Blurb: Dax: My life ended six years ago. No, really. I was dead on the side of the road following a gruesome motorcycle accident. From what I’ve been told, it’s only because of one stubborn man that I have another chance to make something of my life. I no longer hate him for screwing up what I thought I wanted. I want to thank him.

NEED to tell him what his actions mean to me.

Now, I’m headed back to the town I’ve never set foot in even though it’s a huge part of my life. I’m not thrilled about that, but the job offers haven’t exactly been flowing in. They’ll probably think I’m crazy, because there’s no way I won’t be able to look at every guy I walk past, wondering if he’s the one who saved me.

Michael: My entire life, I wanted to save lives. I’d earned a full-ride scholarship and had been accepted to med schools across the country. I was so close to making those dreams a reality until the night held a dying man in my arms. I’ve never been able to get the images of his lifeless body caked in mud out of my head. Even when the paramedics tried to take over trying to save him, I couldn’t let go. I never let go. Eventually, my guilt over not doing more cost me everything but my son. And now, I worry I’ll lose him if I don’t get it together.

I’ve often thought that if I could find him, maybe I could get some closure and finally get my life back on track. Now he’s here and I’m more of a mess than ever. Once the truth comes out, will he keep trying to save me or will he realize that it’s too late?

Review: Sloan has always managed to give a reader a story that will draw them in and keep them captivated. I have enjoyed reading her stories although this one I am not really sure. It just seemed to be missing something to be perfect but I couldn’t put my hands on it. It was well written with a lot of depth to it. The story itself was very entertaining and a bit of a tear jerker.

This is a story about a man having a second chance at life. It is a very touching story about how someone can turn their lives around but it also shows how one can cause harm in their lives without the meaning to. It has a lot of heart in the story and to me has a little life lesson hidden in the story. This story is meant to be soft, tender, loving and sweet. She pulled this off.

Dax had been injured in a motorcycle accident that almost cost him his life. Now he has come back to the town that he really had not wanted to. However he wanted to thank the one man who saves his life. Michael has had a wonderful life but it was mixed with the pain of losing his wife. He was now raising his son the best he could do. Now Dax wanted to not only thank him but help him. Feelings start slowly with these two but soon they find themselves in love.

Now for me it is hard to see how Michael went from straight to gay, but it turned out perfect for this story. The subject of how Dax was injured and almost dying is a tender subject, but only because a friend’s fiancé just wrecked his cycle a few days ago and will be in the hospital for a very long time healing. It actually made this story more real for me. Then there is the fact that these two guys are just perfect for each other, a bonus for me.

I enjoyed reading this story and would definitely be interested in more stories from this author. I wished the ending was a bit more however it doesn’t take away from the story.

I would definitely recommend this book.
