Blurb:  For eighteen years, Nathan Truman and Quinn Anders were best friends. One born of wealth and privilege, the other born to working people, Nathan and Quinn shared everything. Sports, music, first kiss, first love.
For sixteen years, Nathan has tried to forget Quinn. Tried to forget the stolen moments they’d shared as kids. He joined the Marines, married, not once but twice, went into law enforcement. He forgot.
For sixteen years, Quinn couldn’t stop remembering. He fell into addiction, found music, lost himself, and became a country music superstar. He never forgot.
Sixteen years after their one night together, tragedy conspires to reunite them.
Nathan and Quinn struggle to deal with their past while the present slowly crashes around them. Brought together by grief, their tentative new beginning may very well come to a sizzling end, leaving them both out in the cold forever.

Review:  This was so not what I was expecting from Mercy Celeste.  All the other books of hers, that I’ve read, were nice angsty contemporary romances.  Boy meets boy.  Boy acts the fool.  Boy forgives Boy.  Boys live happily ever after.

In From the Cold was that and so much more.  The suspense of this novel was pretty intense and there were several scenes, near the end, that were amazingly horrific.  If lifetime ever gets a clue and starts making LGBT moves, this would make a great movie.

“If you loved it so much, why not rate it a 5?”  Well, now that Mercy has opened the door to romantic suspense, I want more.  I want to see the evil in the bad guy, the fear in the good guys.  There’s a taste of that in In From the Cold, but I want more…sue me, I’m greedy.

There are 2 more books planned for this series and I look forward to seeing if Mercy can do it again.  I think she can.  Buy the book, read the book…then you decide.  Highly recommend!!

Pixie says: My favorite cover that I now have as my screen saver. Wonderful work from the incredibly talented Zathyn Priest.

Review: Oh My God, get the hoses out because while reading this you will need to be hosed down most of the way through.

Rylan Rivers has just turned 35 and has come to the realization that he wants more from his band mate, best friend and lover Gage Galeano than just the sex that they have had together and with others over the last 5 years. Gage knows what Rylan needs and he will provide it for the both of them if he can just get Rylan to listen.

Wow, this one had me hot right from the start; the opening scene is descriptive, explicit, well-crafted and incredible hot. We read with bated breath as these two men vie for dominance over the other and then we wait with our breath held as we watch Rylan’s reaction to Gage’s surprise.

This is a well written short that for me hit all the right buttons.  Rylan wants a commitment from Gage; he wants reassurance that he is the one for Gage without always having someone else involved.   But how does he tell Gage that without losing everything if Gage doesn’t feel the same way? Gage tries his best to get across to Rylan that he does know but Rylan misunderstands his present at first and is angry with Gage.

I really enjoyed this one and not just because of how hot it was.   I enjoyed it because Rylan and Gage really want the same thing but neither of them is very good at getting that point across to the other. I also liked that it was also a fun read with just enough humor to make you want more from these characters.

I have to recommend this one to everyone as it has a bit of conflict, dominance, incredible hot sex and a really good ending. I am now waiting on tender hooks as this author has promised us more from these two guys…yay.

Blurb: Sebastian St. Martin hates life…his life. Kicked out of his home at 17 by mortified and cruel parents, he hitched to California to make it big in Hollywood. He made it big in Hollywood, West Hollywood, as one of the most sought after rent boys the city has seen. No movies, no TV, no commercials.

Now, three years later, Bastian is cynical, jaded, uncompromising and believes the worst in everyone but his best friend, Hunter. Hunter taught Bastian everything he knows about pleasing a man. But Hunter broke his own number one rule. Never go bareback. Thinking he was in love, now Hunter is paying the price…with his life.

Between taking care of his sick friend, earning a living selling himself, giving up on his dreams, Bastian wonders why it’s even worth it. And love? Yeah, whatever. Love is for idiots. Hunter proved that. Love will hurt you and get you killed…slowly and painfully.

=========

Alistair is tired. Tired of one night stands. Tired of his friends hooking him up like it is their God-given mission to find him the man of his dreams. The One. Mr. Right. It just wasn’t going to happen.

And his 30th birthday was looming too fast. It was depressing. He was just thankful his practice kept him busy. Maybe he could pretend he wasn’t turning a year older. Ignore the date; maybe work the night shift at the hospital. Lose himself in his research. If his friends would let him, that is.

Then Alistair met Bastian. The exquisite young man with enough compassion to bring in a very sick friend in the middle of the night. And Alistair would suddenly do anything to save the life of this beautiful man’s friend. Would bend over backwards to bring a smile to Bastian’s face and take away the pain and anger from his deep blue eyes.

Can a doctor, scared of hitting mid-life without love convince a young, cynical rent boy that life can be fulfilling and worth every minute…with the right person?

Warning: This book contains content that might be offense to some readers. M/M intercourse, vague consent, prostitution

Review: Wow was info on this book hard to find and believe me I searched everywhere, it was actually an accident that I found C.R. Guiliano’s blog and that was only because I was following Amber Kell’s birthday extravaganza (oh, shut up, like you haven’t been.) The link above is the only one that I found that actually sells her book, the other one said ‘Not currently available’. I have taken a guess that it is self-published as I could find no details for a publisher. So you’re asking ‘why didn’t you do a search of the author’s name?’ err well the problem being that my review copy didn’t come with an author’s name but hey-ho it’s sorted now.

So to the actually book… why the hell hasn’t this author been snatched up by a publishing firm I really don’t know but I will tell you that they are missing out.

I really can’t add much to the blurb because it says it all.  But these characters are people who you will come to care for a great deal.  you have Bastian who loves his best friend like a brother and will do anything for him, including making sure he gets all the medication he needs, even if that means he has to take on more clients to be able to afford it. You have Alistair who is sick of one night stands and short-term relationships and wants more but he is also a little depressed as his 30th birthday is coming up and he feels that he has achieved nothing. You have Hunter who made one mistake and now he is suffering with it, his lover deserted him after infecting him, Bastian has stuck by him but he just seems to be getting sicker but with Alistair’s help that will all change.

I thought this was a well written story and yes, it is love and lust at first sight.  But that doesn’t mean it is easy for Bastian and Alistair. In fact, Bastian runs the other way because he believes that Alistair will never want him when he realizes the truth of Bastian’s occupation. All the characters are good and realistic, there are quite a few sex scenes that relate to Bastian’s job but he does have a really hot kiss with Alistair. This story left me feeling good with a warm feeling that love can conquer all and I really liked the fact that Hunter found love as well.

So, I will recommend this book to those who love hot sex, a bit of angst, a really good story and a happy ending for everyone.

Review: Leven is a young man with anger issues.  He has been passed around foster families before he is taken on by Ruth and Alex where he manages to settle in and be accepted.

This is a well written book that has a very good plot and a rock solid story-line. The first third of the book is based in London.  We see Leven at 9 years old trying to drive Ruth and Alex away when they want to foster him.  Then with his first boyfriend at 16 years old and the disaster when Sean’s parents find them.   His heartbreak and loss at 18 years old when his adoptive mother dies and then his fear when a mysterious letter arrives and he knows that it will change everything for him.  So we get a great build up for the rest of the book which is set in the Orkney Islands.

The setting that we get for the Orkney Islands is incredible and sets the tone for the rest of the book perfectly; it’s dark, menacing and threatening. It’s as though the very weather with the wind, rain and pounding waves trying to warn Leven that there is danger when he first arrives. What we then get is Leven trying to get to the bottom of a mystery that he has only had a slight hint of and nobody willing or able to help him solve it. As he uncovers the truth he is immersed in Myth and Legend that he finds difficult to believe, but he must if he is going to save not just himself but all the inhabitants of the island. Leven’s relationship with Dom is fraught with difficulty and tension as they both have to learn to trust the other.

A fantastic story that I highly recommend… this is for those who love the paranormal, Myths, danger and an ending that will touch your heart.
