR world. His career is just starting.

This book explores these characters greatly. I get to see a man’s personality from all points of view; when they’re in love, when they are blind, when they are at their best and their worst. I loved the fact that the pair starts together and then splits up. I loved it that life and their wants came in their way the way life really does, full force. I loved it that they had to work it out and it didn’t happen from one day to the other. These characters learned and grew up in the story and that’s what made them appeal more to me.

But, I loved even more the fact that in addition to great characters there was a great, great plot as well that complemented them. The world of NBR was astonishing. I have read other books referring to bull riding, but the difference here was that this book literally took me there. Made me feel as if I was in that arena and behind the stage and in these people’s lives. I got to learn so much and in the end I became a fan as well, going online and Googling and watching on You-Tube and feeling as if I took more from this read than just a love story. It is amazing that this book also made me cry there at the end with Cody’s last performance. It was unexpected for me to feel it so much and therefore more cherished.

So, of course I recommend this book to anyone. It’s absolutely brilliant and intense and realistic. It provides enjoyment in all forms and it would be a shame to miss it.

Blurb: When Princess Lan’xiu’s brother delivers her under duress into General Hüi Wei’s harem as a political offering, her only question is how soon her secret will be discovered. She is under no illusions: when the general discovers she is actually a he, death is his only future—though he doesn’t plan to make it easy. Lan’xiu has dressed as a woman all his life, but he is no damsel in distress. He can swing a sword with the best of them.

General Hüi Wei has everything a man could want: power, wealth, success on the battlefield, and a harem of concubines. At first, he regards Lan’xiu with suspicion, but he finds himself strangely drawn to her. When he discovers the beautiful young woman is actually a man, his first reaction is to draw his sword. Rather than waste such beauty, he decides to enjoy the spirited Lan’xiu’s submission—and ignites a passion and desire deeper than anything he’s felt with other wives. But court intrigue, political ambitions, and the general’s doubts may be too much for their love to overcome.

A Timeless Dreams title: While reaction to same-sex relationships throughout time and across cultures has not always been positive, these stories celebrate M/M love in a manner that may address, minimize, or ignore historical stigma.

Review: Lan’xiu has been handed over as a gift to Hüi Wei, but it is also a sly plot by her brother Wu Min, after all Wu Min has looked at all the options and knows Hüi Wei will react badly when he uncovers Lan’xiu secrets. Lan’xiu knows she is facing certain death, Wu Min has made sure of that, but Hüi Wei surprises her with his reaction and even though things are going good between them, obstacles are thrown in their path and Lan’xiu begins to feel trapped. Hüi Wei surprises even himself with his reaction to Lan’xiu, there is a delicate balance that must be made but when he must go into battle Lan’xiu surprises them all.

This is a very well written novel which gives you a taste of historical China. I will be the first to admit that I don’t know much about Chinese timelines, so I haven’t been able to pinpoint a certain timeline although I would hazard a guess of 1600 – 1700 hundreds based on the clothing described. Lan’xiu has been disguised since birth as a girl; her mother even gave her a girl’s name as it was the only way to save her life. When her brother discovered the truth Lan’xiu knew her time was short. Meeting Hüi Wei changes her life for the better, although she does have to contend with the other concubines/wives, many of whom are lovely women, and feeling trapped in her new gilded cage.

Now I bet you’re thinking ‘her & she, I thought this was an M/M’, well let me reassure you, it is an M/M but you get pulled into thinking of Lan’xiu as ‘her & she’ because that is how everyone has always thought of her with only Ning (Lan’xiu’s eunuch) and her mother knowing the truth, so even Lan’xiu thinks of himself as ‘her’ even with knowing that he is male, after all it has saved her life and when Hüi Wei learns the truth he is also encouraged to think of Lan’xiu as female.

The storyline of this one is intriguing; a woman given as a gift to a governor and taken on as his concubine, adding to his stable of concubines/wives, having to become a member of an existing family and trying to find a place without stepping on anybody’s else’s toes, all the while having to keep a secret that could cost her life. Add in political maneuvering of one of the other concubines and a brother who wants more and more power and you have a story that is never dull. We also get to see some of the turmoil that Hüi Wei goes through about his feelings for Lan’xiu, and the confusion of Lan’xiu being a man.

Lan’xiu and Hüi Wei make a great couple but expectations of the time causes some troubles. I was surprised by how quickly they fell in love but it was very like soul-mates meeting. The sex between them is very hot, sometimes rough and passionate and other times gentle and sweet. The supporting characters are great and we get to know some of them quite well, I loved Ning, Mei Ju (First Wife) and Bai (fifth wife) they added a lot to the story and added some light relief at times.

I will recommend this to those who like historicals, political intrigue, betrayal, attempted murder, battles, sword fights, passionate love and a very happy ending.
