Malcolm Bright, brand new museum curator in a small Welsh Border town, is a little lonely until – acting as emergency archaeological consultant on a new housing development – he crosses the path of Rob Escley, aka Dirty Rob, who makes Mal’s earth move in more ways than one.

Then Rob discovers something wonderful, and together they must combat greedy developers and a treasure hunter determined to get his hands on the find. Are desperate measures justified to save the bones of our fathers? Will Dirty Rob live up to his reputation? Do museum curators really do it meticulously?

Miles relishes the opportunity to allow his alter ego, Millie, to spread her wings but if Miles wants the other agent’s respect he can never betray how much he enjoys being Millie now how attractive he finds Allerdale.

Pursuing a ruthless enemy who wants to throw Europe back into the horrors of the Great War, Briers and miles are helped and hindered by nosy landladies, Water Board officials, suave gentlemen representing foreign powers and their own increasing attraction to each other.

Blurb: Life seems to be going well for Jasper Swinton and Brian Stark: they have fulfilling jobs, a cute kitten, and, despite all expectations, they’re still together after two months. When a harmless prank war goes awry, however, their perfect life starts falling apart – and it doesn’t take long before they’re finding out that actions can have unexpected consequences, and that not every love story has a happy ending

Review: First off, I want to say I have not read the first book (but plan too now) I followed this one quite well though. There were enough slow drops of information that I was able to enjoy the book.

Secondly, these characters are all older (late thirties just turned 40) and if it hadn’t stated it was Brian’s 40th birthday and Jasper was 14 months behind, I would have thought they were teens by the pranks.

Now, having said that, I absolutely loved this book. Even though I found the pranking excessive and juvenile, I think it really showed the men’s personality, affection for each other and how they really fit together. It also was a fun light-hearted story.

Jasper is a genius and works for an aeronautical testing lab. Brian is an ex-POW and has been training at Landsky for test piloting but his PTSD is holding him back. Both men like to play pranks and their co-workers get involved, so when Brian began getting dead-flowers with ominous notes, he put it off the pranks from Jasper.

This story has a bit of everything, fun pranks, snarky jasper, a broken Brian a cute, funny cat, and mystery. The sex scenes while hot are very tastefully done and for the most part off page.

If you like, a fun, fast-paced story with romance and mystery, like pranks, broken men, ex-military men, smart men, good friends, adorable cats, and committed couples this is for you. I can’t wait for the next one.

Blurb: It seemed like a great idea at the time… Aussie Dave Taylor has followed Nicholas Goring to England, and the lovers have become engaged. But now Dave has to cope with living in a mansion full of family and servants, making wedding plans, getting his head around visa applications, and wondering why on earth he’d ever want to wear a ‘mourning suit’. He’s not sure if it will prove any easier, but right now Dave would love to just skip ahead to the honeymoon…

Review: This is book two of the Butterfly Hunter Series. I think you should read them in order. I haven’t read the first and wish I had. I would have liked to known how Dave and Nicholas met and I think it would have answered a few questions I had. However, I don’t think it hurt my view of the book.

I think the story is very good. I loved both Nicholas and Dave. The story was one of the most beautiful love stories I have read in a while. I love the descriptions of the places they visit, I felt as if I were there.

There is a touch of mystery mixed in that added a bit of excitement to the story. I found the end a bit abrupt, but I am hoping for another book. I would have liked something at the end to let me know there is more in this series coming.

If you like sweet, sensual, emotional romances, sexy Australians, hot English dignitaries, butterflies, beautiful scenery, and a little very sensual, loving mansex, same-sex weddings and happy for now endings, this is for you.

Review: This story is an honest look at life’s mistakes, adventures, relationships both good and bad, and the balance between relationships and commitments, how they both conspire to shift the path we take in life. Oh, yeah, and it’s also about solving a murder, or what local police seem to think is possibly a suicide. Rupert is still recovering from being burned by what he thought was going to be a lifelong love and a new and long-term career as owner/chef in his own restaurant in Australia. He’d given up everything, jumped out on a limb and taken off from his home in London to pursue his dreams with a man who would only crush them, and leave Rupert starting over. When he remembers Jake, a smiling confident man who caught his eye and curiosity while he had been in a committed relationship, he thought to look him up again only to find that Jake was in a tough place. Torn between his commitments to his boss Ren, who saved him many times, and his new-found affection and desire to help Jake, Rupert isn’t sure what to do. Should he just be concerned for himself after being burned in such a big way, should he be sure to pay his debts to Ren who helped pull him out of the mire, or is his concern and desire for Jake the most important thing? This was a smoothly written story that kept my attention from the out-start. We often have to make difficult choices in our careers, in our personal lives, and make sacrifices, but what is the right decision? This is the underlying theme to me, the mystery, and the challenges that Jake’s family and farm face seem to be secondary layers of detail that engage and stimulate the mind.

Blurb: Roman Gaul: Lucius Valerius Carus isn’t naturally impulsive; when he suddenly and unexpectedly buys a slave at a market, it’s because he feels sorry for a man who has obviously been maltreated in the past. However, he’s taken on far more than he bargained for with Keret – intelligent, educated, and a great deal stronger than he looks. Roman society wouldn’t think twice about Lucius using Keret for his sexual pleasure – indeed, it would be astonished if he didn’t – but it’s likely to be horrified if it ever learns that Lucius has started to respect his slave, and absolutely disgusted if it discovers that he’s gradually beginning to fall in love …

Product Link: http://www.manifoldpress.co.uk/2013/07/the-eagles-wing/

Review: Good God, what an ending; I’m still reeling from its abruptness. Yes, I know I’m tackling this from a backward point, but I can’t shake the cliffhanger feeling from me just yet. Right when things started to be a bit bright and I finally believed we would see some solid happiness and declarations, right there and then it ended. I found myself going forth and back between pages just in case I missed something, but no such luck.

So basic story: A Roman Gaul Officer buys a slave just to spite his long time enemy. He had no intention of buying one, and a pleasure slave at that, but it happened in a moment of sheer madness and he has to deal with it. What he doesn’t expect though is to fall helplessly in love with his slave, Keret, (who’s been more than traumatized by his former masters) and to find himself trying to shake Keret out of bad memories, creating new, happy ones for him.

Not ever pressing Keret for his affections Lucius takes the opportunity of his place in the army to unleash the true man hidden behind a delicate shell. Keret’s former training as a doctor comes quite useful and he quickly becomes more than just a beautiful slave to his soldiers, as they opened their ranks and treated Keret as their own.

Painstakingly slow, defeating obstacle after obstacle, and demon after demon, Lucius manages to succeed in his goal to make Keret happy. Alas, the fate could not have them falling easily into that hard gained happiness, and a serious wound has Keret fighting to keep his master alive just as he realized that he might have fallen in love with him.

Quite the controversial idea I might say, seeing as slaves were often treated as nothing back then. I find it highly unlikely a Roman Citizen to treat his slave like Lucius does. In my mind, Lucius was a bit over the top there. As for Keret, while he is quite the charming character I found him such a passive voice. To be completely honest, the entire read was rather passive. So many emotions failed to pass on to me, from Keret’s gruesome past to his and Lucius newfound love, everything was rather bland. I disliked the fact that while there were such shocking events right there in the text, they were smothered in a shying-from-cruel narration, whit took the much-needed edge from the entire book.

The obstacles this pair had to overcome lost their importance, the victory over them lost its shine, and the most intense scene in the entire story that should have been when Keret finally gives himself willingly to Lucius, was barely touched in the haste of telling the tale.

I feel so bereft right now, so empty. The end really was a punch in the gut. I simply couldn’t believe that I was reading this entire book for THAT. I still don’t. As much as I liked the idea and the story and the era and God those Panonians I feel at a loss.

Blurb:Red. He’s happy enough at first to be having sex with a man – Heaven knows, it’s better than what he’s running away from! – but it isn’t too long before Red’s sexual extravagances are driving the two of them apart. It’s only when Henry’s trying to manage on his own again that he at last begins to achieve a little perspective – on inversion in general, on himself in particular, and even on his relationship with Red. That’s when he starts to wonder if maybe there isn’t a way back for them after all, but this time it will definitely have to be on his terms …

Purchase Link: http://www.manifoldpress.co.uk/2013/07/montana-red/

Review:Henry was running away from his old life when a group of gangsters attacked and left him for dead. Red is surprised to find a naked man almost dead in his gulley.

Henry survives and they become friends though Henry liked things about Red and the ranch there was a lot he didn’t like.

This story is very complicated but in a good way. None of these characters are your average character and this is far from a sweet storybook romance, but I found it fabulous. I couldn’t put it down once I started.

There are so many twists and turns, some good, some bad; that it really made you wonder especially about Red. I adored the relationship between the two men with their ups and downs and misunderstandings, and how both loved the other in his own way after both were so different.

I sure didn’t see the turnaround coming in Henry, but loved it, as much as the change in Red, though it wasn’t the expected. I think this what I loved so much was it was unexpected, it has harsh sometimes brutal moments though none cruel. I also liked the ending and found it pretty satisfying, yet surprising.
I highly recommend this if you like stories based in the old west, gay ranchers, rough sex, unexpected twists, characters that change and grow, lots of hot mansex, good BDSM and a satisfactory happy for now ending.

Blurb:  It’s 1991, and a group of English football fans are driving across Belgium; their trip takes them through the site of a former battle, and that’s when a strange sequence of events begins. For Dennis and Allan, colleagues who cordially dislike each other, this means journeying further still – into what appears to be the past, and into the lives of two men who travelled this way seventy-five years earlier, whose unfinished love-affair remains to be played out in full. As they move backwards and forwards in time Dennis and Allan have only themselves to rely on, no markers to show them where they’re going, and no real certainty of ever finding their way home again.

Review:   This story starts out in a rather lighthearted way with an interesting collection of friends, coworkers and acquaintances heading out on a journey to watch a sports game.  They bicker, tease, nag and argue but everyone seems to be getting along okay.  The journey home poses some problem when the ferry company they used goes belly up and they are forced to find an alternate route home.  The route they choose takes them into a rather isolated area on a long stretch of empty road.  Pitch black with an eerie mist rolling in; the author does a great job of portraying the slightly spooky surroundings just as Allen starts acting very strangely. As he dives out of the car with Dennis fast on his heals they seem to cross a barrier of sorts that leads them back in time.  In ‘real life’ Dennis and Allen have a sort of casual dislike for each other.  As they are thrust back in time they begin to replay a 75-year-old love affair between two World War 1 soldiers.

I found it interesting how the author had Dennis and Allen essentially living two lives each.  While they had the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of their current selves they also had those same things floating around in their heads from their 75-year-old counterparts. It created quite a bit of tension within the characters minds as they tried to decide whether they liked each other or not.

I enjoyed this story.  Not only the main characters but the secondary characters were very well written as well.  It is written with a very heavy British influence in terms of the writing style and some of the phrases were totally new to me but I had no problem understanding them in the context of the story.  Overall, a very well written story with a nice time travel twist.

Blurb: Father Esteve hires Xavi to trace the true owners of the gold found in the crypt of San Pedro-by-the-Wall, but it’s an old and tangled web. Someone has an undisclosed agenda, and a rising tide of anti-vampire reaction sweeps through Barcelona. It’s focused on Xavi and Andreas, which causes additional problems with the vampires of Renaissance. Then Xavi meets a handsome young man who isn’t all he seems, and that’s when things begin to get even more complicated…

Purchase Link: http://www.manifoldpress.co.uk/2013/01/fools-rush/

Review: This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Xavi and Andreas have their hands full; Xavi tracing the owners of the gold and Andreas keeping the peace with the humans. it isn’t long before Xavi is dragged into a plot to discredit the vampires and he has to turn to Andreas for help.

Okay, first off, I have to hold my hands up and admit I haven’t read the other books in the Fool’s Odyssey series. no, I have not been living under a rock. I just haven’t got around to reading them *ducks head*. But, I am going to rectify that. Xavi and Andreas are an established couple, but Xavi still feels the need to push the boundaries. when it comes down to it, he no longer really has the desire to test Andreas’ control. Andreas knows that Xavi will sometimes test him and Xavi knows how Andreas will take control.  Andreas also realizes that Xavi really doesn’t recognize how he really feels. During this story, Xavi does seem to evolve before your eyes, he goes from a slight brat to a more responsible vampire, resisting his urges and finally admitting to himself what Andreas truly means to him.

The storyline is good, the Renaissance is getting publicity that some of them really don’t want. there are stories appearing in the papers that are anti-vampire and Xavi hunts for the true owners of the gold that was discovered at San Pedro-by-the-Wall. The complex weave of the storyline is really good, having each string entwined with each other until they come together in a pretty bow, and a twist that was very surprising. All the characters were well written and Xavi is the perfect foil for Andreas, keeping Andreas on his toes and also giving Andreas a reason to shed his hard shell.

I have to recommend this to those who love vampires, a great storyline, twists and surprises, some hot sex and a brilliant happy ending.

Blurb: Joshua Delaney and Carmine Angelo Trezini, cop and low-level mobster, should have absolutely nothing in common; yet, accidentally brought together, they rapidly became both lovers and allies against important crime figure Matthew Picano. Of course, taking down a man like that was never going to be easy – but Josh has no idea of the scale of the sacrifice he will eventually be called upon to make.

Purchase Link: http://www.manifoldpress.co.uk/2011/10/the-valley-of-the-shadow-of-death/

Review: Josh convinces Angelo to turn against Matthew Picano, a mob boss. They begin an affair but Angelo is convinced that he won’t live long when Picano finds out that he has turned on him.

This is a well written book that has a very good story-line and plot. Angelo is the guy that I fell in love with in this book.  He just seems to live life to the fullest, embracing his love for Josh and just going with it without procrastinating about how soon it is or the fact that the man was straight. Josh on the other hand I began to wonder if he had any feelings at all, at one point, as he just seemed to go along with the relationship with Angelo and it seemed to take him a long time to feel love for Angelo.  and he never told Angelo that he loved him, not once in the book and yeah I checked.

The story is great and kept me reading, I liked the characters and thought they had great potential but Josh came across as a bit of a dead fish, even with his wondering about his reaction to Angelo it felt clinical and not emotional in any way. The gathering of the statements and the court scenes were great and towards the end Josh was more open with Angelo and seemed to genuinely have fallen in love with him. The ending was devastating and I really thought that it would have ended differently.

This book I will recommend to those who love cop/mobster love affairs, court room drama and gentle love.
