Blurb: Duncan’s wanted to do a scene with Toby ever since he met him in their first study group of the year, but when Toby failed to flirt back, or pick up on a single kinky hint, Duncan knew he had no choice but to back off. He always thought that Toby would be interesting if he ever came out of the kinky closet—but it never even occurred to Duncan that he’d suddenly find the boy standing on the doorstep of the club he runs.

Toby’s been fascinated and intimidated by Duncan in equal measure for months. When his flat-mate bails out on a kinky play-date with Duncan at the last moment, Toby’s need overtakes his nervousness. Before he has time to think twice, he’s there, offering himself up as a replacement sub for the night.

This might be the only chance Toby has to fulfill all his fantasies surrounding Duncan—and he’s determined to make it count.

Review: For some reason this little novella made it at my most favorite Kim Dare reads. I’m going to try and pinpoint why exactly, though I might even fail.

So let’s see; there’s a kinky scene play coming out of thin air. Surprise is an element I adore in any story, but when it throws a Dom off of his balance, well let’s just say the story has my attention 100%. The sub in this occasion (and yes it’s a bit of a pattern for the series) is inexperienced and secretly pinning for this particular Dom, who by the way plays with his flat-mate. And that is the reason Toby is standing in front of Duncan’s door in the first place. His flat-mate can’t make their play-date and Toby offers himself. And therein you have reason #2 that had my attention. Toby has no freaking idea what on earth he’s getting himself into.

Now normally I don’t like this type of subs, but there is something about this character that simply draws me to him. He’s so freaking alluring I couldn’t resist him as a reader. The way the author molded him, his reaction, his questions, and his naiveté. Somehow all those little things make Toby so very sexy, and Duncan, hmmm I kind of liked his amusement to all Toby did, I like the fact that he was pinning for Toby too in secret. It was such a nice game played by circumstances and fate perhaps.

Once the scene started, I think I was lost to it. Hell I was lost to it the moment Duncan closed the door to Toby after a specific order. While nothing over the top – after all it’s just a spanking scene – this entire read was very intense and (God I hate repeating this word) sexy. There was some sort of sensuality slowly taking over every single word I read, and in the end, I felt as if I’d been enchanted with a spell.

The difference of this read from the rest of Kim Dare’s work I’ve read was that this one was done. There was nothing more and nothing less needed. That was it! Somehow it surprised me, I’m used to reads that leave questions or have a sequel following.

So did I like it? Oh yeah! I most definitely enjoyed this book and most of all this was not only erotic, but also so very fun. Strongly recommended for fans of the genre.

Blurb: Matthew and Stuart have been dating for more than five months and Stuart thinks things are going well—right up until the moment Matthew suggests they try something different, the kind of different that involves bondage, spanking, and leather.

Matthew’s been building up to making this suggestion for weeks, dropping subtle hints and hoping Stuart won’t completely freak out at the mention of kink. Now, with Matthew’s desires out in the open, all he can do is hope that introducing something different will make their relationship perfect rather than destroy it…

Review: Now this is not your average Dom/sub story. No, this isn’t even your average leather/kink story. This is a perfect start of a relationship.

Just like the blurb says Matthew has been working his courage to talk to Stuart about bring their relationship one step further. What I loved about it was the fact that these guys started dating without the kink element being noted from the beginning. They are your average vanilla guys who date and have vanilla sex.

When Matthew finally opens his mouth and mentions “different,” I must admit the entire restaurant scene where it happened was brilliant. Stuart’s reaction, although odd at first) came to make all the difference. I loved Stuart, brave, brave character.

When the guys finally have their scenes, it happened quite incidentally. Stuart’s behavior gives Matthew all he needs to know that if he doesn’t show Stuart that he’s different indeed from his past experience, he’ll never have a chance with Stuart again. But thing is that both Matthew and Stuart are too deep in their relationship to let it crash and burn, so both make the effort, both meet halfway there. And the result is lovely.

I’ve always thought Kim Dare had a nice pen, but the more she writes the better she gets. Both scenes involved in the story were fantastic. The emotions conveyed were done so brilliantly. I loved Stuart’s anxiety, his fear, and how he tried not to let that overwhelm him. I loved Matthew’s patience, his care, and determination. In the end, even as the sexual intensity was fantastic, I love the way that their love showed in this story, how great the blend love and kink was and well, the spanking scene was perhaps the most perfect one I’ve read so far.

Recommended? Oh Hell yeah!

Blurb: Can a temporary collar ever lead to a permanent relationship? Mark and Mr. Nolan are about to find out.

Mr. Nolan’s last relationship lasted for over two decades. But, since suddenly finding himself single, two years ago, he has struggled to find a submissive who can fill the void in his life. Maybe a temporary arrangement is exactly what he needs to ease him back into the lifestyle he loves so much.

Mark’s never experienced life under the protection of a good dom. He’s merely had a series of abusive partners. He’s used to being treated as a temporary feature in a man’s life, then thrown away when they tire of him.

When mutual friends push them together, the last thing Mr. Nolan, or Mark, expects is to end up hoping a temporary collar will become permanent.

Reader Advisory: Please note that the stories in the Collared series are connected solely by theme. They can all be read as standalone titles and in any order. Mr. Nolan previously made an appearance as a secondary character in Bi Now, Gay Later, however it is not necessary to have read that book first.

Review: I’ve been a fan of Ms. Dare, since I started reading her books.  And although I don’t always go head over heels with all her works, I have to say I did like this one quite a bit. In book three of the Collared series we meet Mr. Nolan and Mark. Each of these characters is interesting in his own way.

Mr. Nolan is a long time Dom who had lost his submissive of twenty plus years for nearly two years now. In all this time his friends have been introducing him with many subs in an attempt to fill the void his Frank left, without results. Mark, on the other hand, is a natural sub who’s had one bad relationship after another with several sadistic and abusive men. His idea of self-worth is utterly disordered and in short terms he’s completely screwed inside out. Damaged is perhaps an understatement.

The pair meets when friends they have in common introduce them and ask Mr. Nolan to take Mark in under his care temporarily. It’s all that’s needed for Mark to try to be worthy of a Dom such as Mr. Nolan. And the sexual part, while not exactly what Mark expected was definitely what he always dreamed. Even if it means that he has to fight a ghost in order to keep it.

I liked this story very much. If it wasn’t for the fact that almost all Ms. Dare’s characters have this common fault of not hearing what’s being said instead making their own conclusions in their head, I would have enjoyed it even more. I suppose the for years abused brain of Mark couldn’t easily accept that a Dom could be kind to him or even considerate, but still it was irritating when he heard one thing and understood another.

Nevertheless this was quite a sweet story as well. This author has a unique ability into making even the shortest of stories and ideas no matter the genre turn into romance. For me that is exactly what this work is about. A romance born out of need and circumstances and perfect timing for both characters. Yet again my dislike for the quickly dropped “I love you” line tampered my enthusiasm, but hey, I’m too cynical to trust that feeling in the spawn of a week.

Bottom end, I loved the story and totally recommend it for fans of the genre.

Blurb: Having been given a sneak peek into Joe’s world, Scott feels it’s only right that he should return the favor.

Perhaps Scott didn’t do so many interesting and kinky things in the past, but he did have a life before he met Joe. When he was in university, Scott worked in a department store and spent many hours fantasizing about the delivery men he saw from the store window. Now, Scott invites Joe to the same store, after it has closed for the night, and Joe decides to show Scott what he would have done if he had found him back then.

For once, Scott’s going to be the one surrounded by the familiar, not Joe. But, does that mean the power balance is about to shift?

Review: This time Scott has invited Joe in a part of his past life and his fantasy. He wants to be taken by an unknown, strong delivery man, that will not take no for answer. He wants to feel completely helpless and unable to do anything. Joe is more than happy to oblige, all the time coming closer and closer, not to what a Dom should feel for his sub, rather what a man would feel for his lover. While Joe slips more and more into the delights of being with and wanting only one man, Scott finds it difficult to do or think anything other than what Joe orders him, what Joe wants from him. More and more it seems that his fears and desires, his entire world turns around Joe.

I liked this book, too.  Maybe not as hot as the previous, but now we see a connection forming between the two characters, things falling into place and a relation blooming. What’s even greater is that while all these start happening, both Joe and Scott seem to not really realize it, and that intrigues me even more. This book was clearly about Scott’s fantasy, however, while Joe was the very Dom I expected him to be, the fantasy of having a delivery stranger taking you didn’t work so well for me. Nonetheless an enjoyable read again, I’d recommend this to anyone who’s into being helpless and forced fantasies 😉

Review: Scott has been given his orders, he is expected to follow them, and he does. As difficult as it is for him to enter a world he doesn’t belong in, as many doubts that trouble his thought, he manages to go through with it. Not knowing who is on the other side of the partition doesn’t matter anymore. Joe wouldn’t hurt him, would he?

As much as Joe loved his submissive following his orders it is clear to him that the trip at the glory hole has truly unfazed Scott. Understanding hit home when Scott admits that he was trying to figure out if the man behind the hole was really Joe or if he’d been playing a “joke” on him having a stranger. Someone has hurt his sub in the past and that makes Joe’s fury rise. The possessiveness that controls him, and the need to protect his submissive catch him off guard. Never before has Joe felt like this. Scott finally understands that Joe will not lie to him, especially after what his Dom decides to gift him.

This series continues as hot as ever slowly revealing the character’s feelings. Reasons of why Scott is so shy and closed come to light. His desire to do anything Joe asks from him, even if that goes against his survival instincts, show his blossoming submissive nature, and I loved the display of jealousy and fury from Joe. He slowly is putting both his feet into the “caring” pit and I love it how he doesn’t seem to realize it or even how to handle it. This was definitely another enjoyable read and if you’re into the series keep reading.
