Hello there dear readers and followers of MM Good Book Reviews. First off I hope youā€™ve had a nice Christmas and that everything went smoothly, if not according to plan. I just love this holidays and how tricky they are. We try so hard and make so many plans for theĀ perfectĀ dinner, theĀ perfectĀ gifts, and theĀ perfectĀ everything, only to have one small detail ruining it all. We immerse ourselves so much into expectations that we forget to simply live and enjoy.

And oh my, how much this talk is reminding me of a new release from a peculiar author. Yes, Iā€™m talking Kol Anderson the-prisoneraboutĀ HeartĀ byĀ KolĀ Anderson, which I had the pleasure of reading recently. Now, I say peculiar because those of you who are already acquainted with Kolā€™s work know that said work is a bit dark, hence this new title was a bit of a surprise. But Iā€™ll say no more. Youā€™ll have to read the review and comment down below for the chance to win a copy of this title.

And with that Iā€™ll leave you to Kolā€™s thoughts and upcoming news. Enjoy!

Kol Anderson:

Kol Anderson slave_newItā€™s always a little exciting to watch the calendar change. Guess we all need a fresh start. But thereā€™s no point in getting that fresh start if youā€™re going to make resolutions you canā€™t keep. Perhaps this year you can finally learn to accept yourself as you are, instead of desiring changes that other people have told you must be made. Maybe you donā€™t mind being overweight, but it bugs you that youā€™re not someoneā€™s idea of pretty. No one can be someoneā€™s idea of pretty forever, so what are you going to do when you reach the expiry date on your skin and body? Better to find someone who didnā€™t fall in love with you for all that in the first place.

Okay so, I know what youā€™re thinkingā€”guy who practically lives to write dark stuff talking about love. How ironic. Well I can assure you we all want fairytales. Some of us are just led into believing that weā€™re never going to find it. So we become and take away other peopleā€™s happiness, or constantly keep putting ourselves down. Life is nothing but an image inside our heads. Some fantasy we create, every living moment to survive and thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. My fantasy, is that Iā€™m a writerā€”and it kind of seems like a lot of people are starting to believe it šŸ˜‰

Oh yeah and by the way, HEART released. Iā€™m still so lost in these characters and that world I canā€™t stop writing their stories. Iā€™ve already begun work on the second book and the third one is completely planned. So thereā€™s definitely going to be more.

Blurb:Ā What if the person whose memory you held on to isn’t the person you thought he was?

Lucas Mayer is a hit-man, running from his past, and the one person he can think of having a future with is Roman Woodrow, a guy who’s always had trouble keeping steady relationships. Among the many addictions of Roman, is the devious and manipulative, Daniel Jones. But Lucas can’t give up Daniel’s secret without giving up his own.

Review: Ouch! Yes, that is the first thought/exclamation that hit my brain when this book ended. It was definitely a surprise ending, but then again the entire read was surprising.

Roman! Oh my God what a character; for half the read I thought he was a slut, for the second half that he was adorable, and in between I thought he was crazy or something definitely wrong with him for allowing things and people do what they did in his life. Heā€™s such a complicated character that you have to be on your toes to understand the twists and turns his life gets. I was definitely shocked the first time he acted somehow unexpectedly and then started paying more attention to it all. I donā€™t know how to really feel about him though. You see, he meets this nice man, Luke ā€“ the fact heā€™s a hit man has nothing to do with how nice he is ā€“ yet he leaves him, even while giving him some faux hope that there might be something more for them in store. He meets him again three years later, and still he doesnā€™t take advantage of this beautiful thing that is right in front of his hands, but goes and gets involved with Daniel.

And oh my God, Daniel, could I wish for someoneā€™s death more? I am speechless with how Daniel and Romanā€™s relationship started and, and continued (yes, the double ā€œandā€ is intentional). I am speechless that Luke allowed it too. I am just speechless. But it happened and suddenly Iā€™m finding myself reading a book where this wealthy guy is having a relationship with two men, one a con and the other a hit-man (he doesnā€™t know any of that of course) but Iā€™m tearing my hair off by how heā€™s leading them both. Ah, frustrating!!! And just when I think Iā€™ve figured things out, then everything turns around and laughs at my face for daring to think such a thing. Yeah, heads up, expect the unexpected or better yet, expect nothing and just let yourself go and feel whatever is given to you.

So, there were certain things that I liked and disliked. First of there were the sparse typos (hopefully it was just my copy that had them) throughout the book. Secondly and most important to my eyes was the assassinā€™s profile. For me that was a little bit hastily done. See none of the assassins I know (donā€™t ask) would have left a target alive in close range. They go and put one bullet in the heart and two on the head in order to avoid what actually happened in this book, a recovered target. I suppose the plot wouldnā€™t have flowed the way it was meant if the target died, but still the assassinā€™s profile failed big time there. The other was the fact that Luke tries for months to help Roman away from Danielā€™s clutches, and I kept thinking the whole timeĀ why on ever-loving Earth doesnā€™t he put a bullet in his head?Ā I mean, heā€™s a hit-man for crying out loud, why, oh why doesnā€™t he eliminate competition? Pff, such a wuss, made me think that he didnā€™t deserve Roman after all, especially when Daniel simply waltzed in and grabbed him.

And this brings me to the things I liked. Can you see the grin in my face? No? Imagine it then, because this book and its approach on the erotic parts will put one on your faces as well. Whew, what a stimulatingĀ  part this was. From slow and loving to harsh and rough and tough, from vanilla to our of this earth bdsm, it had me panting and glowing and panting some more. I donā€™t know what I loved more Roman/Luke or Roman/Daniel when the sex scenes came out to play. Being a pervert deep in my heart I canā€™t say no to kinky stuff, even though the way that kink began had my hair standing, and often I wished, oh how much I wished damn Luke was a bit more aggressive instead of the ever-loving considerate partner. The merging of them two though was just fantastic and the end result was utterly erotic. The mĆ©nage was avoided however no matter how possible that seemed at some point, but for lovers of heavier kink there are some multiple partners scenes there too. Dark and delicious is what they are.

Overall this was a very interesting and quite surprising book, that wants you to be on your toes constantly, throwing twists of the plot at every turn and enhancing it with some heavy power erotica. You think this sounds interesting? I definitely recommend you give it a try. Enjoy!

But the minute Tyler gives him some attention, sparks begin to fly and inhibitions are thrown awayā€¦ just when things couldnā€™t get more confusing for Cameron, his boyfriend starts having some issues. Review:Ā  Shortā€¦ where are my other two colors? *sniff*

Cam has been in love with his brotherā€™s best friend, Tyler, for as long as he can remember. The fact that heā€™s in a steady relationship right now doesnā€™t detour his impending infidelity. Neil has been distant and borderline abusive and Cam finds solace with the man heā€™s wanted since he was a boy. But Tyler is not boyfriend material and reminds Cam of that at every turn. When Tyler realizes who Neil is and that the man has a mean streak, he does a complete 180 and tries to convince Tyler to dump Neil and move in with him. Cam is so confused he doesnā€™t know what to do, or who to choose.

There were so many issues with this novella that it took away from the overall story. It was a mass of major topics crammed into forty something pages, and the story suffered. I could see underlying potential for a great novel, and Iā€™d be eager to view this title again if Anderson did just that.

Warning: This book contains scenes of rape, abuse, forced drug abuse and attempted suicide that may disturb some readers.

Review: Aaron works for an escort service providing sex to the highest bidders. He has fallen for one of his clients, but knows there is no future for them. When Aaron is sent to a new client it looks like it might be an enjoyable night, but Vincent has plans for Aaron that turns Aaronā€™s world into a nightmare.

This is a great story if you are looking for a dark erotica of torment with hidden hope. Aaron is callously taken from his world and shut into a nightmare, beaten and raped to break him down and turn him into a perfect slave. Vincent is a man who only cares about the money. Aaron is just another body, who will turn him a profit. But, first, he has to break him. Aaron has a secret hope though and clings to it during his darkest hours. Vincent begins to fall under Aaronā€™s spell, even as he tries to break Aaron down.

This story is not for the faint of heart. It is brutal, descriptive, bloody, and nasty. There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. But, that tunnel is long and the light keeps flickering, but it give us, the reader, and hope. Aaron finds himself a prisoner due to his callous bosses. Now he is in the hands of sadist and all Aaron has to cling to is the love he felt for one of his clients. You canā€™t help but have hope that Aaron will find a way out. But it isnā€™t a strong hope as you see everything that Aaron goes through. There are no feelings other than loathing for Vincent. There are no redeeming qualities about him, even as he seems to soften towards Aaron. The sexual aspects to this story are all non-con. There is one scene where it isnā€™t as harsh, but only because Aaron loses himself in fantasy. While Aaron suffers through his nightmare existence, the client he fell for is going through his own crisis and is searching for Aaron. That is something that gives us hope. Especially, when he discovers some of what has happened. Ā

This isnā€™t a story to read if you like light and fluffy, happily ever after or consensual sex. Itā€™s the story to read if you want harsh and brutal. If you want to see someone being broken or if you want to hold tight to the hope that rescue will eventually come.Ā
