Blurb: Kaden Pace, a soldier injured while on a mission, hides the extent of his damage by wearing his high-tech armor, desperate to prove his worth to his administrators and make himself useful in order to hold on to his independence. But during a simple assignment to escort two cadets across the country to retrieve the armor of a dead warrior, things start to fall apart.

They meet Shun, a young man with a secret, who steals the armor they were supposed to recover. Chasing Shun brings them to an abandoned town, where they encounter even more trouble. Stranded in the deserted city, Kaden finds himself relying more and more on Shun, the person he’d come to capture, while fighting off an invasion from the neighboring country.

But even when he returns to camp, Kaden’s problems are not over. Now he has to find a way to save Shun, whom he’s growing to care for, and keep his team alive as they make one last-ditch attempt to get back the armor Shun stole. Armor that is now in enemy hands, on an island in the middle of the sea, at Ground Zero where it all began.

Review: Kaden was orphaned by war, joining the army was for the security of three meals a day, as rumors fly that the Army was going to send anyone who was not ready to join the armored unit back to the orphanages for another three years has Kaden trying out for the armored unit. Injured while on a mission Kaden is now desperate to prove that he is still an asset before anyone realizes the extent of his injuries. Sent on a simple mission to oversee two cadets (Wayland and Bradley) retrieving the armor of a dead warrior, things begin to go wrong.

Shun has one mission in mind, destroy the armor of the man who hurt his mother. Meeting up with three armored warriors gives Shun the perfect opportunity to exact his revenge… but things go drastically wrong when he confides in a friend.

Kaden is a fantastic character; he has a strength of will that just jumps off the page. Shun is a little harder to get a grip on as a character as the story is from Kaden’s perspective, but he seems to be a great man who is a little naïve and a little too trusting with those he calls friends.

Their relationship gets off to a rocky start… what with Shun nicking the armor that Kaden was trying to retrieve! But they quickly start to semi trust each other when they have to work together to get it back from the man who stole all the armor units when Shun is betrayed. Their trust builds quickly though and their physical reaction to each other helps a lot with that, and their relationship does move quickly although it isn’t an easy one.

Wayland and Bradley (the cadets) also play a large part in this story; they have their own problems with each other due to sibling rivalry, both girls trying to prove themselves so it’s gets a little sticky at times as their resentment spills over.

The storyline is amazing, we have fantastic armor that is so much more than any of them realize, then we have the danger that seems to lurk everywhere, there’s loads of action as they try to get the armor back and then we also have a huge great doozy of a surprise that just comes out of nowhere and leaves you gobsmacked as the ramifications hit you.

This is a well-crafted story that shows us the strengths of the characters as well as their weaknesses, it shows a love that begins to blossom in really hard times, it throws you into settings that come alive around you and it reveals treachery from unexpected quarters.

I recommend this story to those who love science fiction that is laced with mystery and suspense, who adore characters who will overcome any obstacles to prove their worth, who love difficult love stories, and an ending that is just the beginning.

Blurb: Kidnapping was not Daniel’s plan, but when he met a man who seemed unaffected by his magic, Daniel couldn’t just let him go.

Eren has every reason to hate Daniel, and no reason at all to like him. He’s not some fairytale to be kept in a glass room at the top of a tower. And he’s definitely going to have to rescue himself. He has a mother and girlfriend to get back to, after all, and a life waiting for him.

But the hardest part of escaping proves to be his reluctance to leave a man who is much more than he at first seemed…

Review: Daniel lost his childhood and almost his life due to his parent’s misguided attempt to bring him closer to his magic. The result is a bitter, powerful man who cannot love anyone because his very touch could kill them. That is until he meets Eren and accidentally touches him. Eren is immune to Daniel’s magic. He is also immune to Daniel’s charm.

When a misguided attempt at flirting ends with Eren injured, Daniel takes him to his home for him to heal. So enamored with the ability to touch someone, Daniel builds a cell of glass to hold his crush, indefinitely. In a twisted case of Stockholm Syndrome, Eren starts the journey hating Daniel completely defiant for being held against his will. Then an attempt to seduce Daniel and escape shows Eren just how vulnerable the Glass Prince really is.

I really liked the concept of this story, a world where magic is the norm and this one man holds so much power, yet he cannot love because he cannot touch. It seems like a slam-dunk that the person he can touch would be his match, alas, it is never that easy. I enjoyed the banter between Daniel and Eren while they were trapped in the glass tower, and how once Eren learned Daniels story of how he became what he is it changed his perception of him.

The ending, however, was anti climatic for me and the extreme vulnerability Daniel displayed in the end not quite believable or in sync with his character throughout the entire story. This was just an okay read for me. If you like stories about magic and unlikely love stories, you may like this one as well.

Review: A brief rundown: Gavin works at a University under the supervision of a Professor that is a staunch vampire hater.  One evening coming home from school, a mugger attacks Gavin and a member of the night watch saves him. The Night Watch is a vampire group that helps protect humans.  He finds Dillon interesting and wants to know more about vampires but his professor drags him into the Anti-vampire movement.

I really loved this story! The story line has multi stories that blend quite well without over complicating the story. There are twists, intrigue and mystery. The romance isn’t in your face and moves slowly. For a short story, this is very well done and wraps up all loose ends and comes to a very satisfying conclusion. This is an author I will be watching for more!

If you like Vamps that don’t sparkle, intrigue, and a bit of romance this is a great read!

Blurb: Kit Mason works at Eddy’s, a boutique where the clothes are chic, the paycheck’s weak, and Kit has no qualms about snagging rich older men looking to pay for play. When Cory St. James walks in, he checks all Kit’s boxes: he’s middle-aged, the entrepreneur of a pharmaceutical company, and already has a kept boy at home—what’s one more? Kit sets out to seduce Cory and bulldozes through his denials, but when Cory finally gives in, his lover, Sasha, catches them with their pants down.

Sasha isn’t the pampered toy Kit expected. In fact, Kit may have misjudged him. And the consequences that ensue when Sasha catches Kit and Cory together leave him alone. Unwilling to be weighed down by guilt, Kit decides to look after Sasha himself, even if Sasha can’t stand the sight of him and there are a few things about Kit’s past he doesn’t want Sasha to know. But Kit isn’t willing to do all the work when it comes to forcing Sasha to rebuild his life. It’s a slow process of growing trust and learning to stand on their own—and together.

Review: Kit is always on the lookout for a mark, a rich older man who will pay to play. When Cory walks into the boutique where Kit works and ticks all of Kit’s boxes, Kit is tenuous in his pursuit and refuses to take no for an answer. Even knowing Cory has a live-in lover, Sasha. When Cory finally caves under Kit’s relentless pursuit, Sasha catches them. Now Sasha is left alone and Kit feels guilt over his actions. Checking to make sure Sasha is alright ends with Kit trying to get Sasha to rebuild his life. But Sasha hates him and it is a fight of wills.

Well, what can I say about this book other than it twists your emotions as the full story enfolds. Kit is not a likeable man. In fact, for the first half of the book you would like nothing better than to plant a fist in his face. Kit is callus and self-centred, he pursues rich older men with the sole purpose of sex for gifts or money and he doesn’t give a damn who gets hurt from his actions, until the day he meets Sasha. Sasha is a man who has been through hell and now he has a new fight on his hands because some man wanted his lover and it all went wrong.

Before we go any further this isn’t a romance as such. Yes, some feelings develop and Sasha and Kit become close, but there is so much more going on like Kit’s growth as a person and Sasha’s recovery, an understanding of sorts grows between them and it is a minefield. There isn’t any warm fuzzies as you read this book. We don’t get rainbows, unicorns and sunshine. what we do get is guilt, companionship and an understanding of sorts which is hard-won. The range of emotions that get dragged out of you is quite astounding; hate, disgust, pity, glee, admiration and hope are just a few. There are one or two powerful scenes like the scene where Cory and Kit get caught and then the scene outside the church.

The characters are splendidly written as they both draw you into this story seeing the awkward dance between them. A tenuous understanding that draws hope to them and the beginning of something developing between them. Sasha is a difficult character to get to know as he is very guarded and it is a while before you get his full story. Kit is a character that you aren’t sure you want to know, at first, but he does manage to redeem himself quite well and he is also a man who refuses to apologise for the way he is. But, he does improve the longer he helps Sasha.

I have to recommend this story to those that love hope and redemption, guilt, a great storyline, companionship and developing feelings, misunderstandings and beginning anew.
