Troy has been handed an ugly hand by life. He was kidnapped, his DNA was tinkered with, and he doesn’t know what or who he is anymore. Even if the pride has accepted him without questions, he hides in his room, scared of what he could see in the other peoples’ eyes.
Emery is used to a lonely life. He lost his family years before to the Krsnik wars, and he’s happy to have found new friends within the pride. He’s even happier to find out his mate lives in the mansion, even if Troy makes approaching him difficult.
Troy pushes Emery into mating, scared that Emery will flee once he finds out just how wrong Troy has become. He doesn’t, though, not even when something incredible, something no one could have forecasted, happens. Will they be able to face their unsure future together, or will one of them crumble under the pressure?

Review: Each book in the Whitedell Pride collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
I love the way this author can put together a book that not only fascinates you but draws you in. I had a blast reading this and look forward to reading more by Catherine. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down.
To me there is nothing better than a good romance, but when it is a paranormal then it hits higher marks to me. To top it off, when you add in the fact that one of the guys is pregnant, you in for a moment of laughter. I love them especially when there are some gorgeous men in some kinky situations.
Troy and Emery were mates. Yet they hadn’t even said much more than hello to each other. Troy had been kidnapped while he had been walking home one night. The scientist experimented on him and changed his DNA. He now had a harpy inside of him. To him, he was nothing more than a monster now. However when Emery finally forced them to be near each other, Troy was pissed to say the least.
Then he found out that they were mates, and he thought he would never be left alone. So he jumped at it. I don’t think he expected the final outcome to his plan.
Emery knew that his mate was having a difficult time. He had started out a normal human male, that now ended up with harpy inside of him. Harpy’s were also female. Emery knew what it felt like to be different. He was half shifter and half vampire. He had lost his entire family in the war. He wanted his mate, he wanted a family and he knew he wouldn’t let them go. He just was not expecting what was going to happen next.
I can honestly tell you that this is going to be one of those types of series that you can’t put down and have to read more than once. It is the perfect story for me and gave me all that I needed. I love the way all the feelings they felt was involved in this story. I had a blast reading it and I can’t wait to read the next story. When Catherine puts out a book I am usually there to eat them up.
I would definitely recommend reading this book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, loving and having fun.
