Review: Kale has a stalker, who starts out slow and builds up to truly creepy and dangerous. When he gets sent an animal eyeball, his brother/manager finally calls in the big guns for protection. They go to Shifter Protection Specialists, Inc. There Kale meets Aleski. Aleski is a huge man, but then he has to be since he is a saber-tooth tiger.
I loved Aleski right from the start. How cool to have a saber-tooth tiger shifter. At first, I was not really drawn to Kale as he had the cool diva act down pat. But as the story goes on he warms up and it’s revealed he hides himself from the world in general and only lets his brother in. As the two MCs deal with a progressively more dangerous stalker, Kale and Aleski get closer and learn about each other. For the first time Aleski has someone who is not afraid of his animal and Kale deals with letting someone in behind his walls.
This was an alternative world set up where shifters are part of society, but are still looked at as suspect and dangerous by many. This whole book pulled me in from the start. I was always waiting for the next something to happen. Whether it was a snarky comment, to see what the stalker would pull next, some funny situation, or some loving. The world built was interesting and well described without distracting from the overall story. It was fast paced with a good mix of action and scenes with the MCs and their growing relationship.
I am really looking forward to the next book in the series. It looks like that will be an interesting and exciting ride too.
