Can figure skating enemies find love off the ice?
After an explosive locker room confrontation with his Russian rival ends in the most intense sex of his life, American pairs skater Dev Avira is distracted to say the least. He’s worked for years to have a chance at Olympic gold, and he can’t let himself—or his partner—down. Playing cat and mouse with the steely and smoldering Mikhail Reznikov is the last thing he needs as he prepares for the biggest competition of his life, but they can’t keep their hands off each other as the Games approach.
Dev soon learns that beneath Mikhail’s arrogant and aloof exterior is Misha, a passionate man who warms Dev’s heart and scorches his bed. They’re both determined to win, but for Misha his freedom could be at stake if he and his partner take anything less than gold. Who will stand atop the podium? And can secret lovers from different worlds make a life together once the competition ends?
This gay sports romance from Keira Andrews features enemies to lovers, two alpha men, sequins, and of course a happy ending. Content previously published as novellas Cold War and Holding the Edge.
Blurb: One man’s passion, another man’s lies. Can love fix even the darkest of hearts?
Trent Hanson is a figure skating phenom adored by millions around the world. His whole life has been dedicated to the sport he loves even when the sport – and his own family – have turned against him. From the playground to the Olympics to his parent’s living room, Trent has fought against bullies and homophobes to be the out and proud gay man he is. But the constant fighting has left Trent tired, lonely, and skittish. All those fears will have to be shelved though when he’s hired to spend the summer working with the Harrisburg Railers ice hockey team. Who would have guessed that the man fate has decided to pair him off with is Dieter Lehmann, all-around sex god and a man who seems to have everything to prove and doesn’t care who he hurts to get what he wants.
Dieter has spent too many years languishing in the minors and a secret addiction to prescription painkillers means his career is in a downward spiral. His ex is blackmailing him and he’s close to walking away from it all. But when he’s called up in the run for the Stanley Cup to cover injuries he has a taste of what it’s like playing in the NHL and he realizes that a place on the Railers roster is what he wants more than anything. More than listening to his heart, and even more than caring for the infuriating figure skater who gets under his skin. When he crosses the line to get what he wants, he knows he has lost his way. He has to change, but is it too late for both his career and any chance he might have at love?
Review: Trent was left nearly destitute when his step-father spent nearly all of Trent’s hard earned money on gambling, women and booze, now Trent is having to help a bunch of hockey players the finer art of skating in a bid to save his skating rink and his mother’s home.
Dieter is loving playing for the Harrisberg Railers and is very happy with the contract they’ve just offered him, but Dieter has a couple of secrets and one of them could destroy his career forever.
This is a brilliant addition to the Harrisberg Railers series, hot hockey players discovering love when they least expect it… wonderful.
Trent is a bit of a diva, he’s been dragged down by his step-father but he refuses to stay down, but really training hockey players is the last thing that his fabulous self wants to be doing. Setting eyes on the sexy Dieter sends Trent into raptures, he’d like nothing better than to climb Dieter like a tree and when Dieter returns his interest Trent thinks he’s found a man worth keeping.
Dieter has his whole career in front of him now he’s got a contract with the NHL, but his own bad habits could pull everything from out under him. Meeting Trent has Dieter fascinated with the sexy man but Dieter has a lot to think about, between the blackmail and his nasty pain pill habit the future is no longer looking rosy.
I enjoyed this story for the most part, Trent’s and Dieter’s relationship is one that isn’t built on clouds, it’s built on hard work and understanding. Their passion for each other sets the pages on fire, even with just a meeting of the eyes across a room. They talk and support each other helping each other as they struggle with their own demons. They really are perfect for each other.
The part I hated was Trent’s mother’s forgiveness of Trent’s step-father and her trying to get Trent to forgive him. It really stuck in my craw her crying out ‘but I love him’, ‘he’s a changed man’ and trying to make Trent feel guilty for not instantly forgiving the man. Seriously this man bullied Trent all his life, he’s homophobic, he stole all of Trent’s money, cheated on Trent’s mother and now he wants forgiveness because he’s in prison and is being treated for his addictions. Oh hell no, if someone did that to my son and myself I wouldn’t give a damn if he was an alcoholic, sex addicted, gambler who had suddenly found remorse and been blessed by God himself, he was still a homophobic prick who had bullied a young boy. There’s no forgiveness for that.
Other than that little part of the story this is a really enjoyable story with great characters and a wonderful love story.
I recommend this story to those who love men on ice, sexy times, dealing with addiction, finding love, support and understanding, and a very happy ending.

Coach’s Challenge
(Cayuga Cougars 03)

Victor Kalinski and his husband, Dan Arou, are living the dream. Married for over a year now, the couple have settled into life in Cayuga surrounded by friends, family, and a team that’s poised to make another championship run. Each man is enjoying professional success as well as personal bliss. Who knew life in the suburbs with a spouse and a child could be so darn satisfying? Not Vic. K, that’s for sure.
The happy times are about to turn rough, though. The Cougars have picked up a new player, Sander March, a brash young center whose sass, skill, and attitude can rival Victor’s. When it’s revealed that this new player and Dan have history, tensions begin to rise between the newlyweds. As Victor and Dan work on those issues, the one person Victor never thought he would meet arrives in the small New York hamlet and proceeds to flip everything in Vic’s life upside down.
Can Victor and Dan’s marriage withstand what life is about to drop on it, or will the challenges be too much for them to handle?

Review: Each book in the Cayuga Cougars collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order.
Vic and Dan have been married for over a year now. Their son was as cute as pie, and his mother is a sweetie. Things always change and sometimes they might actually be good. Vic is an asshat sometimes though, but you can see why. His father left him with his abusive and drunk of a mother. He was angry as hell sometimes and pretty much a dick. He loved his family though.
Now things are getting shook up. Daddy dearest is back in the picture, wanting to make amends. Dan’s ex is now on the team, and jealousy is stacking up pretty hard. Things are never just happy and sweet, no, this story does that plus pissed off, violent tendencies, sulky and well you get the picture. It is actually like a real life home I guess.
I don’t much care for sports so that did nothing for me, and I just couldn’t connect with the story at all. I liked how this author throws in different parts to a story that many don’t. Such as Sal with HIV and Vic’s abusive past. It is a pretty good story but I can’t say it did anything for me. It was just long winded and a bit boring for me, but those are my issues with it. I did enjoy the book to a point and would recommend it.
Blurb: August Miles has the world on a string professionally.
Augie, as his friends and teammates call the unassuming young goaltender, is on the fast track to the pros. The starting goalie for the Cayuga Cougars, he has a year or two in Cayuga to hone his skills and all his career dreams will have come true. Pity his personal life isn’t riding the same high. He’s the only one among his group of friends without that special someone to call his own.
Until he meets Salvatore Castenada at a lakeside party. The attraction is white-hot and more than a little wonderfully overwhelming for the romantically inexperienced goalie. August quickly discovers that Sal is everything he’s dreamed of in a man: mature, settled, sinfully handsome, and filled with gentle humor. Sal is also HIV positive.
Will Sal’s revelation about his status end this budding relationship before it can even begin? Or will the two men be able to handle the challenges life—and a championship run for the Cougars—throws at them?
Review: Each book in the Cayuga Cougars collection features a new romantic couple. To enjoy the overall story arc and crossover characters, I would recommend reading the series in sequential order. Although I did not read book one and won’t read it, it will give you some insight into the characters. My problem with it was the fact that it was m/f, and it was almost the reason I did not want to read this. I have issues with mixing m/f, f/f, and m/m.
This is the first book by this author that I have read and was surprised to say the least. You have two sexy men who are into each other, mixture of pretty cool friends, and then it goes into something deeper.
Augie is a pretty damn good goalie for his hockey team. He has a heart of gold, but he has been keeping a secret from them all. That is until he meets Sal, and the doors are wide open now. He finds that he is quite attracted to the older man and when he finds out Sal’s secret he goes out of his way to learn all he could about HIV. That is not going to change his mind though, he wants him.
Sal works for the local hospital for some time and enjoys it. On his twenty-first birthday he went out and partied hard. Went home with a sexy man and found out afterwards that he was now HIV positive. Guys don’t want to date him because of it, so when he meets Augie he is wishing for him now.
It will also show you who is your true friend and who are not. They both have amazing parents as well as their friends. It is a sweet story and I found that I enjoyed reading it. I will admit that it was a bit boring in some parts or long-winded I should say. It didn’t keep my attention like it should have but I still had fun with it. The author definitely did her work on getting to understand HIV and what it is like to live with it. It was written pretty well and had some good parts that I really got into. There were also some missing parts that I felt should have been there with the disease as well. I did not like how Augie was when he took Sal home to meet his parents though.
Other than my issues with it, the story is pretty upbeat and enjoyable. I can see myself reading the next book. I can’t say that I would read it more than once though, it was just not my kind of book. I am not really all that interested in books that have sports involved in them. But it is a very good story that one would enjoy.

Can they survive the off-season and keep from striking out?
Baseball player Brett must get rehabilitation for his shoulder if he wants another season in the Major League. He and his partner, Benj, take off to the boonies to stay with physical therapist Ralph, a tough-talking, routine-setting guy, and Jean, Ralph’s Cajun lover, who cooks as well as he loves.
Brett and Ralph butt heads from the beginning. Ralph wants Brett to be more in touch with his feelings; Brett wants Ralph to give him his therapy and leave him alone. Benj and Jean get along far better, with Jean showing Benj around the kitchen and reassuring him when things with Brett get strained.
Before Ralph can even begin to work on Brett’s shoulder, though, Brett faces an even more difficult physical challenge, one that does more than threaten his career. He and Benj have to work through some tough issues, making decisions that will affect the rest of their lives together. Their gradual friendship with Ralph and Jean helps them through the bad times, but even that might not be enough to pull them through.

Captain is not a title Alejandro “Alex” Cantu takes lightly. Elected by his teammates to helm the US Men’s Swim Team, he proudly accepts the role, despite juggling endless training, team administrative work, and helping out on the family farm. And despite his ex-lover, Dane Ellis—swimming’s biggest star—also making the Olympic Team.
Dane has been a pawn in his celebrity parents’ empire from crib to pool, flashing his camera-ready smile on demand and staying deeply in the closet. Only once did he drop the act—the summer he fell in love with Alex. Ten years later, Dane longs to cut his parents’ strings, drop his too-bright smile, and beg Alex for another chance.
Alex, though, isn’t ready to forgive and forget, and Dane is a distraction he doesn’t need on his team, until an injury forces Alex to accept Dane as his medley relay anchor. Working together, their passion reignites. When Dane’s parents threaten reprisal and Alex is accused of doping, the two must risk everything to prove Alex’s innocence, to love one another, and to win back their spots on the team, together.

Tobias Bennett is a quiet and unassuming man who teaches yoga and enjoys parkour. Though he is proud to be gay, an abusive relationship with a domineering man has left Tobias wary of romance, and he keeps to himself in his tidy Los Angeles apartment.
Pro football player Sullivan Archer is Tobias’s complete opposite: loud, brash, fond of the spotlight… and deep in the closet. When a hamstring injury sends Van to Tobias as part of his therapy, neither of them is expecting to come face-to-face with his one-night stand. Now they’re stuck together throughout Van’s healing process, and the close proximity will force them to deal with some hard truths. For Tobias, it’s realizing his hookup is a celebrity. For Van, it means accepting that he likes Tobias more than he wanted. They’ll both have to acknowledge that if they choose to pursue a relationship, their lives will change in big ways.
Review: The Players of LA Series are standalones, but characters from each book to appear in subsequent novels. It is recommended to read in order to maximize the reading experience.
Sullivan was a pretty well known in sports. He however had one hell of a secret, he was gay. One night hookup with Toby left him wanting more. However he was afraid of what would happen if others found out. Then when he is injured on the field, part of his rehabilitation is to do yoga. Guess who is his teacher.
Toby is a sweet young man who has had a rough time. He is out and prowd, but his ex has left him scared of big and scary men. He runs from Archer, but finds himself teaching him yoga anyway. Except for this time, they were alone. Things heat up real fast, and when the ex comes back, Archer knew he would do anything to protect the one he loves.
Now I have never been a fan of stories that involve sports. Probably because I have no idea of what they are talking about. However this author is amazing. I read book three in this series before reading the others, and lets just say that if this author is behind the books, then ten to one I will continue to read.
The characters are so real and the action is off the charts. You get so much in this story that you just can’t take your eyes off of it. There is even danger added in which for me is a bonus. I had a lot of fun reading this and can’t wait to read the other books. I would definitely recommend this book.

Hot of the Ice 01: Bryce & Dakota
by
A.E. Wasp
Follow the money or follow your heart? Either way, you lose.
When a blown tire leads directly to mind-blowing sex with a white knight named Dakota, pro-hockey player Bryce Lowery discovers he is most definitely gay.
Being with Dakota opens up a whole new world. Bryce can’t imagine life without him. But he refuses to be Bryce’s dirty little secret. If he wants to keep Dakota, he’s either going to have to come out publicly or retire and walk away from millions of dollars.
Bryce Lowery feels like the answer to all of Dakota’s prayers. But is Dakota willing to leave the only life he’s ever known only to be thrust into the spotlight as the boyfriend of the first out gay hockey player? Would their relationship even survive it? He’ll lose Bryce if doesn’t because Bryce will leave eventually. No one would turn down millions of dollars for a nobody with nothing.
City Boy is a first time gay, fish out of water, May/December love story with a happy ending. It features snarky siblings, a dirty-talking farmer, lots of food, and big choices. (No poultry was harmed in the making of this book.)
Sometimes the toughest thing to have faith in is yourself.
The first time Paul Dyson met Robbie Rhodes, they ended up naked in Robbie’s bed. The last time they met, on the ice the morning after, Paul punched Robbie in the face and called him something he’d rather not repeat.
Two years later, they’re teammates on the Seattle Thunder hockey team.
Being gay is wrong, unnatural, and there is no room for them in his world. Paul’s heard that his whole life. So when it hits him that he is gay, he does the only thing he can: he shoves himself so deep in the closet he would need a map to find his way out again.
When the chance to fulfill his lifelong dream comes along, Paul can’t say no, even if it forces him to share hotel rooms with the only man he can’t resist. It doesn’t take long for Paul to give into temptation and find himself falling in love with his brilliant, caring teammate.
But as much as he cares for Paul, Robbie is finding it harder and harder to justify hiding who he is. It goes against everything he was taught was right. He feels like he has a duty to come out to the public. He’d be the first out gay pro-hockey player.
If Paul wants to be with Robbie, he will have to turn his back on his family and everything he’s believed in. If Robbie wants to be will Paul, he’ll have to do the same.
It’s going to take them a lot of faith to find their way together in this shiny new world.
Country Boy is a love story about figuring out who you are, who you want to be, and how to get there. It contains sweet hockey plays, a 1976 Corvette Stingray, fancy underwear, and the journey of a lifetime.

He’s a player. Everyone knows it. Except Sean isn’t a game to him.
Mateo has been the biggest contender for the Super Lightweight title for over two years. No matter how hard he works, he can’t seem to beat the current champ. Since boxing is all he has in the world, it’s an issue. His confidence is in the can, and his social life is non-existent. Mateo has had no real friends or relationships that have lasted longer than one night in years. That is, until he meets a man whose beautiful heart leaves him mystified.
Rescuing a drunk from the parking lot of his workplace, Slip, isn’t a new thing for Sean. People leave the bar and grill plastered and intent on driving all the time. Usually, Sean calls them a cab and sends them on their way. Mateo is the first one he’s ever taken home. There’s something sad about Mateo. Sean lost all his friends years ago, and he sees a kindred spirit in the sexy boxer. It’s easier than he ever dreams to consider the man his best friend in no time at all. Except he’s not. Mateo is so much more.
It’ll take the purest heart to save a broken man from a hellish life. Unfortunately, when it comes to Mateo and Sean, it’s hard to know who needs rescuing the most.
Blurb: It’s been decades since blackmail forced Troy Callahan to retire from playing professional hockey, and he’s built a successful career behind the bench. When he’s offered the opportunity to coach the Asheville Ravens—the most hated team in the ECHL—he’s convinced that his no-nonsense attitude is just what the team needs to put their focus back on hockey. But Troy is disheartened when he finds that the Ravens have signed Shane North, a player known for his aggression. And it only gets worse when Shane’s rough good looks give Troy inappropriate thoughts about a member of his team, even if Shane’s set to retire at the end of the season.
Shane’s career in the majors never quite took off. Wanting to quit on his own terms, Shane agrees to a one-year contract with the Ravens and finds himself playing for a coach who thinks he’s an aging goon and with a team that doesn’t trust him, the coach, or each other. Despite his determination to not get involved, Shane unwillingly becomes part of the team… and is just as unwillingly drawn to the gruff out-and-proud coach. As the Ravens struggle to build a new identity, Shane and Troy succumb to the passion that might cost them everything.
Seriously, it’s true. It’s got to be some sort of scientific law or something!
Coach’s Challenge is the fifth book in Avon Gale’s Scoring Chances series and I have loved and devoured each book. Coach’s Challenge is no exception. I was kind of waiting for something with this type of plot but not expecting it.
While the two main characters are new this is really a story of a team’s redemption. Because of this I really do recommend reading the series from the start if you’ve not already done so. That way you will understand why the Asheville Ravens are the most hated team in the ECHL and why the team needs to build itself up from the ground after being practically destroyed (for all the right reasons).
As for the story itself, Troy Callahan is the titular coach. He didn’t have an easy time in his professional playing career (I won’t spoil anything!) but over the years has proved himself to be a damn good coach. Now, after replacing the unethical and all around horrible coach of the Asheville Ravens, it is his job to build the team up. (Think the Mighty Ducks if they had been made up of mostly brutish, homophobic a-holes). He has a plan for the team and the last thing the team needs is a player known for being aggressive. But Shane North has something to prove. He’s coming towards the end of his playing and feels like he needs to prove himself as a hockey player after a lackluster career in the majors.
Fans of the books will not be disappointed I think. It gives the Ravens a new lease on life after being totally vilified for four books. Sports romance fans, you guys should just go back and read the series from the start.
