Review: This book is part of a series and is best read/listened to in order.

Scott is struggling not only with his part in what happened to Tripp but his own sexuality. With the help of his dear friend and beard Brandy he has made some decisions. First: to confront Tripp and Marty. Tripp gets him to work in the LGBT rodeo circuit helping him train bull riders and to perhaps work back into getting ready to ride himself again after being out of the rodeo for over 2 years.

When Scott meets Cory, a sweet pickup man that battles harassment but still holds his own and never seems down. They develop a fast friendship. Scott soon feels more but isn’t quite ready to deal with it yet.

I have been waiting for Scott’s story. He was the man you loved to hate through the entire series so far. Now to see why he was so angry and full of hate was intriguing. I liked that there was so much going on here. I liked finding out why Scott had a thing against being gay and that he faced that as well as Tripp and Marty.  I liked the slow burn between Scott and Cory and the friends to lovers plot.

Dorian Bane is a great choice of narrator for this series. He has a deep rustic voice for Scott, yet he was able to pull off Cory’s sweeter, softer voice as well. He makes it easy to follow all the characters and pulls you deep into the story.

If you like rodeos, pickup men, coming out, friend to lovers and second chances (at friendships and other relationships) you will love this!

This is a book three in the series You can read or listen as a standalone as the backstory is worked in well but I highly recommend reading (or listening to the other two books first.) If you like cowboys, you won’t be sorry!

Blurb:   When his flight home for his brother’s birthday is canceled due to a Category 5 hurricane on the Eastern seaboard, art major Evan McGrath places an ad on Craigslist for a rideshare from Colorado to South Carolina. He hadn’t expected an immediate reply, nor had he expected to fall head-over-heels for the handsome and mysterious driver, Lucas Briscoe.

As the miles disappear behind them Evan grows more and more attracted to the enigmatic Lucas, and the desire is mutual. The only problem is that a serial killer dubbed “The Domino Slasher” has just escaped a federal prison transfer, and funny little coincidences keep pointing toward Lucas – who looks like Heaven incarnate, but who could be the Devil in disguise.

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices, violence.

Review:  Hurricane Rex has derailed Evan’s flight plans home. Thankfully, an impulsive listing on Craig’s List has yielded a ride share to South Carolina.  He was all set to endure 3 days in a car with a stranger. But, after meeting Lucas, he’s thinking these 3 days might be more like riding with Heaven.

I. Loved. This. Book.  This is definitely one that goes into my “should be a movie” pile.  Evan and Lucas are steamy together.  After the “is he…isn’t he” question gets answered, they screw their way from Denver to the Carolinas. But, it was the suspense element that had me clicking my eReader at the speed of light.  Oh, yeah.  I forgot to mention, there’s an escaped serial killer on the loose and uh…it might be Lucas. The author had me guessing right up until the end.

This one has it all; lots of hot sex, great chemistry between the main characters, beautifully executed suspense and a brilliant climax. I recommend this title to readers who like their loving explicit, the good guys smart and snarky and the bad guys not so easy to spot.  Highly recommending.

Blurb:  Fourth generation rancher, Ray Ford has lived a lie for nearly forty years. Having seen what can happen to an openly gay cowboy in small town America, and not willing to risk Ford Creek’s legendary reputation, he keeps that part of himself tightly locked down. Everything changes one Sunday morning when Ray, out of character, picks up a handsome hitchhiker looking for work. Hiring the enigmatic cowboy stretches the bounds of Ray’s control and forces him to question just how much he’s willing to risk for that one true love.

Travis Morgan learned a hard lesson early in his life – love was conditional. Even though he’s a world-class horse trainer in high-demand, he lives the life of a drifter, moving from ranch to ranch like the wind. He’ll play when the opportunity arises, but he won’t invest himself emotionally. But when he takes on the job training horses at Ford Creek Ranch, the stoic rancher with the sexy five o’clock shadow just might change all that – if Travis can take the risk and stick around long enough to find out.

Review:  The title grabbed my attention, the blurb sealed the deal… cowboys. Yup, there’s always room in my reading lineup for cowboys. Yet all too often I’m disappointed and end up with an “Awe shucks, giddy up partner” story – but not today. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the brainless, boinking good time had in those stories, but there’s something to be said about a story about grownups for grownups.

L.C. Chase has crafted a tale you can sink your teeth into. The characters are not flat and one dimensional but well rounded and you’re given a decent understanding to what motivates their actions and responses.

Ray is deeply in the closet and trapped there by the fear of what will happen if found out. This fear is reinforced by having witnessed the atrocious acts of hate that befell a gay couple once discovered years ago and the knowledge that his late father was an eager participant with many others in town. So Ray has found a way to balance the demands of his life on the ranch and his needs as a gay man – but never the twain shall meet.

Trevor Morgan has a deeply painful past having been betrayed by his family once his father discovered him kissing a boy at 15, leaving him beaten and homeless. He’s managed to overcome these obstacles and garner the reputation as a renowned horse trainer and is elusive as the wind. Trevor never sets down roots and has learned to keep moving since rumors of his sexual preference continue to arise and taint his working relationships.

Can’t you just feel the angst? Two sexy alpha males fighting to stay in the closet, but the attraction is just too delicious to resist the pull. The author did a wonderful job of letting the tension build to a crescendo and didn’t rush to the cowboy lovin’. And while you’re rooting for them to get it together and make it work – you’re worried right along with the characters about what will happen when/if it all comes out. That’s just good writing.
