Blurb: Faery royalty have always married for duty rather than love. Prince Chrysanths should be no different – except with a human for a father, the prince known as Puck already is different. When he is betrothed against his will to Prince Sky, Puck flees to his father in the human world, only to have Sky follow.

Prince Sky Song of the Clouds isn’t thrilled with the prospect of marriage either, but is bound by duty to follow through – if he can’t win Puck over, the faery realm might very well dissolve into utter chaos. Too busy arguing, Puck and Sky are unaware there are others with a vested interest in seeing the betrothal fail. In a bid for Puck’s crown, they’ll seek to keep them apart, even as Puck and Sky realize that duty and love don’t always have to be mutually exclusive.

Review: Sweet and fun fantasy, with twu luv, and plenty of interesting twists. Combining the land of the Fae: magical and mystical with contracts, bindings, and rules that don’t apply to the real world, with a contemporary life beyond the Faery mounds. I really thought this was going to be too slow and too sweet for me, it is very YA in that sense, so is a great recommendation for any and all YA readers. But Betrothed has some complex plots and twists that add to the story, adding in some mystery and deceit. Though I really wanted Sky to go all Alpha Fae and just dominate and take what was his, but alas, I’ve been reading too much BDSM and shifter stuff lately. These two Faeries, bound by contract might be bound to repel each other instead, but will magnetism draw them together in the end?

Sky and Puck brought me a different kind of love, one slow to learn, but true to appreciate, and at the climax of the story I found myself shouting for them out loud, cheering for my guys! Even though I knew it must all work out, I was truly worried for a few moments there!

The sexual content is slow building, mild but real, and of course at the end it was climactic.

The narration was very well done, different accents for different characters, smoothly read, and brought me right into the Fae world. I loved this sweet Faery Tale, and recommend for the magic and sweet romance loving crowd.

Review: Betrothed: A Faery Tale is exactly what the title says and it was also a totally enjoyable book. Being that it was also the first book I’ve read by Therese Woodson, I don’t think I’d be opposed to reading more of her works. I loved the emotions of the MCs (very relatable) and in general I just loved the sweet romance that was told.

The story is about Prince Chrysanths, aka “Puck” (yes, like Shakespeare) of the Asteraceae and heir apparent to the Earthern/Wood faery throne. He also happens to be half human. And any keen biologist may also realise, there’s lots of flower scientific classification involved too (Asteraceae is the class which includes flowers like Chrysanthemums).

Seriously, it gave this biologist here a thrill. He is sweet but he also has the tendency to be a bit spoilt, he is a child of two worlds (he visits his dad on the earth plane) but he hasn’t quite found his place in life yet.

Enter Prince Sky Song of the Clouds – and you guessed it, he’s of the type of faery associated with the element air. He’s a strong, silent and stoic sort of guy and knows that he must do his duty – to his family and his people.

There’s plenty of back story in the book itself which should satisfy any reader, but suffice to say that these two princes as part of a treaty must marry (hence the title). What starts as a selfish turn by Puck ends up to be an adventure that both princes needed and (most importantly) use the time to get to know each other before they tie the knot.

I really loved this book. It’s more than just a fantasy involving faeries. It’s also about fitting in and essentially gaining the maturity to grow up. The guys are easy to relate to, I especially like Sky’s character and their emotions are strong. The chemistry between the couple is also smoking, with the sexual tension maintained throughout the story.

This is the type of feel good novel that any reader of the paranormal/fantasy genre is sure to enjoy.

Blurb: Cal Martin loathes Christmas music, especially the clichéd carols pumped through the mall speakers on endless loop. Even worse is the holiday-themed hell of Santa’s Village that looms right in front of the sports store he manages. It’s yet another hurdle for Cal as he tries to survive the world of retail during the soul-sucking holiday season… until he catches a glimpse of one of Santa’s elves and becomes infatuated with the cheery, gorgeous guy dressed in candy-cane tights.

Of course, just walking up to the guy and asking him out isn’t easy, and a botched attempt at matchmaking ends up turning a simple courtship into a mess for the gossip page. What can Cal do to overcome his social ineptitude, correct erroneous assumptions, and maybe have a merry little Christmas of his own?

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2013 Advent Calendar package “Heartwarming.”

Review: Honestly, I thought this would be yet another boring Christmas romance, thus I’m so glad I was surprised. Yes, I was surprised by the plot, by the characters, from the turn of events and pretty much everything, but mostly from the depth that this story managed to (so subtly) get.

Cal Martin is not just a retail employee, managing a sports store at the mall. This character has much more hidden than shown in plain sight. His crankiness with the Holidays and the cheery Christmas music is just the tip of the iceberg to this character’s treats. I loved that this author managed to give him some dimensions and not let him be as flat as he first appeared. By the end of the story he definitely got to be one of those characters I so love to read and respect even.

And Xander, the elf… oh my. Just plain adorable. The fact that the author didn’t shy away from portraying his surrounding world exactly the cruel way they get with someone a bit different (though I admit I just couldn’t get how his “friends” never saw how pretty fantastic he was) was one of the best parts of the story.

You’d think that two guys finding each other attractive and crushing on each other would be pretty straightforward, right? Wrong! That doesn’t happen when you have meddling people surround you and you’re a bit inept at sticking up a conversation. What I didn’t expect though was how exactly messed up the situation would get. The twin factor was brilliant and funny as hell even as it screwed up everything for our pair for some time. But the romance development, the flirting and walking on eggshells, and the silent pinning, all that was just lovely. I felt slowly melting along with Cal and after finishing the story I was left with this silent sigh and content.

Definitely, a Christmas story you’ll want to read. The Trouble with Elves is one that will make you laugh and enjoy a nice night, especially if you accompany it with a hot chocolate and some candy cane 😉 Recommended!
