Review: This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Jonathon is just trying to get to the office when he rescues Kai from a ‘hit and run’. The man is hot and Jonathan wants to get to know him better. When more attempts on Kai’s life happen, Jonathan decides that there is only one person who can protect him and that’s himself. Kai is instantly attracted to the man who saved him from a car and has plans to get to know him better. But, someone is out to kill him and he has no idea who, having Jonathan guard his body is a major perk. But, discovering who wants him dead is harder than they thought.

This is a great addition to the Mercenary Lovers series. Jonathan finds a man to love and the mystery of who the would-be killer is was great. Jonathon is feeling lonely, spending time with his bosses and their partners has him feeling jealous and he wants to find a man to love. But, Jonathon feels like he has baggage. He still has nightmares of when he was in the military, but when he meets Kai he has hopes that he might have found the man for him. Kai has concentrated on building up his company and hasn’t had much time to build a relationship; he is blown away when he meets Jonathon and hopes to get to know him better. When there is a blatant attempt on Kai’s life he is left completely confused as to who wants him dead and Jonathon jumps to protect him. Together they find love and are both shocked and surprised by the would-be killer.

So another mercenary bites the love bug and does it in spectacular fashion. Jonathon is a great character and even now still feels a little guilt over how he first treated Callum (Tempting Sin), Jonathon is still struggling with life out of the military and I think Amber Kell put it across well. and I loved that there was that slight heart to heart between Jonathon and Sin. Kai is a businessman and really does seem the perfect match for Jonathon. Even with all his money, he is down to earth, although he does try to impress Jonathon at first. The mystery of who wants Kai dead is intriguing because everything points to Kai’s sister but it just doesn’t feel right, and when we do discover who it is, holy moly, we are smacked with a twist.

I recommend this to those who love private security bodyguards, hot-shot businessmen, steamy sex, a mysterious killer, a great twist and a very happy loving ending.

Review: This story is part of a series and must be read in order. When Sam and Bob go to the aid of Trawl, the troll, they discover that it isn’t only Shelby (Hart’s daughter) that has been taken.  they discover that many other paranormal children have been taken. Hart is desperate and turns to the demon, Dan, for help. It isn’t easy getting the demon on side though, because Hart broke his heart. But, the children have to come first, before Hart can make thinks right with his demon.

Whoop.  Well, I am just loving this series from Amber Kell and R.J. Scott. A human (?) PI getting dragged further into the paranormal world, no matter what he really wants and falling in love with a vampire named Bob.  I just love it! In this new addition to the series, we have not only Bob and Sam and their new shenanigans, but we also get more of Hart and we are introduced to his love interest, Danjal.  We also find out more about the missing paranormal child case and find out the truth about her disappearance.

Sam and Bob’s relationship seems to be moving forwards in leaps and bounds.  Even if Sam still does find Bob annoying.  Sam discovers he has more new powers, even if he tries to deny them and Sam also seems to have made a scary enemy. Hart gave up his love to do his duty by his pack.  But, now he turns to Dan in his hour of need.  Dan was hurt by Hart’s actions and words, but sets it aside to find Hart’s daughter.  They discover the backstabbing of some in the wolf pack and Hart has to face down an Alpha challenge.

This story is really well written and switches between the couples as they hunt for the children.  There’s danger, excitement, some great characters and just a touch of hot loving.  There’s betrayal and there’s forgiveness and then there is the mystery that is Sam. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.  Could there be a love interest for Mikhail?  Ohhh. Maybe for Teddy the ghost??!! I also hope we get to see Trawl again, because he seems like a lovable big lug.

I will recommend this to those who love paranormal PIs, vampires, hot demons and wolves, betrayal, danger and a great storyline with a happily ever after for a wolf and his mate.

Review: Whoa! Damn, what a fascinating book, what an idea and an incredible world has Ms. Kell created here. I abso-freaking-lutely loved this book.

Kreslan is a low ranking soldier who is having quite some difficulties in his current task as the spoiled, brat son of an Admiral keeps pushing his limits and abusing him every chance he got. It is like that Kreslan finds himself in another difficult position, when said brat along with two other friends of his tries to beat Kreslan to pulp, and all that would have happened but for a strange creature called a Thresl.

Thresls are cat-like creatures.  They bond with humans of their choice and when that happens they change form forever assimilating a more human-friendly one, creating a pair to be truly feared. Due to the rarity of their bonds they are highly wanted and at a great price, mostly for very rich people/politicians. When one of these creatures saves Kreslan from certain death, it quickly becomes obvious that his troubles have just begun. His military career is now over and Kreslan has to wrap his mind over the fact that he’ll never become a captain in a ship and have a normal life, a husband and well, whatever he has ever dreamed before is now over. He is now the mate of a Thresl who appears to be bigger and stronger than the others of his kind.

What Kreslan never imagined though is that the Thresl he is now bonded with is the very King of the all Thresls and he therefore he is the King-Mate. A very powerful position to be and an even more dangerous one, as many are willing not only to capture the King for their own agendas, but many want his death so they can take his place.

I can’t say how much in love I am with this book. I loved the Thresls as a species and more so Vohne, their king and Kreslan’s mate. The idea behind was that the species are in animalistic form until they bond with a human and shift to a human-like one, gain speech and can from there on evolve. The Thresl half not only shifts to his human’s needs but he also enhances and strengthens him. So we literally witness in this book how Vohne changes from a feral creature to a man who slowly loses that extreme violence and Kreslan on the other hand becomes stronger, more possessive and a bit more violent. The gradual transformation is perfectly balanced to the needs of the plot as things go more and more dangerous for this epic couple.

The background story is also very intriguing. The incarnations both Kreslan and Vohne have suffered over the millennia and the conspiracy behind the last hundred years that the King couldn’t reincarnate and claim his throne was fantastic. Personally I would’ve liked a bit more length in this book if only to allow some emotions to flow through. As it was, the entire story pace was bit too fast, too furious and left questions unanswered. It also left a serious hole in our pair’s relationship as they went from strangers to full-blown mates killing for each other in the blink of an eye, and I being I, wanted a bit more quality time for Vohne and Kreslan.

However Soldier Mine, being the first book in the series, was extremely hooking and the need to get all the rest of the books and inhale ‘em in one go is quite strong. So going on and recommending this book to you after all the above seem a bit unnecessary yet, if you love sci-fi and cat-like creatures, intelligent shifters and great action plot, there you go, this book has it all. Enjoy!

Blurb: The very thought of paranormals is enough to drive Private Investigator Sam Enderson mad, but add in his attraction to a vampire, and his world is turned upside down.

Sam Enderson is a human detective who finds himself working for paranormal creatures, despite his resolve to stick with humans only.

Bob is a vampire and turns up on Sam’s doorstep to rent a room. Sparks fly, and Sam is attracted to the vampire in spite of himself.

Soon after Sam is cursed by a witch, two cases land on his desk. Dealing with werewolves, annoying ghosts and a grumpy gargoyle is bad enough. But somehow, in amongst all of this chaos, he has to find a lost fae and a missing shifter child.

Review: Sam has just inherited a detective agency from his recently deceased uncle. Sam has a five-year plan all laid out and there is no room in that plan for supernaturals’. Until a witch walks through his doors and a vampire wants to rent a room, and a fae triad (minus one) needs their third finding and a little werewolf girl is lost. Tossed in over his head he accepts (begrudgingly) the help of Bob, the vampire, Teddy, the ghost and Mikhail, the vampire/siren.

Oh, this is a delightful paranormal story of an everyday human *snort* being tossed into the supernatural world with a bang. Sam inherits a building that housed his beloved uncles’ detective agency; he decides to follow in his uncles footsteps and becomes a private investigator. But, his first prospective client isn’t happy with his work ethic and he discovers that his uncle had dodgy dealings. When Bob walks through his door asking to rent a room it throws Sam in a tailspin as he fights his attraction to the supernatural. But, he has cases to work which drag him further into the supernatural world and his plan of only dealing with humans goes out the window.

I really enjoyed this first story in the End Street Detective Agency and I am looking forward to more. We are introduced to an interesting array of characters and some very interesting cases that we delve into.  We see as Sam struggles with his attraction to Bob and as they come together, with Sam still not really understanding the depth of Bob’s feelings. The storyline is cool, the cupid curse was very interestingly carried out and the various paranormal we come across are great.  Sirens, Vampires, Werewolves, Gargoyles, Ghosts, Fae, Witches and a cat familiar, they all add that little spark of magic that makes this a great story.

I highly recommend this story to those that love supernatural and paranormal stories, hot vampires, a confused human in denial, great characters, a great case solved; hot sex and an ending that is left wide open and has you biting your lip against the urge to scream in frustration.

Review: A Guitarist for the Fae Queen’s Court is the first book in Kell’s new series, Fae Intervention. This is a fairly typical Kell book, in that it is a relatively quick and easy read. Rain is somewhat hard to completely like, as he inadvertently set JB up for abduction to the Fae Court. Meanwhile, JB has no clue his lover is a Fae Prince, or that the Fae even exist. I think I would be a little more than mildly annoyed, but JB seems to brush this huge omission off pretty speedily. While part of me was impressed by his rapid forgiveness, a larger part assumed this flub was glossed over to get the book finished and published more quickly. Cynical? Perhaps. But serial romances sometimes seem rather hastily manufactured. In any case, there is an element of mystery to the story that adds a bit of depth, and while Rain and JB aren’t the most complete of characters, A Guitarist is a fun and easy first book in what is sure to be a popular series.

Review: Bart thinks he is seeing things when he thinks he is seeing his dead lover. He follows him to find out that his lover was never who (or shall I say what he thought he was.)

This is a very unique take on a vampire story. Lots of twists and turns. It is also a very good love story and the sex is hot. If you’re looking for a good short romantic vampire story give this a shot. My only complaint is that it was too short. I’d love more.  What would you go through to save your dead lover’s soul?

I recommend this to anyone that loves paranormal especially vampire stories. A soul-mate story, a good love story, trials and tribulations, and some hot man-sex.

Review:  Braxton and Payne have been lovers for three years.  They are still very much in love, but due to horrific childhood trauma, Payne suffers from some pretty major sexual dysfunction.  Rather than either man risking triggering Payne’s mental demons, when the mood strikes them, they invite a third into their bed.  Well, Payne’s bed, because Brax just watches; anything to keep Payne happy.  At least that was the pattern…until they meet Flame.

I really didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did.  I rarely see survivors of sexual trauma accurately depicted in a realistic manner.  Especially not the type of abuse that Payne endured.  And I speak from almost twenty years of dealing with victims professionally.  But, I think Amber Kell did a pretty good job with Payne.  I also really like that Brax and Payne were given a reasonable time to build their relationship, before adding a third. And even then, all three men are open with their attraction and their concerns.  Which made me believe their ménage could work outside the bedroom.  The characters are very well crafted. And, by that I mean, they complement one another.  Where Brax is straight alpha male, Flame is more nurturing.  Both men are obvious with their devotion to Payne, but we also see them begin to develop a relationship that is separate, if not quite equal.

A couple of things trigger Payne’s “switch”.  And, again I felt they were realistic events, not simply plot devices. I totally bought that he was emotionally ready to add a third to his existing relationship and expand his sexual role with both of his lovers.  If anything, I think Brax could have stood to open up a bit more…

Amber Kell never ceases to amaze me with her mastery of the novella.  For all its heavy subject matter, Switching Payne is not maudlin.  Neither is it sappy sweet.  It’s just a really nice romance between three wounded men, who somehow make it work for them.  Highly recommend.

Review:  Orion knew the moment he laid eyes on Aaron that they were supposed to be together.  Aaron isn’t into vampires, as a rule, but he’s willing to make an exception for the sexy vamp.

Kissing Orion is classic Amber Kell with a twist.  Originally published in 2009, it is being reissued by Silver Publishing.  As with many Kell tales, there is a nice suspense thread.  In this case, drugs are being dealt out of Orion’s night club and Aaron is the lead detective on the case.  Orion is a very typical alpha man; possessive, arrogant, etc.  But, the twist is he’s so sweet.  There is nothing he won’t do to make Aaron happy.  Their relationship is very much a pairing of equals.  The big strong vamp with the weak little human gets old.  This was a refreshing deviation from the usual vamp/human duo.

Anyway back to the story.  I was just about to be unhappy with the nice neat ending when Kell threw a major twist in the mix.  Not quite a cliffhanger, but damn close. Secrets are revealed and Orion again shows himself to be the perfect partner for Aaron.  Loved it. There sure had better be a book two or Amber Kell is going to have a very irritated reviewer on her hands.  Highly recommend from the beautiful cover art, straight through until the happy-ever-after.

Blurb: Orlin didn’t know when he put himself up for sale that he would be responsible for changing a kingdom.

Broke and homeless, Orlin puts himself up for sale as a pet. Approached by his new Master, Orlin decides maybe being owned by a gorgeous king wouldn’t be fate worse than death. He doesn’t expect to become the one person who changes the views of an entire kingdom…or to be more than a lover for the man who buys him.

At first sight of the sexy oiled sub, Aester Fall knows he’s not leaving until Orlin belongs to him. He might be hanging on to his kingdom by his fingernails but he knows some things are worth the fight. When he returns home with Orlin, he learns his new pet might not be as pet-like as he first appeared.

Neither man expects to change the fate of a world…much less two of them.

Purchase Link: http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=&P_ID=1576

Review: Orlin sells himself at auction as a pet after his parents die and he is left with nothing.  Orlin hopes that life, as a pet, won’t be too bad and after his term of service, he will have the money he needs to start a new life. But, he never expected to be sold to his mate. Aester follows the advice of the seer and goes to the auction where Orlin is on the auction block. The first look he gets of Orlin and he knows he is the one, now he just has to keep him safe.

A cute little novella that provides great entertainment. Orlin has had a lot to cope with, his parents died and left behind huge debts, his extended royal family won’t help him out so he does the only thing that he can think of… he becomes a pet, a nice name for a submission love slave. Orlin isn’t really suited to be a pet, because although he is slightly submissive he has his own way of doing things.  That and the whole “fifth in line for the throne” thing, that has given him royal training since birth.  Aester is new to his throne and set on doing everything the law says, but his pet is disrupting everything by how he acts; insisting on *gasp* walking and translating with cat people.  Before long, it brings Orlin to the attention of Aester’s uncle.

This is an enjoyable light read that is well written. I liked the way that Orlin got into trouble without even trying and that it brought to light to Aester the problems in his Kingdom that he never suspected.  And also unearths some unsavory people, who would do him harm. I would have liked to know more about Orlin’s powers as they developed, but it was only a novella ;-). Aester is a strong character, but he wanted an equal that he could spoil and while Orlin is a submissive he can hold his own and be a strong support to the right man.

You know, I love this series because we have strong characters that are either dominate or submissive but each will have a strong core and they need a partner who is their equal, but also the perfect match to their own personality. I also like the way Amber Kell has written this in the way that although they are Doms and subs, it isn’t in the way that BDSM is usually portrayed.   It is more like, their natural personalities have one partner who is slightly more Dominate than the other.

So, if you enjoy science fiction, hot sex, magic and slight danger, hot men, slight D/s relationships and a happy ever after then I have to recommend this to you.

Blurb: In order to stop his magic from eating him alive, Chalice seeks out a man strong enough to dominate and control him.

Chalice might be a prince on his planet but his submissive tendencies prevent him from dealing with the incredible energy coursing through his body. Magic users need a second to balance them out, but there has never been a case where the one with the power didn’t hold the dominant position. Chalice’s ability as a rare four elemental magic wielder already marks him as different, though. And with the king in denial of his son’s needs, he has no choice but to look off—planet to find a powerful partner.

He runs into a diplomat on a mission who leads Chalice to agree to be the pet of an emperor—one whose reputation for tossing aside subs is only balanced out by the fact that Chalice thinks he’s the sexiest creature he’s ever seen. Chalice takes the plunge, hoping the biggest gamble of his life won’t prove to be his biggest mistake.

Purchase Link: http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?P_ID=1512

Review: Chalice needs a strong Dominant male to help balance out his magic.  Without a grounding force, he can only control his magic for minutes at a time, before he loses control. Chalice leaves his planet and takes a chance and hopes everything will work out. Terrin is an emperor, who has discarded many pets, but Chalice has caught his eye and Chalice’s demeanor intrigues him and he suspects he won’t get bored with him so easily.

Okay, I was really looking forward to this book, as I had been teased by Ms. Kell releasing little snippets on her blog for seems like forever.   The earliest post being way back when in 2010 (I have a long memory).   And I did enjoy the story…kinda. Chalice is looking for a Master to ground him and help him balance his magic.  He has come to terms with his needs, despite his family insisting that he should be the master and not the mastered, due to the level of his magic. Meanwhile, Terrin wants a pet/sub who can keep his attention. When these two meet it seems like a connection made in heaven, but Chalice has to tell Terrin his secrets and hope he reacts well.

This has a good story-line and plot, the characters are portrayed really well, the sex was hot and the story was humorous in places… but it wasn’t as well-developed as Ms Kell’s previous work; (which is really strange as she doesn’t usually miss a beat).  Because although we are told that Chalice is a four elemental magic wielder and that he needs a Master to balance it out the details were not there, you know… how does it balance it out? How does it work? Who was behind the attack? So Ms Kell has a slightly lower rating this time.

So my recommendation… although not up to the authors usually par this is still an enjoyable, cute novella.  There is definitely room for a series.  There is one traveler, in particular, who would make a great main character in a sequel.  *hint, hint* It has hot sex, great characters, a bit of danger, a bit of angst and a HEA so I’d say get the book, grab a cup of tea and enjoy.

Blurb: Sometimes people aren’t quite what they seem.

James Everett moved to a shifter town to escape his shifter-hating father. Little did he expect to catch the eye of the town’s sheriff. Louis Arktos can’t resist the new human.

Something about the other man calls to his bear shifter nature and makes him want to protect the human from all the dangers in the world. When James’ life is turned inside out, Lou rushes to save him from unexpected dangers and most of all from himself.

Reader Advisory: This book is best read in sequence as part of a series

Review: James moved to get away from his father.  Unfortunately, he still needs the drugs that his father has developed for what his father has said is his rheumatoid arthritis.   In his new town he is attracted to the sheriff but his constant pain prevents him from doing anything about it. Lou has watched James ever since he moved to town.  He has now worked up the courage to ask James out on a date.   Before they meet for their date though James ends up in hospital and Lou makes a surprising discovery.

This is another touching and heart-warming novella by Amber Kell. I can’t go into too much detail as it would give away too much of the plot but I will do my best. In this story, we find out more about the organization that is kidnapping shifters.  We see James and Lou come together and Lou, bless his soul, willing to do whatever it takes to be with James. There is one point that you really feel for Lou as he has to face the possibility that he might lose James forever, and you can understand James’s fear of returning because of the pain he has suffered (see I didn’t give anything away, very artfully written). J

There are surprises.  There is danger and kidnapping.  There is some pretty hot and heavy sex and a well-written plot and storyline. This book give us some answers to our questions but leaves some others unanswered and gives us even more to ask as well.   It’s great when you know there’s another story coming.

I will recommend this to those who love shifters, surprises, danger, love, hot sex and a happy ever after.

Bill Timmons had watched Francis for months waiting for the perfect time to insert himself into the other man’s life. Review:  In my humble opinion, Amber Kell is the Queen of the Novella.  She manages to churn out sweet romances with just enough heat to keep me coming back for more.  Protecting Francis is the second in the Yearning Love series.  I liked it better than Taking Care of Charlie.  In that book, Charlie had issues and Marcus was his knight in shining armor.  In Protecting Francis, Francis is so not in need of protecting.  On one hand he is very limp-wrist cliché, on the other he has a mean left hook and is not afraid to use it.

I wish the other MC, Bill could have been developed more.  But, it was really sweet to watch him try to get close to Francis without scaring him off.  God bless him, I just wanted to hug him and tell him “it would be all right.” (Because, I know Amber Kell ALWAYS finds a way to bring a happily ever after.)

If you are into sweet romance, sweet loving and a bit of suspense…this is a must read.

Blurb: Intergalactically renowned dancer, Raven knew something was lacking in his life but it wasn’t until he rescued a little girl did he learn it was a dragon shifter prince.

Heading to a bar after a dance performance, intergalactically famous dancer, Raven, ran into a little girl beside the dead body of her grandmother. His one good deed in helping out the little girl would lead him into the arms of a dragon prince. Raven soon learns that once a dragon spots its mate it will keep him closer than gold.

Review: Okay, I know what some of you will say, it’s a re-issue what a rip off.   But I’d have to say you’d be wrong. I have read both versions of this book (well all three if you include the blog story before it was first published (God I’m really sad, I need my own padded room!!)) and I have to say Amber Kell’s writing improves each time around.

Raven is THE dance star of the known Galaxies, but at the moment he’s feeling like his spark has faded and he really needs a holiday. Crown Prince Kaemon has just discovered he has a daughter but when she arrives he finds it difficult to pull his attention away from the sexy man who found her.

As this relationship progresses we learn that Kaemon is a bit sneaky. Raven isn’t sure if he is ready to settle down. And Trisha (Kaemon’s daughter) takes after her father a lot and the nanny is a stark raving lunatic. I am sure some people will feel that Kaemon has little interest in his daughter but as I said he’s sneaky, the more Raven loves Trisha the less likely he is to leave.

This is a nice light sexy read with a sexy dragon shifter, a very bendy dancer, a cute princess and a slight bit of danger that will take you by surprise. So what are you waiting for, go help Ms Kell on her quest for World Domination and get this book.

Blurb:  Sometimes the perfect man is the one determined to give you away.  Tucker Right has loved Norman Wells since the first day they met, but the mercenary believes the beautiful scientist needs a gentler soul to care for him.

Determined to find his friend the perfect man, Tucker is astonished to learn Norm has no intention of being set up.

When the mob targets Norm for his scientific breakthroughs Tucker has to step up and claim the man who had every intention of Catching Mr. Right.

Review:  OK, so I have to admit to being a HUGE Amber Kell fan and yes I am one of the ones who follow her blog daily so I can read snippets of her future story’s and her blog story’s.  So, as a huge fan, can I be objective?? Well, lucky for me, I don’t have to find out, ‘cuz just like her other books this is a hit.

Norman Wells is a genius scientist who could rule the world if he were so inclined (lucky for us he is nice and not evil). Tucker Right owns his own security company and will do anything for Norm, even find him a man. Tucker loves Norm but believes he has too much blood on his hands for the sexy scientist, believing he needs someone who is gentle and nice. Norm wants Tucker but thinks that Tucker doesn’t want him.

When the mob target Norm and Tucker we find out which of them is scarier (hint it’s not Tucker). I truly found this chuckle worthy and loved the interaction between Norm and Tucker, and you can nearly here Tucker grinding his teeth when he hears how well the date he set up for Norm went.

This story is well written, all the characters fit well and the story line is very good. So if you want a story with a bit of sweet love, hot sex, a few chuckles and a happy ending then this is it.
