Review: This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Simeon is a mountain lion shifter and part of the Underground working to break the choke-hold that the Glitnir councils has on all paranormals, when he meets Asher, the half blood demon, his attraction for the sexy blood demon flairs. Asher is a blood demon and is a slave and a warrior. He keeps his family connections secret. When his half-brother Phin asks for his help, he doesn’t know if he can take the chance, especially when he has an annoying mountain lion shifter with him. Together Simeon and Asher have to convince the mountain lion guild to join them against the elves who are trying to take over the throne, and to give the blood demons their freedom. But will Asher’s and Simeon’s attraction prove to be a distraction from what is important to the Underground and the freedom of the paranormals?

Well, well, well, we go further afield in this addition to the Supernatural Bounty Hunters series by entering the Second Kingdom and discovering just how far the Giltnir council rot has spread. Simeon is a character that has you wondering if he ever cared about anything other than his problems because his complete disregard when he first meets Asher has you wanting to slap him, but he does redeem himself quite nicely. Asher has every right to be aloof, with the fear of what could happen if anyone ever discovered who his father is hovering over his head and the treatment of Blood demons, it is no wonder that he tries to keep Simeon at arm’s length.

We see some changes beginning in this story and the progression of the overall storyline throughout the series is moving forward at a very nice pace, the threads connecting the different species is getting stronger and the Underground movement is gaining force. With this story we have some exciting developments that effect both Simeon and Asher, we see a desperate attempt to stop a usurper from taking over the Elven throne and the Felines are pushed to action, but the best thing in this story has to be their relationship that starts out rocky, but it won’t be denied.

Both Asher and Simeon are great characters and their relationship moves quickly, it’s also very hot with both characters being passionate. The writing is good and flows pretty smoothly and we see characters from previous books so we can see how they are doing and the strain that their revolution is having on them. I must admit to enjoying this story and the way it is progressing, it is opening up further to include a wider range of species, drawing them together for a better future.

I recommend this story to those who love the paranormal in all its variety, great characters who make you react, a brilliant storyline that has far to go and a love that stands through danger and change and a great ending.

Blurb: A Navy SEAL with PTSD, a Barman starting a new life. Maybe they can find love in Ellery.

Travis Baranski, Navy SEAL, is the first veteran to attend the Ellery Mountain Veteran Center. He is having a hard time coming to terms with what he had seen and what he has done. When he has a very public meltdown in Ellery stores, Avery Gideon steps up to the plate and helps him.

Avery Gideon, a man cut off from his family for being gay, runs the only bar in town – The Alibi – and listens to many a person’s problems whilst trying to forget his own. He sees something in the wounded warrior who needs a friend and very soon finds himself falling in love with Travis.

Nothing will deter him from helping Travis, or from making Travis see he’s still capable of loving Avery in return.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Travis is the first veteran at Ellery Mountain Veteran Center. Travis was a SEAL and after a mission gone wrong has several scars inside and out, trying to recover mentally is much harder than he hoped but the Veteran Center is slowly helping. When Travis has a meltdown in the grocery store Avery is the man who steps in and helps. Avery runs The Alibi; he listens to people’s problems as he serves them their drinks trying to forget his own problems with his estranged family. When he meets Travis he sees something in the other man who has him wanting to help him and it isn’t long before he’s head over heels in love and determined to show Travis that he is worthy of that love.

This is a wonderful addition to the Ellery Mountain series introducing us to more incredible characters and their story of love. Travis is struggling with PTSD and nightmares, his time in hostile hands has scarred him badly, and he knows he has a long journey ahead of him before he can really begin to cope with the past. Avery loves his life in Ellery; he has put his overbearing father behind him and carved out a new life for himself as the barman every talk to. When Avery and Travis first meet, it isn’t in the best of circumstances but both men feel an attraction and they begin a slow dance of courtship.

Ah hell, this has to be my favorite Ellery Mountain book so far with both Travis and Avery being incredible characters tugging at your heartstrings as their story unfolds. Avery is wonderful, so patient, and loving and he is the perfect man for Travis. Travis is a man torn by suffering, but he is incredible with his understanding of his own limitations but doesn’t let them rule him. Their relationship is slow but oh so powerful and the love they develop is especially strong because of the time they take as Travis begins to heal. While they fall in love, we see how well the Veteran Center is doing, we catch up with the characters from previous stories, and we see how Mikey is recovering from the brutal attack in The Paramedic and the Writer.

I really can’t tell you how much I love this series and the development of each and every character, and I can’t tell you how much I love the support that shines through the pages as we continue to discover more love in Ellery, but we also see a touch of bigotry coming through from the ignorant which makes you grit your teeth.

I recommend this to those who love damaged men pushing through their demons, support and love, a slow romance, incredible characters and a great ending that has you wanting Mikey’s story in The Agent and the Model

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Mikhail is babysitting the last of the rescued children when they are attacked by Sirens; rescue comes from an unexpected source in the shape of a sexy dragon shifter Jin. Bob and Sam come back from dropping Mal off at her new school to find the bathroom destroyed and a new quest to undertake…. returning the little dragon shifter princess home and discovering who was behind her kidnapping. Jin is surprised to discover his mate is a vampire/siren hybrid, but Mikhail isn’t sure if he could be a dragons mate.

Dragon’s *sigh* I just love dragon’s, and this story is an excellent paranormal with a horrid new enemy. Mikhail is left in charge for only a short amount of time when Siren’s attack with the intention of snatching the last remaining child, Eliza, when Jin comes to the rescue they realize that a dragon must have been involved with the original kidnapping. Jin, Mikhail, Sam, and Bob along with Eliza head back to the Dragon Mountains to return Eliza to the safety of her father and to discover who would want to get rid of her. Mikhail and Jin also have to find out if their mating stands a chance, because Mikhail doesn’t have much hope of anyone really wanting a vampire/siren hybrid.

This story is a wonderful addition to the End Street Detective Agency continuing the kidnapped children/ siren storyline while weaving slightly darker elements into it to give us an exciting dangerous story. While we have met Mikhail in previous books, this book gives us insight into his life and you can’t help but admire him, as his past is unfolded. Jin is a very sexy new character who is also tough, but sweet and vulnerable at times. We see both men instantly connect but because of Mikhail’s mixed heritage, Mikhail doesn’t recognize, at first, that Jin is his mate. Jin is so understanding of Mikhail’s qualms and they really are a fantastic couple when they finally get it together.

The rest of the storyline reveals more than just the siren’s involvement and we discover that someone, who Jin thought was a good friend, is a traitor. We see Sam make an ill-advised deal in his desperation to save someone, and he is delightful in his worry for Mal. Bob and Sam’s relationship continues to develop and they are brilliant together in this story, as well as the support they show their friend. We also get an excellent ending with hints for the next case.

I recommend this to those who love brilliant paranormal investigations, danger and mad dragons, new storyline directions, great characters, incredible hot sex and a brilliant ending that leads us to the next book.

Blurb: Six years ago, Adam broke Scott’s heart, but now he’s back in Scott’s life and Scott is rightly suspicious.

Is it a case of second chances? Or will history repeat itself?

Review: This is a lovely and romantic story about redemption.

They were once in love, but they were young, one blind, and the other stupid. Harsh? I don’t think so.

When Adam broke Scott’s heart six years ago, they were both at fault. Adam though he’d get the easy money and have a nice, easy life. Stupid!

Scott thought he had the love of his life and their future programmed, when there were leads that told differently. Blind!

It took some police officers to shock that out of Scott’s system, get him moving, or rather running, and trying to mend his heart. Six years later the piercing pain caused by the sight of his ex-lover seems as raw as ever. Now Adam is chasing him, trying to apologize and perhaps win him back. But they never counted on the fury all this accumulated pain has released.

The first part of this story was marvelous. The characters’ reactions were real and had you engrossed in the story in no time at all. The feelings and emotions swirling around both Scott and Adam were so credibly written I thought they would have a pretty hard time getting to talk to each other without Scott reaping Adam a new one.

But right then the twist happened and Adam found himself compromised and in a very vulnerable situation, causing Scott’s protective streak to hit full force. Years of bitterness were forced ahead to be confronted, and years of loneliness and desolate feelings were forced to be acknowledged.

I loved how Adam felt that he deserved the way Scott treated him, yet still faced it with an air of dignity, despite the resignation that colored his every move. I loved how drama-free the context was, how that aftertaste of bitterness from ruining your life and that of your beloved one was there, yet it didn’t sully the text with overbearing emotions.

Yes, it is safe to say that the writing in this book is very good, and while the theme in itself is not light, the way it was written made it easy to read, easy to like, and didn’t add any heaviness or steal the escapism purpose from the read.

I enjoyed the story a lot; I loved both characters very much. Adam, that seemed so “alone” in the world, so desolate, and yet not giving up on what he treasured most. And Scott, that despite his lost trust and his broken heart, dared to dive into those frightening waters again and give them both a second chance.

I might have felt a bit uneasy about how single-minded Adam was on being the man Scott deserved, and how Scott, this and Scott that. It was as if he was only trying to better his life for Scott, instead of himself, no matter what Scott’s decision would end up to be. There were times that I felt that he would go back and ruin his life again should Scott not forgive him. But I got over it as I flew with the story and its romanticism.

Bottom end Chase the Sun is a perfect book for all those who love a good written romance. Strongly recommended!

Review: Josh and Connor have moved to the small town of Black Creek to start afresh after a hate crime in the city nearly cost one of them their lives, Josh takes over his deceased grandfathers veterinary clinic and Connor is starting over in the sheriff’s office. Connor becomes interested in a series of unsolved crimes going back over fifty years that are attributed to the Black Creek Creeper and decides to try to solve some of them. But there is a deeper secret being hidden in Black Creek and Connor stumbles across it when he is viciously attacked in the woods.

This is a pretty interesting paranormal story that is shrouded in mystery. Connor and Josh are great characters, both of them deeply in love and starting anew in the town where Josh’s grandfather lived. Connor is having a slightly harder time settling in the quite town after the noisy hustle of the city and he is suspicious of everything, Josh has settled in nicely loving the challenge of working with bigger animals. But when something happens to Connor and he changes Josh is willing to sell up if it means keeping the man he loves, but Connor has discovered something he doesn’t quite believe himself and has no words to tell Josh what has happened.

Ah, this story is like a breath of fresh air, so different from the typical shifter stories that you come across. A dangerous lone wolf seems determined to decimate the wolves of Black Creek and Connor and Josh get dragged into the danger by accident, which causes a strain in their relationship as Josh tries to accept what has happened. Connor is the poor soul who stumbles on the town secret and his situation is beautifully described, Josh’s reaction is one of the best I have ever seen and I was so thankful that he didn’t just throw himself into Connor’s arms but held back to process what he had learned.

We have a pretty well written story that has interesting details revealed, the storyline doesn’t drag but is just right for an evening read, and we have some really hot sex as we see the great relationship between Josh and Connor. The shifter secret is really well covered and if you didn’t know this was a shifter story going in, and then the reactions of the towns people and sheriff’s department would have you thinking they were all hiding a deep dark murderous killer. The other characters are really well written and you can’t help but look at them through Connor’s eyes and view their suspicious behavior with trepidation.

I recommend this to those that love shifters, standing by your man, hot sex and the discovery of a secret that you’d rather not have known.

Review:  Adam gets stuck with being the bodyguard to a ‘pretty boy’, otherwise known as actor Logan Brady. Logan has received threats and was involved in a near miss ‘hit and run’. It’s Adam’s responsibility to ensure Logan’s safety on U.K. soil, but Adam has to fight his attraction for the closeted TV star. Logan is freaked out by the threats and on top of his own personal confusion; he has a lot of decisions to make that don’t just impact him, but his close friends as well. Everything comes to a head in the U.K. and he can’t fight his attraction to Adam, but his stalker is still lurking around and their personal relationship may just interfere with their professional one.

This is a great story that makes you keep turning the pages as twists and turns emerges and heartfelt confessions are made. Adam hates ‘pretty boy’ duty as nearly every ‘pretty boy’ he has been assigned to has turned out to be a spoiled brat, but with this new assignment, he discovers that the man he’s guarding has hidden secrets and he has to fight his attraction for him. Logan has hidden in the shadows and behind his ‘girlfriend’ for fourteen years. He’s sick of hiding who he really is, but fears he will no longer get the acting parts. Having a stalker adds to his problems, but Adam turns out to be a really good thing. Adam is hot and having a fling with him may not be a great idea. But when they cross the boundaries, both of them find it hard to let Adam do his job.

I loved this story for its storyline, characters, and smooth flowing plot. R.J. Scott brings the characters to life, giving you insight into not only both main characters, but also into some of the supporting characters, like Stacia and Robert. She even gives the stalker a spine tingling personality! Adam and Logan have a wonderful connection and their attraction is tempered with the realities of their situation. They are a hot couple and they do take time before consummating their relationship (mainly because of circumstances), but there are enough scenes between Adam and Logan to whet your appetite.

I have to recommend this novel to those of you who love falling for the bodyguard or falling for the TV star. This is a great storyline fill with hot sex, psycho stalkers, wonderful characters and a very happy and wonderful ending.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Jamie moved to Ellery to start a new life away from the city, he works as a paramedic and is happy to work alongside his friend Liam, even if he makes excuses so he can avoid the Friday night meet-ups with all the happy couples. When Jamie and Max rescue a man from a car wreck Jamie begins to fall for the violet eyes and he wonders what the man’s story is, but the man has amnesia and there are many unanswered questions.

Ah, Ellery Mountain men are just something special and Jamie is no different from those that came before him. Jamie is a sweet character who loves his job, he goes that little bit further with the patients, caring for each and every one of them. When Jamie and Max rescue a man from a car wreck Jamie wants to know more about the handsome man, but until the death of the passenger of the car is cleared up he knows he can’t really get involved. John Doe (Ian) can’t remember what happened or who he is, he has flashes of memory but nothing that can really help him. When he does remember and the situation is resolved he makes his interest in Jamie known, but his own history might just count against him.

I really enjoyed this story where we find out a little of Jamie’s past that has scared him off adrenalin seekers for life. Both Ian and Jamie are great characters and they slot quite nicely together, even with Jamie’s fears that Ian will be running off chasing the next dangerous story. They are certainly hot together and although their first date ends with a terrible event, you can see the simmering attraction between them. The storyline is interesting, first with the mysterious circumstances surrounding Ian’s crash, then with the horrific attack on a secondary character and finally the developing relationship between Jamie and Ian, which is just a bit rocky.

The development of the Ellery series is continuing and broadening its horizons, we learn how Daniel’s Veteran house is coming along and we have a new development of a homophobic attack in the usually gay friendly Ellery. I can’t wait for the next installment of these sexy men, what may await us as the Veteran house is opened, and they get their first client in The Barman and the SEAL.

I recommend this to those that love mystery, daring rescues, hot men, hot sex, brilliant characters, men risking their hearts and a great ending.

Blurb: Mitchell Ryan, the recovering alcoholic bad boy, meets Doctor Liam Wolfe, the man who shows him it’s okay to love…
No one has ever understood Mitchell Askett. The bad boy. The alcoholic. The loser. Buying into the Ellery Mountain resort and placing down roots in the community for himself, his sister and his niece puts him on the radar of the Fridays and Doctor Liam Wolfe.

He soon realises he has friends in his new home who don’t judge him for what happened before and finally begins to escape his past. When he falls hard and fast for the doctor, he even sees a future for him in Ellery.

But when his new happiness is first threatened by family interference then by disaster, he begins to lose faith, until Liam shows him it’s okay to ask for help.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Mitchell is returning to Ellery Mountain after his family moved away when he was just a boy, he is returning for a quiet, peaceful, safe place for his sister and his niece, a place where they can call home. Mitchell had a reputation as bad boy though and he hopes it will stay in the past where it belongs, especially when he meets sexy doctor Liam. Liam is sympathetic to the uncle worrying over his niece in his hospital, but that sympathy is soon destroyed when Mitchell side swipes his car. Mitchell and Liam soon come to an understanding though and it is the beginning of something special.

This is a wonderful addition to the Ellery Mountain series where we see Liam, our favourite doctor, find his man. Mitchell’s return to Ellery is fraught with drama when his niece is rushed to the hospital, leaving Mitchell wondering if he has done the right thing with his move to Ellery. Liam makes his move on Mitchell when things get straightened out between them, finding what a loving gentle man he is and how much he cares for his sister and niece means more to Liam than some old gossip. Mitchell is happy with how their new start is going and the new friends being made, but he still has to worry about his parent’s interference.

This story really shows just how wonderful Ellery Mountain really is, people coming together and welcoming strangers into their midst’s, helping out where needed and offering friendship easily. Mitchell’s past was rocky but he has straightened himself out for the sake of his sister and his niece, returning to Ellery is for all of them and to get out from under the criticism of their parents. Mitchell is a character that warms your heart quickly, the fear and worry for his niece, the concern for his sister and the developing love he has for Liam shows him in a light that makes him shine. Liam might be a touch judgemental when he first learns of Mitchell’s alcoholism but he quickly sees the light and him and Mitchell are just wonderful together, he makes Mitchell realise that there are others to support and help him and that he doesn’t have to take it all on but can share the burden.

The Doctor and the Bad Boy is a story that is the perfect afternoon read, we have a relationship that develops at a great pace, we have caring and compassionate characters, we have wonderful friends helping where needed, we have a touch of drama and angst and we have the harridan of a mother trying to interfere. And we mustn’t forget how hot Liam and Mitchell are together either.

I say if you love hot men finding love, some angst and drama with problem parents, great friends (who are all hot) and a great new relationship, then you have to read this story.

Review: I think this is one of the best Christmas stories I’ve read. Everything about this book screams PERFECT and it really made my day even if the start of the story was horribly sad.

R.J. Scott introduces us with a unique way to Zach, a 17-year-old boy who is found sleeping and nearly frozen to death by Ben on a bench on Christmas Eve. Zach’s story is gruesome. He has lived a nightmare of a life at the hands of an abusive, homophobic father and a weak, fading to the background with no voice at all mother. Zach’s entire life has been planned by his father, an ex-special forces sergeant, whose idea of raising a child was beating his wants and beliefs into his son. This went worse when he found out that Zach was gay, taking him out from school and literally forcing him to home imprisonment. However, two-week short of being 18 years old Zach stands up to his father and declares that he is not only not going to enlist in the army, but that he wishes to live his life the way he wants to. That earns him a sound beating (again) and thrown out of the house in the middle of the winter with nothing more than the clothes he has on.

I must admit this whole story broke my heart because, even if this one is fiction. there are children out there being thrown out of their family for being who they are. It’s sad, it’s horrible and it’s a fact. I loved the way the author addresses this issue. I loved the way she writes about it without shying away and facing it as it is. I loved the way the characters reacted; she clearly has done her research on behavior patterns and psychological damage. It was all written with perfect clarity and elegance at the same time.

And while all Zach’s life is the horrible part of the story, this being the Christmas book that it is it would be naïve of us not to expect a miracle. How lovely that the miracle came in the form of Ben, the cop that finds Zach nearly frozen and on an impulse takes him home with him, offering him a meal and a bed for Christmas. And while Ben is feeling very good about his deed, thinking that’s why he became a cop for, he, his mother and his entire family fall for the innocent, obviously abused child and try their utmost to help him.

And again, while usually this kind of intervention is written somehow cheesy and sappy, I did not find any such treats here. It was excellent; I loved how it all played. I loved all the characters involved, and most of all I loved the Zach’s and Ben’s chemistry from the beginning till the end. They were brilliant and the time frame put for their “getting to know each other” was the best touch.

I must say that for me this book had it all a meaning, a purpose, awesome plot, fantastic characters, gripping even and all down to earth lovemaking, a fact that made it even hotter. For me this is a must read book and I’m definitely going to re-read it next Christmas and the next and the next and…. Yeah! Totally worth it.

Review: Dale has the task of seeing Emily Bullen to Albany safely after she turned state’s evidence against her husband. It is supposed to be an easy run, but no one took into account Griffin Ryland’s plan to keep his secrets hidden. Joseph is attending his best friend’s wedding in Albany, looking forward to the following weeks, when he will be spending time with his lover Dale. But, a frantic call in the middle of the night has him jumping to action with his Seal teammates. Neither men has really bared their hearts, and if they get out of the airport alive they will have two weeks of uninterrupted bliss to decide if they have a possibility at forever.

Oh. My. God. Whoop! we see Dale and Joseph again as they reassess their long distance relationship and get a grip on the loose ends of the Bullen’s case. We saw Dale and Joseph meet and begin to fall in love during The Only Easy Day and now we revisit them as they plan to meet up for two weeks of uninterrupted them time. To add excitement we connect with them just days before when Dale is escorting Emily to a safe house and Joseph is attending a teammate’s wedding. Both their worlds collide when Sanctuary needs the SEAL’s back up when a rogue FBI agent decides to silence Emily Bullen permanently and Sanctuary agents are all snowed in.

I loved this story because not only do we have the excitement of thwarting Griffin in his desperate attempts, but we also have Dale and Joseph coming to terms with their relationship; how they feel for each other and what they should do in the future. Dale and Joseph’s long distance romance hasn’t been easy for either of them. Their schedules clash a lot and plans made were broken. so they have only seen each other briefly since they first got together. They both know what they feel for the other and when they meet for their two-week vacation they both plan on telling the other exactly what they feel.

Ahhhh. These people are so romantic in their own macho way and they are surprising sweet together. Joseph has a lot of thinking to do about his future. Not just about his relationship, but also what he wants to do in his work life. Dale is just happy to have whatever time he can have with his sexy SEAL, especially if it involves him naked. These guys still have that explosive spark and they are still macho men. what they feel for each other is clear to see in their actions and thoughts and I can finally sigh in relief as they get their happy ever after.

I have to recommend this to those who love alpha men, facing the future, accepting and receiving deep love, bombs, hostage situations, getting the bad guy and a very satisfying happy ending.  slidesanctuarynew

Blurb: In a world where magic is rare, Joseph Jamieson is one of the most powerful holders of power. Orophin Tiwele, or Phin to his friends, is the son of the Elf King and has magic of his own. The rules say two supernatural beings with magic cannot be together and Joseph and Phin have lived by that rule despite their attraction to each other.

The resistance is growing larger each day, but traitors threaten everything Joseph has built. He wants peace, but soon comes to realize the way to peace, is through war.

When the only thing that will save lives is Joseph and Phin working together, it becomes impossible to see where magic and passion end and where love could begin.

Review: This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Joseph is a rare magic user who is the leader of the resistance. When he and his brother, Micah try to get proof against Glitnir it goes wrong and Joseph is captured. Phin is the son of the Elf King and has strong magic of his own. Discovering Joseph has been captured, he goes into Glitnir to rescue him and to help Joseph recover from the horrific torture he suffers. Joseph and Phin have to put the past behind them if they have a hope of winning against Glitnir. Phin has to come clean about Asher and they both have to admit their love. But, how can they ever be together when two magic users being intimate is strictly warned against?

Although this story has the explosive reuniting of two magic users, it also brings forward the rapid movement of the resistance and some of the secrets that Glitnir hides. Joseph and Phin have a history, but because of dire warnings about magic they can never be together. When Joseph chose Ethan it hurt Phin deeply and he lashed out in the only way he knew… by declaring his love for a blood demon, but now is the time for Phin to come clean and for both of them to lay the past to rest. Discovering the secrets of Councillor Ludvik, of the Fae Alliance, they know they have to act fast. But, first the journal needs to be opened and plans need to be made.

This is a great story that gives us a wealth of details and some surprises. We discover the real story behind Joseph’s and Phin’s animosity and we get a passionate explosive coming together from them. You can’t help but feel sorry for the pair of them when secrets and rules kept them apart and they had to go against what they really wanted. The main storyline that threads through the whole series is beginning to heat up as the journal is opened and a surprising twist is revealed. They discover part of the rot in Giltnir and it is discovered to go far deeper than they thought.

The relationship between Joseph and Phin is threaded throughout this book, as they try to work through everything. But, at times it is in the background as the resistance is being put together. I liked how the story was set out with equal attention being given to both the relationship of the two MC’s and the main series storyline. I also liked the variety of characters this book has, introducing new characters while keeping the old ones from previous books in play. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to see what else R.J. Scott has in store for us. Because in this book she has added a new depth to the characters by the trials they go through.

I recommend this to those who love fantasy, Elves, Vampires, magic, danger and twists, trying to do the right thing, accepting love and a happy ending for Phin and Joseph but with a storyline that is just heating up.

Blurb: Jason is hiding and it is only when he meets Kieran that he finds home.

Jason McInnery, hounded by the paparazzi after his brother’s death, runs to the one place where he hopes people will not sell him out. The place where he was born.

Hiding in the tourist cabins at Ellery Mountain Resort out of season he thinks he finally has room to breathe.

If only Kieran Dexter, a man ten years his junior, would stop fixing stuff and generally causing ripples in Jason’s calm space.

Review: Jason is a popular actor who suffered the loss of his younger brother. Nearing the anniversary, he flees to Ellery Mountain for the anonymity and peace he hopes to find. Hiding out in the cabins, he comes across sexy handyman Kieran, who disturbs him more than he should. taking a chance he acts on his attraction. But, he’s an actor from LA while Kieran is a carpenter from Ellery. Can he really hope for more than a fling? Kieran wants more than just a fling, but will take what he can get. Helping Jason deal with his past shows him Jason is more than just an actor, but can long distance work?

This third installment to Ellery Mountain is cute Kieran’s story, and what a little spitfire he is. Jason is an actor who lost his brother to a car crash. He feels guilty and blames himself, Jason is hounded by the press as secrets about his brother come out and now with the anniversary of his death looming, Jason flees to the one place where the press will never look, Ellery. Kieran is surprised to discover a guest in one of the cabins, but it isn’t long before he hits it off with Jason.

Kieran and Jason are a fantastic couple, even with them both knowing that Jason is only around for a short time. They embrace what they can in the short time they have together. Kieran has a slight complex. He’s short blond and his mouth runs away with itself. Jason is perfect for Kieran, although he makes a couple of mistakes. Kieran helps Jason through a hard time and they have to admit what they really want before they both make a mistake. The sex between them is really hot and Kieran really shows us his true self in those moments. Both men are incredible together. The storyline moves swiftly and smoothly, there’s no real angst except two men refusing to acknowledge what they want from each other and I thought it was really well written. I liked how they resolved their relationship and that they gave it a go even though they are both from different worlds.

I will recommend this to those who love stories of finding love in unexpected places, different worlds coming together, hot men having hot sex and a very happily ever after.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Declan is a werewolf, a Retriever for Glitnir, and he is sent to hunt his friend, Connor, when Connor fails to return from his own hunt of a vampire. Levi is an incubus and Assassin for the Fae Alliance and is sent along to make sure the job gets done. Levi has his own reasons for going though. Reasons that he once confessed to Declan, before Declan turned his back on him. Declan resents being sent with an incubus that he thinks is a traitor. But, when confronting Connor and then Levi’s own actions has Declan questioning his own belief, Declan lets love into his heart. But will it be enough for him to turn his back on all that he believes?

Oh, I love the way this series is going. We are beginning to see that the rot goes farther than just the vampires, and that Glitnir and the Fae Alliance might be much dirtier. Declan wants nothing more than to get his friend back and to put the vampire who must be holding him prisoner to death.  But, he is stuck with Levi during the hunt and he knows he has to convince Connor to return with him or Levi will kill him. Levi is desperate to get to the truth of what happened to his parents and the only way he will get the answers is to get Declan to accept that not everything about Giltnir is right. Convincing Declan that he isn’t a traitor and that he does love him is much harder than he hoped.

This is really good. I loved how Declan was so confused and didn’t automatically give up everything he believed in. I liked that Levi had tried in the past to open up to Declan and didn’t give up even though Declan thought he was a traitor. I really liked that they listened to Connor and Micah without too much conflict, but it was wonderful to see the conflicting personalities clash and the warring of beliefs. Declan and Levi’s relationship isn’t easy and that is because of how they both see Giltnir. Levi has been told disturbing news which has him looking for answers, but also doubting Giltner and the Alliances. While Declan has a firm belief that Giltnir can do no wrong. it drove them apart when they first got together, but now they have an opportunity to try again, if Declan can open his mind to possible doubts about Giltnir.

I have to recommend this story to those that love paranormal political conflicts, strong-willed characters, a great storyline and a happy for now ending.

Blurb: Dominic Novak left more than a legacy for conservation and an instinctive love for animals behind when he died.

He left a son, Aiden, who craved the instinct for animals that his father had… and a pupil, Mitchell, whose life changed after hearing Dominic Novak speak in a lecture.

Aiden is hiding, scared of people finding the real him, hiding his identity from the world.

Could working together at a placement in Khutzeymateen, a grizzly bear sanctuary in British Columbia be the making of them, or will it end up destroying Aiden?

Review: Aiden has spent most of his life in the public eye, but after the tragic death of his father he has become a mass of insecurities.  Now, about to step into his father’s shoes, he wants a couple of weeks in anonymity at a bear sanctuary to have a hands on experience. Mitchell was inspired by Dominic Novak to work in the field of animal conservation, he usually teaches, but a last-minute spot has opened up at Khutzeymateen, and it is an opportunity that just might bring him love.

R.J. Scott has written a wonderful story that draws you into the world of an insecure young man, who feels like he is living in the shadow of a great man, who was also his father. Aiden had an incredible emotional trauma when he was younger; it still lingers and was then compounded by a further emotional betrayal when he was nineteen. It has left him with extreme self-esteem issues and had him building an invisible shield around himself, and isolating him from real contact. Going on the bear census is a way for him to find the man he wants to be. Mitchell loves conservation and teaching, meeting Aiden is a nice surprise.  Getting to know the young man is an experience and beginning a relationship with him could be the best thing that ever happened.

The characters in this story are incredibly written.  Both Aiden and Mitchell are well-developed, bringing this story to life. We join them on a journey that takes us into the heart of a bear sanctuary with beautiful details and a burgeoning love. There is much to say about this story, but no way to really explain the incredible relationship that evolves between Mitchell and Aiden, or the emotional pressure that still plagues Aiden, or the ghosts that haunt him.  It’s a story that you have to read for yourself.

I recommend that everyone who loves a great story, brilliant characters, emotional pressure, low self-esteem, finding the man who can bring out the best in you and an ending that makes you smile, read this story and enjoy.

Review: Riley and Jack have a great life. Jack is going into horse training, Riley’s business, CH, is getting off the ground and everything is going great in their relationship. Robbie comes to work for Jack and Eli convinces Jack to let him use the Double D for a photo shoot and becomes smitten with Robbie. Can Eli convince Robbie that they can have something special? And how do Riley and Jack handle the problems thrown at them?

This is a wonderful story, where we can see the continuation of Jack and Riley’s relationship and see a new one developing on the Double D Ranch. Riley and Jack have their own individual worries in this book, with Riley having to deal with an underhanded investor, and Jack worries about the horse training expansion. We see them both leaning on each other and being there for each other, as well as dealing with ghosts from the past, but above all else we see their abiding love for each other.

The addition of Eli and Robbie is brilliant. The development of their relationship is awkward, but Eli refuses to give up over his mistake. Both Eli and Robbie have had tragedies in the past and while Eli embraces life and welcomes love, Robbie is more gun-shy over loving again. Both these characters fit in seamlessly with Riley and Jack, complementing the other couple while being an individual couple in their own right. don’t make the mistake of thinking they are just background filler because they aren’t, they are a couple with their own story that gets told.

The writing is smooth and so is the storyline, it does jump forward in time by a few months, but it is smoothly done so it doesn’t throw you. Riley and Jack are still as passionate about each other as ever, and Eli and Robbie scorch the pages as well.

I will recommend this to those who love sexy cowboys, hunky businessmen, horny photographers, cute kids, supportive family and a happy ending.

Review:  High School can be one of the toughest times in teen’s life. It’s during this time that they become the person that they will be for the rest of their lives. Meet Luke Holston, the nerdy guy from Math class. Every Friday night, he requests songs for Cameron Anders, the star quarterback and captain of his high school’s team. Luke has always watched his secret crush from far and only communicated with him through the poetic art of music.

Yes, it is a simple and short love story, but unbelievably sweet and lovely at the same time. Every page is page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more. Love Is in the Title is the first novel that RJ Scott wrote for the world of Young Adult and clearly not her last since there are two more books that make up this series.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves jock/nerd love stories or just want to read a happy-go-lucky work of art. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Review: Whoo hoo. Its Manny’s book. the one that I have been waiting ages for. Josh needs to know the truth so he leaves Sanctuary to hunt for answers. But, he didn’t count on Manny’s sharp eyes. Manny races to the rescue, before Josh is caught where he shouldn’t be. Manny has a bit of a mysterious past and he has put it far behind him. But, now for his Sanctuary family, he digs it up and revisits the past to try to bring the Bullens down.

Ohhh Manny, what secrets have you been hiding? Josh needs to know the truth. Was his boyfriend just using him? When Manny discovers Josh where he shouldn’t be, he is the closest person to get Josh out before it goes wrong. Manny insists on Josh’s assistance when he discovers the extent of the other man’s computer skills, so when Manny goes in as bait, Josh is his handler. But Josh and Manny have started to become close and Josh is terrified something will go wrong.

I really enjoyed this Sanctuary story, as we really get to know Manny. Finally, after seeing him in so many of the other stories. His interaction with Josh is really good. Although, they do get physical Manny realizes that as the Bullen case heats up he has to put off his wants until a later date. Josh doesn’t really know what to expect, as he is in witness protection and he doesn’t see it ending anytime soon. So, getting involved with Manny will have to be temporary… although, he longs for more. Manny and Josh are really hot together and you can feel for both of them as they struggle to find a way to make it work in the longer term.

The storyline for this was a bit tenser, as everyone is digging as deep as they can to get concrete evidence on the Bullens. Beautifully done, such a twist right at the end, and the Bullen brothers no longer have financial backing. Ha. serves them right. We also get a brief glimpse of Sean (FBI mole) and that leaves us with something to chew on for the future.

So I highly recommend this if you like intrigue, a touch of action, adrenalin rushes, some really hot sex, guns, computers and a happy ending. (Make sure you keep an eye out for Jake’s and Sean’s story around November time.)

Review: Beckett is in grave danger, after finding out that he was adopted and that his own mother died he goes to his biological father to carry out the instructions in the letter left to him by his mother but now he is beaten, temporarily blinded and stuck in a safe house with a man he doesn’t even know. Kayden is frustrated to be stuck in the middle of nowhere when he could be out on assignment doing something, but then Beckett wakes up and things just might get interesting.

A great continuation of the Sanctuary series.  This book starting where the last book finished so I have to advise that you read the series in order. Beckett is searching for something that his mother left behind in her favorite room in the Bullen household when he is caught by his uncle.  He gets rescued by Sanctuary, but his recovery is not easy. Kayden is a slight enigma, because even though we find out a lot about his background and his skills I still felt like there was more to discover about him. Beckett is quite straight forward, as all he wants is to find what his mother had hidden and get the truth over his friend’s death, get justice and then get as far away from his father and uncles as possible.

So the story is well written, the emotions that they all go through are well portrayed and the relationship is off to a good beginning, so thumbs up R.J. We have a good feel for the mystery, suspense and the twist and we get to enjoy a bit of angst from Beckett until Kayden shares his past with him. I can understand Beckett’s frustration over not being able to do what he wanted when he wanted and Kayden’s slight humor at thwarting him. The two men do have an attraction to each other and a budding relationship is in the works, the sex is extremely low-key there’s some kissing and right at the end we get the very beginning of some foreplay… so I warn you now you might wish violence on the author for her abrupt ending. *Grrr*

I liked all the secondary characters (except the Bullens) even the FBI guy (although I felt perverse pleasure at his frustration) and I felt so sorry for poor Austin (the family lawyer), we get to see Manny again and we meet Adam who is also with Sanctuary. So how many more stories can we look forward to? *Squee*

A great addition to the Sanctuary series so I recommend this to those who love mystery, suspense, a bit of action, some danger, a budding attraction/relationship and two stubborn men who strike sparks off each other.

Review:  Daniel came to live with the Walker family after his mother’s suicide.  The quiet, shy musical prodigy is immediately taken under the wing of the family’s middle child, Jamie.  From the moment they meet, their bond is strong and unbreakable.  But, as the boys approach their high school graduation and Daniel comes out to the family, everything is about to change.

Not every adult fiction writer can transition well into the world of young adult romance.    RJ Scott is one that can.  Decisions We Make is a really well-written story.  Most of it is from Daniel’s POV.  It is heartbreaking to see how the decisions that he makes are painted with a brush dipped in the pain of loss and insecurity. *Note:  That was a really cool sentence, huh?* Jamie is his perfect compliment.  There are lots of flashbacks into the boys growing up years, but these are well-crafted and not at all distracting.

The Walkers are a tight-knit family that I wished every LGBT kid could have grown up in.  The parents are very upfront with both their concerns and their support.  Mark is the perfect big brother, ready to fight if anyone hassles the boys about their “new” relationship.  And their little sister never failed to make me smile with the stuff that came out of her mouth.

This book is not all flowers and kisses.  Some really bad things happen that bears evidence to the fact that some folks are filled with bigotry and hate; folks who become the victims of a scorned young woman, bent on revenge.  But, the “incident” did cause the boys secret out into the open.  I really felt for Daniel.  He would love to just love Jamie, but, he also worries that loving Jamie may bring rejection from the rest of the family.

The ending is great and I hope we get to see Jamie and Daniel as they head off to UCLA.  As a mom, I closed this book knowing most teenage romances don’t last, but hoping that this one does.  Highly recommend.
