Ember is a drop-dead gorgeous Las Vegas escort. He notices Alejandro in some of the classes he teaches at his side business—a yoga studio. Then, color-blind Alejandro further captures Ember’s attention when he’s momentarily blinded by a quick change in light and needs Ember’s help at a club. What Ember doesn’t expect is the way Alejandro touches his heart.

Alejandro never intended to develop feelings for Ember. He’s in Las Vegas for a year to sow some wild oats. But Alejandro quickly sees more in Ember when he sets out to make some of Alejandro’s dreams come true—including a trip to the Grand Canyon and the beaches of LA. Alejandro’s wild oats could turn into something memorable.

Ember knows keeping his escort job from Alejandro isn’t the right thing to do, but he wants to be liked for who he is. Alejandro keeps his own secrets for the same reason. But Alejandro’s family obligations, along with Ember’s profession, could make it impossible for the two of them to stay together—unless they can figure out how to make the most of the gifts they’ve been given.

Review: Raymond Willow hides himself from the world. His alter
ego, Ember, is a high class escort on the Vegas strip and a Yoga instructor. While one job affords him the other, he’s still not entirely happy with his life. And then he meets his Prince Charming and everything changes.

Alejandro has escaped to Vegas for a year to decide what he wants to do with his life. He has responsibilities back home that he’s not looking forward to, but he realizes what he wants to do and what he must do are two entirely different things. He is the heir apparent in his country and his ailing father is dying. So while Alejandro has come to Vegas to have a moment to be true to himself, his mother is back home auditioning for the leading role in Alejandro’s life… a wife.

Ember and Alejandro are drawn to each other from the start, but both hold back because they fear the inevitable. Falling in love, which only leads to heartbreak. They both have responsibilities as well. While running a country is quite important, Ember has to take care of Jimmy, a runaway teen from his home town and perhaps, his little brother. Both being forced off the reservation much like Ember was, for being gay. But the heart wants what it wants, and these two hearts are joined together, regardless of Ember and Alejandro’s ridiculous attempts at not loving each other.

A modern day Prince and the Pauper, of sorts. While Ember isn’t poor by any means, he would still be undesirable for Alejandro because he is a man. I really enjoyed the way these two came together, connected and fell in love. Ember didn’t even realize it while he was doing it, but he was literally courting his Prince.

He took Alejandro every place imaginable to ensure his Prince experienced everything he wanted and more. From the Grand Canyon to the beach to the light show on the strip. I think I had as much fun riding along with these two as Alejandro did. And in return for his gift of exploration, Alejandro gave Ember acceptance, love and stability.

The Gift was sexy, passionate, and emotional and such a fun ride. There were a few highs and lows, and I had to wipe away a stray tear or two toward the end, but the story made smile and laugh as well. This is the sequel to The Price, but it stands on its own two feet quite well, so you could jump right in and not be lost.

Thank you for another fantastic, fun read Mr. Grey. You never cease to amaze me as I get to watch your imagination continue to evolve and churn out fresh new stories.

Blurb: SWAT officer, Cole, can handle just about anything, until he rescues Brett—a man who makes him question all he’s ever believed about love.

As a member of the Las Vegas Police Department’s SWAT team, Cole has seen his fair share of danger, but he’s never taken a chance on love. He’s willing to have some fun when the mood strikes him, but he’s married to the job. Called in on a hostage situation, Cole is prepared for anything and everything…except for the brave and beautiful Brett.

Brett has been burned before, most recently by Officer Parker McLean. He’s hoping to settle down in Vegas, perhaps find someone he can build a life with. The last thing Brett’s looking for is another man in uniform. But when he meets Cole, there’s an attraction that can’t be denied. Still, he hadn’t expected to fall for the chiseled alpha.

What begins as nothing more than two people experiencing a great night together spirals into something far deeper. But will Brett be able to handle the stress that comes with having a lover who constantly puts his life in jeopardy? And can Cole risk his heart on an everyday hero, or will the job he knows so well remain his top priority?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Publisher’s Note: This book is best read as part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Review: As a LVPD Swat officer, Cole has learned how to separate business and pleasure. Hell, he and his hostage negotiator even have a ‘friends with benefits’ thing going.

Then a call comes in that a local department store is under fire, there are hostages, and Cole comes face to face with the one man who has captivated his thoughts since the night he saw him at a local bar.

Brett doesn’t have the best track record with men, especially men in uniform. Leather however, leather he can do. Then a cute little twink bellies up to the bar and bats his eyelashes at the man in leather, and Brett feels shot down before he even had a chance to make a move. Fate has a way of intervening when she’s thrown off course though. Imagine Brett’s surprise when the store he manages is held up at gun point, and the officer that saves his life is the man in leather.

Brett is an emotional wreck after the day’s events. He just wants to be held, to feel protected, even if it is only for one night. Cole is a bit wrecked as well, the man who doesn’t like attachments finds himself very attached to the smart, standoffish blonde that is always immaculately dressed and well spoken. It’s just supposed to be one night of unbridled passion, with a little bit of domination.

But then those pesky feelings get involved and both men wind up held hostage to the threat of falling in love.

What Knight did with this story was take her love of BDSM and her uncanny ability to write contemporary romance and merge the two.

Cole is a big boy; he’s used to being in charge and getting what he wants. Brett is more than willing to submit to Cole, to let go of all his inhibitions and let the man control him in the bedroom. I especially enjoyed the banter back and forth between Cole and Brett during sexy time. How Cole, while wanting to dominate and take control, always made sure his lover was okay physically, mentally and emotionally.

They both struggled with different things as well. Cole so used to being a loner, almost pushes Brett away completely because he fears opening his heart to the man will somehow take away some of his control. And Brett has always drawn inward and kept his feelings to himself, but Cole can pull anything out of him pretty much from that first night they spend together. So while communication was a struggle at first, Cole made sure those lines remained open.

Definitely a must read and a fantastic installment to this series. If you are a fan of sexy men in uniform, overbearing alpha males, sweaty man sex where one of the men might be tied to a headboard, while being ravaging and romanced by his big, brooding lover… you are going to love this book!

Blurb: Bush pilot John Tillman never expected to raise his kid sister. As her graduation approaches, he can almost taste the freedom of the empty nest in his near future—to fly in his eagle form for days…walk around his house naked…maybe even bring a man into his bed for the first time in years. To save her college fund, John’s taking every run his plane can handle and doing his best to keep his shifting under the radar. Then his latest job walks into the local bar with a strange gait and velvety Southern drawl.

After three tours, two new legs, and one long-overdue divorce, the only thing Logan Maddox is counting on now is a distraction-free hunting trip with the son whose teen years he’s almost missed. Logan isn’t a hero, just a guy trying to readjust with new parameters. If he hasn’t quite put into practice the gay identity he’s finally accepted…well, it’s not top priority.

But fate has its own tactics, and the only pilot available to ferry them looks like a recruitment ad for Alaska’s hottest unit, and arrives with a seventeen-year-old girl in tow.

GRIZZLY RIM Series
The men of Grizzly Rim are a lot of things, but always human isn’t one of them. These shifters landed in this remote Alaska village for different reasons, but the same thing keeps them there: a massive wilderness where they can soar, lope, paddle, and hide.

But nature doesn’t play fair. A horny shifter can change form without warning, and nothing amps the libido like the extremes of the northern sun. Throw in feverish auroras, strange tides, and unexpected visitors, and this year’s brew is more potent than ever.

For the shifters of Grizzly Rim, one thing is becoming achingly clear: no matter where you hole up, eventually your secrets will catch your scent.

Review: This is the first book in the Grizzly Rim series. John Tillman, an eagle shifter and a pilot, is instantly attracted to his client Logan Maddox, a war veteran amputee and a human. These two had me smiling throughout the story as the flirted with each other. John was fierce and protective while Logan was determined. They were well matched.

I felt bad for John wanting to shift every time Logan kissed him and knowing he couldn’t yet. I loved how John made Logan understand he liked all of him despite Logan having no legs. It was sweet and caring. I fell in love with both of them by the end of the story.

The scenery in the book of the Alaskan wilderness was breathtaking. I really enjoyed everything about this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I hope it is about Dimitri as I’m curious about what happened at the end of this book.

Highly recommended.

Review: I have read many books by Angelique and she always gives me an entertaining story. Mostly because the title is just as funny as the story she gives. Now most of her books have been man on man story, but this one has J in it. That was a major downfall for me. She didn’t really make the story better but to me a big disappointment.

So even though it is a good book that was my down point. To be honest I had to skip over the sex scenes when she was involved.

The whole story is a bit different from the others that she has written, with this one involving outer space. Brale and Dyos are mates and they are not exactly on the right side of the law most of the time. Their families pretty much hate each other or I should say their races. So off they go to grab something for a wealthy client. What they got was a big surprise.

J is human and what they call a rare breeder. She has a feisty attitude and is kind of quirky to me. The guys want her big time, but to acquire her might be more than they bargained for.

The guys come off as a bit strange to me. They are extremely hot together though. The whole book itself is full of heat and the sex is downright hot. Now if you can get past the female in the story, the book is damn good. A little on the odd side though. Now to stop all my bitching about the female, the story itself is fantastic. It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end. It gave me almost everything I could want in a story.

I would recommend reading it.

Review: The Baker is the sixth book in Serena Yates’ Workplace Encounters series. However, none of the books are related and are stand alone stories. This is the second edition of The Baker, with Dreamspinner Press re-releasing the whole series. I read the first edition and could not tell the difference for the most part (my memory is a tad dodgy, though). I could not find exactly how the word count has changed on this new edition.

Once again, it seems that the clunky wording which I criticised in the first few books is there but it is not the problem that it had presented before. Although the author’s writing style will not agree with everyone, it can be rather wordy at times. The blurb also continues to be good and accurate compared to the first few books.

However, the themes of the previous books (closeted MC and MC facing losing their job/business) are there are again but it was presented very differently than in previous books.

The story is about Ian, who comes from a very traditional Scottish family in Wyoming. I suspect the family remained traditional because of the family’s bakery which had been started up by Ian’s grandfather and passed onto his father. Ian loves the bakery and he loves baking. The bakery is famous in town, probably because of Ian’s a-hole father’s “secret recipes” which he refuses to tell even Ian, who is set to inherit the bakery.

Around New Years, things change. Ian hears about a new Scottish festival the town’s mayor wants to hold and have a bake contest with the bakery front and centre. Ian also meets Cameron, a police detective who discovers the bakery one day. Ian has to fight his chauvinistic and homophobic father for a job and the bakery he loves, as well as falling for the hunky detective.

This series is good for an enjoyable, light right where you don’t need to apply too much brain power to understand. This has a bit more drama in it than the other books, but nothing wholly unnecessary. The Baker is certainly the best book in this series, so far. I love both Ian and Cameron and their chemistry was wonderful!

Review: This is book two in the Moonwar series. Continuing the cataclysmic events at the end of the first book Will, Ethan and others from the pub explore the devastation in search for survivors. What they find is so much worse.

I wish this was a longer story as I like the way things are going with Will and Ethan as well as the plot of the story. The aliens who have attacked earth seem cruel and unkind. The so-called authority now in place leaves a lot to be desired. The general seems like an ass to me that only cared about throwing his authority around.

Hot sex, as well as intense scenes at times, make a good read.

Review: Alec finally gets the chance to meet the father he never knew only to find out about a world he never knew about. I loved Alec’s character. He was headstrong and stubborn. Most defiantly did not like being told what to do. When he meets sexy Rowan he’s instantly attracted to him.

Rowan is a familiar who can shift into a panther. I really felt bad for Rowan as it seemed he’s been sheltered all his life and has trained to be a familiar. I was really glad that he and Alec worked together when things were tense and that he demanded the others help when it was needed.

This was a really good story with a mystery that was years old. The lengths that were went to surprised me. Though I understood the reasoning to a point I felt that there was no need to let it go that far. I was a little disappointed in the ending as I felt it fell  a little flat after the way everything built up. I also would have liked more details into who was taking out mages before they came into their powers. That part was sketchy and I was not completely sure who was behind that part.

I loved the beautiful scenery descriptions of Montana and the Savage Estate was enormous. Rowan and Alec had their disagreements at times and at others ignored the other but when they came together it hot and electric. I thought it was sweet how both wanted to protect the other.

I was a little disappointed in not knowing the extent of Alec’s power and what all he could do. It was a very fascinating read with adventure, action and mystery.

Review: This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
This book was not really the same as the others. There was no instant love in this mating. There was a lot of hurt feeling really in the first half of it. Carter’s hurtful and cold words to Abner when they first met has caused a ripple effect in their mating. Now Abner is the cold and hurtful one.

So for the first half of the book I was leaning toward pissed off at both Carter and Abner. Instead of talking the two of them just kept hurting each other. Both in the way they talked and the type of sex they had.

I think the second half of the book was much better. More is discovered about the “coming”. The intrigue is getting deeper also as those inside the council turn to the dark and try to destroy those that make the rules.

Once Carter and Abner get their shit together things are definitely better. The sex improves and they are actually talking and learning about each other. But yeah the first part of the book left me very unsatisfied.

This book just left me feeling a little blah. The writing was good, things moved at a good pace. But the beginning just kind of ruined it for me even when things improved between Carter and Abner.

Review: I’ve heard of Thursday Euclid before but this is the first time I’ve read one of his books (though I just discovered that I have a short story in my never-ending unread pile). Asher Beauregard Attempts to Give a Damn proved to be a good introduction to the author’s writing because it is based around one of my favourite scenarios: rock star who is broken inside and uses drugs to make it better.

So the book is basically what the title says. Asher Beauregard is a rock star who basically doesn’t care about much outside of music and to deal with his demons he resorts to drugs and alcohol.

Probably not at all uncommon in this world. Then Asher meets Leo, he’s lead singer for the support band on Asher’s band’s tour. Where Asher is gritty and broken and all Cajun, Leo is English and refined and pretty damn well-adjusted to the world/reality. With Leo’s appearance, Asher’s perspective begins to change and his world is about to be rocked, and not always in a good way. It’s up to Leo if he is strong enough to support Asher through the turbulence to follow.

This story is just… wow. It blew me away. This does not put on the rose-tinted glasses viewing the world of drugs and alcohol. Or more accurately, the world of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. It is an intense read and a very gritty read. If you don’t like either or intense or gritty, particularly when it comes to drugs, this is probably not the book for you.

The chemistry between Asher and Leo is explosive. I loved it, although sometimes it almost levelled on soap drama proportions I understand that this was used to portray to “rock” and the drug lifestyle. Asher also had so many demons to fight, it seemed like it was insurmountable.

Admittedly, Asher sometimes seems a bit too incoherent through the book, but remember this is a character that has become reliant on drugs as a crutch just to live. Meanwhile, Leo, whose life has been vastly different to Asher, is everything that is sweet and strong (and I love him too!).

This is an intense book; it’s probably going to leave you tired and still thinking about it at the end. You really need to take it slowly to get the full enjoyment and effect out of it. At first I thought, “Nope, not going to like it”. Then I slowed down and read it between other books and my appreciation for the story just went up.

In the end, it has left me wondering, what’s in store for Leo and Asher? Will Asher finally clear his head of the drugs and alcohol? I’m left wondering what Thursday Euclid has in store for us!

Blurb: Carter Evans is founder and editor-in-chief of Astounding!—a formerly popular spec fiction magazine currently in its death throes. Not only can he do nothing to save it, but stuck in a rathole apartment with few interpersonal connections, he can’t seem to do much to rescue his future either. And certainly all the booze isn’t helping. He snaps when he receives yet another terrible story submission from the mysterious writer J. Harper—and in a drunken haze, Carter sends Harper a rejection letter he soon regrets.

J. Harper turns out to be John Harper, a sweet man who resembles a ’50s movie star and claims to be an extraterrestrial. Despite John’s delusions, Carter’s apology quickly turns into something more as the two lonely men find a powerful connection. Inexplicably drawn to John, Carter invites him along on a road trip. But as they travel, Carter is in for some big surprises, some major heartbreak… and just maybe the promise of a good future after all.

Review: For every author there is always some book that is kind of the mental go to. I am not a stranger to Kim Fielding’s writing and for me Astounding! , is the one that has definitely left a lasting (and totally good) impression on me. It is a heck of a lot of fun and is packed with sweet romance to top it all off!

This is not your typical sci-fi, Close Encounters of the Third Kind or ET or Star Trek kind of outing. Instead, just about everything of this story gives off the vibe of a ‘50’s alien story. I think it’s the use of exclamation marks, not only for the title of the book but also for the chapter headings. They create the sense of melodrama and a great setting for the book. Even the cover screams 50’s aliens to me. It’s not often I comment on covers, but I really love this one. It’s fun and almost tells the story on its own.

The story is based around Carter. He is the editor and owner of a struggling print magazine which, due to electronic publishing, is about to publish release the final edition. Carter has devoted many years of his life to the magazine, publishing many amateur writers’ short stories.

Every month Carter receives submissions from one person in particular. The story never really changes, it is just variants on the same theme – an alien went to earth to explore, alien wants to go home but no way to contact his people, leaving the alien lonely. In that final month, Carter sends a rude rejection letter to the author of the badly written story.

This is the main setting which sends us on our own little road trip that in my mind crosses the ‘50’s aliens with X-Files (sort of). John is a charming and naive character. He has normally kept to himself but for something along the lines of a last hurrah, he and Carter join Carter’s friends on an RV trip. The romance between John and Carter is incredibly sweet and simple.

This is such an easy book to read and totally enjoyable.

Highly recommended.

Review: Everyone is invited to the wedding of the year!!! And what a beautiful wedding it was. At one point, leading up to and during the ceremony, I had crocodile tears pouring down my face. The moments Red and Bull share together and reminiscing about the ones past are so beautiful and emotional to read. They were meant for each other and I foresee their future with much joy and delicious mind blowing sex.

We first met Ian and Bull in, For a Reason, Book 2 in the Sizzling Miami series. This particular book is and has always been my favorite. There is just something about Ian that resonated within my heart giving me a connection with him. And, Bull… why can’t there be Jon Connors’ waiting on every corner?

Reading a book by Jessie G is like coming home after a long time away and curling up in your favorite chair… the one that has a dip especially made from your own bottom… grabbing your favorite blanket and snuggling in. Pure bliss. That is truly how I felt while reading, Their Reason.

This is a novella so it’s short and sweet, but nothing was left out of this incredible journey Ian and Bull have entered into. From the moment Bull realized it was past time to make Ian a Conner we witnessed all of their thoughts, feelings, and plans that went into making this the wedding of the year.

Jessie didn’t leave anything out or anyone and from tension to nerves to acceptance we got to tag along as the wedding plans unfold. As they stand before everyone they love and say their marriage vows committing themselves to each other tears poured down my face. I honestly felt as though I was a close friend and I was sitting on the front row with everyone else.

Jessie has an incredible ability of creating characters that are flawed but no less worthy and their hearts are made of pure gold. She has a very descriptive narrative that allows you to visualize the scenes taking place on page and you don’t realize until you reach the end that you were completely invested and blocked out everything around you.

She incorporated little insights into the other characters that make up the Sizzling Miami group and we get to see where they are presently. Which this only makes you want to revisit every book in the series so far …Again. Sneaky, lol

You must read For a Reason first before reading Their Reason because you wouldn’t understand the stride they have made or the impact they have had on each other’s lives as well as the readers if you didn’t. And trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the beautiful people these guys are inside and out, or the heartfelt journey they took that led to this day.

Jessie G is an auto-buy for me with good reason. She is an incredible author who gives voice to her characters and you fall in love with each and every one of them.

This was a beautiful and inspiring novella of love and because of that love you can conquer anything past or present as long as you stand together. The love of their friends and putting everything aside, without reservations, to stand before and around each other as two men become one name, one heart.

A beautiful journey that started out with no hope for a future or even a promise of getting through one day into a honeymoon with Ireland as the backdrop and a future full of possibilities.

Please meet Mr. and Mr. Jon Conner…someone pass the Kleenex.

Review: Answer Is by Dawn Kimberley Johnson is book 2 of the Q&A series. This series needs to be read in sequential order as both follow the same set of main characters. I’ve read that it can be read as a standalone but I personally do not particularly agree. Answer Is was a nice addition to the series, although sometimes I felt as though the story dragged on a little or some of the circumstances seemed a bit too contrived.

We return once more to Lonnie and Jamison, who we met when they got together in Good Question (Q&A 1). They’ve been together for some weeks now and things are about to get rocky when they begin to navigate further into their relationship. The main issues they face here is Jamison’s coming out (or staying closeted), Lonnie’s abusive (and possibly evil) ex and the roadblocks that are thrown their way from both situations.

As I said in the beginning, I found parts of this too contrived, and quite frankly for me that comes with some of the storyline involving Lonnie’s ex. I feel that there was too much going on (particularly with Lonnie’s share of the plot lines), that not enough justice was put into this subplot. However, Lonnie and Jamison are sweet when they are together. Jamison needs support from Lonnie as he battles within himself about coming out and it is there, even if it proves something to cause contention between the new couple. But the author has continued with the great chemistry between these two guys. They are utterly adorable.

I’m not sure if there is going to be a third book in this series (I did try to find out), but if there is I am certainly interested. I didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as the first novella, but I think anyone who has read book 1 will be more than happy with what we get. I really, really, do want to hear from these guys again!

(Stones of Power 04)
by

M.D. Grimm

Time travel. For mages, it violates their number one rule: what the Mother has written, let no one unwrite. The Mother writes the destinies of the creatures on the world of Karishian. If her writings were undone, it is feared that Creation itself could be undone. The Dark Mage Morgorth takes this rule to heart, but there are others who do not.

Morgorth is about to claim a stone of power when it is stolen from him by a female mage he hasn’t seen in decades. As they struggle for the stone, she activates it, and Morgorth is unwillingly plunged into another time and another place. It isn’t long before he realizes what time he’s found himself in and there are a few familiar faces.

Most notable is a much younger version of Aishe. His mate.

Living with a tribe who will be massacred, caring for a young lad who will become his mate, and fighting a battle against a mage who can travel from past to future at a whim; Morgorth’s life has never been easy but now he must contend with the will of the Mother. Unable to change the future and the tragedies of Aishe’s life, he must decide what his role in his mate’s past will be, and ask himself one vital question: how does one defeat time?
