Review:Neil Dalton is hanging on by a thread since the loss of his partner in a random act of violence a year ago. To make matters even worse, he can’t even talk to the most important people in his life about the agony he’s goes through on a daily basis because as far as he can tell, they won’t accept him for who he really is.
Jeremy Kelly is an Iraq war vet that suffers in silence as well in the aftermath of the time he spent serving and protecting over there. His family is even worse than Neil’s, shutting him out and cutting him off abruptly when they learn he’s gay, when he needs their help now more than ever.
Childhood friends drawn back together and spending the Holiday’s with Neil’s family in Omaha, each suffers in silence and struggles to overcome inner demons due to lingering effects in the form of PTSD. Will it be three strikes you’re out, or the third times the charm for this pair? Longing for each other, but scared to be hurt again, will Neil and Jeremy find a way to be together? Or will their failed attempts in the past at a relationship coupled with their duelling grief keep them at arm’s length?
Not an easy read, but well worth the time. A love story stemming from the longing of two broken men. Neil and Jeremy are exactly what the other one needs. They can find a strength within each other that has been taken from them through violence. An element of two steps forward, three steps back applies to this story as well, for every time you think they’ve figured it out, something is amiss. Both men grown throughout the story and through being together and its equal parts beautiful, terrible and sexy.
Definitely, a rollercoaster ride of emotions and Witt conveys the emotions flawlessly. Witt is a very versatile author who can and has written Sci-Fi, contemporary, dystopian, BDSM but her niche’ is military inspired stories. I don’t think she can do any wrong, and this story was definitely right, highly recommend. But be sure you have tissues at the ready.

This is book 9 of the Love in Xxchange series. I am going to admit this is my first in this particular series. I wanted to read it because I have been reading the Mossy Glenn Ranch series and this book is where the main characters, Will, Troy and Carlos meet. I absolutely love Bailey Bradford and loved the Mossy Glenn series. Will is one of my all-time favourite characters, another reason I wanted to read this particular book but more on that in a minute. I will say I plan to read this entire series also since the other characters seem to be quite interesting as well. So I do suggest you read the series in order then be sure to jump in the Mossy Glenn series as well.
In this book Will, Carlos, and Troy meet. I found the way they met adorable. Carlos is zooming along the road from Montana, to talk to his friend about the Mossy Glenn and is already upset for the goings on there. A cutie in a mini cooper passes him and blows him a kiss. Carlos is also lost from the directions of his GPS and pulls into a bar for a drink, to calm down and get directions to his friend’s ranch. He walks in on a sexy bartender and a twink getting it on, on the bar. Then he realizes the twink is the guy that blew him a kiss. The three end up in the storage room. It just gets better from there.
I absolutely love Bailey’s writing style. The author really knows how to paint a picture with words. I loved how she described Carlos from Will’s view. He simply thought Marlboro man. That was all I needed to absolutely visualize Carlos. Now Will is a completely new story and you get his picture throughout this story as well as he seems to grow in the next series. I absolutely love will. He is described as a small guy, with very feminine features. As a matter of fact when he first went past Carlos, Carlos thought he was a girl until he saw him better. At first, you think of Will as a twink. He is fun-loving, sexy, and very campy. But he is not what he appears. He is very strong, knows what he wants, how to get it and uses his campiness however he needs. I think that is what I like best about him is that he is not the usual character. He isn’t tall dark and handsome or an Alpha male, he is the opposite but don’t let him fool you. He can hold his own.
I love that this story is a bit complicated. It is a western with cowboys, yet it also has drama, and it deals with a ménage and though it has lots of sex, it still stays interesting as well.
If you like a great series, bartenders, cops, ménage, bondage cowboys, drama, and lots of hot mansex this is for you!

Now having warned you I did know the book contained Twincest and I will be honest, I still don’t know how I feel about Twincest. This is a very hard book to review so I took my time and thought it over carefully. I don’t like giving half stars so that’s why we have a four. I gave it a moderate on the heat level since there is a lot of sex scenes throughout the book, however I found them tasteful and sensual not outright explicit to me. Explicit is a graphic description of the act and body parts and coarse descriptive words. So, I loved the story and in my opinion, the sex is moderate. I thought it was very sexy, and sensual.
I will say this, the domination part was so mild I could have done without it and it would not have taken away from the book. I can’t say much on the ménage since it will be a spoiler, but I was ok with-it found it sensual and I do give Kudos on how that relationship went and can’t wait for the next book to since I have a feeling it may be Dorian’s story. At least I hope so.
Now for my actual review. The storyline was action packed and very intriguing. I love Mychael Black’s take on vampires. They are gritty, violent and different from the norm. Nope you won’t find sparkly here, though Gabriele is close … I liked the mage, vamp combination. For some reason I really liked Lucca, though I think he needed to be a tad bit tougher, but perhaps that will come as he grows into his powers since he is just becoming a vampire here. I liked the combination also of passion, fear, sensuality, and sadness. (Yes, you will need a tissue near the end.)
To sum things up… I recommend this if you like vampires, mages, shadows, spirits, sensual sex, devoted love and Twincest.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. I’m certain many people only dream to achieve the level of happiness that Kane and Avery experienced in their lives together. Even through tragedy and loss they manage to remain a strong family unit that is always based on love. Alexander has written a very powerful, poignant and endearing novel that will touch you and stay with you long after you read those last few words. I can’t say anymore because it would be too easy to give too much away, and you simply must read this beautiful love story for yourself.
I will say, this just became the best book that I have read this year thus far, I highly recommend it to anyone, everyone. Be warned, mass quantities of Kleenex are required. Maybe even be proactive and take a benedryl ahead of time, try to counteract some of the full on snot slinging crying you’ll surely be doing. Ah, but there is laughter as well, and love, so much love, Always.
