This is a question I’ve been asked several times, and believe it or not, it all started on Facebook. I came across an article about a small town in Connecticut that was for sale. The idea of buying an entire town fascinated me, so I posted it on my Carol Lynne Facebook page. I’m still not entirely sure how it happened, but after some discussion on Facebook, I decided to create Lobster Cove. Instead of setting it in Connecticut, I decided on Maine because I’ve spent time there and have a better feel for it.

The decision to write the Lobster Cove series as a spin-off of Cattle Valley was a natural one. I’ve written several books in the Cattle Valley series where I’ve mentioned the fact that the town is running out of land for expansion. Like Cattle Valley, Lobster Cove will have reoccurring characters and intersecting storylines. Expect to read about muscular lumberjacks, brooding fishermen, hot cops, scorching firemen and a mysterious lighthouse keeper. I must admit, I’m excited to explore the town residents.

In Welcome to Lobster Cove, stonemason Boone Jensen moves to the budding community of Lobster Cove to carve out a better life for himself and his younger brother Laddy. Dante Madia is a chef who hires Boone to complete the stonework on his new restaurant. The attraction between the two men is immediate, but Boone has his brother to consider, and Dante is busy trying to rebuild his life after trusting the wrong man. The characters of Laddy and Dante’s best friend, Ava, were fun to write, and I can’t wait to delve into Ava’s story.

In this new series, I plan to explore gay, bi-sexual and transgender characters, and I hope readers will be open to the love portrayed between the pages regardless of the gender pairings.

Boone returned his full attention to the winding road in front of him. It was July, which meant he’d need to check out the school before long. According to Nate, the council in Cattle Valley was working hard to weed through the applications in search of educators and other positions that still needed to be filled in Lobster Cove. Boone had discussed Laddy’s needs with Nate, and Nate had assured him they would keep Laddy in mind when interviewing teachers.

Shortly after Boone had turned up the radio and lost himself in the soulful sound of vintage Marvin Gaye, they came upon a large wooden sign that read ‘Welcome to Lobster Cove’.

“We’re here.”

Laddy sat up straighter as they rounded a sharp bend in the road.

When the small town came into view, Boone barely managed to keep a gasp from escaping. He pulled over to the side of the road and parked. Lobster Cove was laid out before them in all its glory. He’d noticed the brightly painted houses on the video, but nothing could have prepared him for the sight of them in person. His elation quickly turned to pain at the realization that he may never be able to afford one of them. Medical bills and funeral costs had wiped out not only his savings, but also the equity he’d received from the sale of his boyhood home. For the near future, he and Laddy would live in a small, one-bedroom apartment. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but he hoped he could find enough work to pay the rent and have some left over to put away for a down payment on a house.

“Pretty,” Laddy said.

“Yeah.” Boone rolled down his window before sticking his head out to inhale deeply. The smell of the ocean combined with freshly mown grass brought on a surge of emotion. Christ. He’d never had such a strong reaction to a place before. Yes, the town, with all its colorful houses and picturesque waterfront shops, was like something from a calendar, but in his heart, he knew it was so much more. He glanced at Laddy, wishing he had the means to give his brother the fucking moon. “I found us an apartment to stay in for now, but maybe someday we’ll be able to live in one of those houses.”

“Okay.” Laddy shrugged. “Do you think they have candy here?”

Boone grinned at Laddy’s one-track mind. “I’m sure they do, but let’s check in at the rental office before we explore the town. Deal?”

Laddy shrugged again, which meant he didn’t agree but either knew he wouldn’t win the fight or couldn’t come up with the words he wanted to say.

Boone put the truck into gear. “It’s three now. We can get the keys to our new place and have the truck unloaded in time to walk downtown for supper. If we finish early, maybe we’ll take a walk along the dock. How does that sound?”

“Can I have grilled cheese?” Laddy asked.

“Sorry, buddy, you had grilled cheese for lunch. You need some meat and vegetables.” Boone hated the role of food police, but if Laddy had his way, he’d eat nothing but grilled cheese and candy.

Review: Lobster cove is a new series spun off of the popular Cattle Valley Ranch series. With Cattle Valley filling up and many more LGBT people requesting a place there, Asa has purchased a town in New England.

I loved this first book of the series. We met Boone travelling with his brother Landon (Laddy). Laddy has Downs Syndrome and d Boone got guardianship after his mother passed away. Life hasn’t been easy and had put in his application for Cattle Valley after his lover left him shortly after he got Custody. When Asa told him that Cattle Valley was full but there were opening on Lobster Cove Boone jumped at the chance for a clean start for himself and Laddy. He quickly got a job putting up stone on Dante’s new restaurant.

Dante was an up and coming chef that lost nearly everything when his business partner up and left taking most of the money. Sparks flew instantly between these guys when they met.
This was such a great start to a new series. The story line is interesting and new intriguing characters sprinkled about.

There are lots of characters, though the main focus is on Boone, Dante with Ava and Laddy as their secondary characters. The extra characters add dimension and interest through the story. Once you start reading you are pulled in and before I knew it I was done several hours later.

If you like lust at first sight, fast-moving relationships, realistic settings and stories, cute kids, and a very sweet and hot relationship this is for you!
