Review:  I have enjoyed reading many stories both m/f and m/m over the years, but the moment I read a m/m romance I decided that I liked those best.  However I found myself more aligned with books that were written by females more than males.  Although I must admit that there are a few that surprise me.  Dirk Greyson was one of those authors.  This was the first book that I have read by him, and let me tell you that he has probably became one of my favorites just after reading this.

Now if you are anything like me you are more likely to read paranormals then contemporaries.  There is just something about the worlds that are created with these types of stories.  Dirk has managed to give us a unique story that I haven’t really heard in a long time.  They are fully developed and the characters are just about perfect.  I do have to admit that the cover of the book was just a bit creepy, but once I started reading the story I came to an understanding with it.  There is so much energy in this story and you can feel the heat, emotions, and action and so forth with this book.

Mikael has known since he was a small boy that his mate was going to be a man.  He had been visited by the mother and gifted from that time on.  There was a story passed on about dark wolves that were evil then others.  He just thought it was a story, until he was forced to watch a fight between alphas, a fight to the death.  He watched that dark wolf tear a man apart.  A man who had left behind a mate and two small children.  The fear of what was to come led him to contact another pack to help each other in the upcoming times.  To his surprise the alpha of the other pack just so happened to be his fated mate.

Denton was a strong alpha but he knew he was not supposed to be.  He had gotten the title after he took out his old alpha who was leading the pack the wrong way.  Now here in front of him stood his fated mate, a mate he wanted but wasn’t sure what to do.  However if you really want to know what happens, you must read this story.

I loved the characters and the way the story just seemed to flow off the pages.  It was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to get started on the next book.  This is one author who now has a new follower.

I would definitely recommend this story.

Review:  Each book in the Yellowstone Wolves collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Now even though this has the guys from the first two, this is actually a story about another pack.  Pete is a city boy all the way around, but his best friend talked him into going on a trip to the country so to speak.  However Roger ended up getting sick and Pete was on his own.  He just hadn’t expected it to mean he was stuck going on a hike.  A hike that ended up with him lost.

Tobias’s finds the sexy human in one of his barns, but realizes that this man is his mate.  A mate that is from New York, and fears that no one in his pack would accept him.  Or maybe he was afraid that his mate wouldn’t want to stick around.  To top it off Tobias’s have brother Zev is causing trouble once more.  Zev is the son of the wolf that caused problems for the other packs.  One of the dark ones and you can tell that it is deep in Zev as well.  Now if you want the juicy details, well pick up the book.

I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed at all.  This is a fascinating story that is very unique.  I love the energy that you can see from these wolves.  Although I think I would have smacked Tobias upside the head a couple of times.  It is an action packed story with some very hot little scenes in it.  I do hope that there is more to this series because it is a total hit with me.

I had a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend it.

Review:  Each book in the Yellowstone Wolves collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Every once in a while you get an idea that a story has an inner story to tell.  With this one it would seem to be that way.  When one’s heart is full of darkness, evil will follow and lead at the same time.  If one has the darkness inside of them, it is up to them to figure out which path to follow.

Christopher had left his home thinking that he wanted a new way of life.  However he realized that in a way he had been given another path to follow.  His heart was wanting to go home, but in away his fears soon followed.  It wasn’t until Fredrik came into his life, that he realized that what he truly wanted was standing right in front of him.

Fredrik’s father was of darkness, evil wanting more power.  He was born from a mother who had light in her heart, but the darkness was in Fredrik also.  However he chose to follow another path.  When his brother was given a gift of a stolen child, he knew that he had to do the right thing.  In doing the right thing, his path was now solid.  He had a mate, he had not expected and love that would shine in them.  If you want the good and juicy details, well read the story.

In each of us, there is a light and darkness to us, but it up to us which path we chose to follow.  I had a lot of fun reading this and can’t wait to get started on the next story.  It has a lot of action, suspense and danger in it, but it also has some hot and kinky sex.  The characters are solid and very warm; I loved how the story just seemed to flow.

It would be rated higher than a five if that were possible.  What an amazing story by an amazing author.

Review: Frederik is forced to come back home to his pack after his psychotic father, Anton, is killed and his equally psychotic brother takes over the pack. Knowing how badly Frederik wants to finish college, Juneau holds it over his brother’s head, making Frederik stay put and follow his orders. That is until Juneau plans to steal someone’s innocence. Frederik finds a way to overcome his usually shy, self-loathing personality and do what is right, which infuriates his brother.

Christopher has always fallen behind his brother’s shadows, Mikael, the pack Alpha. He longs to do something, anything, to help his pack. He requested to be Alpha to one of the crumbling packs, but Mikael said he wasn’t ready. He has spent the better part of a year on his own, only interacting with the pack when necessary.

All that changes when Frederik shows up to safely return a member of the Old Faithful pack. The two are drawn to each other, but unsure why at first. Accepting that they are mated is easy for Christopher, he has longed for someone to need him. And it’s not the Frederik doesn’t want him, quite the opposite actually. He just feels like the insanity of his family will forever follow him and put the pack in danger.

Through a series of ups and downs, getting to know one another, learning to depend on each other, Christopher and Frederik grow into their bond. The pack comes together to help build a cabin for the mated couple to live in. A few more members of Frederik’s former pack wind up at Old Faithful, accidentally, on purpose, who cares. But when Juneau threatens the pack, Frederik has to make a choice. Walk away from the family and the stability he has with the Old Faithful pack, his mate Christopher. Or stand and fight and risk his brother’s wrath.

I quite like this series, how Greyson ties in the packs and the wolves with Mother Nature. The way Mikael leads the pack… he is fierce and determined, and yet he can be gentle and understanding when needed. The Old Faithful pack follow Mikael and Denton without question or fear, for they know their Alpha’s will protect them, care for them and see that they have whatever they need.

Then you have the other side of that coin, Frederik’s family. Anton and now Juneau rule with an iron fist, threatening, raping, killing, taking what they want regardless of the cost. It’s no wonder that Frederik fears there is darkness inside him simply because he shares the same DNA with those savages.

The book is fast paced, with lots of action. The storyline and the characters intricately woven together to reveal each new piece at the right time. Christopher and Frederik are loyal to each other from the start. It takes time for them to build a cohesive relationship, but knowing they have each other seems to help them move beyond most of their issues from the past. And they are stronger when they rely on each other. Their chemistry is obvious, the connection evident, so they use that as a foundation.

A must read for anyone that enjoys shifter and paranormal stories. It’s pretty passionate and sexy, as well. I definitely recommend it. But if you haven’t read Challenge the Darkness yet (book 1) you have to start there. The series must be read in order. Its well worth a read, I promise.

Review: Mikael Volokov is the Alpha of the Yellowstone pack. He’s strong, fierce and commanding. Mikael doesn’t tolerate dissention or anyone questioning his authority, it’s why his pack is so strong and united.

That being said, he’s not a brutal bastard, unless you go after something or someone he holds dear. He listens to his pack, considers their concerns and does everything possible to ensure their safety and happiness. When he’s called to witness a challenge and winds up witnessing something more dark and sinister than expected, he lands in the crosshairs of that darkness.

Denton Arguson is the Alpha of the neighboring pack, Evergreen. He is nearly as fierce as Mikael and definitely as loyal to his pack. When the two realize they are fated mates, Mikael couldn’t be happier. He’s dreamed about his mate since he was a boy, but Denton is less than pleased. He fights the bond and tries to ignore the connection he has with Mikael, but fate won’t be ignored. It will take a lot of patience, understanding and communication if these two are going to fulfill the destiny that was created for them before they were even born.

I have to say, I knew this was going to be a good book, I love everything from this Author. I was literally blown away by how good it was though. Greyson took the mythology that circles shifters and tweaked it just enough to give us something fresh and new.

I loved the references to the Mother and giving things back to the earth so they would be rewarded in return. ‘As ye sow so shall ye reap’ is the moto these wolves live by. But everything in life has to have balance. Where there is light, there is darkness, and when the darkness tries to destroy the land, the packs, and most of all, the wolves spirits, it will take a lot of love, life and trust to defeat it.

A must read for shifter fans, but there is also the added element of what almost reads as earth magic in this story. The relationship between Mikael and Denton is electric, passionate and turbulent. After all, they are both Alphas and while the world Greyson has created doesn’t even blink an eye at two men being mates, two Alphas being mated is unheard of. They have to find their balance as well not only to defeat the darkness, but to find their happiness.

Wonderful story, the flow and pace is perfect and kept me enthralled from beginning to end, and I cannot wait to see where this new series will take several wolves in particular with more books down the road.
