Passion Punched King

(Balance 02)

Lisa Oliver

King Zagan, Commander of the legions of the damned and one of the higher echelon in the Underworld, never fancied a mate. Demons weren’t that way inclined. But when Botis met the Archangel Raziel and their relationship actually worked, Zagan was intrigued. Of course, it wasn’t as though he planned on claiming anyone, but tangling in the sheets with a forbidden angel was a vice he could and would enjoy. Or so he thought.

Anael has always considered himself the annoying younger brother of angels like Raziel. As the angel of love, passion and sexuality, he could see love connections that others couldn’t. When he saw his connection with Zagan he was so excited. Not only was he part of the big “Mating Scheme” devised by Head Office, but he snagged King Zagan, the secret crush he’s had for centuries. Now if only things could go right for them both.

A marriage proposal from Lady Zoltus is just the first sign of trouble for the new couple. When Lucifer sticks his nose in and detains Zagan in the Underworld, leaving Anael to roam earth alone, more secrets are uncovered. After a confrontation Anael starts to question if anything he does is right. Will these two ever find their HEA?

This book is a continuation of the Balance series although it focuses on a new couple. It advisable to have read book one, The Viper’s Heart (Raziel’s and Botis’s story) to gain a sense of context for this one. MM intimate experiences divulged in the pages. Suitable for adult readers only.

Review: Each book in the Balance collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Anael is the angel of love and passion. He is one sexy dancer at a club that needs to get shut down. He sees the threads of connection with everyone. So when he sees he is connected to the one demon he has always wanted, well he is overjoyed to say the least. That is until the demon runs from him after finding out. Way to shake a person up.

Zagan is an asshat. He is a demon king and enjoys playing around and kicking ass. So what is he supposed to do after finding out he is mated to an angel. Running like a scared rabbit might not have been the best thing. These two are going to need a bit of help.

There is something about the way that Lisa tells a story that will not only draw you in and keep your attention the whole time, but it will more than likely have you laughing your ass off at parts of it. The characters are beautifully written with big hearts, however if you cross them, they have no problem putting you down. They will protect their love ones with their entire lives.

I love the paranormal tone and the little bit of twists that come with it. Who knew that Lucifer would be such a blast, or have a friendship going on with an angel. Lets just say, he is the help they needed.

I had a blast reading this story. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It also gave me everything I could want in a book, although it did not flow as well as it should have. I don’t really know what the issue was I had with it, but I could tell that there was something bugging me about it. Other than my little issue with it, this is one hell of a story.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Blurb: Botis, demon lord and ruler of sixty legions is having a rough day. Lucifer set him on a quest to find the potion given to Gilgamesh thousands of years before, which should be easy enough. But being told a visit to the Angel Raziel was a necessary part of the mission wasn’t so easy to understand. Everyone knew that demons and angels didn’t mix, and angels were strictly off limits for his kind. Which was a shame because the moment Botis set eyes on the sexy Raziel his imagination ran into overdrive.

Raziel has a cruisy life. As the Angel of Secrets there aren’t many who darken his door with requests for finding strange artifacts any more, but he’s content. He has his shop, his taxi and his good friends, Anael and Uriel. Having Lucifer in his cab was the first sign things were about to change, but when Botis walks into his shop, Raziel starts to seriously reconsider his angelic abilities. No demon should be able to tempt him, so why was he affected by Botis’s sheer presence?

Soon enough, Raziel and Botis learn their meeting was no accident. With forces at work beyond their control, they have to learn to rely on each other if they are going to beat the odds stacked against them. But how is that possible when Raziel’s untouchable, and Botis doesn’t have a heart?

Review: This story can be read as a standalone, however I can guarantee that you will want to continue this series.

I have read almost every story that this author has put out, but I wasn’t too sure about this particular story at first. It is a very fresh and unique idea and I for one was glad to have had a chance to read it. It has a serious tone to it, but there is quite a bit of humor which was a nice surprise for me.

It would seem that the man in charge has decided that there needs to be a balance between hell and heaven. The humans were not calling on them as much as they use to so mating sounded good. Six to start but many to come later. Too bad no one warned them about it. Raziel was to find an ancient artifact for one of the demons, but neither had expected a set up. Heaven wanted Angel Raziel and the demon Botis to be mates. However there are some that see it as wrong and want to end it before it starts. The moment they see each other though, the sparks start to fly.

Now usually I am captivated from the start, but this story took just a little more time in getting into it. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but let’s just say it has ranked pretty high up in her books. I was fascinated by the way seem to start off with distance, but soon they were protecting each other from those who wanted to cause harm.

I can probably guarantee that this is going to pretty much dominate all of your other stories that you have read. It was a big hit with me and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book.
