Review: I’m honestly having a real problem rating this one. Mostly because this is an interesting and well-written story, but my problem is that it simply didn’t grab me like I wouldn’t be able to go on if I didn’t keep on reading.

Shawn Wells is well-known in his local area as the sauna slut because he hook-ups with just about every gay, bi and even a few straight guys. This may sound harsh, but this is almost a direct quote from the book, which is written from Shawn’s POV.

He’s a twink who is passionate about his town and the people in it, too. One of his favourite haunts is Hot Heaven, a sauna and bathhouse run by Toby MacIntyre. He’s a quiet and unassuming guy – totally the opposite of, at least for me, what one would expect from a gay man running a sauna. Perhaps I’m stereotyping?

Shawn and Toby really have some good chemistry, even if it seemed to have just appeared out of nowhere in some respects and in others it seemed like a slowly bubbling relationship. Shawn is all energy and infuses it with Toby. Toby by no means lacks energy; he’s just more conservative than Shawn.

They are certainly an odd couple but they work well. These guys are friends, sort of, but they know each other on a professional level before they start to get personal. Yet Shawn does lots of little things for Toby, like find him a reliable receptionist (actually, I wonder where the first one disappeared to? I don’t think it was mentioned that she finally got fired).

I have no objection to how these guys finally got together, my only issue is why did it take them so long?! Although when Toby has a go at Shawn I really feel sorry for Shawn, it felt like Toby had just kicked a puppy and that definitely added dimension to both characters. The conclusion was also nice in that respect because it was good to see where the characters ended up, otherwise the ending would have been abrupt and unsatisfying, to me at least.

There are some really interesting minor characters, mostly the guys that attend Hot Heaven. It was nice seeing the guys get together and do the whole community spirit thing when their town was under threat, yet at the same time I was kind of expecting a whole scene of “you have my steel… you have my axe”.

As I said, this is a good book with a fairly good plot. The only problem for me was that the story didn’t grab me. But if you’re after a lighthearted read, this definitely fills that criteria. And even better, if you want a satisfying end with a happily ended after and a reformed rake-type of figure, this also works there too.

Review: The boss was a total jerk, they get trapped in an elevator, and suddenly they can’t keep their hands off each other?

Compromising Situations is a bit hard to get into, I really tried to grab hold of this story and have some fun with the BDSM element, but it was a bumpy ride.

The writing and dialogue seemed rough, not a natural flow. For those like me, who like to read a bit of kink, this little story may also fall short. Jared and Grant begin to play master/slave games, but in the office, the salve rules the master…or does he…

The sexual scenes could have been so much kinky fun, but felt forced and not in a good way. Compromising Situations has potential, but I think I’d put this one on the bottom the TBR list with so much quality BDSM writing out there.

Blurb: Trying to jumpstart his waning career in travel and nature journalism, Jim Faulkner jumps out of a plane in the middle of the night to get the inside scoop on werewolves in Connor’s Crossing, Wyoming. Unfortunately, he lands in a tree and gets stuck. His rescuer is a mysterious and solitary man living in a cabin in the woods. Although Jim feels an odd connection to Dakotah, Dak’s silence is all but hostile.

Jim won’t give up though—he finds ways to be around Dak, both for the bond and his belief that Dak is a great source for wilderness information. As Dak continues to dismiss him, Jim is suddenly surrounded by progenitors—the most powerful werewolves in existence—who all seem to want Jim as their mate. After one abducts him, Jim has to fight for his freedom and for his one true mate. No matter how reluctant said mate is.

Review: This story is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Jim is a nature journalist looking for one more story before he gets to old, looking for werewolves in Wyoming seems like the story to hunt but landing in a tree is not his idea of fun but being rescued by a sexy man is. Dax is much more than just a werewolf he is a progenitor, one of the originals who created the werewolves and after many years alone he has no intention of mating again but when Jim lands in trouble Dax has a choice to make, accepting Jim as his mate or turn his back and let someone else snatch him up.

This is a great addition to the Lifting the Veil series and is loosely connected to both The Wolfing Way and Hunter’s Moon. When Jim first meets Dax, he only has one thing on his mind and that is his story about werewolves, but it isn’t long before he feels drawn to Dax and begins to fight tooth and nail to get Dax to pay attention to him. Dax isn’t an easy man to live with each of his mates has been dissatisfied and eventually left him, so Dax would rather be alone but Jim gets under his skin and unless Dax opens his heart he could just lose Jim for good. Jim is Dax’s mate but he soon discovers that the progenitors have a different set of mating rules and if Dax doesn’t claim him one of the others will, whether he wants to or not.

This story is well written and flows wonderfully. There’s drama that blends in well and all the characters make the story come to life. I quite liked this story and found it interesting as more was revealed about the werewolves, the idea of the progenitors and their matings adds a new view to werewolves and stubborn progenitors leads to some excitement as well. We meet other progenitors other than Dax and it would be interesting to see their stories in the future. Jim’s forgiving nature was a blessing for Dax when he finally pulls his head out of his ass, but damn Dax was annoying in his stubbornness. Jim and Dax do make a great couple and they are super-hot together when they finally work things out.

I recommend this to those who love fantasy and paranormal, a new twist with werewolves, difficult relationships, fighting for what you want and overcoming obstacles for love.

Review: This story is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Private Investigator Sam is surprised when he receives a letter hiring him to investigate a suicide because the person hiring him is the one who died. As he digs into the circumstances of Mo’s death, he discovers the secrets of those set to inherit Mo’s fortune, but what worries him most is his own lover, Rex Ford, is named in the will. Sam finds himself dealing with more paranormals than he ever expected, and just what do they have to do with Mo’s death?

First, let me say that I love this series, each book is different from the one before, and you never know just what sort of paranormals you will come across. Sam and his lover Ford have been together for five years ever since Ford awoke after being shot, but as Sam investigates his new case he discovers something he could never have imagined. The investigation has Sam delving into the family of child genius Mo Chase, Mo was plagued with devastation from an early age with the death of his parents and then the loss of his twin brother and Sam discovers someone is using it as a ploy for Mo’s death.

We are given a solid background of Sam and Ford’s relationship but the story isn’t centered on them, it focuses on Sam’s investigation and his discoveries but that doesn’t mean we don’t get to see plenty of action between the two men because we do and they are HOT! Following Sam as he puts together the flimsy clues he discovers is interesting and we see how Ford has some explaining to do, but their relationship is strong and Sam can’t really complain as he got the man he really deserved.

I really enjoyed this story especially the twist near the end, I love how we are introduced to more paranormals who were revealed after the Veil fell, and not just the normal paranormals like shifters or magic users. Each story brings a new set of paranormals. And in this one, we are introduced to the Gods of old. I can’t wait to see what paranormal we get to see in the next Lifting the Veil story.

I recommend this to those who love paranormal stories, private detectives solving mysteries, great characters and a great storyline, twists that surprise and a very happy ending.

Blurb:   Sheriff Jesse Brown tells his restless cowboy lover, Clayton Jennings, a bedtime story….

Snow Lake, 1883. Sheriff Lincoln “Linc” Redding is tracking an escaped prisoner through the wilderness of Wyoming. The young man, Edward “Ned” Dove, is accused of theft, his victim a military officer staying at Bernadette’s Boarding House. Dove was being transported to Fort Laramie to stand trial when he somehow managed to flee.

As Lincoln follows the trail and finally catches up with Dove, he learns things aren’t quite so black and white. Lincoln is forced to accept that a tin star on his chest doesn’t mean he has all the answers, or that just because a man wears a striped prison uniform doesn’t mean he’s guilty. It seems illicit conspiracies exist in the seedy underbelly of his town.

Lincoln’s loyalties are divided between doing his duty and falling for a man he shouldn’t.

Review: This is a book six in a series but it stood alone fine, since it was actually a story being told by another character to his lover.

I liked how this was told by a character as a bedtime story. I like a good historical type cowboy story and this was one.

Lincoln was one of the first gay Sheriffs of Snow Creek. This is the tale of how he met his deputy, Ned Dove. Ned was accused of being a thief and was being transported to Fort Laramie for a trial.  His was a bit strange for Lincoln as to why a thief was being sent there for a trial instead of in town but he wasn’t one to argue. Until he actually met Dove and heard his story, then things really didn’t set right with Lincoln.

The story was a good old west story, set in an old west time. It was also a good love story and fairly hot.  I liked the dynamics between Ned and Lincoln but the relationship seemed a bit too out for that time period.

If you like cowboys, old west eras, a bit of mystery and intrigue and some fairly hot mansex this is for you!

Blurb: On the night of the summer solstice, Obadai Bashim encounters Jules Sterling, a young engineering sage. Jules is on the run from a ripper, an assassin of the Theocracy who has already killed his master. Open atrocities by rippers are unusual in County Isleshire, where freedom and acceptance reign over prejudice.

However, political instability between the Five Kingdoms and the Divine Theocracy has set the theocrats on a mission to crown religious doctrine over science, and the Sage’s Guild is number one on their eradication list. If Obadai helps, he’ll have a price on his head too, but he can’t abandon Jules.

Escaping the ripper’s clutches is not enough. Jules has a mission of his own: to repair a faulty airship inn about to crash into the fortified township of Dunbruth. Luckily, Obadai has a few magickal secrets up his sleeve.

Review: A druid and an engineer. You think they have anything common with each other? Nope. Nothing at all. Yet they seem to balance each other well.

In a world where evolution is fought heavily by religion and science is being slowly killed, every magical being not blessed by the Church along with every scientist and inventor are being hunted and sentenced to die on the spot. His master already dead, Jules tries to run from his ripper while continuing to offer his services and repairing/preventing terrible accidents. He cannot do it by himself and he seeks help from the one person he feels he can trust with his life.

Obadai is not a warrior and his magick is not aggressive, yet he cannot refuse to help the young sage. He has the seed of Earth in him – a reason for the Church to hunt him down – and even that doesn’t kill the seed of love sparking to life once he get to know the young man. Together the run from the evil chasing them, they try to run from the ugly clutches of war.

A Steampunk marrying fantasy is the best description I can give this novella, and while it was fast and had a tension riding it, I found it also a bit too complex for its length and disorienting, as the entire world is built from scratch with not much to relate, names are a bit heavy in the eyes and even the days had different names, making it a real work trying to understand the world while simultaneously following the plot. However, the plot is quite simple once you get the handle of the name, places, society structure, and politics. Young man needs help. The rebel strives to give it to him. Together they attempt to get shelter away from the oppressive clutches of the Church.

There is a bit of action, there is a bit of romance (tame in its sweetness), and there is quite the new world opening right in front of your eyes. It ended too fast for the complexity of the background, but the fact that this is a series gives hope that we’ll see the structure of this world and the possibilities hidden with unveil in future installments.

Overall, I liked it and recommend it to fans of the genre.

Review: Gus is the owner of Four Corners’ occult shop and is intrigued by a new browsing customer, sharing information about the Wicca practice, Gus soon learns that Niall is a private investigator looking into the disappearance of a local witch and Gus soon finds himself helping the PI with his investigation. Niall is good at what he does but first he needs to learn what he can about the circles that Joy (the missing witch) moved in, finding himself with an assistant Niall soon finds himself on the outskirts of a murder investigation as Joy’s friends are being picked off one by one. Niall & Gus soon find themselves heading for unknown danger and their friendship is quickly turning into something more, but they both have to survive and solve the case before they can see where their friendship is going.

Okay so I wasn’t too impressed with this story and I think that was all down to Gus, because I took a dislike to him early on. Niall is hired to find a missing woman and his trail leads him to Gus’ shop, Gus finds himself drawn to Niall and ends up offering to help him navigate the Wicca world. Together they investigate and find themselves in the middle of something that they never saw coming. Niall is very open-minded as he learns the different practices and at first welcomes Gus’ help but then as the case becomes serious he wants Gus to step back but Gus has his own idea’s. Gus is very accepting of everything except when he feels someone is disparaging his chosen religion. He is also headstrong, so when Niall tells him to step back, Gus does not intend to leave the case alone.

Niall was my favorite character because he truly was open-minded about what he learned and saw. He was also very patient and pretty easygoing. Gus said he was open-minded but the second someone (usually Niall) said something he didn’t agree with he would start preaching and lecturing, he also saw attacks on his religion where none were. The case is interesting but slightly bizarre, especially with the way that things progress, as in the culprit and the reason behind the murders. I could only surmise that the culprit was a complete psychopath!

Learning about the Wicca practice was interesting and I never knew there were so many different traditions but you can clearly see the research Susan Laine has put into this book. The secondary characters were well written and really added to the story. I did enjoy the story and liked how it progressed, I liked that Gus and Niall are at the very start of their relationship and we see them as they work around the case and their attraction, but as I said earlier the reason of the mystery was kind of senseless and I really disliked Gus.

I recommend this to those who love Wicca mystery stories, solving murders, tearing head first into danger, seeing the beginning of a new relationship and a happy ending.

Review: This was a pretty good book. I felt that I would have appreciated it more if I was younger, however it was well written. I loved the fact that even though Lance/Lacy’s father was a mean drunk, that he got help and was trying to make up for everything he had done. Even though there were many who were homo-phobic there was even more acceptance. They went through many of the same problems others go through the only difference is they succeeded.

Review: Zane has money but he also has a job, though he only keeps it because his brother tells him he needs to, not for the money. Zane is into one-night stands, and not the nicest or most like person around. Joshua on the other hand is the polar opposite of Zane, mousy form a distance, quite sweet and very likeable.

This is a book 2 in the series but it stands alone perfectly. I loved how this started out and I rarely do this but I’m going to start with a quote: first line of the book. “THIS is the story of how my greatest screw-up turned into something wonderful.”

Doesn’t that just get hold of ya and jerk ya in, nothing subtle about that. This book is written with a great sense of humor and I suggest you don’t read it in public, because you will be laughing out loud a lot. The characters are unique and though Zane is not a likeable person I was drawn to him. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Poor Josh is so sweet you can’t help but want to hug him, he is absolutely adorable. The first love scene is so hilarious. This is a cute, short, fun story to brighten any gloomy day.

Recommendation: If you like a good, sweet love story about second chances, opposites, lots of humor, and happy endings, this is one to brighten any gloomy day! I highly recommend it!

Review: This story is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. Simon has recently become guardian to his brother’s children, Dale and Allie. But, juggling the children’s needs with his work on his horse ranch is becoming harder to cope with and his friend, May, recommends a nanny. Tristan is a manny and he loves his job. dealing with the Westford family should be just routine, but he clashes with Simon quite often with their opposing views. Their attraction won’t be denied and a deal is struck. But, they start to become close as they face what life throws at them. Simon’s mother is dying and Dale and Allie’s maternal grandparents threaten to sue for custody. Tristan and Simon must pull together as a family to keep their family together.

This story is a great sexy rancher novella with cute kids and a sexy manny. Simon needs help with his brother’s children. It’s bad enough that his brother died, but the children’s mother has become unstable and unable to look after the kids. Enter Tristan the manny, who realizes it isn’t only the children who need help. As Tristan and Simon become close and enjoying their secret relationship, Tristan becomes a rock that Simon didn’t know he needed. They become a family that they have to fight for and coming out of the closet isn’t the hardest thing to do.

I really enjoyed this story and its development. The relationship between Simon and Tristan doesn’t happen overnight and when it does start it’s hot and explosive. They keep it on the quiet and then everything happens all at once. Simon’s mother doesn’t have long to live and then there’s the custody threat. Tristan is a brilliant character and he clashes with Simon at times, but only when Tristan thinks he is right. Simon is more ridged in his thinking and Tristan smoothes down his rough edges. They make a very interesting couple and make great parents and you root for them to vanquish the threats against them.

I will recommend this to those who love cowboys, mannys, family stories, compromise, finding love, hot sex and a very happy ending.

Review: This book started off promising. The blurb was intriguing, but I didn’t love it. Dan, the XO of a submarine for the Navy, stumbles upon the wreck in the country while on vacation. He calls his friends for assistance and they let him know it’s probably Patrick the town screw up. Dan goes to check on the man and quickly realizes the man is wasted and is indeed Patrick.  Dan tries to do the right thing by denying some pretty strong advances at the crash site, but a few kisses occur and Patrick dubs Dan his fiery Angel.

Dan feels some strange need to take care of the man after the strange moments they shared at the crash site. He can tell Patrick is scared and prepared to be ridiculed for another failure, but Dan tells him it’s just a bad day. Patrick knows he’s out of control. He’s has his own dreams but they’re being crushed under his father’s guilt and vicarious expectations. Dan instantly brings a calm to Patrick’s life. No judging or lecturing. He’s just there for Patrick who seems to need him. Patrick is drawn to Dan and after his kindness he wants him near while he fights the hangover and injuries. Dan takes him to his friend’s home to recuperate. Patrick and Dan quickly give into their lust, but Dan is leaving in a week and Patrick isn’t out in his town. So what does this mean for their budding romance?

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if it weren’t for the continuity problems. A person shouldn’t be able to speak of the character of someone they’ve known for less than a day so strongly. If it was one time I could have over looked it but it just kept happening. If someone has repeatedly crashed their car drunk enough to have a reputation then police should be called regardless of the person’s stature in the community. Dan stating early in the book he’d always wanted to be in the navy then saying he just followed his brother. I feel like if I can see these things, someone else should have.

Also, all conflict in the book was resolved too easily.  Years of problems are reconciled after a few minutes of talking and it just wasn’t realistic at all.  I liked the premise of the book but sadly will probably remember the faults far outweigh the positives here.

Blurb: Just off work one wintery evening, EMT Jack Waters comes across a blazing building, and he sets out to do his job. A day later he wakes up in a hospital, suffering from severe burns. For a man who values his beauty, the injury is devastating.

But Jack hardly has time to process what’s happened. Waiting by his bedside are his cop ex-boyfriend, Kevin Thompson, and his fireman rescuer, Luke Kennard, who both seem determined to compete for his attention—burns or no. Jack pushes Kevin away, fearing the man will want nothing to do with him now, and seems to be proven right when Kevin leaves without a fight. The scene is set for seductive, playful Luke to begin a flirtation with Jack, soothing his fragile ego.

When new fires break out all over town, targeting rescue personnel, clues point to someone close to Jack. He survived one fire, but he might not be so lucky next time. For it seems he is pursued by a relentless foe. If he isn’t careful, the flames will reduce him to ashes… unless the love of two men burns him first.

Review: This story is part of a series and is best enjoyed in order, although this story can be read as a stand-alone. When Jack hears a woman’s scream and a child’s crying when he is on his way home from work, as an EMT he doesn’t think twice about running into a burning building. Waking up in hospital with burns is hard especially when his ex-lover Kevin is in the room.  But, he rallies when sexy fire-fighter and his rescuer, Luke, comes to visit. Kevin is pushed away as Jack seems to welcome Luke, and Kevin refuses to just step aside.  As Kevin investigates the fires a chilling pattern is found and Jack becomes the target of the arsonists rage.

This is an interesting story of opposites attracting, but finding it difficult to connect in a relationship.  Add in an admirer and a firebug with an obsession and we have an explosive story. Jack comes across as flighty.  He loves attention, he loves flirting and he’s boisterous and energetic and although he has deep feelings for Kevin, he can’t work out why they keep going their separate ways. Kevin is a more staid man.  He’s quite, keeps his emotions to himself and is prudent and stoic.  He loves Jack and thinks he knows why they can’t stay together, but he isn’t giving up on them.

Luke is introduced as a potential love interest, but don’t be fooled he is pivotal to the storyline, but not how we first suspect… and not how we secondly suspect either (is that mysterious enough for you *g*). This story has two main focal points, the first is the relationship between Kevin and Jack and them working out between them where they keep going wrong and the second focal point is the mystery of the firebug and his reign of terror and his obsession. Kevin and Jack keep missing the mark and it isn’t until they have a heart to heart that they both face the facts and recognize their own failings.  But, their love always brought them back together and now they might be able to move forward… but then there is Luke, the sweet sexy fireman with his penchant for bringing roses to Jack.

The mystery surrounding the firebug is really interesting and the way that Jack gets dragged into danger by being in the wrong place at the wrong time adds some tension.  You get pulled into the story even while you think at times that Jack acts like a child.  You truly want to slap him, as he rubs Luke in Kevin’s face. Luckily, Jack wises up, but you still want to give him a little slap. I really did like this storyline with its twists and mysterious firebug, and I also liked the way that Jack and Kevin had to delve into themselves to fix their relationship.  Their relationship isn’t perfect, but they don’t give up even when tempted by external forces. I really do hope that Susan Laine will write a story for Luke, because after everything in this book he really deserves his own story.

I have to recommend this to those who love messy relationships, admitting your faults, grabbing onto love, a mystery, danger, hot sex and a happy ending.

Blurb: What does love sound like? If you hear it, will you heed its call?

Police officer Jordan Waters is recovering from a shooting by moving to a new apartment in a new town and taking a new job. In other words, he’s lonely. His first instinct is to relieve his anxiety through uncomplicated sex—until he meets a man so far out of his league and experience that he stumbles for the first time.

Police volunteer Sebastian Sumner may be deaf, but his spirit, openness, and sense of humor give him the strength to get through anything—even the emotional defenses of Jordan Waters. But it’s his own family history that poses the biggest challenge. Can he learn to trust Jordan with his heart, or will his upbringing blind him to the sounds of love?

Review: Jordan has moved to Washington D.C., after getting shot on the job in New York.  He needed a change of pace and Washington suits him just fine.  Now, he has found someone who has captured his attention, but he has some unexpected emotions to work through. Sebastian works for the police department as a volunteer and when he first meets Jordan the attraction is there, but he is wary of Jordan’s behavior towards him.

This is quite a sweet story about two emotional damaged men who must work through their feelings to come together fully. Sebastian has been treated like an invalid by his family because he is deaf, but he lives a fulfilling life in Washington away from his family. Jordan has for the most part felt abandoned by his family, who seem to be spread all over and rarely keep in touch. Jordan has a lot to work through before he can accept how he really feels for Sebastian, whereas Sebastian can accept it easily, he just needs to help out his brother.

I must admit that I was slightly confused at first as to Jordan’s own description of his own personality when compared to his actual thoughts and actions. But, then I realized that he was only mellow when it came to everything else except his own feelings.  When his feelings became engaged, his calm went completely out the window and he became a manic in his own brain. Sebastian is a wonderful character who is so full of life and doesn’t let the fact that he is deaf affect him too much.

Although, this book is well written it does seem to drag at times and that’s because of Jordan’s internal debating and internal dialogue, he really can ramble. The relationship between Jordan and Sebastian seems to move slowly, but it doesn’t.  It’s just really drawn out in descriptions.  The entire book is just over three weeks with nearly half the book being for the first few days.  There’s conflict thrown in to show how emotionally messed up Jordan is and we get some more in the shape of Sebastian’s mother as well. The high point with a bit of light relief is both Jordan’s brother ,Jack and Sebastian’s brother, Bro, they are two great supporting characters and added some much-needed lightness to the book.

I will recommend this one to those who love sweet sexy men, emotionally distanced men, conflict, slight danger, hot erotic loving and a happy ending for all.

Blurb: Ten years ago, the Great Unveiling revealed the presence of supernatural beings living on Earth, but not all humans know much about them—or care about them as anything other than a paycheck.

Kieran Knight is a freelance mercenary who hunts mythical beings for money. He abducts a man called Gabriel King, intending to turn him over to his client. But Gabriel isn’t any ordinary cowboy. He’s a powerful werewolf and the beta of his pack—and as he and Kieran soon discover, he is also Kieran’s mate.

Kieran knows next to nothing about how mating works and he isn’t gay—but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel the chemistry heating up between them. To save Gabriel, Kieran orchestrates an escape, but his clients won’t give up their werewolf without a fight.

Review: This story is part of a series and best read in order. Kieran works with a group of mercenaries.  They will take on most jobs, including kidnapping mythical beings, as long as the price is right. Kidnapping Gabriel shakes Kieran’s world and has him questioning his behavior and his treatment of mythical creatures. Fighting his cravings for the werewolf is hard, but how can he just accept wanting a man? Gabriel has to process his feelings when he discovers that his mate is a callous mercenary. Getting to know the man while on the run makes it a bit easier, but having Kieran reject him for being male is hard when the mating pull is strong. Can Kieran and Gabriel truly mate when Kieran isn’t gay?

Hunter’s Moon is a nice continuation of the Lifting the Veil series. It has a connection to The Wolfing Way with Gabriel being the older brother of Rafe. Gabriel and Kieran are nothing alike.  Gabriel is calm, gentle and tries not to let anything get to him, even when he is kidnapped. Kieran is hot-tempered, coarse and doesn’t care about many people, until he kidnaps Gabriel. Both men have difficulties when they discover they are mates, but coming to an understanding is harder than either thought.

I really enjoyed the first half of this story. Gabriel is kidnapped and discovers one of the mercenary’s is his mate. Kieran feels a pull towards the werewolf they have captured and discovers he can’t leave him in the hands of his employers. They escape together and the truth of them being mates comes out, but Kieran’s straight and finds it hard to accept. The second half of the story is all about Kieran trying to accept the mating and Gabriel trying to reassure him. It isn’t easy for either of them; especially Kieran because Kieran is straight and until he gets a whiff of Gabriel’s pheromones had never had a reaction to any man. I found the latter part of the book to be a disappointment because a lot of their ‘getting to know each other’ time was brushed over and just mentioned in passing. We didn’t get to see Kieran softening to having a male mate or coming to terms with his change in sexuality. we were just told he was and did, and I was still left with the feeling that Kieran was still only willing to give it a go and not that he had developed any feelings for Gabriel.

Although I liked Kieran, I hated that I was left guessing at the end about if he would fall in love with Gabriel. Gabriel is clearly more than half way there and I would have loved for it to be a genuine happily ever after. The sex between them is very primal, passionate and hot. We are left in no doubt about the sexual side to their mating because it is HOT.

I will recommend this story to those who want enemies to friends to lovers’ story, hot sex, gay for you, conflicting emotions and a happy for now ending.

Blurb: Ten years ago, the Great Unveiling revealed the presence of supernatural beings living on Earth. But the residents of the ruined city discovered in Majlis al-Jinn are long dead—or so junior archaeologist Pip Butler thought until he accidentally unleashed a very naked genie named Jinn.

Even though he’s been shyly pining for his charismatic supervisor, Val Velde, Pip has a hard time refusing Jinn’s flirtatious advances. He barely has time to even consider the fact that he has an all-powerful genie and three glorious wishes at his fingertips when ruthless mercenaries sweep down on the dig to collect the most valuable artifact of all—Jinn’s lamp.

So Pip, Val, and Jinn have to work together in a race against the clock to discover the secrets of the ancient city, free their captive colleagues, and keep Jinn from the mercenaries’ clutches—all while trying to sort out their romantic tangle.

Review: Pip (Philip) and Val are archaeologists who are at the site of Majlis al-Jinn, a ruined city that became visible with the Great Unveiling. They make a discovery that forces them both to admit their feelings to each other, but it also puts them in grave danger. With the help of the Genie Jinn they face a danger untold, while running for their lives and discover that there is room enough for three in their relationship.

I loved this storyline; discovering a Genie’s lamp, having unscrupulous men wanting the lamp at any costs, discovering love and escaping from ancient traps. Pip and Val have been work colleagues for a year, both secretly wanting the other. When they discover a lamp at the archaeology site it forces them to confront their feelings for each other. Jinn is the Genie tied to the lam., he becomes enamored with the kind and lovely Pip and fiercely attracted to the charming and gorgeous Val, and just when things start to become interesting three are put in danger.

I really enjoyed this story and especially loved the hidden traps and rooms in Majlis al-Jinn city. Watching Val, Pip and Jinn having to put their differences to the side and work together to solve the problems was really good. The characters were really good and each one had something special about them although Pip seemed a bit of a push over.  He should have confronted Val, instead of leaving it to Jinn. and Val was too quick to be offended about secrets being kept from him, especially considering the doozy of a secret he was keeping.

The storyline moved smoothly and was filled with a good dose of action and adventure; I liked the interaction between the three MCs and they had great potential. Now and this is where I was left feeling let down and cheated… the last 50 pages, it was mainly page filler, I was so disappointed. We have Jinn, Val and Pip naked and ready to give us some spectacular sex but they kept interrupting it to talk about other stuff and it put me right off… I couldn’t see how any person could interrupt some hot sex that they desperately wanted to talk. It was frustrating. When they did eventually get down to being down and dirty it was really hot and they were really spectacular together.

So I will recommend this to those who love the paranormal, Indiana Jones type adventure, three hot smoking men, some hot sex and a happy ending.

Review: Kris is about to get the shock of his life. A simple routine blood test changes his life forever, when he is matched as a mate to a werewolf. Now he has choices to make that don’t just include what he should do after college. Rafe has waited two hundred years for his mate and although he is desperate to meet his mate, he can wait another couple of weeks, while his mate gets used to the idea.

I found this to be quite a refreshing story. The whole idea of a world where every human is aware of all paranormal and mythical creatures, and together have come up with a registry where humans and paranormals can be matched is good.  But, what is even better is that not all the people who are matched wanted to be matched. Kris is one of those people.  He has plans for the future and if he accepts the mating, then he will have to give up his dreams. Rafe just wants a chance to meet his mate and show him his life won’t be over if he accepts the mating, but things happen during Kris’s visit that make Rafe think that Kris would be safer on his own.

A very good story that interested me from the start. When Kris and Rafe meet there is a strong sexual attraction which scares Kris. He is terrified that he will become a slave to his sexual needs and resents the power that Rafe could have over him. Rafe has a strong need to protect Kris and to love him, but it’s hard to fight someone’s fears. Kris is really resentful of being mated, of having his choices ripped away from him and is terrified of what he has heard of the mating instinct and it takes him a while to come around. Rafe is such a sweetheart that you feel sorry for him at the way that Kris keeps reacting.

I will recommend this to those who love the paranormal, shifters, hot sex, confused men, an unexpected attack, some hot sex and a happy ever after.
