Tooth turned to his side with a wide grin. “Yeah, he’s kinda famous in the club. Nobody dares to fuck with him.”
Luci was getting sleepy before, but this new information had his imagination spinning. He looked up at Tooth in the darkness. “Really? Is he a badass?”
Tooth turned to his back again and looked at the ceiling. “He’s the guy you call when you want someone dead. Why, you interested?”
Luci gaped at Tooth’s profile hidden in the bush of hair. “I can think of someone I want dead,” he whispered, afraid saying it out-loud would make it too real. He wished he could just forget that man instead.
Tooth looked at him in the darkness, the whites of his eyes shining through. “Hope it’s not me.”
“No, but be careful not to end up on my list.” Luci smirked. “So this nomad guy, is he handsome? You think he’d go out with me?”
Tooth laughed. “I don’t think you’d be his type. Look for someone else.”
“Why not? I could get more muscle if that’s the thing. I’m still growing.”
“You have too many legs.”

Review: I wasn’t particularly keen on the first book in this series, Road of No Return. I’ll freely admit to that. I liked it but I suppose I just couldn’t get hooked to the characters and sort of disliked one MC. It wasn’t so much the gritty darkness. That is a good thing because this is a book that is of the same vein as the first. The story is gritty, full of violence and sex. And with this one, The Devil’s Ride, I really love and somewhat relate to the characters. I suppose, we are all entitled to the odd revenge fantasy.
Both Tooth (aka Jason) and Luci (aka Lucifer) are wonderful characters – dark, gritty, violent and broken, but wonderful. However, as wonderful as he is, it’s not difficult to remember that Tooth is a person bent on revenge and extremely violent, especially when it comes to those he is loyal to, mostly his club. He’s the VP of the Coffin Nails club and with the name Tooth; you know he’s done some pretty bad stuff to get to where he was twelve years after joining the club. In a strange way, Tooth is broken, which is how he became a member of the gang.
Lucifer, as he was named by his mother, is the bastard son to the Coffin Nails president, Priest. He’s never been truly acknowledged or taken care of by his father, and at first, it’s pretty clear that his half-brother hates him, while his half-sister doesn’t know about him. He’s broken, frightened and severely damaged after all he’s seen and done in his short life.
The over arching plot line involves another more “evil” or “crooked” group who deal in a probably more heinous trade than Coffin Nails ever would. It certainly makes the Club tamer than that featured in Road of No Return. It also deeply involves both Luci and Tooth. Most, if not all, the characters seem to have some sort of charm, especially in light of the fact that Luci is known to be gay. This is tidily explained away by there being an openly gay member of the club who actually never appears.
The relationships in this book are wonderful as they all evolve the longer Luci stays with the motorcycle club. Tooth and Luci have an interesting dynamic. Yes, there is 12 years age difference, but I didn’t think it was too excessive. Two other interesting relationships are Luci and Priest, as well as that between Luci and his brother, Bell (Beelzebub). Apparently, Priest is a Satanist, hence the kid’s names.
This is a fantastic read if you’re looking for something a bit darker than the norm, with a bit of suspense and intrigue thrown on top of the story of badass bikers.
