*Title was free on publisher’s website at time of this posting* Title: A Most Unusual Courtship, 2nd Edition Series: The Mage and the Leathersmith, #0.5 Author: Nancy M. Griffis Genre: Historical (Regency England)/ Fantasy / Alternative World Length: Short (32 pages) ISBN: 978-1-63476-156-7 Publisher: Dreamspinner Press LLC (April 13th 2015) Heat Level: Low Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥ 4 Hearts Reviewer: Leigh Blurb: Gerald Smithson, master leathersmith, has ample reason to distrust mages. He doesn’t take their commissions and steers clear of them wherever possible. When Lord Leo Harris tries to hire him, Gerald sends the mage packing. Unfortunately, the simple act of Leo entering his shop brings Gerald to the attention of a Dark mage who kidnaps him as a chance to get to Leo.
Now Leo must not only rescue Gerald, but find a way to win his heart. It will be an unusual courtship, to say the least.
Review: This was a cute and interesting little short. It takes place in Regency England I believe, but it’s an alternative world. The Ancient Greeks long ago approved same-sex marriage and mages are commonplace.
Gerald is a local leathersmith reputed to be the best in London, exactly what Leo is looking for. But due to past experiences with mages Gerald refuses to do any work for them so he sends Leo on his way. Not that Leo lets that deter him, or the fact that Gerald gets kidnapped.
Not a lot of information is given on the characters, so their history is a little incomplete and questions are left unanswered. But it was definitely enough to pique my interest for more.

Blurb: Damian and Laurent had danced around their attraction for years while fighting evil and saving the innocent. Stopping a demon from killing a homeless pregnant girl just before Christmas sets them on a path to stopping a hybrid demon from coming to power and maybe, finally, finding a way to be together in their crazy, dangerous lives.
Review: Laurent is an 800-year-old immortal demon killer. He spends most of his time killing hunting down then killing vampires and demons to protect the innocent. The rest of his time is spent pining over his human partner, Damian. Two years ago Laurent saved Damian during a fight, and the two have been fighting off evil and their mutual attraction ever since. With Christmas, approaching Laurent has a special gift in mind for Damian, if they survive the recent high-level demon they’re tracking.
I do hope that this is just a synopsis of better things to come. I completely loved the premise, and for so few pages, the core of the story was explained well. I only got a make out session in the end, and I want more for these two characters. An Immortal and a Human demon hunting pair that become lovers is fascinating to me, I pray this becomes a full novel at least.
If you’re looking for something short and slightly sexy with a paranormal twist for the Holiday, this is perfect.

Blurb: Boston Police Detective Kyle Kearney’s been burned by love before and takes a hands-off approach to his love life… until he meets book expert Roman Archambault. After Roman’s invaluable assistance with a troubling murder case, and egged on by his police partner, Kyle asks Roman out. Their instant attraction sweetly develops into much more.
Review: This story is very cute and sweet. Although the main character is a homicide policeman, it lacks the angst that usually follows them. This focuses more on the sweet beginning of a relationship.
Kyle is a very nice character and quite hot as well, but the fact that his job is demanding, always butts in when least expected, and on top it’s quite dangerous has left Kyle with a series of failed dates and relationships that died before they even started. Until he met Roman.
Now Roman is a most eclectic character. He’s French and he has that charm following him. He’s the dream Kyle never dared having; calm, sweet, understanding, and incredibly hot.
What I mostly liked in this story though was their first date. It was as awkward as a real life first date goes. Loved it, loved the fact that not everything was immaculate and that a great dose of reality was included.
As I said a very sweet read that makes you go all “awww” in the end. Recommended!
