The Haunting of Angus MacGregor
L.J. Harris
Angus Macgregor has endured a lot in life. Mother passing when he was a small child, he also nursed an ill father to his last breath. But when he loses his one remaining relative, an uncle he’s never met, his existence is turned on its head forever. Bequeathed Clan Gregor Castle in the Scottish Highlands, Angus leaves Australia behind to take on the family business. It’s there he finds more waiting for him than he ever dreamed possible.
Daniel Ramsey is a man with secrets, none more dangerous than the fact that he can see what others can’t. When he meets one particularly handsome Australian, the attraction is immediate. Hesitant to let down his guard, his hand is forced when a former guest of the castle comes calling and attempts to stake a claim on the very man Daniel wants.

THE MUSINGS OF AN INTROVERT
by L.J. Harris
When I decided to sit down and think about how much my life had altered since becoming an author, I couldn’t help but be astounded. It isn’t just about the discovery of one’s dream and being lucky enough to be able to pursue it. There is so much more to it than that.
Anyone who has met me personally is more than aware of how shy and introverted I am. Rather than crave the limelight, I prefer to blend into the background. And don’t get me started on crowds. Social situations cause me so much anxiety that when it becomes too much, I need to go someplace quiet to regroup.
But chat to me about anything to do with writing and all it encompasses? I’ll not only join in on the conversation, but ramble on and on about my favorite authors, most memorable stories and any other interesting anecdotes till the cows come home.
I was recently paid a visit by fellow reader and all around wonderful person, Lauren Marks as well as one of my favorite authors, Max Vos. We’d gotten to know one another online over the years, and even briefly met at last year’s Queermance conference, but with how many people were there, hadn’t exchanged more than a few words face to face.
When they told me they were coming to visit a few months back? I was both excited and nervous. Excited because two people I’ve admired and respected for a long time were coming to see little old me. Nervous because, yeah, cue the social situation. But I needn’t have worried. They were both such warm, wonderful people, and made me feel so relaxed it simply wasn’t an issue.
On reflection, I realize how fortunate I am. I have such a wonderful group of people supporting me and my work that there are times I have to pinch myself. My one wish is that someday we all get to meet. I want to throw a gigantic party (Vegas, baby!) where my beta readers, Kaye P Hallows, M. B. Feeney and Lily Adile Lamb as well as my editor, R. E. Hargrave and cover artist J. C. Clarke will all be in attendance, as well as all the fantastic friends I’ve met, both at the conference and online. And we will talk and laugh until we’re hoarse (maybe even sing a little karaoke, yes?)
In the meantime, to everyone, readers, friends, fellow authors and family, a big and heartfelt thank you for changing my life for the better.

Excerpt
“Welcome home, Master Macgregor. The name’s Madeline Ramsey, manager o’ this fine establishment.”
Angus was greeted by a short, plump, middle-aged woman with kind brown eyes and hair the colour of fire. As she shook his hand, she regarded Angus with an openness he hadn’t anticipated. Given the circumstances which surrounded his presence at Clan Gregor Castle, he’d half expected to be treated as an interloper.
“Nice to meet you, Madeline.” Pain surged in the back of his throat, but he managed to swallow it down. The only reason he was there was because he’d lost people near and dear to him. He’d have given anything for the situation to be different.
Angus dragged his suitcase behind him and set it down in the middle of the large foyer, taking in his surroundings while he fought a looming yawn. The flight halfway around the world had been long and uncomfortable, but the excitement of inheriting an actual Scottish castle had kept him more than wide awake.
Certain the second his head hit the pillow he wouldn’t surface for several long hours, perhaps days, the plan was to enjoy every moment he could before jetlag took hold. Angus Macgregor had never ventured this far from his family home in eastern Sydney before. Since discovering his uncle, William Macgregor III, had passed the week previous, his mundane existence had become an absolute whirlwind.
“Please, call me Maddie.”
“Only if you call me Angus.” He winked at Maddie, and she giggled in a light, lilting manner.

About L.J.
L. J. HARRIS is a mother, wife, an introvert and author. Her family is her life, her soul, and the very reason she gets out of bed every day. Coming a close second is her writing.
She discovered a passion for putting pen to paper in her later years, jotting down poems in birthday cards for family members.
It was then a spark was lit, and ever since, she hasn’t been unable to switch off the urge to share her stories.
L.J. Harris discovered that as much as experiencing pain, loss and betrayal can be devastating, capturing the feelings of anguish and loss that some of her characters have had to endure without firsthand knowledge would have proved difficult.
L.J. has been previously published and has shared several online stories and looks forward to continuing to share her work.

Review: Angus travels to Scotland to take up his inheritance and family business, a Scottish Castle; he plans to also investigate his heritage after learning a little from his uncle William before he died. Strange dreams plague him and Angus discovers a similarity between him and one of his long dead ancestors, and the fact that Clan Gregor Castle just might be haunted after all.
Daniel has always been sensitive to ghosts; living at Clan Gregor Castle has been a blessing as there has been no activity for several decades but with the new owner’s appearance Daniel discovers the castle might not be as safe as he’s always thought.
This is a great little story that has a fantastic background, and a sweet romance blossoming. Angus didn’t discover he had an uncle until just days before his father died, he cultivated a long distance relationship with the only family he had left and he’s then left devastated by his uncle’s death. Being left a Scottish castle gives Angus the chance to start fresh and also gives him the opportunity to discover his family’s background. Angus also has a chance at love in the shape of one of the castles workers, but Daniel has secrets that he hides.
Daniel is a very sweet man who has been hurt by his gift, living in remote surroundings gives him peace but not much in the way of companionship but the new owner of the castle catches his eye and he can only hope that the man can accept him completely.
I enjoyed this story and loved the way that it was written, both Angus and Daniel are great characters and the background ghost story is wonderful even if it’s sad. I liked the way that Angus and Daniel were with each other as they got to know each other, they didn’t throw themselves at each other, it was a more ‘feeling out, getting to know you’ interaction.
I would like to say that their first time together was hot and romantic, but being honest I found it a bit skeevie, well they weren’t exactly alone when it happened and I’ll say no more about that! I would have much preferred if they at least had their first time being just them and then the scene that did happen could have happened a bit later after we knew that they both wanted sex rather than being left to wonder if they would have had sex so soon if it wasn’t for the circumstances.
Other than that sex scene I did genuinely enjoy this story and will recommend it to those who love ghost stories, spirits finding peace at long last, a new relationship being forged, hot sex and a fantastic happy ending.

Thank you for hosting me 🙂 LJ
