The human survivors claim the XO and her Lunaran fellows went mad and killed everyone, but Soran has her doubts.

Following Aster’s testimony, as well as clues left behind, Soran embarks on a fact-finding mission to retrace the colony’s last steps before disaster struck.

Death Days

by

Lia Cooper

By day, Professor Nicholas Littman works as an itinerant professor at a small college in the Pacific Northwest. He teaches seminars on mythology and the intersections of folklore and magic in the ancient world. By night, he’s the local necromancer, a rare magical talent that has left him alienated from other practitioners.

All Nick wants from life is to be left alone to run his magical experiments and teach kids the historical context of magic without anyone being the wiser. Unfortunately, his family is sworn to sit on the council of the Order of the Green Book—a group of magicians dating back to the Crusades—and they aren’t willing to take Nick’s no for an answer.

As though that wasn’t bad enough, a coven of Night Women has arrived in town, warning Nick that there are wolves at his door he had better take care of. But what can one necromancer do when every natural and supernatural card seems stacked against him?

At least, that’s what he tells himself. But it’s hard to hold onto his more hermit-like habits when Avery O’Sullivan blows back into town. The sweet–if hapless–writer is hardly prepared for Belleville’s harsh winters, and Jordan can’t help inviting the other man into his home for the holidays.

Two strangers find happiness between a dozen cups of coffee and writer’s block in this sweet M/M short romance. A Palouse County Romance #1 featuring stories big and small from Eastern Washington.

Review: Jordan runs the local coffee shop in a small town. He has been alone since his partner left him seven years ago in the middle of renovation for the coffee shop. Avery was the son of the local sheriff and has not been back to the town since his mother divorced his father when he was young. After his father died, Avery was left everything, including a rundown house.

The two men get to know each other over Avery’s daily early morning trips to the coffee shop for his morning addiction. As each man slowly gets to know the other, their attraction grows. There is little angst or drama as the two fumble their way to a relationship.

Very nice read if looking for something on the sweet side of things.

Review: At the start of book two in the series, Ethan and Patrick have gone their separate ways. Patrick now has a new partner they get a case of buried bodies being disturbed and missing a few piece. Ethan is back to working solo on misdemeanors and sleeping around. He even gets involved with a woman. Meanwhile Patrick is going through a very rough patch with missing his mate and this is affecting his whole attitude

Ethan gets a case about with an old man and disturbances at his house. Everyone thinks he has dementia and there is nothing really there. Even Ethan thinks so, but he keeps going when the old man calls him. During all this, Ethan keeps having dreams and can barely sleep. Hence the sleeping around. He has no clue what is going on with him and his magic is now acting weird. His magically friends know but won’t tell him. He has no clue that he mated to Patrick and that the bound is causing side effects.

Eventually the two cases merge together and they figure out what is really going on. The effect of Patrick and Ethan working together again is immediate. The bound is there pulling them together. Ethan has no clue and Patrick is too afraid to say anything with them each thinking it was the other who walked away. As they solve the case things finally get a little more settled between them.

However, nothing it perfect yet. There are still many threads hanging and issues unresolved. There is still the question about what the hell Ethan’s father wants. The relationship with Patrick and Ethan is far from figured out.

I cannot wait until the final book. I need to get the answers to the questions I still have. So I will be patiently waiting for the final installment. *sigh* I hate waiting.

Blurb: Everyone knows magic users and werewolves are intrinsically diametrically opposed…

Seattle Police Detective Ethan Ellison, born into a long line of Quebecois magicians, leads a fairly unassuming life working Theft and consulting on magical misdemeanors. He’s spent eight years building a life for himself in Seattle, far from his father’s shadow. He works hard, lives under the radar, and fucks whoever catches his eye.

Detective Patrick Clanahan, beta-heir to Pack McClanahan, is a tightly wired bundle of rage and guilt, still trying to come to terms with the murder of his last partner.

When a human woman is murdered in werewolf territory under suspicious circumstances, Ethan is reassigned to worked the case with Clanahan in the hopes that he’ll be able to balance out the wolf’s rougher edges.

Too bad they mostly just rub each other the wrong way.

Review: A young woman is murdered but what looks like a wild animal. Patrick is assigned the case and receives a new temporary partner, Ethan. The two clash from the start. But damn it’s funny some of their arguments. Patrick is the growly bad-tempered wolf, and Ethan the sarcastic wise ass.

As Ethan and Patrick dig into the murder, more and more questions are brought up then answers.

Ethan has built a new life for himself, after getting away from his father and family, as well as a former lover. He is living his life the way he wants too, and sleeps with whom he wants. He is also a magic user, but not a very strong one. But still the humans do not tend to trust him, even the police he works with. So he is a bit of loner on the force. Until is captain decides it’s a good idea to assign him to a murder case.

Patrick still feels guilt for not being there when his last partner was killed on duty. So he is not happy about getting a partner. And Ethan does not help matters with his wiseass comments and inability to keep his mouth shut. Also, Patrick’s sense of smell knows what Ethan has been up to at night. So there are few tense moments between them, as well as some funny ass exchanges.

This is book one in a trilogy, so there are two more books to come. Which I am very glad for. This book gives a unique twist on the paranormal world. The laugh out loud moments, the tension, and the intrigue all draw me into this world. This is a highly entertaining read. And I want more.
