Review: Trevor had lost everything including his eyesight.  Most of it was because of his creepy ex but he lost his eyesight from a blood clot in his head.  He was a bitter man who had to take in a roommate just to afford a place to live. He had been at the peak of his acting career and was on the lines of depression and anger.  However Jack just might be the best roommate ever.

Jack is a manager and cashier who looks at life around him with a good sign.  He is falling for his roommate but he has to get thru his shell first.  So when he takes him to a local drag club well let’s say things might be looking up.

Most of this story was so bizarre and the words were confusing.  Whether it was the slang or what, it was just way too hard to get into.  My mind kept leaving the story which for me is not a good thing.  The way Jack spoke in this story made him come off as an idiot, even though you could tell he wasn’t one.  The story just came off dull and lifeless to me.  I hate to admit that I skimmed over most of the story just to get to the end.  There was nothing that grabbed my attention and kept it.

This story had potential but I am afraid that it failed for me.

The dark, alluring Peter, Lord Northrup, is Stephen’s every nighttime fantasy made flesh and he’s in Stephen’s bed, ready for passion. The two men, visitors at a country house, begin a delirious, passionate affair with Northrup as teacher and Stephen his eager student. Peter knows their liaison is about hot sessions of sexual exploration, not love–and backs away when he sees shy Stephen’s heart is involved. Passion and commitment can’t coexist for men like them.

Review: I thoroughly enjoy historicals. Especially set during the industrial revolution, because it is a time that changed the world and our entire society. The British aristocracy is falling and the middle class is rising, and that creates an interesting backdrop for our heroes.

Peter Lord Northrup is an established bachelor, used to stopping in at his friend’s kinky parties. He goes to his usual room to find a pleasant surprise waiting for him. They usually do provide a fun tryst for Stephen on weekends when parties are planned, only this is not that weekend, and the boy in his bed is not a gift of pleasure.

Lucky for Peter, the boy in his bed, Stephen, is curious and confused about his own sexuality, and happy to awaken to such a hot handsome dream.

Through a delicate cover of friends spending the weekend at a country estate, Peter and Stephen risk everything to explore many passionate encounters together. Their short time is hot and enlightening, and though Peter understands that they don’t stand a chance at love, Stephen’s heart is fully invested by the end of their encounters. Peter turns him away. Knowing the young man’s commitment to family, his education and his future stand in the way of any possible relationship, and Stephen’s heart becomes hardened, jaded as he leaves his love and lust behind.

Time provides more chance encounters, a couple engineered ones, and Lord Northrup can’t help but admit his heart was taken by the young passionate man he introduced to his secret world some time ago. Peter seeks out some acquaintances who have managed against odds to create a long-lasting, cohabiting, relationship as confirmed bachelors. Can the advice they give him work for Stephen and Peter, or will Stephen’s loyalty and commitment to his family business get in the way?

Plenty of melodrama and passion play out in this lovely novella. If you like historicals, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Seducing Stephen.

Blurb:   A lad from the streets meets a lord of the manor…

When Crimean war veteran Sir Alan Watleigh goes searching for sex, he never imagines the street rat he brings home for one last bit of pleasure in his darkest hour will be the man who hauls him back from the edge of the grave.

A night of meaningless sex turns into an offer of permanent employment. As Alan’s valet, Jem offers much more than polished boots and starched cravats. He makes Alan smile and warms his bed. Just as the men are adjusting to their new living arrangement, news about a former soldier under his command sends Sir Watleigh and Jem on the road to save a child in danger.

Review:  Alan Watleigh is a war veteran and a sodomite. He loathes himself for his secret attraction to men. He sets out to quench his thirst one last time before he ends his miserable existence. The last thing he expected to find in the dark gutters of the streets is the man that will breathe life back into his dying soul.

Jem is a homeless whore that sells himself for security and survival. As Alan, he has always known that his a

ttraction was held only by the same sex. But when his mother, a whore herself, learned of his persuasion she disowned him and threw him out. Jem has done what he had to do over the years to stay alive and has become a decent rogue thief. Will Alan be his next mark?

What these two find in each other is the strength to become the men they should be. Jem is young and vivacious. He can make Alan smile even in the darkest times. Alan was ready to end his life until he found Jem. But Jem woke something up inside Alan and he makes him feel more alive than he ever has. Now he’s torn between his growing feelings for the young cad, and his desperation to keep his sexuality a secret.

I loved the concept of this story. The homeless kid from the streets full of piss and vinegar meets Mr. Darcy in all his ruffles and refinery.

The narration left a lot to be desired though. It ruined part of the book for me. It was liken to listening to an instruction manual on assembling a desk! I would still recommend this BOOK for your viewing pleasure, but skip the audio as it will turn you off what otherwise is an excellent story of struggle and loss and then the joy of finding love in the last place you expected it.

Thankfully I have this book on my Kindle as well so I can go back and read it, once I wash the bitter taste of the narration out of my mouth. ** Note; my 3 star review is based in huge part on the narration **

Blurb: Confronting the darkness of his past, he finds the light of his future.

After years gadding about Europe, Everett Gerard can no longer avoid his responsibilities. Word has come that a child bearing the unmistakable Gerard stamp has shown up at the family estate—and he realizes it’s time to face his demons.

As his carriage nears the gates of home, he fights the urge to flee the memory of the horrible crime he witnessed as a child. Yet the Abbey delivers surprises and delights he never expected.

Miles Kenway was content with his quiet life as the Abbey’s bailiff, until the wild child, clearly a bastard son of some Gerard, upends his peace with constant pranks and mischief. And when the master of the house arrives, an unsettling attraction heats Miles’s blood.

As they clash over the fate of the ancestral land, they battle a powerful desire to grapple in ways that could disrupt the delicate balance between master and servant. But when the boy’s real sire appears, they must unite as only true fathers can to protect the boy whose mischievous charm has captured their hearts.

Review: Dee and Devon spin a magnetic tale of two very different men coming together under social and familial difficulties, finding love through a common goal. Namely, to raise and care for a wild, abandoned boy whose heart, not his parentage, matter. The obvious struggles of social class, master/servant, hiding their romantic nature, and raising a wounded, insecure child combine to create plenty of drama, heat, and suspense. I was ensnared by the characters so much I wanted more! I wanted to see this family blend, observe the sister’s reactions, see how they handled raising the boy as more years advanced. I do enjoy family drama and historical romance. and if you do too, I’d recommend this read!
