Blurb: They say the course of true love never runs smooth, and Detective Ben Nelson is learning the truth of that adage in a big way. Two months ago, his lover Artie Middleton was tortured by demons determined to claim the psychic’s special gifts for their own.

Now the same friends who helped Ben with the rescue are making a strong case that something about Artie isn’t right. When Artie verbally attacks his best friend, Ben is forced to acknowledge the unbreakable barriers surrounding Artie’s mind.

Searching for someone with the right gifts to help, Ben encounters a woman who insists there’s only one way—and one person—who stands a chance at saving Artie. What Ben finds when he goes on his solo rescue mission may very well mean both of their deaths, as they confront the evil that has made Artie’s mind the Devil’s playground.

Review  You definitely need to read the series in order and I suggest the entire collection or you may feel a bit lost about some of these characters.

This story picks up where the last left off with Ben looking for Artie. Artie is a physic with special powers and though he is home he seems lost and withdrawn. Ben is determined to do whatever it takes to brig Artie back and keep him safe.

This story is so good that you can’t put it down and want more when you are done. There is so much action it keeps you flipping the page and sitting on pins and needles! I have no nails left!

Ben and Arties characters just get more and more complex as we go and their love is to die for!

If you like action packed series, collaborations, complex characters, vampires, demons, shifters, ghost dogs, you name it if its supernatural or paranormal it’s probably here! Plus it’s an awesome romance!

Review: This is book two of the Four of Clubs Series and book 7 of the pulp friction altered states collection. You do need to read each series in order. Though you don’t have to read the entire collection in order you would understand things much better if you do.

Artie doesn’t know what to do when the doctors convince Ben’s parents to pull the plug. He is sure after the one touch that Ben isn’t supposed to die since he saw them together in Ben’s mind.
When he talks to his friends Sabine he relents to letting Tempest visit. Tempest thinks she can help but it won’t be easy.

Of course if it had been easy we wouldn’t have had such an interesting nail-biting story. I sat on the edge of my chair wondering what was going to happen next. There was a cute surprise when Sabine visited Artie. I love this new addition. (I am not going to spoil it for ya.)

The poker game was lighthearted and helped to break up the drama until, of course, the darn cliffhanger ending!

What city where ghost stories and magic are prevalent would make a better setting for this story than New Orleans? I can’t think of any. With the perfect backdrop, a sexy array of supernatural, paranormal and superhuman, mystery drama and hot mansex, this collection of stories make a perfect summer read.

If you like ghosts, werewolves, physics, sex-demons, vampires witches and no telling what else may pop up, suspense drama, mystery and some romance this is for you!

Review: Oh my God, what a disturbing, distressing, and utterly frustrating read. I finished this yesterday, slept through the night thinking about it, and still feel frustrated with so many things. I know half of them were intentional from the authors to awaken reactions, but I fear, what made the worse impact with me was not deliberate. You got no idea what I’m talking about right? Let’s see:

This is the story of eighteen-year-old Scott who’s lived a sheltered life, the life his parents has dictated for him. He’s been homeschooled, kept away from society, literally a prisoner of his parent’s whims. Through sheer luck, Scott gains access to internet and a new world opens in front of his eyes. He is naïve, beyond anything you might have as a comparison, but I was okay with that, it happens and when a child is in that manner abused, it is probably a norm.
In his naivety, Scott falls pray of a man from England, who buys him an A’ class ticket there. And after being nearly desperate to get away from his parent clutches, Scott finds himself on a plane and in a new country across the ocean.

Cringe-worthy I ensure you and this is only the beginning scene. The story itself is not so much explicit, it doesn’t affect you with horrors or cruelty per se, and it’s rather the what-could-have-been that makes you reel from it.

At the airport, Scott is not claimed by Jeff, the guy who told him he loved him. He sits there in near panic thinking over and over how not worthy he is, how no one wants him, no one will ever take care of him, and how no one will love him enough to care. Yes, you got it right. This character suffers from a huge deal of low self-esteem. He is prime victim material. Honestly, I didn’t very much like him. He was so, so needy and the fact that the phrase “he needs a keeper” was repeated more than twice in the book makes you understand just how much this character needs. Yes, in the long go he rises, blooms, and flourishes, but still Scott never made a lasting impression to me. I don’t think I ever found this one the least lovable. Nevertheless, he was quite developed as a character and the initial impression (it was NOT favorable) did change for me by the end of the story.

Now, what happened to Scott is that Ben showed up. Ben works as a bar tender at Collars and Cuffs, and is a Dom in training. He also is in the middle of so, so many things. He pays for his mother’s health care, pays for his sister, pays for himself… All he seems to do is pay around and never making ends meet. Ben has just said his goodbyes to his sister at the airport when he notices Scott’s distressed appearance. The Dom in him awakens and feels the need to help the poor creature, and so he does, taking him back at the club and together with Leo and Thomas, they take it upon them to help the needy boy. But of course, Scott will have to stay with Ben.

So, you see where the story goes and how the beginning of feelings/emotions will happen. There are aspects of the story that did so not sit well with me. One is the fact that Scott is a virgin. Totally a virgin… For me that fact is huge, because at some point he decides that he is submissive (that was obvious the way the story went) and he trains for one even as he’s still a virgin. His virginity is not downplayed though; it’s rather a huge deal and takes a big, big part of the plot/scene there. But still it somehow unnerved me, the blend of submission/virginity. I could not picture it. I simply read it and was trying to wrap my head around it. In the end, I did wrap my head around it, and whew, did I like the result. It was hot, surreal, but hot.

Ben though, while he made one heck of an impression to me, managed not only to fail, but also to really, really piss me off as a character. I think this was the one weak (really weak) point of this book, the fact that this main character did not manage to redeem himself in my eyes. Perhaps the authors though it would be enough for him to go claim Scott like a knight in shining armor, but no. Just. No.
In my eyes Ben is, was, and will be a bloody idiot of a man. The trust was broken, not once, not twice, but goddamn it, what freaking trust? He was one lucky son of a bitch to have such a naïve and needy boy, because a more seasoned sub would have dumped him to the curb. I wondered how the hell Thomas (his trainer) let him go with the shit he pulled. Ben was effectively the chinking link. He never managed to make a connection with me, and the frustration he caused me, dear me, I’m still breathing heavily from all that. He should not have gotten what he got, the jerk.

Yeah, excuse my rant. I thought I had relaxed enough today to be able to write this without seeing red with Ben. Apparently, I’m not. Authors, I really hate this character of yours.

Overall, it was a very nice book, quite enjoyable. The writing was easy in the eyes, the pace flowed like silk, and even though the characters frustrated me, the story itself held my interest throughout the read. The erotic scenes such as they were, heh, they appealed to me a lot. I found the edging a bit surreal mind you, because he was a virgin and come on, there is no way a young boy not trained to hold his orgasm, could possibly hold his orgasm like that, but damn, it was so, so hot anyway. And fun, yeah, when things finally took their path, the story became quite fun as well.

So, do I recommend it? Yep, I do. Bear in mind all the above and if you’re fans of the genre you might find this read as enjoyable as I did. Just don’t let Ben’s stupidity catch off guard. God that character. *groans*

Blurb:  Lucas Manetti has had sex with some very hot men, so why is it can’t get one average man out of his mind?

Lucas doesn’t want attachments. He thinks life is much easier that way. Watching the way his mom suffered when his father was dying taught him that. Nevertheless, deep down, Lucas likes the idea of someone taking care of him, of coming home to the same person every night. Yeah, what Lucas really wants is love. So why is he settling for random quick sex in seedy bathrooms? Kyle has been taking care of Lucas’ car forever. So for Lucas, it’s a logical step to think of Kyle taking care of him. And he has so much, that he can offer Kyle—whether Kyle wants it or not. So imagine Lucas’ surprise when Kyle isn’t particularly enamoured of Lucas’ ‘proposition’. Lucas thought his money would buy him anything. Then he realizes…boy, did he get it wrong. He’s so busy reeling from the shock that he almost misses what—or who—has been waiting for him all this time.

Review:  The characters in this story are written as real people. Lucas to the point, that at the start of this story I wasn’t sure I liked him at all. He’s a snob pure and simple. Yet when you read about his mom, you start to understand his attitude. He’s of the opinion that his money can buy him if not love, at least caring. And he has the perfect choice for the man to be grateful for Lucas’attention and money. Kyle, his mechanic. Kyle takes care of his car and with his money, Kyle should be grateful for the chance to take care of Lucas. But, Kyle isn’t grateful, and his husband isn’t grateful.  And Lucas is devastated.  Going to his favourite bar, John the bartender takes care of him, even when he doesn’t want the help.  John is just an average guy, so will Lucas see beyond that to the caring person John is?

This was a wonderful story that flows, well written, easy to read with engaging characters. I enjoyed it immensely.

Review: Mark has been in love with Jase since he was fourteen. When Jase and Mark’s brother Eric join the army, Mark is devastated but he lives for the tapes that Jase sends. But, Mark is devastated when Jase admits he’s fallen in love. And, although Mark tries to get on with his life, the hurt still lingers. When Eric comes home and says Jase needs Mark, the truth comes pouring out, and Mark has to see if he can get over his lingering hurt to help Jase the man he still loves.

This fabulous short story has everything you could want and leaves you feeling satisfied. The story is written over a period of years and the way it is written is very smooth, the transition of flow is flawless. We start out when Mark is fourteen and Jase seventeen. Mark’s hero worship/crush develops into love and then Jase is leaving for the army, leaving Mark a tape. Over the next little while, we see Mark receive more tapes and it just strengthens his love until the day he is told by Jase that he has found love. Mark’s devastation leaps off the page.

Although this is, only a short story it packs a punch. It has a touch of angst, forgiveness, and pure love. What I loved most about this story is that when the truth came out Mark reacted, but didn’t linger too long on it. He faced what was done and finally understood why and he didn’t throw it in Jase’s face. There is angst, but then again it’s teenage first love angst. There are no harsh recriminations and Mark is actually shown to be much older than his years with his actions. Jase does what he thinks is right and you had to admire that about him. When he comes home from the army its one blow after another and the support he finds from Mark and his family just warms your heart.

I have to recommend this to everyone, it is just the perfect short read for some happy ever after that leaves a smile on your face.
