Review: This is book two in this series and they should be read in order. Each story has some of the characters in prior books and tells you about their story. The way they live their lives, the reason they do some of the things they do and what makes them they way they are. It is an amazing world that you will find yourself lost in. A world that will draw you in and have you falling in love. The characters are full heat and desire. I love the way they are told. It has such a serious tone but there is the hint of humor in it. I love this series, which is normal for me when it comes to the author. Lynn always gives me great stories to read. The characters have so much depth and detail that you will be captivated with them, and then you see the way they are with family and friends that you will want to hang with them. Then you see them with their mates and you will fall in love with them.

The Breed Assassins were kidnapped when they were just babies and raised in a military fashion. They were not touched nor loved, yet they grew up as best friends. It is twenty some odd years before they find out the truth of who they were and what they were. They were in fact brothers, cousins, and one who was raised in the family. All the time they were in the hole that they were raised in Thoran only wanted a mother’s love. So when they escape and find out that they are in fact royalty they set out to fix it all. Then Thoran finds out he has a little sister that had been kidnapped ten years ago. He is all set out to find her.

He ends in a place that he had remembered from five years ago. He had seen a man that he wanted with all of his heart. Only to find out that he had been sold to a brothel. Set out to save him, at first he treats him badly. Then he realizes that not all is as it seems. He must save Eaton.

Eaton didn’t understand why his family sold him. He had never once given the man any trouble, even willing to work hard to help pay the taxes that they owe. Then he is sold to the brothel. Once the owner finds out that, he is a virgin his intent is to sell him to the highest bidder. That didn’t turn out the way it was supposed to go, because the Breed Assassins save him. Then after a bit, they are mated.

This story is amazing and I absolutely loved it. I love the fact that the men can get pregnant in this story. It cracks me up to read it every time. This story gives you sexy men that are shape shifters, hot sex, passionate glances, feisty attitudes, quirky little mates, excitement, adventure, and dangerous situations. It gives you a twist that you will love. It captured my attention from the moment I opened the book and kept it all the way to the end. I would recommend reading this book because once you do you will find yourself in a world that will have you falling in love.

Blurb: When his vicious cousin Alejandro makes a violent late-night visit, San Diego homicide detective Ray Delgado gets a brutal reminder of why he left his family behind. Alejandro wants Ray to find his sister, Sophia, who disappeared from the UC San Diego campus, before the FBI digs too deep into his business.

Special Agent Elliot Belkamp spent his entire life jumping from one place to another, but his new assignment assisting a FBI task force offers him a chance to settle down. When Elliot catches a missing person’s case as his first assignment, the last person he expects to find poking around the victim’s dorm room is Ray, a one-time hook-up he’s more inclined to punch in the face than kiss hello. After discovering Sophia’s disappearance is linked to a massive computer-based theft that has two powerful crime families ready to declare war, Elliot focuses on his investigation and tries to ignore Ray. As the search for Sophia turns dangerous, Elliot and Ray discover that tackling organized crime might be easier than resisting the urge to tackle each other.

Review: Ray is a homicide detective and his family is a big crime syndicate. However Ray isn’t connected to his family, he is a good detective and one of the best at solving a problem and reading people. Ray has discovered that he is attracted to men, but is fighting his desires though he has flings he has limits. He refuses to let himself be gay or out.

Elliot has transferred to the FBI in San Diego. Ray Delgado was the last man he wanted to see. The way Ray left him stung, yet seeing him dredges up memories and desires, but he has decided he is holding out for a relationship and Ray will never, be in the place where he can be involved in one, so he is off limits.

Ray’s cousin Sophie, that he has raised and feels more like a sister, has been reported missing. Ray knows that if Alejandro is after her its more than she is missing. A report of stolen money and a big gang uprising ensues and Ray and Elliot are thrown together by links.

I really liked this book a lot, but once I began, I got the big impression this was part of a series. He further I got into the first few chapters the more I felt I needed to know a few things. I went out, looked at the book and front matter, and found nothing about a series. The story started with lots of action and pulled me in so I kept on. Now having said this, I will say there was plenty of information drop done skilfully and throughout the book. By the time the book ended, I had a good picture of what was going on. Though I wanted to know more about Ray’s ex-partner and the past case and Rays family.

After the book was done, I found this is a spinoff from A Casual Weekend Thing. I do suggest you read it first to really get the full impact of the story (I will be getting a copy myself) however, you can read it as is and still enjoy it as I have. The story line is fast paced, lots of action and twists and turns. The dynamics between Elliott and Ray are intriguing, suspenseful and very hot and sexy.

So if you like a really good police drama, mystery, action packed suspense involving crime syndicates, twists and turns and some really hot man-sex with a very satisfying, sweet ending this I for you. And I want more!!

Review: Southern Charms is a quaint little bed and breakfast sitting on the gulf coast. Business has taken a major hit from the hurricanes and the oil spill. Though the spill is clean, tourists still haven’t begun the trek back to the out-of-the-way and quaint resort. The only thing keeping it alive is the restaurant that is part of the hotel.

Dakota is the chef and co-owner of Southern Charms. Charms is his life and home and he is very unhappy with the sale of the hotel half by his best friend Edward. When the new co-owner and business partner comes in, Dakota is not very accepting or helpful at all.

Samuel Ashford is sent to see if the business is worth saving and able to be the first of his Mother’s new adventures in adding smaller boutique hotels to their chain. This is his first real solo venture and he really wants to impress his father, who really thinks it’s best to let it go and shut it down.

This is the first book in the series and wow what a setup. We are introduced to numerous, fabulous potential bearing characters, a beautiful, charming setting, and plots galore. There is lots of action in this first story, a little mystery and some steaming hot man-sex. I was so into the book, the sudden ending surprised me. Good thing I already have the next! You won’t want to put it down once you start.

I will say I would have labelled this as a serial instead of series since there was a point not quite resolved. Having said this I figure it will be resolved eventually and it does help make you want to go forward. I personally would have liked this one point settled in this particular story though. Having said that, it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the book.

I love the chemistry between Samuel and Dakota. It’s not a love at first sight story. I can’t wait to see all the other characters find love.

If you like intriguing series, sexy characters, chefs, businessmen, romance, conflict, a bit of mystery, and some really steamy man-sex this is definitely for you!

Blurb: Tommy O’Shea is raising his seven younger brothers and sisters without any help from his drug abusing father and stepmother. It takes up every ounce of his energy and the last thing he needs is romance complicating his life further.

Tommy isn’t used to trusting outsiders, and he’s never asked for help in his life. But when a tragedy strikes the O’Shea family and threatens everything he’s fought for, he’ll have to learn to do both to recover from the brutal hit.

Review: At just twenty something years old, Tommy O’Shea is the primary caretaker for his seven younger siblings. His father is a drunk, his stepmonster is an addict, so much so that they steal from the own children in order to feed their habits. Tommy and the next oldest Colleen work multiple jobs just to keep food on the table and the lights on. It’s second nature to Tommy to take care of his brother’s and sister’s. He’s determined to keep them together and out of foster care, and he’ll seriously injure anyone that thinks otherwise.

Tommy has known Officer Bobby McAlister since they were kids, and now that they are older, Bobby has become a guardian angel of sorts. He’s kept Tommy out of jail on more than one occasion, and now he’s stepping up and helping Tommy at home with the kids as well. As much as Tommy wants more from the blonde haired young cop, he doesn’t want to expose Bobby to the harsh reality that is his world. And he’s not even certain that Bobby is gay. A chance meeting at a gay bar answers that question, and set in motion a series of events that will change the O’Shea family’s lives forever.

Bobby is as determined to be a part of Tommy’s life as Tommy is to run him off. The two fight, argue, and say hurtful things in the heat of the moment. But Bobby never gives up on Tommy or the kids. While their arguments made my teeth grate at times, there was a comical madness to them as well that rooted them in reality. The way they loved just as fiercely as they fought painted them as three-dimensional characters giving them more depth. And I loved that they could just kiss each other for hours. Every time they kissed, it was as if they kissed each other a different way, I liked that variety from the author.
This book was a beautiful tragedy full of emotional ups and downs.

My heart broke for Tommy and what he had to go through to try to keep his family together. For those kids who were saddled with the most disgusting and worthless parents, I mean who tries to steal their one year old twins Christmas presents so they can sell them for drugs?! For Bobby and Tommy and the toll it took on them both as a couple and as individuals. But I loved watching their relationship slowly unfold, from friends to lovers to a family. And it all progressed over time, it didn’t happen overnight. Tommy was recklessly determined to spend his life alone, the martyr that gave it all up to raise those kids. Sometimes though, you really can have it all, or at least all that you are meant to have.

Fans of real world stories and my fellow hopeless romantics are going to love this one. Add to that the snarky sense of humor these two guys have and that makes this a must read dramady!

Blurb: An exciting new voice in romance proves that giving in can be the best way to let go…

Michael Sebastian thought Curacao would be the perfect place to have a little fun in the sun—and between the sheets. So far, no one has struck his interest, until Sam Anderson walks into the bar. With one look at his tense body and expensive suit, Michael knows that this is a man in need of release. And Michael is more than willing to lend a hand.

But when Sam starts his new job as the CEO of a failing technology company, he discovers that Michael is one of his new employees.

While Michael is desperate for another night with Sam, he knows he shouldn’t get involved with his boss, let alone another man who can’t accept who he is. But as they’re forced to work together to save the company, the desire sparking between them becomes impossible to ignore…

Review: Sam Anderson just got a new job as interim CEO for a Company he means to save from financial ruin, which he’s quite good at, and to celebrate he’s off to Curacao for a break. Sam wants to go somewhere to relax, somewhere away from prying eyes where he can be himself. It doesn’t take long for him to catch the eye of someone, someone who can tell how high-strung Sam is, and someone who can take control of Sam.

Michael Sebastian has been in Curacao on vacation for a week and yet to find anyone that caught his eye. That is until the sexy suit with the silver cufflinks stumbles into the bar. The man is wound tighter than a drum, and Michael is more than willing to help him release some tension. Imagine his surprise when the man is ready, willing and able to submit to Michael in every way. The attraction is intense and the sex is mind-blowing, but both realize it can only be the one time. No names, no titles, no strings.

S. Randal Anderson and Mike Sebastian only know of each other on paper, or so they think. The shock to both men would be apparent to anyone paying attention the first time Anderson meets with all the employee’s. No names, no titles, no strings just went right out the window. Sam and Michael are forced to work together in order to save the company that Michael built from the ground up with his two best friends. To say the tension is thick would be an understatement of gargantuan proportion! As hard as they try to stay professional, they are only human, and it’s not often that a Dominate finds not only the perfect Submissive, but also the perfect man for him.

The push and pull is unnerving at times. They don’t want to jeopardize the buyout or their jobs, but they can’t deny the way they make each other feel. Sam is not out at work, hence the reason he had to hide to find Michael in the first place. And Michael has a troubled past with a partner that was closeted, so he refuses to go there again. But these two men are seriously like magnets, they can’t not hover, sway toward each other. Once the company looks to be secure in a buyout the cost just might be clear for them to endeavour a relationship. Sadly, there is an underlying threat that neither man anticipated that wants to destroy not only their relationship, but their business as well.

Okay, there was a lot of story in this story. And what I mean by that is the business jargon and explanation of what the company is, what it does, how Sam is trying to save it. At times, that was a little tedious, but other than that, this book was a delightful treat. The BDSM aspect was explained in such a way that it wasn’t rude, violent or a turn off. I actually was enthralled with the Dominate and Submissive traits and how I perceived that each man became that way. And let me tell you, this book hits the ground running with Michael pounding Sam into submission in the first chapter!

And even though the attraction to each other was immediate and intense, this wasn’t an insta-love story. The relationship, the trust and the communication was built over time, with a few roadblocks along the journey. Sam is very much in charge when he has his suit on, but Michael is the dominate in the relationship. They have to navigate that and figure out how that works on both sides before they can commit. There’s a part in the story where Sam takes too much at once, in the bedroom, and even though his mind and his feelings are saying give me more, Michael knows that his body can’t take anymore right then. It was fascinating seeing the story through their eyes, seeing this different side to the BDSM explained this way. It was at the heart of what made this story different and appealing to me.

I’m babbling, I’ll stop, go grab this book! Seriously, it is a BDSM story at the heart of it, but it’s not abusive I promise. It’s just really, really sexy as hell!

Blurb: Jake Manning’s smart mouth frequently gets him into trouble. Because of it, he can’t hold a job. Combined with some bad luck, it’s prevented him from keeping steady employment. On landing, he finds his new boss, Patrick Stanford, a fussy, arrogant, rude… and blind man.

Review: Jake Manning is trying to climb out from under a debt that isn’t even his, but his snarky attitude and inability to know when to shut up isn’t doing him any favors. He finally lands a decent paying housekeeping job for the man who no one wants to work for. It’s a bit of a shock when Jake learns that Patrick is blind, but Jake can give as good as he can get, and the nasty grams that Patrick leave in the form of daily notes actually make Jake laugh. Jake is curious about the man behind the Braille though.

Patrick Stanford was born blind, so he’s never known anything else. He’s rich, handsome and set in his ways, which usually involve him getting his way. He is intrigued by his new housekeeper that seems to fare better than the last dozen or so, but Patrick is working under the assumption that Jake is in fact a female.

Everything comes to a head, so to speak, when Patrick is home sick one day and the employer and employee finally have a face to face. Jake is floored with how young and good-looking his boss is. Patrick pretends to be stunned by Jake’s gender. When Jake goes out of his way to take care of Patrick and nurse him back to health, then genuinely shows an interest in being his friend, Patrick starts to come out of his shell some. Over the next several weeks, the two become close friends, confidants and eventually lovers.

Things may seem perfect, but then they rarely are. Jake has had an awful time in the past, being taken advantage of because of his sexuality. As well, Patrick has had issues with being blind and learning to navigate the world in darkness. Add to that some family issues on Jake’s side that only seem to keep coming and these two will have to learn to bend in order not to break.

It was very refreshing to read a story where the two male leads started out as friends then became lovers over a period of time. Accepted each other, good and bad, and built on that foundation. There were a few times in the story where the author, writing and characters seemed to disconnect. But overall, I loved the blending of personalities and the chemistry between Jake and Patrick. And how they made a life together, while including their life outside each other in it.

This was just a fun, romantic read with a teensy bit of angst and some family drama to make it more interesting. My fellow hopeless romantics are going to love this one.

Review: This is the Second Book in the Southern Charms Series. I think in order to really understand it you need to read them in order. There are a couple small ongoing storylines and the major storyline of the renovation really does connect the series, plus if you don’t read the first one you won’t know too much about the other characters.

In By the Numbers, Chandler has agreed to come to help Samuel organize the mess of files and help figure out what the big financial issues are, especially why the restaurant is in the red when it’s always a sell-out. Chandler has extreme OCD, claustrophobia, germophobia, asthma, anxiety, panic attacks, you name the neurosis the poor man probably has it. Though he knows it will be physically and emotionally draining on him, he does it for Samuel. He is a great friend, though I was a little miffed at how Samuel wasn’t quite as accommodating and considerate to Chandler since Chandler was really doing such a big thing flying there, accepting a ride from a stranger, not having a kitchen to prepare his own food etc. This was a major step for Chandler and I adored him for it.

What isn’t there to like about Sully. A big, sexy construction worker with a heart of gold, considerate, thoughtful loving, sexy as hell. Oh yeah, he is my kind of man. Where can I get a Sully? I loved how he caught onto Chandlers issues so quickly and was so kind and considerate to help him.

The ongoing storyline is still good though, I was hoping some things from the last one would be addressed and tied up in this one. I do like the ongoing renovation and can’t wait to see the outcome of the beautiful Southern Charm. To me she is a character as much as the people are.

I really, really liked this lot. I absolutely loved Chandler. I swooned over Sully and I actually loved his campy gay t-shirts. My only real issue is that once again there was a smaller plot that to me wasn’t ever addressed. I can’t say much more about that without spoilers. I truly love this series and can’t wait to see what happens with Reece in the next one and how the Southern Charm is progressing!

If you like ongoing series, beautiful locations, lots of sexy unique men, OCD, campy t-shirts, construction workers, a fun, sweet contemporary romance with lots of characters and the hottest hand-jobs I’ve read in a long time, plus some sweet sensual man-sex, this is definitely for you. Oh! Don’t forget the yummy food!

Review: Ellis is a loner in his final months of high school and really doesn’t have any plans for his life. He secretly has a crush on the new man, Saul. But, even though he doesn’t hang around with the other kids, he is afraid Saul has heard his secret and wouldn’t be interested and/or probably is straight.

Saul has some secrets of his own. He does notice Ellis and soon he is more than interested in Ellis, he is completely obsessed with him. Carey, Ellis best friend wasn’t able to make it through school and isn’t able to find a job. He isn’t sure what to do with his life and is facing some sad decisions. Ellis mom has some secrets and at time takes her frustrations out on Ellis. There were times I really wanted to smack her.

This is a very sweet, story of three young men and how they are dealing with becoming adults. At times, it is a bit sad. All the sex is off the page and I feel that it’s tastefully done for young adult.

If you like sweet stories of budding romance, coming of age, handling what life throws at you, and a satisfying ending this is definitely for you!

Blurb: For Dillon Turner, home was never a place that meant anything to him. It was simply where he lived until he was old enough to leave. The day he turns eighteen, he boards a Greyhound bus and leaves Chicago behind for what he hopes will be something better.
Upon arrival in Omaha, an unexpected streak of good luck leads him to Banks Motel where he meets sexy tattoo artist Adam Banks. A belated birthday celebration is just the beginning for them, and Adam easily infiltrates the protective wall Dillon has built around his heart and becomes the center of Dillon’s world. Adam and the Banks family take Dillon in as one of their own, and Dillon finds he’s never been happier in his life.

That is until becoming a part of someone’s family proves to be harder than Dillon thought. When caring about other people makes him more vulnerable than he can handle, Dillon’s first instinct is to run. Throw in a meddling ex-boyfriend and it all becomes too much for him.
Can Adam prove that the positives far outweigh the negatives, or will Dillon let his fear of being hurt ruin his chances at finding a real home?

Review: Dillon Turner is just minutes past his eighteenth birthday when he boards a bus and leaves the darkness of his past behind him. He purchases a ticket for Omaha, for no particular reason than it’s not Chicago. When he arrives, he finally takes a minute to think about his situation. He doesn’t know anyone, where will he work, where will he live? As luck would have it, he winds up at the Banks motel and eventually in the arms of the owner’s grandson, Adam.

The Banks family are kind, generous and immediately accepting of Dillon. It is a kindness that Dillon is not used to and he is very wary of them in the beginning. Where Dillon’s parents were either drunk and/or drugged out of their minds and emotionally absent since birth… Adam’s family is always in each other’s face, very loving and attentive. It sort of scares the shit out of Dillon at the start. But Adam is patient and kind, biding his time until he can move Dillon from his guest room into his room.

Both men have something from their past that defines them, some type of tragedy or circumstance that makes them less willing to trust. They will have to learn how to navigate each other and, most important, to communicate if they are going to make their new life together a permanent one. While Adam mourns his dead parents and remembers the pain of a broken heart, Dillon has nightmares of being violated when he was just a child due to his completely oblivious parents parenting skills. Has Dillon found his home with Adam and the Banks?

What a beautiful love story with unnervingly simple and down to earth characters. While the heart of this story is the love story that is ever growing and evolving between Dillon and Adam, the secondary characters give it an added grittiness that make it that much more endearing. Watching the two of them learn not only how to be a couple, but how to be a family and deal with issues that arose on a daily basis, both good and bad, gave the story some depth. There are a few years between them and at first, I thought maybe Dillon held conversations in a more mature manner than a normal eighteen year old would, but then when you think about his life up to this point, he is way more mature for his age than he should be.

I was completely engaged in this story from start to finish. It’s a very romantic, sexy and endearing story about finding your true love your first time up to bat. About Dillon finding the Home he always wanted with Adam, and about Adam finding the Home he so desperately wanted with Dillon. Just beautiful! Yes, it’s a must read.

Review: Maxwell returns to India when he receives word his father is dying, to take over the family business. They produce some of the finest silks. Max has been living in England with relatives since he was 15 and his sister died. His parents sent him there so he wouldn’t contract the disease and die as well. He has gotten engaged to a lovely socialite woman. He always knew someday he would return to take over the legacy but wasn’t prepared for it to happen so soon.

Jake is the son of a wealthy general, but has bent sent away after he disgraced the family name. Max’s father took him in to give him a chance to rebuild his life. Max has never met someone like Jake that is so free. Max finds that Jake awakens many feelings he didn’t know he had and that he is afraid he cannot act upon.
There are many secrets that abound, and many twists and turns.

I loved this story. It is set abroad and also in the past in a time when homosexuality could get you killed. I loved learning some of the Indian customs and would have liked even more on the business side of how the cocoons came to the mulberry bushes and the silk was made.
I found the story beautiful, sensual and a little sweetness in the family closeness that helped balance the dark secrets.
It’s a great story and I can’t wait for the next in the series. The sexual relationship between Jake and Max was not only, sensual but also smoking hot!

If you like historical romance, other countries, different cultures, mystery, secrets, and some hot man-sex you will really like this.

Synopsis: A romantic comedy featuring a Jewish family who struggles coming to terms with their son’s non-Jewish and gay boyfriend. When the gay couple adopts a child and it makes headline news, their families come to defend them and realize how much they love them.

Review:  This movie had me in stitches almost throughout the movie. I will grant there were a few serious moments. Lanie Kazan and Saul Rubinek as Shirley and Martin Hirsch were great as a couple trying to come to terms with their son being gay. John Loyd Young as their son Nelson was fantastic as well. Watching Martin interact in the gay bar was hilarious.

Nelson tries so many times to come out to his mom I think he was about to give up. The expression on his mom’s face is priceless when he and his partner are holding hands during the marriage scene. You have to give Nelson’s parents credit. Especially his mom as she is struggling to come to terms with her son being gay. Nelson and his partner Angelo wanting to adopt a baby hits the news and a protest ensues at the courthouse. Both sets of parents are there to support the young men. The moment when Shirley speaks to the reporter is what really makes the movie for me. It about brought me to tears as I vividly recalled the moment my mother accepted me for who I was as a person and a human being.

I would recommend this movie to anyone that wants a feel good comedy to watch. I would give it a four of five stars.

Blurb: What if sexuality wasn’t a definable thing and labels merely got in the way?
Nick Jones can’t remember a time when he wasn’t part of the in crowd. Everywhere he goes, he stands out as the best-looking guy in the room, and women practically fall into bed with him. Then, after kissing Corey on a dare led to much more and on many occasions, Nick’s “screw anything” reputation escalated, but he didn’t care.

When Nick meets RC at the restaurant where he works, it throws his whole life out of whack. Overweight, always sweaty, gay, and hairy like a bear, RC lives up to his dubbed nickname “Scruffy Dude.” He seems Nick’s complete opposite, but Nick can’t get him out of his head.
Because of peer-pressure and his fears about defining his sexuality, Nick struggles with stepping out of his comfort zone and caring about someone different from himself. If he’s lucky, somewhere between arrogance and ignorance, Nick might find out what it means to be an adult, but if he’s wrong, he could lose everything.

Review: Nick Jones life changes after just one kiss. He doesn’t realize it at the time, he’s actually always been gay, but he’s hidden behind a string of girlfriends and that one boyfriend that lights him up like none of the girls can. He refuses to be gay though, in fact, if he had a mantra it would be “I’m not gay!” for as often as he says it. Me thinks thou doth protest too much!

A year later and Nick is just going through the motions in his mundane life. The only bright sparks are his friend and sometimes lover Corey, and the strange man who eats where he works all the time, RC. He’s broken up with another girl, and jumps straight into a relationship with yet another girl, trying to convince himself that getting laid on a regular basis makes him happy. But getting to know RC more with each conversation they have is making Nick take stock, and reconsider some things about himself.

RC is not an easy man to get to know. He is always on guard and doesn’t let anyone close. He has no friends and no social skills to speak of. But there is something about the cute guy that works at the Diner. It takes a lot of effort and time, but the two become friends, best friends in fact. Both men appreciate that they can just be themselves around each other. But as Nick starts to open himself up to the feelings he’s having, he starts to want more from RC than just friendship. RC is adamant that he is not going there! His past is way too painful and Nick is way too much like a lot of the people who made that past painful. Nick is about to find out what he wouldn’t do for the right guy, which is nothing.

This was very a much coming of age and finding yourself story. Not just for Nick, who is trying to decide his sexuality, but for RC as well. As he’s never actually been in love or been loved. Nick was raised with so much love, and the entire time he’s wrestling with his emotions over what his parents will say when they find out, he doesn’t realize they already know. What Nick has to learn is restraint, patience and unconditional love. So what if RC is a little overweight, big, and burly. The way he makes him feel safe, protected and loved regardless is what Nick comes to realize are the important things. He fell in love with someone, the wrapping doesn’t matter.

This book was an emotionally charged and endearing story about a very slow building love between two unlikely men. Trust and communication are what is at the root of their relationship, which is built before anything else, and it’s what makes them so strong. At first, it looked like this was going to be another ‘gay for you’ story, but as the story played itself out, it wasn’t that at all. And these characters were far from perfect, if anything, they were perfectly flawed. Another thing that only added to the depth of the story. And it was refreshing to read a character that was surrounded by love and acceptance, his demons were the ones he created himself by his actions, and only he can change that.

I devoured this book in one long setting. I was so intrigued by the dynamics of the characters, and the way they bounced off each other. Sexy, romantic, endearing and realistic are just a few words to describe this book. Definitely a must read.

Blurb: Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. When Tanner goes on vacation to get away from school and work, he learns this the hard way.
Though he hates water, Tanner agrees to join his older brother and friends away from home for two weeks at the beach. There he meets Chase, a gorgeous local who offers to show him the sights and introduce him to what he’s been missing. Against his better judgment, Tanner agrees. He’s given the gift of pearls, and his life is quickly turned upside-down as Tucker’s friend (and Tanner’s long-time crush) Jimmy starts acting strangely.

Tanner learns that there are things in the water that go beyond human understanding, and he’s left with two major questions: What is a siren? And why is it hunting Tanner?

Pearls in the Darkness contains dark themes that some readers might find disturbing.

Review: Tanner is on vacation with his older brother Tucker and several of his brother’s friends, including Jimmy, at the beach… to spite the fact he can’t stand the water. At a small cafe one afternoon he meets Chase who woos him, shows him the sites and gives him a string of pearls as a gift. When he finally meets up with Tucker, Jimmy and the guys, Tanner learns he’s been gone for several hours when it felt like only a few.

Jimmy is acting stranger than normal, Tucker is being very overprotective, and Chase seems to find him in his dreams. Tanner hates the water, so why does he find himself not only in the water, but being taken by Chase, who was not who he presented himself to be at all. Turns out that Tanner’s biggest bully that has always picked on him because he’s gay, Jimmy, is actually in love with him. But now Tanner has gone and gotten himself claimed by Chase who means only to harm him.

I’m so confused! I read this thing twice. I still don’t know what exactly is going on. I think Chase was like a dark fairy or a demon, the pearl fits with fairy because you aren’t supposed to take gifts from them. And then Jimmy who was brazenly homophobic at the start, but only to hide his own feelings toward Tanner? And then Tanner seems to forgive him about five seconds later because he can kiss. What?!

I tried to like this story, I love fantasy and stories about the Fae, but this book left me nothing but confused and bewildered. Read at your own risk.

Blurb: Aaron and Josh come from extraordinarily different backgrounds in small town America. Aaron is the only child of a fundamentalist preacher who fears and condemns the ways of the world outside their community. Josh is a jock who can only seem to express the feelings Aaron stirs in him by tormenting Aaron about how he looks and dresses. But one day, Josh’s world is turned upside down by a simple sentence spoken by Aaron, and he decides to get closer to Aaron.

Aaron assumes it is a new form of torture, but Josh persists: first, a ride home, then talking with Aaron while he does his afternoon farm chores. Then Josh persuades Aaron’s father to let him participate in a scholastic event out-of-town one weekend. Josh pays a huge price for Aaron to attend, but that one weekend persuades Aaron to get free of his parents and attend college.

College doesn’t solve all their problems, though. Josh is horrified when a senior on campus seduces Aaron. He can’t believe Aaron has always been gay and he missed it—and missed getting to be Aaron’s first. But when Aaron finds out his boyfriend isn’t faithful, things go from tense to worse.

Review: This is a beautifully written story of two young men from two different cultures. It deals with bullying and abuse.

Aaron pretty much hates his life. He has to dress as his father says, do as he says and eat what he allows. His father is a very strict head of the family and community. He has Aaron’s life planned out. The only reason he allowed Aaron to go to high school is to help in taking over his father’s business (the Farm, the church and leading the community). He has already arranged for him a wife though he isn’t quite 18 yet. Aaron wants the freedom to see what’s in the world, dress as he pleases and fit in better. He sticks out like a sore thumb with old out of date glasses, and the traditional handmade black pants and white long sleeve shirt.

Josh and his group have picked on Aaron since he began school. Aaron is very big enough to hold his own, but his culture doesn’t allow him to fight, ignoring the issue just fuels the fire. Then one day Aaron fires back at Josh when he goes on how funny and weird, he looks. He replies that he knows it and that peaks Josh’s interest. Josh becomes relentless in finding out more about Aaron and they become friends.

This is such a beautiful, touching story though it does start out a bit rough. There will be moments you will cry. I absolutely loved the dynamics in Josh and Aaron. They are both good boys at heart, though Josh started out as a bully. It brings up a very good point though. A lot of bullying is because the other doesn’t understand why someone is different. I liked the slow development with Josh and Aaron’s relationship. I found the sex of the page still sensually hot and adequate.

I had two little issues: I found in a few places it was a slight bit repetitive. Something in one paragraph may be repeated in the next couple. This didn’t happen a lot or enough to be too distracting though. And I found the ending a bit flat. I would have liked a bit more. Perhaps an epilogue letting us know how they do or hint of a new book.

Overall, it’s a beautiful story. If you like Young Adult, coming of age, Amish, bullying, sweet but off the page man-sex, friends to lovers and a good romance this is for you!

Blurb: Marc, a small pet shop owner and seer, needs help with his store, but his new employee, Galen, brings with him more trouble than expected. Marc tries to keep their relationship professional even if Galen seems insistent on taking it to the next level. And then there is the problem of Galen’s past.

Keiran, a hard-working medical student and Marc’s best friend, has a small problem, a stalker. One night he confronts the man and finds that his stalker vampire, Devlan, is too alluring to turn down. But Devlan isn’t who he seems to be.

When the four men meet up for a night out their lives fall apart. Marc’s premonitions turn out to be wrong and everything points towards one autumn night a couple of years ago. Now they need to figure out what happened that night, before someone dies, again.

Time is running out. The visions might be false, but they don’t paint a pretty picture, not about their futures and, especially, not about their pasts. They need to reverse the change before it is too late.

Purchase Link: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/333022

Review: Otherkin’s is a very unusual story. It is a story of four young men and how their fates and destinies cross. They each have certain talents or powers that make them an Otherkin.

Marc and Keiran are friends. Marc is a seer and Kieran a Psychic vamp. Marc sees the future but the future can always be changed. All of a sudden, his visions seem to change and he finds out that someone has done something to change the future and he has to find out who and what and if it can be repaired or they may all die.

The story had a lot of promise but I had a few issues. First of all, it seemed like something was missing, almost as if I had picked it up in the middle. I had no idea what a seer was. I also had no idea Galen had a power or what it was. I had so many questions. I will say that you must read this one out to the end. Eventually most of my questions were answered only leaving a couple about some of the others powers. I liked the concept of the Otherkins a lot. I probably would have enjoyed the book more if I knew more about each boy sooner such as how Keiran and Marc became friends, their ages(at times it felt as if they were very young like under 19 then all of a sudden older and working) and more about the powers. Having said that it was an intriguing and sweet.

If you like new adults, coming into powers, new unique breeds, physic vamps, vampires, seers, twists, and kittens this is definitely for you!
