Review: Elliot Chandler is meticulous, planning every detail of everything down to the letter. But when his perfectly planned wedding doesn’t go off as planned, he finds himself jilted and stranded at the airport en route to Hawaii for his “honeymoon” sans his groom.
Derek Windsor is kind of a nonchalant kind of guy. The self-proclaimed, eternal bachelor travels a lot for work, finding himself stuck at the Seattle airport due to a weather delay doesn’t really ruffle his feathers. What does get his blood boiling though is the gorgeous stranger across from him.
The two share some pleasant conversation, dinner and eventually, a hotel room. Two men thrown together by circumstance share a hot, sweaty night with no expectations going forward. Elliot never takes a chance on anything, but his attraction to Derek coupled with his still bruised heart at being left by his long time partner made him throw caution to the wind. The result was the single most satisfying sexual experience of his life, but where do they go now.
When Derek suggests that Elliot accompany him home instead of his original destination, a different island, Elliot shockingly says yes. Over the next two weeks, the two share a bed, walks on the beach, dinners, dancing, dates, and their hearts. When the time comes for Elliot to return home and end the longest one night stand in history, will he be able to say goodbye to Derek as they’d planned? Or has he worked his way under the cool, calm façade Derek hides behind, will there be a change in plans?
What more could you ask for than two men, completely opposite personalities, drawn together by mutual desire with the backdrop of the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. I really liked the way Derek drew Elliot out of his shell and had him taking a chance on happiness in the wake of possibly the unhappiest day of his life.
The way their personalities played off of each other, drawing them both out of their own norms. As usual, Witt really does a great job of painting a scene for the story that you can really see in your mind. For this book, it was Hawaii and I tell you, I could smell the ocean and feel the sand between my toes while I walked the beach with Derek and Elliot.
This is a must read for fans of Witt’s work and a bonus for anyone who likes sexy, passionate, romantic love stories.
