Excerpt

The banter went on back and forth between the four of them and Dan took it all in, grinning. Even if he didn’t feel comfortable enough to participate, he really did enjoy all of them. It wasn’t so important that he dive in with his own comments, he was having plenty of fun just the way it was.

Dan’s breath caught in his throat as he noticed a tall, very thin young man enter the club from the bar area. He was in skinny jeans that were artfully distressed with some kind of wild black and white geometric design T-shirt. It was visible under the short black blazer with narrow lapels he wore so enticingly. His feet were covered in black Converse trainers with no socks, his delicate ankles showing between the bottoms of the snug-fit pants and the tops of the athletic shoes.

But the loose dark hair that outlined his features, parted in the middle and just past his shoulders, was what captured Dan’s attention. He held his gaze there until a few seconds later when he drank in the angular lines of the beautiful stranger’s face as well as his almond-shaped eyes. It was too dark and he was still too far away for Dan to tell what color they were, but then Dan dropped his eyes to the full lips that were framed by hollow cheeks.

Holy Jesus.

The vision before him laughed at something someone said as he walked past them and tucked one side of his hair behind his ear as he did. So adorable. Then, he glided toward the main area, his movements runway worthy, and that was when it struck him. Dan’s favorite masturbation fantasy was the model Miles McMillan. This guy could destroy Miles’ career and completely take over his reign as one of the top male models in the world, should he ever decide to.

Dan’s breathing sped up and his mouth went as dry as unbuttered toast. Fortunately, everyone else at the table was laughing and chatting, so hadn’t noticed anything amiss with him. If ever he needed to possess social skills—any type of social skills—the current moment would be it. He frantically ran through the files in his mind, searching for something he could say, some way he could walk up and introduce himself to the androgynous stunner that had just sashayed into Jammin’ Jimmy’s. He groaned. Literally groaned out loud at the tragedy of it. He had absolutely nothing to say to this mystery angel that he could never have.

Review: This book is best read in sequence as part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I absolutely loved this book, it was exactly what I needed on a long day at work. The characters were perfect and I was amazed with the way the story just flowed. You can feel the heat and passion coming from these two men. Dan was a Guardsman for the military and a dishwasher at a cafe. He was experienced in all things except for sex. He is a little shy and doesn’t want one night stands. One of his best friends wanted him to meet Jared. He thought Jared could show Dan around and teach him a little bit about dating. The problem was once he set his eyes on Jared he was smitten.

Jared was a socialite butterfly, loved just hooking up, never wanting anything more than that. He loved to dress up and dance his heart out. However when he met Dan, he decided to rock Dan’s world. However he had not taken in to effect that his heart might just over rule the rest of him. He tried for a month to just keep Dan as a friend but he wanted more than the hot night they had when they met. He wanted Dan for more than just a friend and a hook-up. Now if only he could quit fearing the what if’s.

When Jared is attacked it seems to break down the walls that he has up. He is willing to let them down and see where it can go. He wants Dan and is wanting the man he loves to know that he is the one he wants. Dan knows that he has found the man he wants to be with for the rest of his life and is willing to do everything in his power to show it. He will do everything to show the man he loves that it is worth everything to just give them a chance.

Jared loves his job as a EMT and is amazed at Dan’s bravery with the Guard. However when a earthquake hits California his fears start coming in so much stronger. At first it was just search and find victims but then a building comes down around Dan. Dan is trapped and Jared is scared. Now he just has to keep his love going strong till his love is found.

This story will keep you on your toes with how Jared just seems to lead Dan on, but once you understand his fears you will love him even more. It has the perfect amount of humor that will keep you smiling at parts of the story. If you love a men in uniforms, dangerous situations, excitement, passion filled glances, love, sexy men and quirky attitudes then you will love this story.
