Blurb: Detective Zach Johnson never resented his lack of magic, although he hated that as a mundane he had no power to stop a corrupt Talent council from stealing the resources of the magical community. However, the return of the ancient ifrit guides led a blood-thirsty hummingbird to choose him as a partner. Now he can be a true equal to his shaman lover, Art Lammas, and the two of them can take on the council and the entire community if need be.

Art Lammas loves Zach’s enthusiasm and sense of justice, but the Talent community is much more complex than he assumes. Not only does El Paso struggle under the corrupt leadership of the council, but it stands at a place where three different traditions clash: the Vatican-trained shamans from Mexico, the Egyptian-trained shamans of mainstream America, and the Native Peoples traditions, which are far more complex than Art can possibly describe. Art would far rather focus on solving their cases. More than that, Art fears that Talent might be the one force in the universe that could drive a wedge between them. Art would happily burn all the magic out of the world before allowing that to happen, but he may not have that choice.

Review: I adored Zach and Art in this story. They have a solid relationship with the other as they work their cases. I loved how well they worked together and how the story evolved. The continuation of the series was apparent as struggles over power and the many different shamans are prevalent in this continuation.

There is not a lot of action in the story it’s more an explanation of different things that overall add to the series as a whole in the understanding of things happening. Art tries his best to stay out of the magical situations when they pop up.

I simply loved this addition to the series. I am looking forward to the next installment where we will hopefully find out who the evil ifrit is.

Great read.

Review: I loved this new couple. Don’t get me wrong I loved Kavon and Darren but at the same time I was getting bored reading about only them as the mc’s so this was refreshing.

Angel, an ex con is recruited by Darren and Rima to be an informant. His task, to infiltrate the Luschesces mafia group that recruits the talented and if they refuse, kill them. This is where he meets Matteo, the mob boss’ son.

I really enjoyed watching these two men traverse in a dangerous world they are in. Some scenes are cring worthy as Angel adjusts to his magic and is tested in his new abilities by the mob. Matt for his part is nothing like his father which I found refreshing.

All in all it was a wonderful start to new characters and new aspects.

Review: Tanks life takes a turn when he is thrust into a secret alien base. Not one who is new to the strange Tank learns that everything he thought he knew was wrong. I liked the story. It has all sorts of twists and turns that delve further into the aliens and what they are up to.

The aliens themselves are not that different from humans. You have your good ones and bad ones. The slave ships were horrifying for the humans they had captured. These things were mentioned but not in deep detail.

Overall I found the characters in the story complex at times yet intriguing. They all added to the story in some way or another. The biggest shock was about Tank himself. But, I won’t spoil what all happens for the readers. Needless to say it was an adventurous, action packed, and mysterious story that captures your imagination and attention from the start.

Good read.

Review: Kavon and Darren are adjusting to their new lives as a couple with all that entails. They are not without their struggles as is with all pairs. Amid this is their continuing investigations of cases that are not closed yet.

There was a lot going on in this story. I liked the explanations regarding the magical world as it gave me a better understanding. Some answers from the first two books are given as well.

Yet I felt like the book was incomplete at the end. There were still questions left unanswered as well as some new characters thrown into the mix that left me feeling like maybe there will be another book in the future.

Aside from this it was still a great read with plenty of mystery for all. Great read.

Blurb: Darren and Kavon have committed to each other, but magical rules are changing and that tests the strength of their bond. The death of a prominent Egyptian shaman and the shadowy remains of O’Brien’s conspiracy to kill adepts and steal their magic also pressure the new couple. Kavon is determined to protect his partner through these storms, but he is also painfully aware of his own tendency to hover. And as Darren is quick to point out, he is an armed federal agent who won’t allow Kavon to keep him off the front lines.

Making the relationship even more difficult, the spirit guides who offered their loyalty have their own hopes and needs. The world is changing, and Darren’s spirit guide pushes them to find the right path to navigate. However, Kavon has never enjoyed being pressured, and he is particularly uncomfortable walking into a situation he doesn’t understand. Worse, the longer he knows Darren and his guide, the more confused Kavon becomes about how magic even works. Review: While I enjoyed the deepening relationship between Darren and Kavon my main focus was on the spirit guides. I found them fascinating and intriguing.

At times the ifrits seem to turn the story dark with their unique abilities. The change in dynamics for Kavon was amazing. I loved how he tried to understand what was going on and go with the flow. Darren seemed to grow as he grew accustomed to his new powers.

The overall feel of the book was a great story with magical and dramatic elements that made for a nice addition to the series. Looking forward to reading the third book and what happens next.

Review: Darren is a mundane with no magical capabilities, until they start manifesting, that serves as a go between for his unit. Kavon, Darrens boss, shoots down Darrens advances because of the shamans ability to drain the life from humans. There is a lot of drama when a new guy is entered into the mix.

I loved all the explanations of the magical sense. Although at times I felt bogged down by it I still felt grateful. It was a magical story about cops, animal spirits and the beginning of a relationship though the relationship aspect really does not go far until the end.

The mystery was intriguing and the investigation in depth. I was enthralled in the case and the way it unfolded. I am looking forward to seeing what else happens in the next book.

Blurb: Alex hid his unnatural attraction to men for many years. That changes when the pirate Beche takes Alex after capturing his ship. At first Alex believes his fate is death and the only question a matter of how he might die. However, the longer he is on the ship, the more he realizes that Beche hates the world because it is unfair in ways Alex never understood. As Alex begins to respect this strong, independent man, Alex’s dormant desires begin to reassert themselves.

Beche hates the titled classes and their government enforcers. They might have outlawed slavery on paper, but they never came to the islands to free him or his family. Since his skin is black, society has little respect for him. Beche expects no more of this latest captive, but soon Beche begins to realize that Alex is a naïve and beautiful man who values family and struggles with his own place in society.

That poses an even larger problem because Beche does not want to send Alex back to a world that will mistreat him, but he has no place for a lord on a ship full of pirates.

Review: Young Alex is a lord by default after his father and older brother have both passed. He takes his honor and duties to his family very seriously regardless, his priority being the care and safety of his two sisters. When their cargo keeps getting stolen by Pirates, Alex decides to sail with the next shipment to ensure it arrives at port safely. But a traitor amongst his men has betrayed him.

Beche is a ruthless Pirate captain that governs his men with an iron fist and strict code of conduct. He cannot stand the rich and powerful government or the way society still treats men of color, men like him. Beche boards a ship full of tobacco thinking it will be an easy steal, but what he finds is a brash, resilient young Lordling that is as beautiful as he is stubborn and defiant.

Beche takes Alex under his wing, partly for protection from his own men that would just as soon kill the lord as look at him, and partly because he is infatuated and confused by the man. An odd friendship of sorts begins to slowly build between the two strangers.

Alex has been told his attraction to the same-sex is wrong. It is evil, even sent off to a doctor that supposedly cured him of his wicked thoughts. Beche has no time or patience for young, spoiled lords. But he is not only drawn to Alex’s innocence and beauty, he admires the man’s strength of character and his refusal to be tamed.

When Beche is captured during a raid gone badly, Alex has the chance to finally escape the pirate and the ship, to go home with his sisters where he belongs. The problem is, he doesn’t feel like he belongs there anymore, and he refuses to leave Beche to be hanged. Can Alex and Beche’s crew of madcap misfits pull off a jail break? Or will Alex get himself killed trying to rescue his captor?

This is definitely a dialogue driven story with a Pirate, Steampunk era backdrop. For those of you that aren’t familiar, Steampunk is the love child of the Victorian and Dystopian styles of writing. I loved the little inventions that Alex’s sisters created throughout the story. How those two women, who were expected to stay home and mind the mansion, could run circles around the men that surrounded them. Alex’s pet spider was quite possibly my favorite. And then the way the little thing had a limp when repaired, like a pirate, it just fit perfectly into the story.

The writing was articulate, descriptive and well versed. The characters were three-dimensional, perfectly flawed and gave each other a sort of balance. While Alex was violated as a youth because of his attraction to men, by a learned doctor no less, he still carries those feelings inside. He and Beche are like day and night, polar opposites both physically and emotionally. But from the start they fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. And I absolutely loved how the author wrote that aspect of the story describing the longing of a person’s soul not always matching the wrapping.

There were a couple of times where the dialogue dragged on too much for my liking and it weighed down the story a little. And then the author’s absolute refusal to use the words cock or dick when describing the male parts, it was maddening. This was very much an adult story, but the way the sexual encounters were versed, it read like a YA book. That being said, I still really liked this book. The author’s ability to weave the multiple events, characters and stories into one storyline was both engrossing and intriguing.

Definitely recommend this one to anyone that likes the genre.

Review: This story is the 2nd edition and there are no noticeable changes from the 1st edition. This is not your typical M/M Romance. It is more Science Fiction which, I must admit, the M/M genre is still sadly lacking in at the moment.

Temar Grazer is a landowner but that doesn’t stop his sister from telling him what to do. As a result he and his sister Cyla are sentenced to slavery after her plan to prove a neighbor is stealing their precious water went disastrously wrong. In the process Temar finds out the truth as to who stole the water, and that’s when his troubles really begin.

Shan Polli is a priest who is a council member and even though he fought against it, is one of those responsible for Temar’s sentence. When he goes to check on Temar it leads him and eventually Temar to a race to save their own lives and that of the entire planet.

This is a great story that has a lot of meat to it. Shan has always felt a faint attraction to Temar but as a priest it’s off-limits for him to have a relationship. Temar always wanted to be a glass maker but has had to work the land; these two are forced together by circumstance and must rely on each other. Some parts in this book may offend people as there is evidence of physical and sexual abuse and references to child abuse.

We are introduced to a world that has been abandoned by the rest of humanity, the workers and families on this world have had to survive by sheer determination and with a strict society, everyone pulls their weight and those that fall foul of the law pay off their crime with a form of slavery or if the offense is really severe a walk in the desert that they won’t survive.

The storyline for this book doesn’t only weed out the bad apples in society and their dark secrets; it also reveals greedy landowners who are planning a betrayal so deep that it could mean the death of the entire planet.

The emotions in this story are incredible, the descriptions brilliant and the story is rock solid. As I said, this is more Science Fiction than romance. The romance is near the end when Shan and Temar decide they will try to make a go of it. There are no sex scenes for our main characters or even kisses, this is a bond that has been forged through danger and Temar needs that more than sex.

So I recommend this to any sci-fi fans who love the m/m aspect and a brilliant story line.

Blurb: Dylan Carter has always played second fiddle to his perfect older brother, but now that brother is implicated in a terrible crime, and Dylan’s family is imploding. Dylan can’t hide anymore. Knowing he’s falling apart, he searches for something or someone to hold him together—and lands in a BDSM bar called the Stonewall.

Dylan doesn’t understand Miss Dolphinia, the hard-drinking queen who seems determined to play matchmaker. But more confusing is the way the powerful men in leather make him feel. In her wisdom, Miss Dolphinia sends Dylan off to a back room for his introduction to the world of erotic spankings and bondage.

Dylan’s teacher—for want of a better word—is the very dominant Vin Hauser. Vin likes to play hard, but he’s honest with himself—he knows all those men want is a strong hand, not a long-term relationship. Yet Vin can’t help but hope Dylan might be different.

Review: What an excellent read Ms. Gala provided yet again. I loved this book and dear Lord, I got so lost in this, and I’m having difficulty coping with reality at the moment. And it is so satisfying reading a novel that leaves you sated, not lacking or needing more. This book will take you into another world, an old one I might add, with dark cravings, kinks and even things most people would call perversions, yet the clarity of this world is so brilliant, so balanced that I would find it hard to believe someone might actually feel the same after reading it.

This is Dylan’s story. And amazing character that made even me want to take him under my care. Dylan is a young man of 19 years old. He is the baby of the family with an older sister and brother. He’s always been abused by his brother and his sadistic antics, but Dylan truly believes that was just brotherly games, and cruel jokes meaning no harm. Until his brother is arrested for torturing and raping three young women that is. Dylan is seriously shaken by this, his world slipping away from his hands and nothing to anchor him. In addition his mind keeps replaying the pictures of bondage tools and whips that were found in his brother’s house. The deep, dark craving consuming him makes no sense and in a last attempt to find answers Dylan finds himself at the Stonewall, a club famous for its leather men…

Like a small bleeding fish in the middle of a tank full of sharks Dylan is surrounded by powerful men who want to show him their world. In the midst of his confusion and his inability to recover from the overwhelming feelings Dylan meets Vin and his first introduction to bondage and spanking takes his breath away. Vin is perfect, and although he is a complete stranger Dylan can’t stop from trusting him his sanity.

However Vin is dealing with his own insecurities and love is not something he is after. He never hooks up twice with someone either in order to avoid getting attached. But as hard to get he plays even stubborn Vin can’t help himself faced with wide-eyed Dylan, his beauty and his innocence. The trap is set and Vin has to accept that he’s in for a long ride with the most perfect sub he’s laid eyes upon.

In between Vin’s obsessions and possessiveness, and Dylan’s struggle to face and confront his life the two men fight together to keep what they both value most than anything, each other.

Well, the above is just a small summary of what you are about to read and I might add it’s only a poor glimpse of the beginning of this story. You will read a novel that will blow your mind away with its vivid scenes, its intense and palpable feelings, a full plot that is heartbreaking and skin-crawling with the presentation of a naked truth that doesn’t shy away from its brutality and perversion.

You will love Dylan and his vulnerable soul; you will adore and worship Vin and his gorgeous, commanding personality. You will absolutely die for Miss Dolphinia and her incredible ways. You will hate some characters with a passion and feel you heart shatter for others. In the end you will close this book and give a small sigh feeling content and completely sated.

In my opinion this book is a must read not only for the fans of the genre, but mostly for everyone else as it is a beautiful take on this very peculiar world.

Blurb: Liam loves his life as a linguist and trader on the Rownt homeworld, but he has ignored his heart and sexual needs for years. Ondry may not understand humans, but he recognizes a wounded soul, and his need to protect Liam is quickly outpacing his common sense. Review: This book brought such a smile on my face my cheeks still hurt. What a beautiful world Ms. Gala created here, how very fascinating. This story is located on Prarownt, the planet of a reptile-like species called Rownt. Rownt are traders at core, everything in their life is seen in pure logic and calculation in order to gain outmost profit. Their entire take on life, their beliefs and life structure is often not even conceived by human logic.

Liam job is to trade with the Rownt and learn as much as possible from them, about them. He loves his job, he adores this planet, but unfortunately his new Commanding Officer is threatening his life here. His CO’s abuse is taking its toll on him and affecting his trading. Rownt trader Ondry, one of Liam’s favorite, notices his discomfort and changes his entire attitude toward Liam. In his five years on the planet, Liam has never seen such display, never has a Rownt came too close to him and never, ever has one attempted to touch him. Confused he might have somehow unintentionally insulted Ondry, Liam’s control is fast slipping from his hands. His CO’s public confrontation and insults does nothing to help the situation and suddenly Liam find himself in the inexplicable position of being chained in Ondry’s bed.

Confusion, panic, fear and hurt claim Liam’s mind. While the Rownt tries to explain to him that Liam’s new status is to be his palteia, a new term that gives him no explanation at all, Liam only finds his mind drifting to darker places of his past. Back when he was used, abused and shattered to pieces. Burying his sexuality for years this new situation not only awakens him, but it terrifies him. His longing for a strong man who will provide safety and love and his inability to let go and trust has him nearly torn in half. The fact that human and Rownt concepts are so very different do not help at all and Ondry has to find a way to get in his mind and make Liam see life through his eyes. If only Liam would give up and trust him his sanity.

And I am not doing a good job in my attempt to tell you what this story is about. How could I, this book approach so many things. Perhaps if I were to tell you that this books focus is more toward the relationship and feelings aspects than the sexual one. After all, Rownt and Human biology are not compatible. Rownt are a species that do not use sexual intercourse for pleasure, nor intimacy. They do not display such behavior and only use sex to reproduce, the very act being somehow brutal in human eyes.

This book focuses more into D/s relationships, on how a Dom and a sub react, what they expect and what they give, seen from different perspectives. The Rownt logic that sees things human would call brute as normal and vice versa. How one’s status is scorned from some societies and adored from others. How the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so to speak.

For me this was a lovely read. A great Science Fiction with a wonderful take on BDSM and especially on D/s. I totally loved it, it was brilliant and I strongly recommend it.

This is an incredible sequel to the brilliant Desert World Allegiances and I have got to say, a huge well done to Lyn Gala, for bringing this incredible world back to us. Shan wants to further his relationship with Temar, but doesn’t want to push Temar after what he went through at the hands of Ben.  Temar takes things into his own hands, when he thinks that Shan is pulling away and confronts him. When Shan and Temar make contact, they have to do what is best for their world and make others realize that they won’t lie down without a fight.

Shan and Temar are just as we remember them and haven’t changed a bit.  Although, as the book progresses, Temar steps forward and takes on the role of leader when he has to, he also realizes that how he feels is normal and can finally see things from others peoples point of view. Shan discovers just how strong Temar is and what Temar will do for him, and they both discover this while trying to protect their planet from outside forces.

As Shan and Temar progress in their relationship it is a thing of beauty.   The love and trust that they have for each other is pure.  Their lovemaking is heartfelt and touching and their determination to protect their world is rock solid. The supporting characters are brilliant and I can honestly say that I could find no fault with this book… I loved it. A true science-fiction story which is rock solid and I am looking forward to Desert World Immigrant with great anticipation.

I have to recommend this book to those who love science fiction, a wonderfully written story, beautiful love-making, solid characters and… you know I think everyone should read this as if you don’t then you are missing out on a great story.

Blurb:  Being condemned to slavery is a common enough occurrence on the desert planet of Livre, but this time, priest Shan Polli is determined to prevent the corrupt, soul-eating system from destroying one more life. Temar Grazer was sentenced for what amounted to a criminal prank—but Shan soon finds that the dangers extend far beyond Temar’s crime.

Caught between guilt and hope, Shan must find his true path in either the priesthood or in a man whose strength and survival defies the odds. Can the two men unravel a plot that threatens the entire world before Temar is broken by a system of slavery that has twisted out of control?

Review:  This is not your typical M/M Romance.  It is more Science Fiction which, I must admit, the M/M genre is sadly lacking in at the moment.
