Blurb: When Donnie met Will, it looked like the recipe for true love. But Happy Ever After took just a bit more work.

Donnie’s new romance with silver fox veterinarian Will looks like a real recipe for love. But first he has to deal with the problems of his job, his friends’ demands, and worries about Will’s privileged background. To say nothing of Donnie’s thwarted dreams of a catering career—and baking something that doesn’t come out a disaster.

Will is fascinated and entranced by Donnie. A mature, professional businessman, he’s far less confident in romance—and in the bedroom. Yet his eagerness to look after Donnie and show him a better life are misguided, and have a disastrous effect of their own.

Donnie is everyone’s friend. He’ll help anyone out. But who’s there to help him when he needs it?

Review: Zest is a spin-off/sequel to Claire London’s Easter holiday novella, The Accidental Baker. I strongly recommend that you read the novella before starting this one, because this romance follows a couple who started their story in that story. While this is longer than the novella that introduced us to the world of Donnie and Will, this is everything that I had hoped for in terms of getting a cute and sweet romance.

Donnie and Will are great characters. They are down to earth and totally relatable. This was the reason why I really liked them in The Accidental Baker and was more than happy to see that their story continued. I hope that the other couples from The Accidental Baker get the same treatment as Donnie and Will because I really enjoyed getting to know them better. While they got together easy enough in The Accident Baker they now need to work on their actual relationship to make it a proper HEA.

Will, who recently moved to town to take over the veterinarian clinic close to Donnie’s place, is enchanted by the younger man. But despite being described as a silver fox – and is everything that a gentleman should be – he struggles with allowing himself to feel the happiness that comes with intimacy. He’s not inexperienced, just unsure. Donnie is a guy with a heart of gold, the type that would give someone the shirt on his back if he had to. But he is very much the opposite to Will and so at first it seems like their romance is impossible. It all boils down to this, Will needs to find confidence in love and Donnie needs to find confidence in himself before it’s too late for them as a couple.

This is all about the sweetness, that it could turn anyone diabetic if it were food. I’m trying to think of other words than cute and sweet to describe this, and I think that gentle romance is also a fitting description.

I recommend this one to people that enjoy a light-hearted romance, low on angst and just makes your heart happy.

Review: The Accidental Baker is a super sweet Easter/Holiday novella by Claire London. This story was exactly what I’ve come to expect from London’s writing – a sweet romances, relatable characters and, in general, a fun read.

The story is really like an anthology of short stories, a bit of a mosaic created with eight different characters finding love on Easter through the action of one (albeit clumsy) person. I won’t go too far into things, because it would spoil the plot – I mean, at only 64 pages and eight characters getting their own little story, it’s easy to give out too much information. What I liked most about this story that each man was really down to earth, totally likable and therefore easy to relate to. The whole story kicks off with Donnie Watson, who can cook great food but is a bit of a klutz and totally sucks at the presentation of the food. He’s a lonely guy with a big heart and deserves all the love in the world. He’s made some Easter treats for the local community centre, but an accident with the trays on the street allows eight men, four couples and including himself, find an unexpected spark of love with newbie to the area, Will.

What I love most about these characters, other than being so down to earth, is they are all so different and individual. They run a whole spectrum from being a man who is homeless, to some interesting career choices like a veterinarian, to bakers and a bar owner. They all have different circumstances and issues, along with easily differentiated personalities from each other. So much so, that I had a chance to be the slightest bit annoyed at one character, Henry, but only for a bit because of when we first encounter him with Donnie. However, I felt that Henry’s own little story redeems him in a way that made me think “we all have our off days”.

This is great for anyone who is a sucker for the simple, cute romances that come out for holidays. It’s a quick read with a satisfying end.

Blurb: Trust is the most precious jewel of all.

When Mayfair jewelers Starsmith Stones wins the commission for a gay royal wedding, CEO Joel Sterling is recommended to the brilliant young designer Matt Barth—only to discover Matt’s the man with whom he shared an anonymous and passionate kiss on the celebration night.

Disenchanted with the commercial jewelry industry, Matt nowadays prefers muddy archaeological digs to designing. Openly resentful of Starsmith’s hostile takeover of his family’s firm, he is horrified at the realization he’ll be working with the man who engineered that deal—but the opportunity to create something fabulous and unique for the royal couple is too tempting to refuse.

Working as a team reignites the spark between Joel and Matt. But when betrayal from within Starsmith threatens both the project and Joel’s confidence, will they have built enough trust to keep their newfound love as precious as the royal jewels?

Review: Romancing the Rough Diamond is the fourth book in Claire London’s Romancing The… series. It is not necessary to have read the two previous books; this is a standalone book and the couple are totally unrelated to the other. The only real link between them is being set in England/United Kingdom and these are people that are in the upper crust of society – businessmen, celebrities, social darlings, old money, that kind of thing. This series has been released as part of the Dreamspun Desires, and this book is everything that I love getting my hands books released in this house line. It’s sweet, sexy, full of big drama (sometimes bordering melodrama) and equally big personalities.

There’s a royal wedding about to take place and this one is a bit different because it will be the first same sex royal wedding. The hype is big and the competition to win the rights to be the jeweller for said royal wedding is a big deal. So much so, when CEO of Starsmith Jewellers, Joel Sterling, found out that his firm had won the commission, he locked lips with a stranger. Not thinking about that little episode further, Joel is intent on making this the most perfect pieces that his people have created. And with the importance of such a commission, everything is to be kept under lock and key to keep the project top secret. Now he needs to recruit a designer for the project, and is strongly recommended to approach designer Matt Barth. It just so happens that Matt is the man Joel kissed and the man who is the son of a company that Starsmith took over.

Matt is a complicated and stubborn man. His is brilliant, proud and passionate about his work, which is mostly doing archaeological digs on some of his family’s land. He’s a man who hasn’t done a lot of commercial designs but is a designer that is raved about in many jewellery design circles in England and Europe. Yet, with his family’s successful jewellery firm sold off, Matt doesn’t want to be involved with the man he perceives as his enemy.

Matt and Joel are so different and yet at the same time they are both so similar. It is their similarities that draw them together and their differences that make them perfect for each other. They have excellent chemistry. They are also very passionate men, which makes some of the drama about the designs and their relationship so much fun.

As a side note, because it tickled me so much. For someone who had watched so much Time Team and in a Time Team fan group on Facebook, the talk of archaeology on the family farm had me thinking of Tony and Phil et al., I had to laugh though when London also made reference to the TV show.

If you’ve liked anything from Dreamspun Desires or if you’ve enjoyed Romancing the Wrong Twin, Romancing the Ugly Duckling and Romancing the Undercover Millionaire you’ll definitely like this book. I recommend this this to those that love the opulence of upper society (i.e. me and my love of aristocratic-type romances) mixed with business and artistry. I would quite label it an enemies to lovers type of book, but for those that do like that in a book, I think this could be the book for you too.

Review: Romancing the Undercover Millionaire is the third book in Clare London’s Romancing The… series. I really like Clare London’s writing and this book, in fact the series, has not been an exception. All the books in the series are standalone, with no linking characters, so there’s no need to worry if you’ve not read the previous books. This series is really just sweet romances between men of completely different walks of life. This book is for the people that love the sweet romances, where Prince Charming comes in and saves the day.

The narration by Seb Yarick is quite good too, although the accents didn’t seem right throughout the book being that none of these are my native accents after a while it didn’t bother me at all. Instead the strength in his tone used for the millionaire in the book, Alexandre Bonfils, is perfect. Alex is something of an entitled guy who learns about what it’s like to be a person without the privilege and trappings that comes with absurd wealth. He also nails a great, soft spoken tone for the other MC, Tate.

With Alex being a millionaire, the ne’er do well son of the head of major international company, Tate really is his exact opposite, he’s the son of a factory worker who has become the warehouse manager for the Bonfils’ company. For Alex, after a show down with his father, Alex decides (with a bit of help) to show his family that he isn’t useless. But to do that he goes undercover in the company warehouse to track down some suspicious “accidents” that keep happening as the company approaches the release of a new wine that could win them one of the most prestigious awards in Europe. This is how he meets Tate, the warehouse manager. Tate has a few niggling feelings about Alex (who is definitely not going by the name Bonfils and has now dyed his blonde hair black). As they get to know each other, the suspicious activity begins to increase. Tate rejects his concerns over Alex when Alex is injured. When Tate insists on inviting Alex to stay with his family, the two men become closer and suddenly for Alex everything becomes more and more complicated when feelings become involved. However, all that Alex wants to do is figure what the hell is going on and who is trying to sabotage his family’s company.

Review: Karel is not looking for a relationship but damn if he doesn’t get one. Not with one man but two. One night of hot sex and well you get the idea. And what an idea it is. He just has the normal will I fit into a already made relationship. I have only came across one book in the large amount that I have that make the threesome work. One that makes it seem that they each need the other. The heart, the soul and the glue that keeps them together is a bit what you get.

I have read a several books with threesomes in them and only a handfull actually make the story enjoyable. This story didn’t catch my attention like it should have, in fact after the first page I was ready to give it up. However once the story starts to unfold it actually gets a bit better. The guys are quite enjoyable and easy to follow in love with. It is about their love for each other and going further then what they are use to or comfortable with. It is a well written story that is engaging and compelling to a reader. It flows evenly and at the right pace to keep your attention captured. The characters come off as someone you would hang out with.

However Leroy and Griff come off whiny and very needy. It might be fine in parts but in this book it seemed a bit to much. Then Karel feels like he is their parent but you can still see the love for each other. There was the passion between the three and the heat burning. I just couldn’t connect with the story like I should have though. It was missing something that would have made it quite a bit better for me.

I will admit that this is not one of those stories that will be read more than once though. It is a good read and the characters are hot and steamy. It is one of those stories that seem like it could be real in life instead of a book. Overall the story was pretty good and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it.

Review: Clare London is not unfamiliar author to me – I’ve read a few of her books in the past, although 72 Hours is the first audio book I’ve heard from the same author. However, I will say from the outset that this book for me was not as enjoyable as other books. Yet, I will also say that the narration by Michael Pauley really did add to the book in a way that kept me going. This is the first time I’ve heard Pauley’s narration (that I can think of anyway) and I really enjoyed his tone and inflection throughout the story.

As for the book itself, Tanner and Niall work for some sort of shady, MI6 type of agency and they are currently in all sorts of trouble. Their affair ended in a mess when their personal life spilled over into a mission that they were working together and left their reputations in tatters. Tanner decided that it was best to all but fall off the face of the earth, while Niall continued. When the agency is compromised, and Niall is need of a safe house, it is Tanner who is meant to be the knight in shining armour.

While I found the book enjoyable and the story well-paced for the most part, I know that there were a couple things that really detracted from my enjoyment of the story. For the most part these guys took miscommunication and childish antics to a level that makes me wonder how the hell these guys made it as secret agents and successfully pulled off missions before they got together. One thing that

I thought was pulled off well was the writing from Tanner’s POV – because despite my earlier criticism it was great to see him grow by the end of the book, because let’s face it he was a bit whiny at the start of the book. I will admit, I really liked their chemistry and it really worked. Unfortunately, though, for me there was a lot of unnecessary drama and a predictable villain that detracted from the storyline, which overall was really fun.

by

Clare London

This collection includes Clare London’s first two charming London-based novellas of the With A Kick series – A Twist and Two Balls, and Slap and Tickle. Also included are two short stories featuring the characters in these books.

WITH A KICK

A new and enticing ice cream franchise, with a unique blend of full flavour, mischief and romance. Patrick and Lee are struggling to make a success of their alcoholic ice cream shop in the centre of tourist London. At the same time, their business partnership may take a turn towards the personal – if either of them can find the time and nerve to go for it! Meanwhile, they cater to the wild and wonderful range of customers in the area, many of whom have their own romantic agenda. Will ice cream be the final ingredient they’re all looking for?

Each story is a self-contained romance, but will follow the history of the shop throughout.

A TWIST AND TWO BALLS

Eduardo Mancini is going to be a star of the London stage. Unfortunately, his alter ego Eddy March hasn’t got further than a bit part in a TV series. One ghastly day, he’s late for an audition, can’t pay his taxi fare, and is chased across Soho by the irate driver, Nuri. But maybe being caught by Nuri is exactly what Eddy needs.

SLAP AND TICKLE

Bryan is an accountant who admires order and self-discipline. When he literally bumps into Phiz outside With A Kick, Phiz’s lifestyle and behaviour appear totally chaotic. But they each recognise something in the other that they need. Bryan needs a lover who welcomes his secret desire, and Phiz needs a firm hand–in every way. They both agree that Bryan may be just the man to provide it.

About Clare!

Clare London took her pen name from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home, she juggles her writing with her other day job as an accountant.

She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with award-winning novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic, and sexy characters.
Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter-three stage and plenty of other projects in mind… she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home.

Clare loves to hear from readers, and you can contact her on all her social media.

Blurb: Is this the makeover of a lifetime?

Ambitious fashionista Perry Goodwood lands the project of his dreams – track down a celebrity family’s missing brother in the Scottish Highlands and bring him back to London for a TV reality show. But first he must transform the rugged loner into a glamorous sophisticate.

Greg Ventura has no use for high fashion. He lives on the isolated island of North Uist to escape the reminder that he’s nowhere near as handsome as his gorgeous brothers and to avoid the painful childhood memories of being bullied.

Greg wants nothing to do with city life, and Perry’s never been outside London. When Perry is stranded on North Uist, this conflict seems insurmountable. But Greg is captivated by the vivacious Perry, and Perry by both the island and his host. However, Perry’s one heartfelt wish remains: that ugly duckling Greg fulfill his potential as a swan.

Review: There is a lot for me to love with this book. Firstly, I love the author – I love the sweet English romances by Clare London. I suppose to sum up her writing in a word would be “enchanting”. I loved the first book in this series and that is absolutely true of the second book. Secondly, I love reading about someone meeting their true love and finally seeing themselves in the beautiful light that their love interest sees them. I find that truly uplifting, to see self esteem grow over the course of a book, because hey, I can be sappy. And thirdly, the audio book to me was the sheer enjoyment of listening to Joel Leslie, I’m pretty sure for the first time, and loving every moment of the hustle and bustle of England and the calm solitude of the Scottish Highlands (and yes, I am an Outlander fan and have been for a decade, I blame that!).

Greg Ventura is the guy who left the hustle and bustle of the city to live in an island in the Scottish Highlands. He comes from a family and famous, ridiculously good looking and ridiculously talented brothers. He’s the Ugly Duckling. He doesn’t think that he is as good looking as his brothers – mostly because his brothers instilled this thought into his mind. But now his brothers are calling on him again. They need him to be part of a reality TV show and look like a happy family.

That’s how Greg meets Perry (Peregrine) Goodwood. Perry is an ambitious about his career as a designer/fashionista. It’s hard to explain his career except that he is the guy that does the fashion makeovers. He’s been hired by Greg’s brothers to find Greg, make him over and get him to London to his family. The problem is that Perry gets more than he bargained for when he discovers the gentle, carefree soul that is Grey Ventura – very much unlike his brothers. On top of all that, he needs to be in London because he needs his job desperately, as mistakes from his past threaten to keep him in debt for longer than he can handle.

I love the story and the whirlwind Scottish romance. It is as simple as that. It appeals to that side of me that loves everything about British dramas and the Scottish Highlands (even with all his rain and cold).

Blurb: Frankie Faraday is a promising young salesperson at Mason’s Emporium. Bill Mason is his boss, the son of the store’s founder, and the object of Frankie’s long-suffering, deeply devoted crush. Bill is steady and sober; Frankie is frivolous and flaky. Or so they seem to each other, until the night of the annual inventory, when they’re trapped together in the Seasonal Gifts storeroom, with nothing but candy and peppermint schnapps to sustain them until they’re rescued. And then the real truths—and something definitely more intimate—emerge!

Review: Frankie works his ass off at Mason’s Emporium and day dreams about his boss. He just hadn’t dreamed that he would accidentally lock them both in a store room at work. Sounds kind of fun to me. These two are more different then one would expect, but they also show how much they are alike.

This one was a blast to read and the characters rocked it. It has a lot of humor in it which is a major plus to me. At first I wasn’t to sure about Bill, but he changes my mind real quick. I loved Frankie, he is just so quirky and true. It was a cute little story for Christmas that had a lot of details and depth to it.

I enjoyed it quite a bit and would guarantee that you will too.

The most ill-matched couple you could ever imagine are thrown together when they exchange flat-sitting—and turn each other’s lives upside down. A reserved young man struggles with a secret affair until he dares to take the adventurous step of making his heart’s wish public. One mischievous night on a shopping mall security camera brings an astonishing blind date for a bored student. A frustrating delay in an airport lounge—with only two precocious children for company—drives a young man to confess he’s in love with his best friend.

It celebrates the diversity and delight of lovers against the backdrop of London’s vibrant and lively city—young “London lads” whose love, determination, and sense of adventure are strong enough to find the way to a partner’s heart.

Blurb: Garry’s at the end of his tether. He’s waiting at Glasgow Airport to meet his friend Will, on their way to a holiday in a Scottish Highlands hotel. Now there’s a ten-hour delay to incoming flights, the seat in the lounge is more like an instrument of torture, and he’s beyond tired of airport food.

He’s also dreading having to apologise for the pass he recently made at Will, his colleague at a London bank, under the influence of too many beers and a long-held crush. Now Will’s been offered a new job offer on a continent thousands of miles away, Garry realises it may be the end of their close friendship—let alone anything more.

To add to Garry’s stress, he’s treated to the company of Emily and Max, two young people who think he needs educating in the ways of the world. Struggling with their well-meaning help and the startling mess from spilled ketchup and noxious-smelling sweets, he’s encouraged to re-examine how he feels about Will and to decide what kind of journey he’d really like them to take together.

Review: Each book in the London Lads collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.

Garry and Will have been friends for quite sometime, but Garry wants more. He is about to get the help of two darling angels, he never expected. I would love to go on about this story, but guess you should read it. Don’t want to give to much of it away.

It is a very sweet little love story that will brighten your day. I just wished it had not been so short, because I would have loved to see Garry’s expression at the end. It was funny as hell and entertained me quite a bit. I would definitely recommend this book. It is perfect for a short little break in life.
