Blurb: Montag is a monster. He doesn’t know what sort of creature he would turn into if he ever let himself shift, but he knows it’s something predatory and lethal. He fights back the urge to shift every day of his life, and has never dared get close to anyone—not that they want him to. He can literally smell their fear.

Kevin’s not scared of monsters. He works for the SSU, the agency in charge of tracking shifters—particularly the dangerous ones. When he and his young niece are kidnapped by her scum-bucket dad, he’s grateful to be rescued by Montag, whose curmudgeonly defenses can’t hide the kind man beneath.

As they work together to protect Kevin’s niece, attraction sizzles between them. But their relationship may not survive if Montag learns who writes Kevin’s paycheck—or if Montag dares to confront the inner monster he hates and fears.

Review: This is book three in the Solitary Shifter series and I would suggest reading them in order, however they can be read as a standalone.

This story is a bit different from the ones I usually read. It has a bit of darkness to it but it doesn’t take away from the story. It has a little bit of humor mixed in with a lot of serious tones to it. I was a bit divided with this story but I did enjoy it.

Montag is a shifter, but he isn’t sure what kind. He had shifted once when he was a child and for it his parents basically dumped him. His mother had taken off not long after his shift, but his father did last a bit longer. From the moment he had changed his father had called him a monster. He even believed it, deciding never to shift again. He had a solitary life and he didn’t much care for those around him. He just kept all of his feelings bottled up and his animal.

That is until he was asked to go get rid of some drug dealers who had moved into a farm outside of town. What he had not expected was to find a man and his niece trapped inside. Nor had he expected to start getting turned on by the sight of him.

Kevin was not afraid of monsters or shifters. In fact he worked for a company that basically policed them. There are a few that are very dangerous and he thinks that Montag is one of those types. Although he thinks Montag is the safest ones he has actually met.

Things heat up with them both, that is, until Montag finds out that he works for SSU. He realizes that the man and his niece have a bit of trouble listening to him. Not to mention Kevin’s sister is so dependent on her husband Ray that it is a scary thought to let them near Sassy. Ray and his bone head brother are into some major bad stuff. They had plans but when they kidnapped Kevin things were bound not to go their way. Especially when Kevin fell in love with the strong shifter. Montag would protect them all even if he has to protect them from himself.

It does have a happy ending, however for a bit, one is not too sure it was going to happen. Montag has many different signs that show how unnerving he can be. If he let his bad side out he could be a major problem, but he never wants to let his animal out. Maybe in time he will learn to trust his animal. He does know that he is falling in love. I did have a big kick out of this story. It doesn’t flow off the pages very easy though. It felt like to me one would pull teeth to get to the end. However for me once I started I couldn’t stop.

I truly enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone.

Review: If you’ve ever served in any small town political capacity, or you’ve had to attend those endless chamber of commerce or city meetings…you will totally relate to this cute, funny little story. If you haven’t ever experienced those duties…you may have a hard time relating, but it’s still cute to see how many hats Josh wears.

Grady just came out of self-imposed solitary living among monks, trying to give up the vice that caused him so much harm. Once on the outside he agrees to help out his cousin, a famous travel writer, by taking this assignment to tour the towns of Norcross and Westbrook, and review for him, under his assumed identity.

If you come form a small town, maybe one with a dying or dead manufacturing past, you understand how important tourism is to the local economy and identity. So the small town of Norcross is investing a lot of time and manpower to make a good impression on Grady, or who they believe to be Geoffrey Michaels. Even to go so far as to pressure their local jack-of-all-trades, Josh, who also happens to be gay, to offer his “personal” touch to the tour.

The gig is quickly up and Josh and Grady realize the pressure they are both under, but still the sparks fly, the chemistry boils over and a love affair quickly ignites. The two also figure out what Grady’s cousin was going for when he mentioned to Grady that he must “loathe Norcross” and write about it. A bitter feud between two small towns, plus money and corruption soon uncover a plot to destroy Norcross businesses and reputation, and take opportunity away from this small valley town…

I never thought small town politics could be fun and sexy, but Summer Devon makes this twisted romance a great hub to spin this story out from. Again, it packs a bigger punch if you have civic service experience, but is still charming without it.

p.s. I do so love that bartender…Uncle Jackson. I need a bigger T-shirt collection…

Review: I thoroughly enjoy historicals. Especially set during the industrial revolution, because it is a time that changed the world and our entire society. The British aristocracy is falling and the middle class is rising, and that creates an interesting backdrop for our heroes.

Peter Lord Northrup is an established bachelor, used to stopping in at his friend’s kinky parties. He goes to his usual room to find a pleasant surprise waiting for him. They usually do provide a fun tryst for Stephen on weekends when parties are planned, only this is not that weekend, and the boy in his bed is not a gift of pleasure.

Lucky for Peter, the boy in his bed, Stephen, is curious and confused about his own sexuality, and happy to awaken to such a hot handsome dream.

Through a delicate cover of friends spending the weekend at a country estate, Peter and Stephen risk everything to explore many passionate encounters together. Their short time is hot and enlightening, and though Peter understands that they don’t stand a chance at love, Stephen’s heart is fully invested by the end of their encounters. Peter turns him away. Knowing the young man’s commitment to family, his education and his future stand in the way of any possible relationship, and Stephen’s heart becomes hardened, jaded as he leaves his love and lust behind.

Time provides more chance encounters, a couple engineered ones, and Lord Northrup can’t help but admit his heart was taken by the young passionate man he introduced to his secret world some time ago. Peter seeks out some acquaintances who have managed against odds to create a long-lasting, cohabiting, relationship as confirmed bachelors. Can the advice they give him work for Stephen and Peter, or will Stephen’s loyalty and commitment to his family business get in the way?

Plenty of melodrama and passion play out in this lovely novella. If you like historicals, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Seducing Stephen.

Review:  Alan Watleigh is a war veteran and a sodomite. He loathes himself for his secret attraction to men. He sets out to quench his thirst one last time before he ends his miserable existence. The last thing he expected to find in the dark gutters of the streets is the man that will breathe life back into his dying soul.

What these two find in each other is the strength to become the men they should be. Jem is young and vivacious. He can make Alan smile even in the darkest times. Alan was ready to end his life until he found Jem. But Jem woke something up inside Alan and he makes him feel more alive than he ever has. Now he’s torn between his growing feelings for the young cad, and his desperation to keep his sexuality a secret.

I loved the concept of this story. The homeless kid from the streets full of piss and vinegar meets Mr. Darcy in all his ruffles and refinery.

The narration left a lot to be desired though. It ruined part of the book for me. It was liken to listening to an instruction manual on assembling a desk! I would still recommend this BOOK for your viewing pleasure, but skip the audio as it will turn you off what otherwise is an excellent story of struggle and loss and then the joy of finding love in the last place you expected it.

Thankfully I have this book on my Kindle as well so I can go back and read it, once I wash the bitter taste of the narration out of my mouth. ** Note; my 3 star review is based in huge part on the narration **

Review: Dee and Devon spin a magnetic tale of two very different men coming together under social and familial difficulties, finding love through a common goal. Namely, to raise and care for a wild, abandoned boy whose heart, not his parentage, matter. The obvious struggles of social class, master/servant, hiding their romantic nature, and raising a wounded, insecure child combine to create plenty of drama, heat, and suspense. I was ensnared by the characters so much I wanted more! I wanted to see this family blend, observe the sister’s reactions, see how they handled raising the boy as more years advanced. I do enjoy family drama and historical romance. and if you do too, I’d recommend this read!

Blurb: Dear Author,
This is me, the adorable one in the picture, yes the one on the left. You won’t believe what I had to go through with the two cuties next to me! And what will lie ahead of us? Please help telling our story!

Photo Description:
A smiling dark-haired guy in his twenties or thirties is apparently driving a car. Another man, perhaps a little younger, also with short dark hair, is resting his head on the driver’s shoulder, eyes closed, and a faint smile on his face. Behind them on the backseat is a dog, probably a Weimaraner, and all we see of it is the dog’s big head, eyes closed, its chin on the resting man’s neck. All three look utterly contented.tumblr_mg05ha7hrR1rj4an5o1_500

Review: If you are a dog lover, this story will melt your heart. It is from the lost dog’s POV, so of course you have dog humor, odd scents, puppies, and puppy love. There is only a bit of alluded to physical love, but our Main Character, or main dog as it were, sure does do a great job of bringing her two rescuers together. Short, but sweet, and loveable if you love dogs…and even if you’re a cat person. 🙂
