Review: To enjoy the overall effects of this series I would suggest starting with the first book, because let me tell you they rock. This series just keeps getting better and better even after listening to them over and over. Which is exactly what I did with this story. There is so much action, suspense, a bit of a mystery, hot sex, twists and turns in this that my attention was captured from the moment it started.

Charlie gives you an entertaining story with hot men and two very feisty girls, then adds in danger and excitement. Not to mention the humor from Dex, which always rocks. I couldn’t wait to hear about Ash and Cael from the moment I opened the first book. You could see right from the start that there was something there, just the right amount of heat. However the fear was still there. I loved getting to know Cael just a bit more also. He is my favorite of them all with his cute cheetah fir.

Ash and Cael had been friends from the start, when Cael flustered and the coffee went all over. Ash just couldn’t say a bad thing to him. He was attracted from the moment he saw him, but his past keeps getting in the way. He had been with a boy when his twin was killed. He felt guilty and punished himself many times over. From then on it was just screwing women, that is until Cael. He wanted so much more.

Cael had been adopted by Tony but not all of his life was good. He tended to pick asshats for boyfriends, with one of them on the top of the worst list. When he shows up, it is intent of pain that pushes Ash closer. Now the whole team knows about them, Cael fears that Ash would never really move forward.

What really surprised me about this story was Tony’s reaction and attitude, it was a blast. Then there are the twists and turns in this story that had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to find out who was the bad guy. Now I must admit though that I do wish there was more action involving their Therian side.

The first few books had it, but this one not really as much which I missed. I loved how Dex gives Ash hell and tells him to treat his brother right or it was going to be Alaska. Dex is always fun to have around.

Mark did a wonderful job with the story but for some reason it didn’t come off as good as the first four books, but still didn’t divert from the story itself. He brought the characters alive and made them sound just as I imagined them to be. However with all of the men’s voices in this audible you could tell that Mark was trying to make them different but didn’t really catch it.

I loved the ending and the shock that they had. It had me laughing my ass off at it. I loved that Ash worked through his problems and he got a surprise of his own that had me smiling. I can see myself listening to this more than a dozen times, and I say that because I have already listened to it four of those dozen times. I had so much fun listening to this and can’t wait for book six. Charlie rocks the THIRDS world.

I would definitely recommend it.

When he meets Ian O’Donnell, an account manager with a local tabloid, Rick figures his personal rules for relationships should be enough to keep him safe from more than a one-night stand.

Their attraction is immediate, electric and mutual. Ian convinces Rick to break more and more of his rules and his defenses crumble. But someone watches. Review: Rick Haviland doesn’t do attachments. He does one night stands and occasionally, finds a friend that is willing to share the benefits of a hook-up only kind of relationship. But as soon as a guy starts acting like a “keeper”, their name is scratched off the list.

Meeting Ian O’Donnell changes everything. Rick keeps his past tucked away, never revealing his whole self to anyone, not even his best friends. That shadow that looms over Rick is what has kept him from getting to close to anyone, but Ian slowly breaks down all Rick’s barriers and he finds himself wanting more with someone for the first time ever.

Ian is no stranger to keeping secrets; he hid his sexuality from everyone he knew until recently. When his brother, Curt, who is also Ian’s best friend, came out to their family Ian was pissed. Not at Curt mind you, but at himself for not having the courage at the time to do the same.

From the start, Ian wants more than just a casual hook-up kind of relationship with Rick, but he recognizes the look of sheer terror in Rick’s eyes at just the mention of anything to do with any type of commitment. So Ian works the friend angle instead. The man is actually courting Rick, and Rick doesn’t even realize it. But darkness in your past is never forgotten and not easily washed away.

When Rick’s past invades his present, it could destroy them both.

This is probably my favorite book of this series. Ian was definitely the stronger of the two men, both physically and emotionally. That being said, I liked that he was the one that kind of had blinders on when usually, it would have been the other way around.

Ian is so focused on Rick that he doesn’t see when another guy is blatantly flirting. And then Rick decides to ignore what he sees when someone is slashing his tires, keying his car and setting his porch on fire. Both men are forced to pay attention when Rick receives an envelope of very revealing images.

While the images could destroy both men’s careers as well as Rick’s entire world, they force Rick to be completely open and honest with Ian about his past. Again, I really liked the way this played out. Rick is convinced that Ian will duck and run, cast him off just like everyone always does when they learn the truth. But Ian is already completely committed, he digs his heels in a stays.

Opposites definitely attract in this book, narrated by Tristan James, and he really brought the characters to life. He nails the Irish brogue perfectly any time he speaks it, and he has these subtle shifts in his voice that alert the listener to a change in the characters attitude or mood. You also don’t have to wonder who is speaking as James clearly changes tone and inflection from one character to another.

The series as a whole is very well written, the various characters are all part of the same family and close knit circle of friends.

So I would not only recommend you giving this one a read or a listen, I would recommend doing so in order so you can fully appreciate the books as the Author intended.

But the only looter around is Tom, bursting back into Prophet’s life. It turns out that Prophet’s been stuck in Tom’s head – and heart – too. Their explosive reunion gets even hotter when Tom is arrested for murder. As they fight to clear his name, they delve deep into his past, finding enemies among everyone they meet.

Review: Tom has been trying hard to reach out to Prophet to no avail. It’s as if the man has disappeared. When a hurricane hits his home, he has to check on his aunt even if it is a big risk to him. When he arrives, he is shocked to see the one man he both longed to see and was so angry with.

I liked this story even better than the last. We get more insight into both men’s pasts and lots more hot man-sex. I liked Adam North’s story telling. I still am not fond of his Tom’s voice, but the new voices especially Charles the stoner was quite fun. Adam has a way that really brings excitement to the parts with emphasis and he really makes the sex scenes hot.

I really enjoyed this story. Tom and Prophet are a hot, exciting couple. I am anxious to see more secrets unravel.

If you like mystery/suspense, undercover agents, secrets and hot man-sex, you will love this!

Review: Each book in Rescue for Hire collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading or in this case listening the series in sequential order.

Darcy is a new narrator for me, not hearing the voice until I listened to book one. Now I must admit that there is something missing but it is still an enjoyable story. I do love how the characters are brought to life and that each voice is distinctive that you can tell them all apart. I do look forward to hearing Darcy tell the story.

Although I could have done without the female in the story. She was a bitch and a complete lush to me. I didn’t much care for her at all, and when she spoke it felt like nails on a chalk board. I tried to skip over her when I listened.

Jack is a paramedic on his team and loves to care for others. However when it is his time off he loves to party and sex is part of it. However it is about to bite him in the ass. When he rescues a sexy little teacher and several students from a crazed gun-toting kid.

However his ex-girlfriend just doesn’t want to stay gone, so it causes a bit of struggle trying to convince Brian that he wants him for life.
Brian is a sexy little guy who is not only tiny, but comes off a bit fragile. Although he is strong enough to hold his own. His family is one of the sports families and he doesn’t really fit in. Now he has a sexy man looking at him but he is still a bit leery of him.

However he is not going to let it stand in his way to be with Jack. Then something happens and it is going to take all of Rescue for Hire to get through. It looks like their days are going to get a bit more exciting.

I loved the whole story well except for the female. She just needed to be out of the story completely, she got on my nerves. I loved how Jack showed Brian that he was the important one in the relationship and not the stupid female. Although they both hit my favorite marks all the way around. I have to say that it is not my top favorite audible, but it comes in pretty close.

I would definitely recommend this audio book.

Review: I am going to admit I have not read this series and do wish I had. The advantage of reading over listening is that you can go back and read over parts easier. There is so much going on in this book that I am going to skip the run down, but I will add in a few more points.

Prophet is also engaged in a game of cat and mouse or should I say steal the couch with a spook that lives in the same building. While this is a fun part of the story and Cillian does have a larger role later in the book it is hard to figure out how Prophet keeps doing this with casts on both arms.

Which brings me to another point, we begin with Prophet in casts and there are other couples mentioned later in this book which makes me wonder if this is a spinoff. Now having said, that I really liked the book, like I said there is a lot going on, it seems confusing in parts, but by the end some of it falls in place other parts are tied up in a very intriguing cliffhanger that does its job making you want the next book!

Now for the audio part. I enjoyed listening to this book. Adam North is a good narrator. I will have to say I did not like his Tom voice at all. It didn’t sound Cajun and didn’t add anything to his character. The other character voices, the distinctions were slight but I think enough to tell them apart. However, the actual telling of the story was very good and the sex scenes were smokin’ hot.

If you like espionage, secret agents, spies, lots of twists and turns, and some very hot man-sex this is definitely for you.

Police captain Asher Penaz’s staunch professionalism bleeds into his home life, down to his neatly pressed attire and spartan apartment. He enjoys being in charge and in control, so his sudden and powerful attraction to the lighthearted, free-spirited Daniel Tover throws him for a loop.

In his entire life, Daniel has never gotten what he needs, so he moves to the next place, the next job, the next attempt to find something worth staying for, always landing at the top of his game, but never feeling like he belongs.

The chemistry between Asher and Daniel sizzles, but with all that fire comes the risk of getting burned. As both men struggle to learn themselves while getting to know each other, the lines of desire and control blur.

If Daniel and Asher can walk through the flames together, they might find what they desperately need.

Reviewer: Tams

Review: Asher Penaz commands complete control in every aspect of his life. He is a no-nonsense police captain when he’s on the job and a brash, sharp, meticulous DOM when he plays. He doesn’t do relationships, kisses, romance, and boyfriends. No. Asher is confident in his life, until he meets an adorable blonde that blushes, has freckles and trips over his own feet in the middle of an empty room.

Daniel Tover stumbles into Asher’s life and neither of them will ever be the same. But when push comes to shove, can the cute guy that is most comfortable in his baggy jeans and flip-flops, soften the rough edges that constantly surround Asher Penaz?

I was drawn into this book from the first stumble in the hotel lobby in Vegas, and pretty much listening intently with bated breath from that point on. Asher is the proverbial alpha male type. Large, brooding, commands compliance as well as your undivided attention.

Daniel couldn’t be more opposite, polar, in fact; the very definition of twink to an extent… short, slender, beautiful, blonde and clumsy. Asher has these rules he lives by and one by one, Daniel has him breaking them all. The rude, crude and usually socially unacceptable Ash begins unknowingly readjusting his life to accommodate Daniel. Cuddling, kissing, dating… and shock of all shocks, he isn’t tying anyone up and inflicting sweet torturous pain on them.

It was an absolute pleasure to sit back and listen as Asher went on this journey of self-awareness he didn’t even know he was on. There was an almost constant monologue of Ash’s inner thoughts as his relationship with Daniel continually grew and evolved. But with the sweets, come the sours. About six months in, a small lack of communication causes a rift and Asher does something Daniel may not be able to forgive him for.

At first glance, you might think this is going to be either an insta-love story since Asher commands Daniel come home with him after only 48 hours of knowing one another, but it is far from. They fall into a comfortable existence, yes, but with each passing day they learn more about each other, grow closer and start to depend on each other.

The whole of this book really is the relationship between Ash and Daniel in great detail. I think my favorite aspect of this story was how Daniel had this kind of calming influence on Ash. A man can’t go from one extreme to the other overnight though, so there were understandably some speed bumps along the way.

The story was narrated by Ezekiel Robison and as I’ve said before, what he lacks in dialect, he makes up for with emotion. He had this big, loud, brash tone for Ash that was absolutely spot on. Daniel was never able to hide anything from Ash, even from the start; he is very much an open book. Robison was able to clearly express Daniel’s moods with differing tones and inflections.

I will say, Asher does something toward the end of the story. It’s a compilation of a bad week at work and that slight lack of communication I spoke of earlier combined with Ash’s jealous streak the size of Texas when it comes to Daniel. This is probably the worst mistake I have ever seen a fictional character that I liked make.

Up until this point, I had been so engrossed in this book that hours would fly by and it felt like 5 minutes. This really pulled me out of the story and had me thinking, what if that had gone the other way, and would Ash have put a stop to it? That is the only reason I knocked off a notch on my review. Sorry, I can’t say, that would be a spoiler.

Overall, this was such a fun read. I was so engaged from start to finish, riding along as Asher learned the meaning of the word Love.

Review: Fitting In is a scorching, sexy story. Mason meets two cops that are obviously in a relationship, but he can’t help but fantasize. One night his fantasy comes true when Mason and Jack how up and ‘arrest’ him. He enjoys his night knowing it will be the one and only having had bad experience being a third in a relationship. Will one night be enough for these three men?

This story is very well-narrated. Greg Boudreaux has a calm and relaxing voice. It is easy to follow the story the way he tells it. His inflections of Mason’s view are extremely well done and hot. Gray and Jack’s voices are also easy to discern from Mason. He makes the story fascinating and smoking hot.

Fitting In is so sexy that I don’t recommend listening to this in public without good earphones!

If you like bartenders, cops, threesomes, cop fetishes, and some sweltering man-sex, this is for you.

Gay for Pay

(An All Cocks Story 01)
by

T.M. Smith

Christopher Allan Roberts thought he had a promising future. Captain of the football team with the promise of a scholarship to play for Alabama. His high school sweetheart and best friend for as long as he could remember Amanda by his side, and the love and support of his family. One night, one mistake changed everything. Chris moves to New York, adrift and alone. A walk one night brings him to the flashing lights, loud music and thrumming bodies at club Berlin. A flyer in the men’s room promises fame and fortune for anyone willing to go on camera and have sex, with another man. Money is money, and how hard could it be, right?

Linc Larson is All Cocks most requested, most versatile model. The openly bi-sexual gay porn star will do anything with anyone, which pretty much writes his ticket in a versatility charged industry. Lincoln Carter is honest with everyone in his life, including his family, about who he is and about his sexual preferences. It’s not his sexuality that interferes with his personal life though; it’s his inability to trust.

What Linc wants right now, more than anything, is the chance to do a scene with All Cocks newest acquisition, Kris Alen. Six foot two with Auburn hair, an exquisitely toned body and enough ink on his skin to put Crayola out of business, Kris Alen is sex personified. Linc doesn’t know if it’s the “I want the shiny new toy” aspect that calls to him, or the distant and wounded expression that haunts Kris’s eyes. It becomes painfully clear soon enough that Kris is straight and only working the gay for pay angle that All Cocks brings to his bank account.

Can a bi-sexual man with trust issues break down the barriers that Christopher has built around himself and help Kris come to terms with the painful past he is hiding from.

Gay for Pay is a gay for you story about two men that will have to come to terms with the mistakes they made in their past if they want to stick around and have a chance at a future.

Review: Chris has lost a lot in his young life. He has no job, no prospects and the money he inherited from his grandfather is almost gone. He doesn’t want to crash on his best friend’s couch forever. He goes into club Berlin, meets Kolton and makes yet another gay friend.

While there he finds a flyer on the wall that advertises for gay porn models and states they take gay for pay models as well. Once he meets Victor, Andrew and several others at All Cocks, he decides to give it a try.

I loved this story when I read it and was eager to see how it would be on audio.

I loved it.

Tony Clark’s voice is smooth and sexy. Though he only changed his voice for two of the many characters, Victor and Linc, I don’t think it was quite necessary. He had a good enough way to the telling that it was clear who was speaking and when.

I listened to this in almost one sitting, his voice and the story had me mesmerized. The way he was able to make the sex scenes come alive was incredible.

I highly recommend you give this a listen! (Be sure to wear your headphones or earbuds if listening in public!

Review: Each book in Rescue for Hire collection features a different romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading or in this case listening the series in sequential order.

Treble is the one to watch out for. He is as mean as a snake and knows how to kill a man without making any marks. He is as deadly as can be, which is cute since he is also the shortest on the team. He was at one time a mercenary and knew how to kill. He also can sit back and just watch those around him. He seems to notice everything and everybody that is around him. Including the sexy pilot.

Damian has watched Treble watching him. He wants Treb but knows he has to go about it differently. He has to engage him and keep his attention, make him come to him for more. Damian catches his man, but realizes that there are a lot of people who want Treb to pay for who knows what.

I think out of all the guys and their partners at Rescue for Hire, Treb is my favorite one. He is a sweet man but very lethal. He is also straight and to the point type of guy. He is quirky as all get out also. When he is injured all it takes to keep him calm is to see Damian in front of him.

This story was well executed and gave me the perfect twists to make it even more enjoyable. I enjoyed the way the narrator made it flow off the pages and make it real for me. I truly enjoyed listening to this story. Of course I listened to it more than a dozen times and will continue to listen to it.

I would definitely recommend this audio book. Trust me it will keep you laughing, crying, and loving.

Blurb: When homicide detective Dexter J. Daley’s testimony helps send his partner away for murder, the consequences – and the media frenzy – aren’t far behind.

He soon finds himself sans boyfriend, sans friends, and, after an unpleasant encounter in a parking garage after the trial, he’s lucky he doesn’t find himself sans teeth. Dex fears he’ll get transferred from the Human Police Force’s Sixth Precinct, or worse, get dismissed. Instead, his adoptive father – a sergeant at the Therian-Human Intelligence Recon Defense Squadron otherwise known as the THIRDS – pulls a few strings, and Dex gets recruited as a Defense Agent.

Dex is determined to get his life back on track and eager to get started in his new job. But his first meeting with Team Leader Sloane Brodie, who also happens to be his new jaguar Therian partner, turns disastrous.

When the team is called to investigate the murders of three HumaniTherian activists, it soon becomes clear to Dex that getting his partner and the rest of the tightknit team to accept him will be a lot harder than catching the killer – and every bit as dangerous.

Review: I have always loved books from a young age, no matter where I went I had a book in my hand. As I got older I came across audible cd’s and picked up one figuring it would be great for the drive back and forth to work. Now those were m/f books and wasn’t as tuned into them as I should have been.

Then a couple of years ago I got into m/m romance stories and I was hooked. So much so that I would think about them at work. So I went online to find m/m romance on cd’s and came across audible stories that I could download to my iPod.

When I came across Charlie Cochet I knew I had found a series that I would love. So I downloaded this story and I have got to tell you that I probably listened to it four or five times this week alone. It not only gives you a story but the way it is told I hear Dex in my head even when I am sleeping.

Dex had just testified and sent his partner to prison for murder. Having really no options since the bosses were basically kicking him to the curb, not really they sent him to work for the Thirds. Thirds is also called Therian-Human Intelligence Recon Defense. Which in a way was a good thing, he would get to work with his adoptive father and brother.

Dex is a riot and will always have a spot in my heart. He always has a joke on hand and even when life is hard, he is always in a good mood. He had been worried about meeting his team after being told that they looked out for themselves. However he met his moody team leader and his partner, and was turned the hell on. He is the perfect man for this team though.

Sloan had not just lost his partner to a killer but also the man was his lover. He didn’t want to replace the man he loved, but was being forced to. His first meeting Dex was not on the best of terms, but he was determined to work through it. After all he had been warned that he needed a partner. After a while he noticed that Dex was helping not only him but his team. Now all he had to do is to find out who was killing the humans.

What caught my attention first was the cover of the book. It was beautifully made and had me wanting the man on the cover even more. Then there is the beautiful man telling the story. Mark Westfield has got to be one of the best story tellers I have ever heard. He managed to give Dex this cheerful tone while as giving Sloan a gruff superior voice. At the same time he made me see Ash as… well, an ass. He gave each guy a unique voice that you hear even when you are not listening to the story. He brought the guys to life for me and I was amazed with the way he did it.

I love how there was heat between Dex and Sloan although they were fighting it. These two are meant to be together. I loved the way the guys just seem to overcome their difficulties even though it is a fight for Sloan. Here he is a tough alpha shifter who has to lead his team while trying to get over the loss of his lover. You can feel the pain he was in and it was intense. I also loved the way the heat just keeps building between them, plus the attitudes of all of the team is just an added bonus for me.

As I have said I listened to this probably four or five times this week alone, and ran to grab the rest as soon as they were available. It has probably become one of my favorite all time stories and I will continue to listen to them while at work or on the go. It is not a short story so I get to spend most of the day listening to it.

Review: Detective Kurt O’Donnell is having a very bad week. First rainbowawards_hon_mention3he and his partner are blown up on their way to a scene, then Kurt wakes up in the hospital with the details of the event blurring in his mind. Out of the hospital and trying to heal both mentally and physically, Kurt attends his former partner’s funeral only to find out that after 3 years working side by side almost daily, putting his life in the hands of his partner, he didn’t know the man at all.

Davy spent 10 years under the thumb of a controlling lover. He wasn’t abusive per say, but he kept Davy hidden away all but ashamed to admit his sexuality, going as far as to urge Davy to cut all his friends out of his life. Still, Davy loved the man and mourns the loss when he is killed on the job. What’s odd and unnerving is when his dead lover’s partner on the force starts showing up unannounced with groceries, dinner and movies.

The two grow closer and more comfortable with each other with each passing day, both of them almost ashamed that they actually look forward to spending time together watching hockey games, eating dinner and drinking a few beers. When Kurt starts to explore the idea that his arrow may not be so straight, Davy pulls away and cuts off all contact. That is until Kurt is hurt during a drug bust and Davy rushes to his side, but is it too little too late?

This story was so engrossing that I didn’t even mind the angst. You really get to see Kurt and Davy meet, become friends, grow closer and slowly, excruciatingly almost, fall for each other. The elephant in the room, Kurt’s dead partner, Davy’s dead lover, threatens to suffocate the slow burning flame growing between them though.

I really felt like I was there, riding shotgun with these two, the depth of storytelling and engaging the reader with the plot and twists was that good. Tristan James narration only added to the appeal of the story. He is multi-vocal and holds an army of tones and accents in his arsenal. My favorite from him is always the Irish accent, it’s so perfect and he also has the ability to change each character, even if only a fraction, so you always know whose head you are in at the time.

If you like stories with action, suspense, intrigue and slow building love, then this is a must listen!

Review: What would you do if you knew your time here was about to expire? Jessie knows he won’t beat the cancer, so with his son Mike’s help.

He sets out to make sure the things he cares about most will be taken care of once he’s gone. He wants to make sure the diner is taken care of so he leaves it to Tanner, Mike’s best friend, and somewhat of an adopted son to Jessie. Making sure that his husband Steve doesn’t fade away to depression once he’s gone, well Tanner is key to that as well.

This is a super short story so the review will be as well. Let me just say if the fact that Cardeno C penned the story isn’t enough to make this one an auto buy, then the fact that Paul Morey narrates should make it a no brainer. Need more convincing?

Okay then. The story almost seems like insta-love in the beginning, but as the story unfolds you learn it is anything but. The feelings are mutual and a long time coming. Morey really translates each character from paper to audio well, I especially like the way he totally immerses himself into not just conveying the characters, but conveying the emotions.

Definitely a must listen, as I said it’s super short, super sexy and well worth the couple of hours to give it a listen.

Review: Pura Vida has a simple English translation but a far more profound meaning to the people of Costa Rica and anyone spending any amount of time in this majestic country. Pura Vida. Pronounced POO-rah VEE-dah, in English means, “Pure Life”.

Vacation is supposed to be a happy, relaxed time where you can forget your troubles and just enjoy the peace. But for Simon this vacation is racked with stress, worry and a nosey sister. He and his long-term boyfriend are taking a “break” for summer break.

Translation: boyfriend wants to be able to screw anything in a pair of pants and not feel guilty about it. Simon sits on the beach soaking up the sun and drinking margaritas while mentally lining up all the possibilities that surround him. The one that catches his attention turns out to be a local with a lot of character.

Juan sells bags, sunglasses and hats around town and down the beach by day. But at night he camps out at a local reserve for turtles. He watches the sea turtles; helps protect them and their eggs from poachers and find their way back to the sea. Simon is intrigued with what it is Juan does with the turtles, even more intrigued with Juan.

The two decide to “pass the time” together, both fully aware it is nothing more than that, until feelings grow and hearts get involved.
I really loved the message behind this story, Pura Vida. And I enjoyed the way the romance wove its way around the scenery of Costa Rica, helping to shape and mold both young men, especially Simon.

The sea turtles were an odd secondary character, but it worked so well in the storyline. Those turtles are what brought these two unlikely lovers together. There was a little bit of danger added to the mix, giving the story just a little bit of suspense. But overall it is a story about figuring out who you are and who you want to be, then making it happen.

Narrated by Joseph Northton who really brought Simon and Juan to life. Simon was sort of wistful and unsure and that really conveyed will the way he was voiced. Northton did a great job of bringing Juan to life with an authentic accent, especially the way he pronounced Simon’s name.

It was a fast, fun read that kept me entertained and engaged from start to finish. My first from this author and this narrator, but I’ll be looking for more from both.

Review: Life is a thread connecting us. One pull and it all unravels.

After being basically abandoned by his mother in his youth, Cole Gannon has always longed for a family. Together with his four roommates, he has finally found the family atmosphere and love he always wanted. Then tragedy strikes and threatens the foundation of Cole’s nuclear family. The one person that wants to be a shoulder for Cole to cry on, to lean on, is the one person Cole has spent the last several months pushing away.

Ian Stark has been enamored with Cole since the first day he saw him at a BBQ his intern Brandon invited him to. Brandon is Cole’s best friend and one of the four roommates. He is also slightly smitten with Ian. It’s this conflict of interest and Cole’s devotion to Brandon that stop him from acting on his mutual attraction to Ian. That is, until Brandon is hurt and the only person Cole can think of to find solace with is Ian.

As Cole and Ian grow closer, Cole’s little family drifts further apart. While Cole has always been the glue holding them all together, Brandon was the roots that kept Cole grounded. Without him, Cole is confused, lost and hurting. Cole is torn between two worlds he wants to merge that refuse to blend.

This was a dark and emotional story. There were a lot of tears and anguish, but there was also love, beauty and hope. The little bit of angst that dotted the story was not only necessary, it was well done. Cole is in pain and confused about the rift growing between him and the three remaining roommates.

How fucked up is it that life hands you the man you have always wanted, wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but demands such a hefty price in return. Ian is steadfast and loyal though, forever patient with Cole and his mood swings and random outbursts. The story was a series of ups and downs and learning that while life is brutal and demanding, there is beauty in hope and love.

Narrated by Paul Morey and I just loved the voice he gave these characters, he truly brought them to life. Ian is a high power attorney, sort of a no nonsense kind of guy, and Morey captured that with his gruff, no arguments tone of voice. Oh but when Cole was on one of his tangents, Ian became soft-spoken and tender and it made him that much more endearing. Cole was sort of flighty and a bit air headed, Morey gave him an easy-going lighthearted tone. When push came to shove and Cole got upset though, you could hear the anger and pain in his voice. Fantastic job on telling the story.

If you like slightly angsty but still adult stories with one of those hard-fought happy ever afters, then this is the perfect book for you. I can’t wait to start the next book, and I so hope that Mark and Thomas get a story at some point.

Review: Caleb is working his way through college by any means necessary. He is a good guy, smart, with attainable goals. He never factored in considering someone else’s feelings on how he made his money. When he meets Patton at the bar where he is a part-time bar tender, full-time, off the books, rent boy, there is a definite mutual attraction.

And when Caleb accepts an offer for a massage at the salon Patton works at, he starts to consider the possibility of something more for the first time in a long time. Then Patton makes an off the cuff remark and sinks the ship before it ever leaves the docks.

This has to be my favorite story and coupling in this series thus far. The story unfolds at the perfect pace, each piece of the puzzle being turned at the right time. The struggle Caleb faces was not only real, believable, it was painful. I loved the fact that he realized selling his body wasn’t the best line of work, but refused to be put down or looked down on because he pursued the only option he was given.

Patton pissed me off early on, but then Grace did a fantastic job of humbling him and showing how he struggled with his attraction to Caleb, equal only to his disdain of Caleb’s choice of profession.

Narrated by Tim Todd, and though it was my first listen with this narrator, it won’t be my last. He really captured the true voice for the characters. I could feel Caleb’s frustration and Patton’s indecision throughout the story. I thought it was poetic justice that Patton’s lying, cheating ex was read as a sniveling jackass, much like his character!

Emotional and engaging with a small dose of angst. Definitely a must read if you are a fan of Aria Grace and/or this series. Perhaps it will become your favorite as well.

I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table for the next couple in this series.

When Seth finds himself longing for what Eli had so easily offered, he has to decide whether he’s willing to veer from his safe life-plan to build a future with Eli.

Review: Eli Block has known who he is and who he wants since he was eleven years old. Six years later that person is not only back in his life, but in his living room. Too bad Seth doesn’t even remember young Eli. Not one to give up when he sets his mind to it, Eli pulls out all the stops in an effort to make Seth notice him.

Eventually Eli takes a step back and goes through the motions of living his life. He graduates, goes to college and gets his degree in Music and Teaching, has a series of boyfriends, but nothing or no one every truly replaces the longing he holds for Seth.

Seth Cohen has always kept Eli at arm’s length, always tried to convince himself that he is not gay. When Eli extends an olive branch, asking to be friends, Seth graciously accepts and the two become best friends. They talk about everything, and when the time comes, Eli helps Seth pick out his home.

As the years pass and Seth stands on the sideline watching Eli grow, make mistakes and try to learn from them, he also watches Eli become a man. A man who Seth is starting to think he wants to be more than just friends with.

I really adored Eli Block. He was tenacious, loyal and unwavering in his love for Seth. It took Seth a while to get on board, and early on I could completely understand why. Seth wasn’t in a place to openly admit or accept being attracted to another man, and there was the age difference.

But once Seth’s feelings started to change, it annoyed me that he went out of his way not to talk to Eli about it. I loved the chapter headers in this book, the comic relief with the various weddings and the shenanigans that people got up to. I think the fish graveyard reception was perhaps my favorite.

This is the first book narrated by Alexander Collins I’ve listened to and I wasn’t really impressed. At times I couldn’t tell who was talking, Seth or Eli, he chose such similar tones for the two main characters and that was confusing and frustrating. He seemed to put more effort into the secondary characters than Seth and Eli. I won’t say I wouldn’t listen to another book he voices, but I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to grab something of his either.

The story itself was pretty good, as I said, the sort of angst aspect with Seth figuring out his sexuality and keeping Eli in the dark bothered me, but overall I thought the writing and concept were great… the narration, not so much.
