With the Alpha of the Atlanta pack pushing for a meeting, and vampires turning rogue within the coven itself, Max has his hands full. The only problem is, with his hands full, he doesn’t have anything to hold his beloved with. Will Max and Lyle ever find their HEA or will the mating curse strike its cruelest blow of all?

Bound by Blood is a complete standalone spin off story from the Cloverleah pack. Regular Lisa Oliver readers will remember Max from Watching Out for Fangs (The Cloverleah series #7) but it’s not necessary to have read that book, to understand this one. Intimate situations and some violence means this book is suitable for adults only.

Hi Pixie, thank you so much for hosting me on your blog today. I’m here to tell you about one of my latest books, Bound by Blood which is a spin off from the Cloverleah Pack series.  Bound by Blood features Max, who some readers will remember as Vadim’s friend from Watching Out For Fangs (Cloverleah Pack #7). Max has now been running the Atlanta Coven for six months and it’s not been easy for him. On a rare night out with a friend, he meets Lyle, a scrappy little cat shifter and recognizes immediately the man/cat is his beloved – someone he has waited centuries to meet. In theory, you’d think that would be the end of the story, but in my books just because people are pushed together by the Fates doesn’t mean the road to love is a smooth one. Max and Lyle have to fight for their HEA as you can see in this exclusive excerpt. (This book can be read as a standalone).

Excerpt

“Please don’t go.” Max hadn’t moved but his voice was compelling.

“Why should I stay?” Lyle was torn in too many directions to make sense of things. His body, his cat, every cell of his being yearned to be with the one he called mate. But Max had let him down too many times and Lyle knew he couldn’t go through that again. “You’ve made it plain your focus is anything but me. I understand. But that doesn’t mean I have to stick around and feed your ego. You ripped my heart out and left me to die and to be perfectly honest, I’d rather die than suffer another blood letting from Doctor Frankenstein.”

“You have my solemn word that will never happen again.”

“You can’t promise me that. You said yourself you’ve only found two of the rogues. You’ve still got four to find. Jason told me after that….”

“I fired and banished Jason.”

“Are you mental?” Lyle couldn’t believe his ears. “Do you know how much that guy does around the place? He arranges deliveries, he organizes the pay roll, he makes up the rosters for cleaners, cooks, guards, and god knows what else. He takes care of all your correspondence, interacts with the other covens on your behalf. He’s your right hand man.”

“I can think of a half a dozen vampires who could do his job just as well.” Max let out a long breath. “Jason completely overstepped his authority. He should never have cancelled our mating celebration and he had no right to order the doctor to drain blood from you. There’s no telling what else he’s done in my name.”

“Well, shit, okay. Did you change the passwords on the coven bank accounts when he left?” Lyle knew how sneaky Jason could be. That was a vampire who always landed on his feet.

“No,” Max looked puzzled. “It never crossed my mind.”

“What about the authority for the electricity and gas accounts? The investment accounts, oh, and the food suppliers? Did you notify them Jason no longer worked for the coven?”

“No, I came here and have stayed here, because I needed to be with you. You’re my focus now. Not the coven.”

It was Lyle’s turn to sigh. “You can’t give up the coven just for me. They will always be your responsibility and how’s it going to look if the power, phones and internet are disconnected by a disgruntled ex-employee? How are you going to feel if you go to pay the bills and find your accounts drained and you can’t pay them? Credit cards get stolen, your jet suddenly disappears, next thing you know you find someone has sold the coven property out from under you. Honestly, Max, you can be focused on more than one thing at a time.”

Review: This story can be read as a standalone however I would suggest reading the Cloverleah Pack collection first, as this story is a spinoff of that collection.

Lyle is a small white house cat shifter and has no clue how he was one. He always thought that he had been cursed. His step-father had considered him as an abomination and was going to go to hell. His mother never said a word against the man. He had been kicked out and only survived by food in the garbage or some good stranger giving him scraps. It wasn’t until a vampire found him that he learned the truth. Boy is he in for a shock.

Max has taken over the coven when his friend and leader left after mating a shifter. His damn coven was so far in the dark ages that I am surprised they knew how to write. He wanted to change it but never got around to it. Then finding his beloved in the middle of a cat fight, soon changes his mind.

Action packed, danger filled, idiot’s for coven members, hot sexy times and excitement are just a bit of what you get in this story. It definitely kept my attention from the start and I can guarantee that it will be read more than once. The characters were a blast and lets face it Lyle is my favorite. He is feisty and smarter than you would think at first. There a re a few surprises in this that will have you laughing.

I had a blast reading this and I do hope that there will be more stories involving this coven. It was funny as hell and I can’t wait to get my hands on Lisa Oliver’s next book.
