Butterfly Hunter

(The Butterfly Hunter 01)
by

Julie Bozza

It started as a simple assignment for Aussie bush guide Dave Taylor – escort a lone Englishman in quest of an unknown species of butterfly. However, Nicholas Goring is no ordinary tourist, his search is far from straightforward, and it’s starting to look as if the butterflies don’t want to be found. As Dave teaches Nicholas everything he needs to survive in the Outback he discovers that he too has quite a bit to learn – and that very often the best way to locate something really important is just not to want to find it…

This new edition has been slightly revised from the original.

Of Dreams and Ceremonies

(The Butterfly Hunter 02)

It seemed like a great idea at the time… Aussie Dave Taylor has followed Nicholas Goring to England, and the lovers have become engaged. But now Dave has to cope with living in a mansion full of family and servants, making wedding plans, getting his head around visa applications, and wondering why on earth he’d ever want to wear a ‘mourning suit’. He’s not sure if it will prove any easier, but right now Dave would love to just skip ahead to the honeymoon…

The Thousand Smiles of Nicholas Goring

(The Butterfly Hunter 03)

Dave and Nicholas, married for seven years now, are happily settled together – but as an Australian prime minister once observed, “Life wasn’t meant to be easy.” An unexpected threat to their beloved waterhole forces Dave to try asserting his unofficial custodianship of the Dreamtime site, and a visit from Nicholas’s nephew Robin doesn’t help as he brings his own surprises. And there’s always the question of Nicholas’s health hanging over their heads…

The Butterfly Hunter Trilogy

(The Butterfly Hunter 01 – 03)

Dave Taylor is an Aussie tour guide specialising in trips through the Queensland Outback. In some ways, however, Dave himself feels lost. He has been alone this past year, since his childhood sweetheart Denise left him and married another man. Change comes via Dave’s latest rather unexpected client, Nicholas Goring, the youngest son of an English earl. Nicholas is on the hunt for an undiscovered species of butterfly, and has hired Dave to help guide his quest. Although the two men are from very different backgrounds, they become friends, and soon their relationship grows into something more. But how easy will it be for an Australian and an Englishman to find common ground?

This boxed set includes all of the above: the novels “Butterfly Hunter”, “Of Dreams and Ceremonies”, and “The Thousand Smiles of Nicholas Goring”, as well as the (free) story “Like Leaves to a Tree”.

Review: This is book two of the Butterfly Hunter Series. I think you should read them in order. I haven’t read the first and wish I had. I would have liked to known how Dave and Nicholas met and I think it would have answered a few questions I had. However, I don’t think it hurt my view of the book.

I think the story is very good. I loved both Nicholas and Dave. The story was one of the most beautiful love stories I have read in a while. I love the descriptions of the places they visit, I felt as if I were there.

There is a touch of mystery mixed in that added a bit of excitement to the story. I found the end a bit abrupt, but I am hoping for another book. I would have liked something at the end to let me know there is more in this series coming.

If you like sweet, sensual, emotional romances, sexy Australians, hot English dignitaries, butterflies, beautiful scenery, and a little very sensual, loving mansex, same-sex weddings and happy for now endings, this is for you.

Blurb: Joshua Delaney and Carmine Angelo Trezini, cop and low-level mobster, should have absolutely nothing in common; yet, accidentally brought together, they rapidly became both lovers and allies against important crime figure Matthew Picano. Of course, taking down a man like that was never going to be easy – but Josh has no idea of the scale of the sacrifice he will eventually be called upon to make.

Review: Josh convinces Angelo to turn against Matthew Picano, a mob boss. They begin an affair but Angelo is convinced that he won’t live long when Picano finds out that he has turned on him.

This is a well written book that has a very good story-line and plot. Angelo is the guy that I fell in love with in this book.  He just seems to live life to the fullest, embracing his love for Josh and just going with it without procrastinating about how soon it is or the fact that the man was straight. Josh on the other hand I began to wonder if he had any feelings at all, at one point, as he just seemed to go along with the relationship with Angelo and it seemed to take him a long time to feel love for Angelo.  and he never told Angelo that he loved him, not once in the book and yeah I checked.

The story is great and kept me reading, I liked the characters and thought they had great potential but Josh came across as a bit of a dead fish, even with his wondering about his reaction to Angelo it felt clinical and not emotional in any way. The gathering of the statements and the court scenes were great and towards the end Josh was more open with Angelo and seemed to genuinely have fallen in love with him. The ending was devastating and I really thought that it would have ended differently.

This book I will recommend to those who love cop/mobster love affairs, court room drama and gentle love.
